Up and Down May Ends with Gains In Speed for Snook

Mifflintown, PA – May 30, 2024

After an April full of rain and scattered races for Lane Snook and the Mifflintown-based 23 team, more races occupied the next month. The team got to travel to several different tracks around the Central PA region and got to test out different packages on a wide variety of tracks.

Williams Grove and Port Royal rounded out the month of April. The topless 25-lap feature at Williams Grove turned out to be a bust with Lane retiring from the race after issues just past halfway and winding up 20th. Port Royal brought another challenging night, as a tough heat race buried the 23 car in the feature and netted only a plus-one finish of 15th.

Rain followed the next two weeks and then the young racer was able to take on the Speed Palace once more, finishing with a 6th place run. Speed was building for the team and it showed at their next event at Clinton County Speedway. This was Lane’s first time at the speedway. Being quickest in hot laps, gave the young racer hope for the evening. After salvaging a good run following a heat race incident, Snook was able to pilot the 23 car to a top 10 finish, even after an early race misstep sent him to the tail.

Rain followed the next night at Hagerstown. That left a Sunday night show for the team, to cap off the Memorial Day weekend, at Port Royal. Being a part of the Bob Weikert Memorial, the limited late models and Snook again got to showcase their skills in front of a massive crowd. With Lane rolling off 12th on the grid, his eyes were focused forward and he was able to drive up to 8th, to score his third consecutive top-10 finish. “We definitely made some gains on the car” stated Snook. That progress will hopefully pay off as the month of June ramps up in intensity, as long as Mother Nature cooperates.

With the increased number of races on the horizon, being focused and locked in is important. This is a skill that the now 16-year-old racer makes a priority. “I just try to stay focused and make sure everything is done, and everything on the car is right.” Lane says he’s not one for a particular routine, but these few things help to keep him on track mentally during a race week and during a night of competition.

Another key aspect of any race night is the support and help from sponsors. When asked about some of the relationships that Lane and the team have with sponsors, the young racer highlighted several people who do much more than just provide financial help for the late model team. “We go camping at Eldora with the Ritchey family (Ritchey Sandblasting). One crew guy, Duke (Mexico Ridge Beef Farms) gives us food and helps with other stuff.” Other family members of different sponsors also have a great relationship with the Snook family, including MHT Transport who helps with fuel, and Juniata Beverage, which provides the hydration the team needs after the races. “We all have very good relationships and support each other as much as we can.” This allows the teenage late model driver to remain focused and to also stay loose being surrounded by such close sponsors that have practically become family.

Snook and team would like to again thank all of their sponsors for keeping them on track and getting them prepared for a busy summer. The team looks to start June with a strong run at BAPS Motor Speedway on June 1st. Port Royal will be on the schedule the following weekend, June 8th. With the end of May’s speed, fans should expect to see more highs than lows in June.

Feathers Sees Victory Slip Away at Port Royal on Double-Duty Night

Port Royal, PA – May 21, 2024

by Addicted2Dirt PR & Media Mgmt

Photo Credit: Jeremy Zarfos / WRT Speedwerx

Trever Feathers has been upfront all season long, regardless of whether he straps into the McFarland Custom Painting & Wall Coverings, George’s Used Cars, Martin’s Pumping, North River Farm, Feathers & Son’s Roofing, Leggett Engine Research, Coffelt Graphics, Shane McDowell Racing, Fox Racing Shox No.20 super late model or the No.27 limited late model.

The lone exception was the difficult weekend his last time out at the end of April.  That weekend things just didn’t go very well in either car.

Feathers was back in action with both cars and looking to rebound last weekend at Port Royal Speedway while pulling double-duty.

QUICK RESULTS

DATE:  May 18, 2024

  • Class:  Super Late Model
  • Track:  Port Royal Speedway
  • City, State:   Port Royal, PA
  • Quick Stats:  33 cars, Qualifying 3rd; Heat 2nd (4), A-main 2nd (4)

DATE:  May 18, 2024

  • Class:  Limited Late Model
  • Track:  Port Royal Speedway
  • City, State:   Port Royal, PA
  • Quick Stats:  15 cars, Heat 2nd (4), A-main 8th (1)

STEADY STEEL BLOCK

In limited late model division, Feathers was definitely back on track from the start.  He drove from 4th to 2nd in his heat race and earned the pole for the 20-lap main event.

Feathers’ only miss of the night with his No.27 steel block was his feature setup.  He slipped back to an 8th-place finish.

“I missed the setup or feature with this car (the limited).  It was really good in the heat, so I didn’t think it needed much  When you’re running two cars, the super (late model) is the priority, so we worked on that car first.  I probably should have made some adjustments but opted not to.”, Feathers shared.

TWO TURNS AWAY

Feathers’ focus was rightfully on the super late model given there was $5,000 on the line for the winner of the Spring Championship feature.

Time trials were used to qualify the highly competitive 33-car field and set heat race lineups.  Feathers went out late but registered the 3rd quickest lap in the field, a mere 0.081 seconds off quick time.

The inversion put Feathers outside row two for his heat race.  Just past the halfway point of the 8-lap qualifier, he raced his way into the runner-up spot and held on to finish there.

In the 25-lap finale, Feathers once again started outside row two but this time used a bold move into turn one to split the front row starters.  The Winchester, VA native drove up the middle past the flag stand, then moved to the high side of the speedway in turn two to pull even for the lead down the backstretch.

When the field reached the start/finish line to complete the opening lap, it was Feathers leading the way.  He remained at the front of the field for the next twenty circuits, enduring several restarts but managing to keep the competition at bay.

With four laps remaining, the final caution of the event appeared.  On the ensuing restart, Feathers again took command with Dylan Yoder and Colton Flinner battling for second.  Flinner claimed the spot and came after Feathers on the final lap, squeezing alongside and making contact on the low side of turn 3.

When the pair emerged off turn four and came to the line they were nose to tail, with Feathers finishing second.

“The cautions hurt us.  Our American Racer tires fired off great but after all the cautions what we really needed was a long green flag run.”, Feathers commented.

“We had good speed all night.  We timed well and raced well.  Overall I’m happy.  I just don’t race people the way we got raced there on the last lap.  Wanted to come out of here with the win but I’m not going to do it that way.  I probably should have stuck to my line in (turns) one and two, then protected at the other end.”

UP NEXT

Feathers will have a busy Memorial Day Weekend ahead.  Tentatively the team may head to Bedford Speedway Friday, May 24th for the $4,000-to-win Turk Burket Tribute.

Saturday night May 25th Feathers will return to Port Royal Speedway where the super late models will compete alongside the High Limit Sprint Cars on Fallen Heroes Championship Night.

Sunday May 26th will bring a trip to Potomac Speedway in Mechanicsville, MD for the $3,022-to-win Ernie Jones Memorial super late model event.

Trever Feathers Endures Difficult Weekend at Georgetown and Natural Bridge

Port Royal, PA – May 2, 2024

by Addicted2Dirt PR & Media Mgmt

Trever Feathers has had speed this season regardless of which of his cars he straps into, the McFarland Custom Painting & Wall Coverings, George’s Used Cars, Martin’s Pumping, North River Farm, Feathers & Son’s Roofing, Leggett Engine Research, Coffelt Graphics, Shane McDowell Racing, Fox Racing Shox No.20 super late model or No.27 limited late model.

He has a win, top fives, and top tens to his credit thus far.  He has also had some bad luck, like the blown tire while leading a super late model race at Georgetown Speedway last month.

With another super race at Georgetown (DE) and a limited race at Natural Bridge (VA) on the schedule last weekend, the question heading into it was which side of the ledger he would add to.

QUICK RESULTS

DATE:  April 26, 2024

  • Class:  Super Late Model (Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series)
  • Track:  Georgetown Speedway
  • City, State:   Georgetown, DE
  • Quick Stats:  40 cars, Group 1 Qualifying 17th; Heat 10th (9), B-main DNS

DATE:  April 27, 2024

  • Class:  Limited Late Model (Steel Block Bandits Dirt Late Model Challenge)
  • Track:  Natural Bridge Speedway
  • City, State:   Natural Bridge, VA
  • Quick Stats:  32cars, Group B Qualifying 5th; Heat 3rd (3), A-main 13th (10)

WELL #$^&!

Going into the weekend, Feathers has recorded finishes of 3rd and 4th in his super late model.  In the limited late model, he had a victory and a top ten.

Unfortunately, the trend didn’t continue at Georgetown Speedway against the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series Friday night.  With 40 cars on hand, Feathers had issues in qualifying and turned in a disappointing 17th-best lap in his group.

Things didn’t improve during his heat race.  Feathers dropped out and was recorded as finishing 10th.  His night ended there.

“We sucked tonight.”, Feathers commented.  “Not any other way to say it.”

“The good news is I think we figured something out tonight.  We need to change how we approach this place (Georgetown).  We will find out next time we are back here.”

IF IT WASN'T FOR BAD LUCK...

Saturday night Feathers headed South from his shop in Winchester, VA down Interstate 81 to Natural Bridge Speedway to take on the Still Block Bandits Series with his limited late model.

Feathers put the 5th quickest lap in Group B on the books, a solid start to the night against 31 other teams.  A 3rd place run in his heat race gave him a 10th-place starting spot in the $ 5,000-to-win main event.

At the start of the 50-lap affair, Feathers immediately claimed 8th and held that for nearly twenty laps.  At the halfway mark he had advanced to 6th and was looking to crack the top five.

His engine had other ideas.  Issues with fifteen laps remaining ended the night for Feathers.  He was officially credited with 13th at the conclusion of the race.

“We had a top-five car tonight, maybe a podium.  This Team Zero car has been awesome since we got it.  One of the best-handling cars I have ever had.  It’s tough having issues two races in a row while we were running near the front.”

UP NEXT

Feathers is waiting for word on his limited late model engine before making a final decision about this weekend’s plans.  The options are Hagerstown Speedway with his No.27 limited late model or Port Royal Speedway with his No.20 super late model.

Follow Trever’s social media outlets (@tfeathersracing on most platforms) for schedule updates to come later this week!

Early Season Tribulations Strengthening Snook & 23 Car

York Haven, PA – April 23, 2024

by Derick Kriner / Addicted2Dirt PR & Media Mgmt

With a little over a month and a half in the books for the 2024 season, Lane Snook and his 23 car team, have seen their fair share of issues. Not only has Mother Nature played a big part in making the beginning part of the season difficult, but mechanical issues have littered the early season. These struggles haven’t dampened the spirits of the team, and if anything, have strengthened them.

As most racers will tell you, this sport is not always roses, but Snook looks to see past the early season issues and find consistency. Several shows had been trending in a positive direction, but whether it was a mechanical issue or rain, some nights have not ended well.

Maintaining a positive mindset is something that Snook says has been a key part of the early season. “We had rear-end trouble two weeks in a row and that kept us hard at work in the shop.” These mechanical issues at BAPS Motor Speedway ended a few races early. Showing speed up until those points in the night made it frustrating to see them come to an early end, but left the team with some optimism, and better results followed.

Lane was able to put together two top-10 finishes. One at Port Royal Speedway, and the other at BAPS Motor Speedway. A water main break put the Selinsgrove limited feature on hold until April 27th, but the 23 car showed speed prior to the postponement of racing action this past Sunday. “We were pretty good once I got used to the car/track after a few laps.” Confidence heading into another week of racing shows the never-quit attitude Lane and the team have. “We will keep working hard at it and hope that the bad luck is out of the way.”

The Mifflintown-based team looks ahead to a busy three-day weekend of limited late-model competition. Williams Grove hosts a rare topless limited late model show on Friday, that will give the team another track to test out, in this young season. Then the team will head north to Selinsgrove for a double feature night, as the completion of last week’s feature, compliments a regular weekly show. Sunday will cap off the weekend at Port Royal, as the limited late models join the Lucas Oil Late Model Series.

When asked what professional racing series Lane would like to race in as a career, he responded by saying, “Definitely the Lucas Oil tour. They seem very professional and they also have very good payouts. Everyone on the Lucas crew seems to respect their drivers and have a good mindset.” Snook and team look to have a good showing in front of a national audience of late model fans on Sunday.

He also looks forward to some better racing conditions with less precipitation in the forecast but says he still gets some racing in, even when the weather in the real world won’t allow it. “If we don’t go to the shop, I will usually hop on iRacing with a few buddies and have some fun.” Whether it’s working on the racecar or working on his race craft online, Lane has his mind on improvement.

We hope to see everyone at the track this weekend and the team would again like to thank all of its sponsors and partners for keeping them going through the early season and beyond. Thanks to Grassmyer Auctioneering, MHT Transport, Fryeco Fabrication, Ritchey Sandblasting, Dyers Top Rods, Mexico Ridge Beef Farms, The Olde Hatchery, Juniata Beverage, Byers Racing Engines, Scheaffer Racing Oil, and Superfly Shocks.

Feathers Fast All Night, Earns Podium Finish in First 2024 Visit to Port Royal

Port Royal, PA – April 23, 2024

by Addicted2Dirt PR & Media Mgmt

As a result of the cold, wet Spring weather and selective schedule choices, Trever Feathers rolled into Port Royal Speedway for the first time this season on Saturday night, April 20th.  That’s not a typical year for the multi-time opening day winner at the Pennsylvania oval.

In fact, it was set to be only his second super late model start of the 2024 season.  Feathers and team elected to run good paying limited late model events the past two weekends.

In his only super late model start thus far, Feathers took an early lead at Georgetown Speedway in Delaware but a blown tire dropped him to the back of the field.  He recovered for a top-five result that night.  Now it was time to put that speed to the test north of the Mason-Dixon line.

QUICK RESULTS

DATE:  April 20, 2024

  • Class:  Super Late Model
  • Track:  Port Royal Speedway
  • City, State:   Port Royal, PA
  • Quick Stats:  38 cars, Group 1 Qualifying 2nd; Heat 1st (1), A-main 3rd (3)

TBD

In what has become the norm at Port Royal Speedway for a super late model show, another stout field of 38 teams was on hand.

The McFarland Custom Painting & Wall Coverings, George’s Used Cars, Martin’s Pumping, North River Farm, Feathers & Son’s Roofing, Leggett Engine Research, Coffelt Graphics, Shane McDowell Racing, Fox Racing Shox No.20 was quick right from the start.  Feathers qualified 2nd fastest in group one by a mere 0.075 seconds behind Greg Satterlee.

Feathers dominated heat race number two.  From the pole, he led every lap and cruised to the win.  The speedway was using the Lucas Oil Late Model format to help teams prepare for the series’ invasion on April 28th, which put the Winchester, VA native on the inside of row two for the 25-lap main event.

In that feature event, Feathers climbed into second for two laps just before the midpoint of the race but he couldn’t hang on to it and came home a solid 3rd at the end of the night behind winner Gregg Satterlee and runner-up Rick Eckert.

“I was hoping for better tonight.  We were fast in qualifying and in our heat, but I was just too tight in the feature.  I lost time from the middle of the corners through exit.”, said Feathers.

“Our Team Zero Race Car has been fast every time out so far this year.  We will find victory lane soon.  I can’t thank Shane McDowell Racing, my uncle Jimmy McFarland, George’s Used Cars, Larry Royston at Martin’s Pumping, North River Farm, Feather’s and Son’s Roofing, Rick Leggett, Jon Coffelt, and the folks at Fox Shox enough for everything they all do for us.”

UP NEXT

Feathers plans to compete with the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series at Georgetown Speedway on Friday, April 26th.

If his limited late model motor is ready in time, Feathers is aiming to compete at Natural Bridge Speedway’s Steel Block Bandit event April 27th.

SEASON STATS

Super Late Model:  2 races, 0 wins, 2 top 5’s, 2 top 10’s, 2 top 15’s

Limited Late Model:  2 races, 1 win, 1 top 5’s, 2 top 10’s, 2 top 15’s

Feathers Starts Strong, Engine Woes Lead to 10th Place Finish at Potomac Speedway

Potomac, MD – April 17, 2024

After winning at Hagerstown Speedway in his 2024 limited late model debut, Trever Feathers opted to compete at Potomac Speedway’s Steel Block Clash Danny Garrett Memorial Saturday night to take his shot at claiming the $3,999 top prize.

QUICK RESULTS

DATE:  April 13, 2024

  • Event:  Danny Garrett Memorial
  • Class:  Limited Late Model
  • Track:  Potomac Speedway
  • City, State:   Potomac, MD
  • Quick Stats:  26 cars, Heat 2nd (2), A-main 10th (5)

WHO NEEDS A BRAKE PEDAL?

Feathers made the two-and-a-half-hour haul from Winchester, Virginia to Potomac Speedway in Southern Maryland Saturday with his McFarland Custom Painting & Wall Coverings, George’s Used Cars, Martin’s Pumping, North River Farm, Feathers & Son’s Roofing, Leggett Engine Research, Coffelt Graphics, Shane McDowell Racing, Fox Racing Shox No.27.

It didn’t take him long to pick up where he left off the week before at Hagerstown.  He was quick out of the box, logging the 4th fastest qualifying lap in the 26-car field.

A solid second-place run in his heat race put Feathers in the redraw for the 49-lap A-main.  He pulled the five pill to take the inside row three starting spot.

In the early going, Feathers simply tried to ‘hold serve’, keeping his nose clean, saving his tires, and staying away from some of the aggressive moves around him.  Mid-race he found himself in 7th but confident with the car he had under him for the last half.

Five laps in the track started to take rubber, reducing it to one good lane.  Feathers was a little underpowered, leaving him at a disadvantage getting up off the corners, but he continued to turn in a workmanlike effort to put himself in what he believed would be a good position late in the race.

His approach was paying off.  Others began experiencing late-race tire issues while Feathers had plenty left.  On a late restart, he moved his way into 3rd and battled for the runner-up spot.

The best-laid plans don’t always work out though.

With six laps remaining, a rocker arm broke in Feather’s engine, ending his night and landing him 10th in the final rundown.

“We had a decent car and thanks to patience we were in position to capitalize tonight if we had not broken a rocker arm.”, a disappointed Feathers said.

“I love to race and rubbin’ is racing but man, I swear nobody had a brake pedal out there tonight.  It was crazy.  No give and take at all.  I was trying to use my head and survive and it would have worked out if we didn’t have the engine issue.”

UP NEXT

Feathers will return to super late model action this weekend at Port Royal Speedway on Saturday night, April 20th.  This weekend, the speedway plans to use a Lucas Oil Late Model style time trial format in preparation for the series’ appearance at The Speed Palace on April 28th.

Feathers Dominates in Surprise Limited Late Model Visit to Hagerstown

Hagerstown, MD – April 9, 2024

by Addicted2Dirt PR & Media Mgmt

Trever Feathers recently encountered an opportunity to add a second Team Zero chassis to his program.  It wasn’t brand new but given the success Feathers has experienced since switching to the brand, the decision to acquire it didn’t take long.

QUICK RESULTS

DATE:  April 6, 2024

  • Class:  Limited Late Model
  • Track:  Hagerstown Speedway
  • City, State:   Hagerstown, MD
  • Quick Stats:  25 cars, Heat 1st (7), A-main 1st (7)

SURPRISE!

In little more than a week, Feathers and his team took the bare bones chassis and made it race-ready with a limited engine under the hood.

“The difference from Monday to Saturday was unbelievable.  My guys and sponsors are truly amazing.”, Feathers said of the effort by his team.

Feathers took his McFarland Custom Painting & Wall Coverings, George’s Used Cars, Martin’s Pumping, North River Farm, Feathers & Son’s Roofing, Leggett Engine Research, Coffelt Graphics, Shane McDowell Racing, Fox Racing Shox No.27 to Hagerstown Speedway on Saturday to put it to the test.

You might have noticed the number change from his usual No.20 that adorns the sides of his super late model.

“That’s the number I first started racing with, so I just thought I would bring it back for this car.”, Feathers explained.

Feathers was originally slated to start 7th in his 8-lap heat race but lineup adjustments put him inside row two for the green flag.  From the start it was clear the newly built machine was up to the task.  Feathers drove into 2nd on the opening lap, then on lap six he drove by race-long leader Kyle Lear to take over the lead.  He went on to win by 1.8 seconds.

The Winchester, VA native showed more of the same in the main event.  Once again he took the green from inside row three.  It took him only three laps to claim the top spot and he dominated the rest of the way, winning by 1.96 seconds.

UP NEXT

Feathers will load up his No.27 once again this Saturday and head to Potomac Speedway in Mechanicsville, MD for the $3,999-to-win Danny Garrett Memorial Limited Late Models Steel Block Clash.

Feathers’ Tire Misfortune Turns into Impressive Comeback at ‘Coot’ Williams Memorial

Georgetown, DE – March 30, 2024

by Addicted2Dirt PR & Media Mgmt

Trever Feathers kicked off his 2024 super late model campaign with a trip to Delaware’s Georgetown Speedway for the Mark ‘Coot’ Williams Memorial.

It was finally time to put the product of all the long winter shop hours to the test and see how their work measured up.  Based on what fans saw from Feathers Friday night, he appears to be poised for a very successful season.

QUICK RESULTS

DATE:  March 29, 2024

  • Class:  Super Late Model
  • Event:  Mark ‘Coot’ Williams Memorial
  • Track:  Georgetown Speedway
  • City, State:   Georgetown, DE
  • Quick Stats:  13 cars, Heat 3rd (4), A-main 4th (2)

CAN YOU BELIEVE IT?

Feathers’ night began with an outside row two start in his heat race.  He quickly surged into the runner-up spot but by the midpoint of the 8-lap qualifier, he had slipped to 3rd.  He rode home 3rd and it was good enough to make the redraw.

A little luck shined on Feathers during the redraw, putting him outside the front row for the 26-lap main event.  The first two attempts to get the race underway led to cautions but eventually, the race went green and the Winchester (VA) native took command.

Feathers led the first two circuits, then as he launched off turn two on lap three, disaster struck.  The left rear tire exploded.

Fortunately, he was able to maintain control and take his McFarland Custom Painting & Wall Coverings, George’s Used Cars, Martin’s Pumping, North River Farm, Feathers & Son’s Roofing, Leggett Engine Research, Coffelt Graphics No.20 to the hot pit inside turn four.

Feathers’ team bolted on a new left rear tire and sent their Team Zero Race Cars, Shane McDowell Racing, Fox Racing Shox machine back into the battle.

Over the remaining two dozen laps, Feathers chipped his way forward from the back of the field.  With four laps remaining, he was sitting in the 6th position, but a late surge rewarded the Trever Feathers Racing team with a 4th place finish for their efforts.

“Man, the car was so good tonight.  Our luck here is just unreal.”, Feathers commented, referring to a string of things that haven’t gone his way over the past several visits to Georgetown.

“I think we had the car to beat tonight.  Our Team Zero Race Car has speed and balance.  Those are positives we can take away.  I was really comfortable, so I hope that will carry forward to our next race.”

“I have to thank everyone who supports us in this deal.  We truly appreciate everyone.  We wouldn’t be able to do this without them.”

UP NEXT

Port Royal Speedway rained out once again on March 30th, which is already the third potential race lost to weather there in 2024.

Feathers is still weighing his options for next week.  Please follow Trever’s social media channels listed below for updates this week!

ABR Gets Support from Carquest and Fragola, Plus SRI and VP Increase Involvement for 2024

Mifflin, PA – March 21, 2024

by Addicted2Dirt PR & Media Mgmt

Original Photo Credit:  Chris Hockley/WRT Speedwerx

Austin Berry continues to gain support for his growing super late model program.

Those with a love and passion to succeed in the sport have a tougher job than ever before.  Modern dirt track racing requires more funds and more knowledge than ever before.  Teams spend a lot of time and effort working to acquire both of those resources to give themselves a chance at success.

Berry’s efforts on that front have been paying off.  Four more businesses have come on board for the 2024 season.

NEW MEMBERS OF THE FAMILY

Austin Berry Racing is thrilled to announce the addition of four new partners to its dirt super late model team. Carquest of State College, Fragola Performance Systems, Auto Glass Centre, and Dye It Rite have joined forces with Austin Berry Racing for the upcoming racing season.

“We are excited to welcome Carquest of State College, Fragola Performance Systems, Auto Glass Centre, and Dye It Rite to our team,” said driver Austin Berry. “Their support and partnership will be invaluable as we strive for consistent success at the track this season.”

Carquest of State College offers a wide range of automotive parts and accessories, while Fragola Performance Systems specializes in high-performance plumbing components. Auto Glass Centre provides expert auto glass repair and replacement services, and Dye It Rite offers professional vehicle customization solutions.

“We are proud to support Austin Berry Racing and look forward to seeing their continued success on the track,” said a representative from Carquest of State College.

INCREASED INVOLVEMENT

Berry is also pleased to announce that supporters SRI Performance and VP Racing Fuels, who have been with him the past few seasons, have increased their involvement for the 2024 racing season.

“We are grateful for the continued support of SRI Performance and VP Racing Fuels,” said Berry. “Their increased commitment shows they believe in what we are doing on and off the track.  Their added support will be instrumental in our pursuit of success on the track this season.”

SRI Performance is a leading supplier of high-performance racing parts, components, and accessories, while VP Racing Fuels is a renowned provider of racing fuels and lubricants.

“It’s always exciting to form partnerships with race teams across the country!  Meeting new teams gives us the ability to network and collaborate outside of our home area of Mooresville, NC.”, said Randy Keene, technical sales motorsports engineer/marketing for SRI Performance.

“We look forward to working with the very talented Austin Berry and his entire Austin Berry Racing team!  As we continue to grow our brand and name through this partnership, we also hope to open doors for Austin to procure other sponsorship and relationship opportunities along the way!  Best of luck, Austin, from all of your partners at SRI Performance, Stock Car Steel and Aluminum, SRI Used Parts, and SRI Indy!”

In addition, Juniata Veterinary Clinic, Berry’s Siding and Seamless Gutters, and Nathan Berry Beef Farm are all returning as marketing partners, along with numerous product sponsors.

More information will be released in the near future about Berry’s plans for the 2024 season.  Follow Addicted2DirtPR on all social media platforms and all of Austin Berry Racing’s social media outlets to be sure to get that information as soon as it is available!

Strong Opening Weekend Shows Promise for 2024 and Lane Snook Racing

York Haven, PA – March 18, 2024

by Derick Kriner / Addicted2Dirt PR & Media Mgmt

Photo Credit:  Jeremy Zarfos / WRT Speedwerx

The green flag flew on the 2024 racing season, this past Saturday, for the Mifflintown late model driver. Lane Snook entered into his first race of the year, at BAPS Motor Speedway, after having completed some practice nights at the 4/10 mile oval during the offseason. Practice sure appeared to pay off for the young 15-year-old, who enters into his second year of late model competition.

QUICK RESULTS

DATE:  March 16, 2024

  • Division:  Limited Late Model
  • Track:  BAPS Motor Speedway
  • City, State:   York Haven, PA
  • Stats: 20 cars, Heat 1st (1), A-main 2nd/DQ (8)

“The day was good,” stated Lane, “Drew a good pill, started on the pole of the heat, and led every lap,” which put the 23 car into the redraw. “Pulled a 10 in the redraw for the feature and somehow started 8th.”

Once the green flag dropped on the 20-lap feature, Lane was able to maneuver his way up into the top 5 and continued to pass cars throughout the race. “Car started to get good at the end of the race and got into second coming to the white and ended up there.” A good performance for the driver entering his sophomore year behind the wheel of a late model.

While trouble didn’t occur during the race, an issue in post-race technical inspection put a slight damper on a stellar first showing of the season. A track rule, disallowing crank triggers, nullified the 2nd place effort. “We didn’t realize that was the only track around that doesn’t allow crank triggers, so the DQ was our own fault for not reading the rules close enough.”

Though a disappointment, Snook stated, “We’ll go back in a few weeks and try to beat them fair and square.” Some added motivation to prove to the field that the technical infraction wasn’t the sole reason for the podium finish.

A positive run had the teenager excited and optimistic for the 2024 season and he mentioned that his goals for the season were to “win a few races at a couple tracks and get more seat time in the super [late model] car at BAPS when they practice on Wednesday nights.”

Gaining more experience throughout the season and improving upon his short career in the Limited Late Model division, are a goal of the former kart standout. In the years prior to his rookie season in 2023, in the Central PA Limited Late Models, Snook accumulated nearly 150 go-kart wins throughout the eastern portion of the United States. Winning in over 7 states, along with 5 state championships and 2 track championships.

The third-generation driver looks up to his dad who raced for years prior to Lane jumping in the seat. “He has taught me everything I know. I’ve watched how hard he has worked over the years, and I appreciate everything he does for me.” One of those learned skills that Lane got from his dad, is “looking in front of me and staying out of wrecks that happen around me.” This part of his race craft is something that the Mifflintown driver feels he does best. That ability to look forward and avoid helped propel Snook to multiple top-five finishes at several local tracks, and 5 Hard Charger Awards in his rookie year.

Lane will look past this weekend’s DQ, and focus on the long season out in front of him. With goals to continue to make improvements, and gain valuable experience the 2024 season is hopefully one of promise for the 23 car. The team plans to race next at Port Royal Speedway on March 23rd & 30th, as the Limited Late Models make their return to the Juniata County half mile.

Lane and the team would like to thank all their partners, sponsors, and equipment manufacturers for helping them get on track in 2024. Thanks to Grassmyer Auctioneering, MHT Transport, Fryeco Fabrication, Ritchey Sandblasting, Dyers Top Rods, Mexico Ridge Beef Farms, The Olde Hatchery, Juniata Beverage, Byers Racing Engines, Scheaffer Racing Oil, and Superfly Shocks.
