Ashley Cappetta Racing is pleased to announce that the Gettysburg Trading Post has signed on as the team’s main sponsor for the 2024 racing season. This will be the 13th season that the Gettysburg Trading Post has teamed up with ACR, their partnership started in 2012 during Ashley’s first year competing.

The Gettysburg Trading Post moved into ACR’s main sponsor spot for the 2021 season which means they have priority for any community events that ACR attends and prominent branding on the trailer, the car, and Ashley’s fire suits. “It’s really nice to have someone that believes in me through the good and the bad. There’s been a lot of good but also a lot of bad, but for someone to stick by me through the ugly – I don’t think I’d be where I am without Shawn and the Trading Post,” Cappetta shared.

Cappetta has enjoyed seeing the Gettysburg Trading Post grow and expand alongside of ACR and said, “Shawn and the Trading Post started small and progressed to the main sponsor, which I am truly forever grateful for. As their sponsorship has grown, so has their business. It’s been nice to see them move into a larger facility and build a good business.”

12th Annual “A night at the Races” Fundraising Event Set for February 10

In addition to gearing up for the on-track action in 2024, Cappetta is also putting the final pieces in place for her 12th annual “A Night at the Races” fundraising event on Saturday, February 10. Tickets are available in advance and at the door (unless sold out prior to the event) for $30. Doors open at 5PM at the Irishtown Fire Company (934 Irishtown Rd., New Oxford, PA). Every fan in attendance will receive a shirt, a reusable grocery bag and a can coozie. The event includes a silent auction, raffles, a live auction, and much more.

Some of the items to be auctioned off in the live auction are a race used and autographed Freddie Rahmer helmet, James McFadden #83 autographed wing panel, Steve Wilbur race used helmet, Cory Haas #11c wing panel, Don Kreitz Jr wing panel, nose wing from the #69K autographed by Lance Dewease, Davey Brown and Don Kreitz Jr and a James McFadden KKR #9 autographed wing panel.

Another aspect of the event that allows fans to take home extra cash is the “Racers Challenge.” Fans compete via the World of Outlaws video game with $350 going to first place, $200 for second, $100 for third, $75 for fourth, and $50 for fifth. There is a payoff for non-qualifiers as well. The “Racers Challenge” is sponsored by Livingston Lawn Care, Snelbecker Electric, Racing Through Time Racing Collectibles, and ACR.

In addition to the raffle baskets, there will be a large raffle with multiple top prizes including a Mossberg 500 Retrograde Field 12 gauge shotgun, 36-inch blackstone grill, a bushel of crabs from RIPS, and Michael Kors purse plus 6 other prizes.

Ashley Cappetta Racing merchandise will be available for purchase at the event. 2023 merchandise will be discounted and it will be fans’ first opportunity to buy 2024 merchandise.

The fundraiser will also be the official kick-off of the 20th Annual Weldon Sterner Memorial. The $ 20,000-to-win race was originally scheduled for the 2023 racing season, but Mother Nature forced it to be moved to Saturday, April 20, 2024.

Cappetta and Team Continue to Learn

Looking to Finish the Season Strong

Abbottstown, PA – September 7, 2023

by Emily Winslow / Addicted2Dirt PR & Media Mgmt

Ashley and the Cappetta Racing Team had a decent night at Lincoln Speedway on Saturday which allowed them to continue to add to their extensive notebook on the new tires.

QUICK RESULTS

DATE:  September 2, 2023

  • Event:  Kick-Off to the Classic
  • Track:  Lincoln Speedway
  • City, State:   Abbottstown, PA
  • Quick Stats:  24 cars, Heat 7th [5], A-main 14th [20]

FRUSTRATING HEAT RACE TO START THE NIGHT

Ashley Cappetta and the Gettysburg Trading Post, Mike’s Towing and Recovery, Yesteryear Antique Center, Stoner’s Auction, O’Brien’s Fuel and Service, Iron Horse Trains, Republican Club of Hanover No. 89 were back in action at Lincoln Speedway on Saturday for the Kick-off to the Classic.

Cappetta’s pill draw lined her up fifth for her heat race. And what a heat race it was. Contact was made as Cappetta and her competitors raced hard for position. Ashley lost momentum in the fight for position and the track changed halfway through the 10 lap heat, “The last half of the heat race, we didn’t have the car set up for the conditions and the car started to fade.” With 24 cars on hand everyone qualified for the feature so Cappetta would have a chance to turn the night around in the feature after a frustrating heat race.

“I got a good start in the feature and passed two cars in the first lap,” but then the caution came out. “I think if we would have stayed green, I would have done better, I had good momentum. After the caution I couldn’t get rolling like I was before the yellow.” The team did change the set up from the week prior and the car felt more drivable, “I was still getting a little bit of wheel spin off of turn 4.” With the week off the team will look into combatting the wheel spin issue.

CAPPETTA AND TEAM LOOK TO CLOSE OUT THE SEASON STRONG

With two races left on the season Cappetta and the team would love a win but right now they are focused on finding a set up that makes Ashley feel the most comfortable so they can come out of the gate strong to kick-off next season, “A top five or a win would be great, but right now comfort is my number one priority.” Cappetta has had conversations with many other teams and the new tire has evolved throughout the year, “We would like to not fight the tires all year again next year.”

The first race on tap is the Montieth Classic, “Montieth was a favorite of mine and I miss seeing him race.” And then the Weldon Sterner Memorial will close out the season, “As much as this race means to me, for me to end up in victory lane with Pat, that would mean a lot to share that moment again.”

Stay tuned to Cappetta’s social media accounts, as well as Addicted2DirtPR.com/Events for the most up to date schedule information.

Cappetta Has Trying Night at Lincoln

Feels Like Teams Takes One Step Forward and Two Steps Back

Abbottstown, PA – August 30, 2023

by Emily Winslow / Addicted2Dirt PR & Media Mgmt

Ashley and the Cappetta Racing Team had a trying night at Lincoln Speedway for the Kramer Klash.

  • Date:  August 26, 2023
  • Event:  Kramer Klash
  • Track:  Lincoln Speedway
  • City, State:   Abbottstown, PA
  • Quick Stats:  29 cars, Heat 9th [9], A-main DNQ

New Tire Continues to Plague Cappetta and Team

Ashley Cappetta and the Gettysburg Trading Post, Mike’s Towing and Recovery, Yesteryear Antique Center, Stoner’s Auction, O’Brien’s Fuel and Service, Iron Horse Trains, Republican Club of Hanover No. 89 were back in action at Lincoln Speedway on Saturday for the Kramer Klash.

When asked to give an assessment of Saturday night at Lincoln, Ashley’s first response was, “Saturday was no good.” After two solid weekends at the track, Cappetta and the team failed to qualify for the feature for the first time this season, “Knowing we did well the past two weeks, it feels like we take one step forward and then two steps back.” While the new tire compound continues to challenge Ashley and the team, there were other factors in play on Saturday that contributed to the team’s struggles, “Some of it was me overdriving the car and some of it was track conditions. I had no drive off both corners due to wheel spin.” The team was also down a crew member. Some teams are sticking with the older compound but Ashley and the team agree switching back would just be a temporary band-aid until the new tires likely become mandatory next season.

Cappetta Takes Time to Reset After Rough Night

After a rough day, or in this case, a rough night, sometimes the best thing to do is to get away to mentally reset and that is exactly what Ashley did on Sunday, “The best thing that happened to me over the weekend was getting away and going to a concert on Sunday night. It got me away from the car and thinking about Saturday night.” Cappetta spent the night focused on the music with some of the lyrics really hitting home, “It was a good time and a much needed break.”

Teams Face Challenges Every Week That Fans Don’t See

There were quite a few factors in play that affected Cappetta, the car and the team, “On Saturday night fans saw a bad handling car but they don’t understand why or what happened.” During the week Ashley and the team worked in the shop measuring, testing and looking over everything, which is something the fans don’t get to see. The team thought they had found a way to make improvements but when they got to the track, it turns out the team was wrong, or there was more wrong than they thought with the car. It also could have been a bad batch of tires which makes it incredibly difficult for teams to pinpoint what is wrong, especially in the middle of a busy race night.

Stay tuned to Cappetta’s social media accounts, as well as Addicted2DirtPR.com/Events for the most up to date schedule information.

Cappetta Scores First Top 10 of the Season

Team Puts Together Solid Night in the Pigeon Hills

Abbottstown, PA – August 24, 2023

by Emily Winslow / Addicted2Dirt PR & Media Mgmt

Ashley and the Cappetta Racing Team put together a solid night that ended with a top 10 finish for the first time this season at the Barry Skelly Memorial.

  • Date:  August 19, 2023
  • Event:  Barry Skelly Memorial
  • Track:  Lincoln Speedway
  • City, State:   Abbottstown, PA
  • Quick Stats:  25 cars, Heat 4th [6], A-main 8th [8]

Cappetta Finishes Eighth; Best Finish of the Season

Ashley Cappetta and the Gettysburg Trading Post, Mike’s Towing and Recovery, Yesteryear Antique Center, Stoner’s Auction, O’Brien’s Fuel and Service, Iron Horse Trains, Republican Club of Hanover No. 89 were back in action at Lincoln Speedway on Saturday for the Barry Skelly Memorial.

Cappetta’s night started with a pill draw of 43 which usually would not be a great way to kick things off, but the number 43 holds a special place in Ashley’s heart, and she did not allow herself to be defeated as the number 43 kept appearing to her and her crew throughout the night. Cappetta lined up sixth for her heat race and drove her way up to fourth putting her in a redraw spot. Ashley drew the 8 for the start of the 25-lap Summer Series feature. Cappetta got up to fifth early in the race, “The track in the beginning was good and then I felt like I just protected my position for the second half of the race.” After running fifth for a few laps, Cappetta got passed and sent back to sixth where she would run until a caution on lap 16, the cautions hurt us.” Ashley would finish where she started in eighth, for her first top 10 and best finish of the season.

New Tires Continue to Challenge Cappetta

Despite a solid finish, the new Hoosier tires continue to throw a curve ball at Cappetta and the team, “The tires faded, and I wasn’t as comfortable at the end of the race.” In addition to the tires at the end of the race, Cappetta has been fighting a shoulder injury, “Those extra five laps hurt because of my shoulder, but I’m happy to be able to finish where we did.” Ashley said that the new tires aren’t as noticeable in the shorter heat races, but when it comes to the feature, there is definitely a difference, “We need to figure out the extra adjustments to make me comfortable through the entire night and feature.” Each week the team is learning something new when it comes to the tires. It is worth noting that this tire change came just as teams were finally getting comfortable with the new wing.

Cappetta Plugging Away at Weldon Sterner Memorial

Things are starting to fall into place for the Weldon Sterner Memorial at Lincoln Speedway on October 14 and Ashley has been hard at work behind the scenes. Sponsors are still rolling in and Ashley and Pat Sterner are still looking for a few more partners to put together the vision they have for the 20th anniversary of the race, “We have some exciting things planned for the fans and the racers that we can’t wait to share.”

Stay tuned to Cappetta’s social media accounts, as well as Addicted2DirtPR.com/Events for the most up to date schedule information.

Double Header Weekend for Cappetta

Back at the Grove for the First Time in Two Years

Abbottstown, PA – August 3, 2023

by Emily Winslow / Addicted2Dirt PR & Media Mgmt

Ashley and the Cappetta Racing Team put together a two-race weekend for the first time since 2021, competing at both Williams Grove and Lincoln.

  • Date:  July 28, 2023
  • Event:  York County Racing Club Night/MacMore Construction LLC Summer Series
  • Track:  Williams Grove Speedway
  • City, State:   Mechanicsburg, PA
  • Quick Stats:  25 cars, Heat 7th [6], A-main 23rd [21]

  • Date:  July 29, 2023
  • Event:  Rack Daddies Rumble presented by L & M Tire and Wheel
  • Track:  Lincoln Speedway
  • City, State:   Abbottstown, PA
  • Quick Stats:  28 cars, Heat 5th [2], A-main 11th [13]

Rough Return to the Grove for Cappetta

Ashley Cappetta and the Gettysburg Trading Post, Mike’s Towing and Recovery, Yesteryear Antique Center, Stoner’s Auction, O’Brien’s Fuel and Service, Iron Horse Trains, Republican Club of Hanover No. 89 were back in action twice this weekend racing at both Williams Grove and Lincoln.

Cappetta and the team made their return to Williams Grove Speedway on Friday night after last racing at the famous paper clip in 2021. For once Cappetta was not disappointed with a high pill draw, “Since I hadn’t been there in a while, I was comfortable starting in the back.” Hitting the track for the first time in two years, Ashley felt comfortable in warm ups and then in the heat race the struggles started, “I was struggling in the corners finding my comfort spot. The Grove is demanding and if you don’t race there enough, you’re going to struggle.” Unfortunately, Cappetta’s feature was cut short when she got tangled up with a spinning car.

Cappetta’s 11th Place Finish is Best of Season

Cappetta finally had the opportunity to start up front in her heat race with a decent pill draw to kick things off on Saturday night at Lincoln. Ashley finished the heat race fifth, making the feature. Cappetta and the team went to work on the car and made some adjustments, “We made some adjustments after learning from the heat race and that seemed to help.” Ashley had a good start that unfortunately got called back, “I wish the initial start would have stuck. I had passed two or three cars.” Once the field lined up for the restart Cappetta went to work and eventually moved off the bottom to get around a car taking her out of her comfort zone. Saturday’s finish of 11th is Cappetta’s best finish of the season so far.

Solid Saturday Night Helped Boost Confidence

After struggling at the Grove on Friday night, putting together a night at Lincoln on Saturday which resulted in Ashley’s best finish of the season was just what the doctor ordered, “Saturday night’s feature helped bring my confidence back.” Not having put together a two-race weekend in over two years it was definitely not an easy feat for Cappetta and the team, “I give drivers credit that race multiple times a week on a regular basis, it is demanding and exhausting.” Moving forward the team has decided to focus on Lincoln for the rest of the year.

Stay tuned to Cappetta’s social media accounts, as well as Addicted2DirtPR.com/Events for the most up to date schedule information.

Cappetta and Team Continue to Make Gains

Cappetta Matches Season Best Finish

Abbottstown, PA – July 19, 2023

by Emily Winslow / Addicted2Dirt PR & Media Mgmt

Ashley and the Cappetta Racing Team put together a solid night despite starting off yet again with a high pill draw.

  • Date:  July 15, 2023
  • Event:  Dean’s Auto Plaza Night
  • Track:  Lincoln Speedway
  • City, State:   Abbottstown, PA
  • Quick Stats:  33 cars, Heat 4th [8], A-main 13th [16]

Cappetta and the Team Had the Car on Rails

Ashley Cappetta and the Gettysburg Trading Post, Mike’s Towing and Recovery, Yesteryear Antique Center, Stoner’s Auction, O’Brien’s Fuel and Service, Iron Horse Trains, Republican Club of Hanover No. 89 were back in action on Saturday night at Lincoln Speedway for Dean’s Auto Plaza Night.

After another high pill draw to start off the night, Cappetta lined up eighth for her heat race. Just as Ashley had driven her way into a transfer spot, she got caught up in an incident in turns 3 and 4, sending her back to the rear, “The car was on absolute rails before the contact in the heat. The car did not feel as good as it did before the spin out.” Cappetta rejoined the heat race with some nose wing damage which threw the car off a little bit. Ashley was still able to get back into a qualifying spot putting her in the feature, “If we would have stayed green third could have been possible.”

Another Solid Feature Run for Cappetta

Cappetta lined up 16th for the start of the 20-lap feature was running 14th on lap 4, “We moved forward, but not as far forward as I wanted to.” With four laps to go, Ashley made the pass for 13th, which is where she would finish, “I had a little bit of wheel spin coming off of turn 4. The car felt great, but I just couldn’t get past the wheel spin, it was just enough to throw me off.” Ashley’s 13th place finish matched her season best finish that came at BAPS on May 27th.

Cappetta and Team Making Gains

Everything went well in the feature for Cappetta on Saturday despite two set-backs to start off the night with a high pill draw and getting caught up in an incident in the heat race, “We are making gains every week and looking forward to comparing notes to last week to see what we can put together for the rest of the season.” Cappetta has a positive outlook for the second half of the season, “We are slowly getting there, we just need a good pill draw to seal the deal.”

Stay tuned to Cappetta’s social media accounts, as well as Addicted2DirtPR.com/Events for the most up to date schedule information.

Cappetta Comfortable Behind the Wheel After Summer Break

Team Heading in the Right Direction

Abbottstown, PA – July 12, 2023

by Emily Winslow / Addicted2Dirt PR & Media Mgmt

The Cappetta Racing Team had a solid car on the track Saturday night at Lincoln Speedway, but rough pill draw had them playing catch up all night.

  • Date:  July 8, 2023
  • Event:  Hanover Building Systems Night
  • Track:  Lincoln Speedway
  • City, State:   Abbottstown, PA
  • Quick Stats:  36 cars, Heat 4th [7], A-main 15th [16]

Cappetta Plagued by Pill Draw Again

Ashley Cappetta and the Gettysburg Trading Post, Mike’s Towing and Recovery, Yesteryear Antique Center, Stoner’s Auction, O’Brien’s Fuel and Service, Iron Horse Trains, Republican Club of Hanover No. 89 were back in action on Saturday night at Lincoln Speedway for Hanover Building Systems Night.

Cappetta and the team started the night off with yet another subpar pill draw.  The high pill had Ashley start seventh in her heat race. Despite starting towards the back Cappetta’s car carried good speed, “I haven’t had a car that drivable since 2019.” With the car in good shape, Ashley finished fourth in her heat race, putting her in the feature.

Third Time Isn’t the Charm for Cappetta

Ashley started the 20-lap feature from the sixteenth starting spot. Unfortunately, it took three tries to get a lap in, “I carried speed coming out of turns 1 and 2 on the initial start, then on the second start I got up to fifteenth. The third start I stayed where I started.”

With the field being shifted for each start, Cappetta felt more comfortable starting on the outside, which is where she started for the initial start and the first restart. The final restart Cappetta restarted on the inside and despite feeling comfortable for the first five laps, she could not get a good run on Chris Frank. Once Frank pulled in Cappetta could get to where she needed on the track and spent most of the feature racing hard with veteran driver, Steve Owings.

“I got to see how Steve runs and his entry points. I think we could have passed him if I hadn’t showed him my nose.” Owings had the advantage in turns 1 and 2 but Cappetta was able to make up some ground in turns 3 and 4 through the middle. Cappetta crossed the line fifteenth, matching her best finish at Lincoln so far this year.

Cappetta Regrouped and Went Back to Basics

With nearly a month off from racing for Cappetta and the 358 Sprint Car division, Cappetta and the team took some time to regroup, “We switched all of our tires out to the new tire and I took some time to focus on running my business and spent time with family.”

Ashley also spent time with her original crew chief talking and comparing notes on how her season has played out so far, “After chatting with him we started back with the basics and the car felt a lot better. Overall, we are heading in the right direction we just need some luck and to put together a solid night.” Cappetta is looking forward to getting back to Lincoln on Saturday to see the full results of how good the car felt this past weekend.

Stay tuned to Cappetta’s social media accounts, as well as Addicted2DirtPR.com/Events for the most up to date schedule information.

Double Features a Night to Forget for Cappetta

Looking to Rebound Once Racing Action Resumes

Abbottstown, PA – June 14, 2023

by Emily Winslow / Addicted2Dirt PR & Media Mgmt

Cappetta and team faced a tough night at Lincoln that included two features. Ashley and the team are looking to regroup and return to the track stronger in July.

  • Date:  June 10, 2023
  • Event:  Elijah Hawkins Memorial
  • Track:  Lincoln Speedway
  • City, State:   Abbottstown, PA
  • Quick Stats:  6/3 Make-up Feature: 15th [13]; 6/10 Feature: 34 cars, Heat 6th [4], A-main 23th [23]

Steve Smith Make-up Feature Starts Off Night

Ashley Cappetta and the Gettysburg Trading Post, Mike’s Towing and Recovery, Yesteryear Antique Center, Stoner’s Auction, O’Brien’s Fuel and Service, Iron Horse Trains, Republican Club of Hanover No. 89 were back in action on Saturday night at Lincoln Speedway for the Steve Smith Tribute Race make-up feature and the Elijah Hawkins Memorial.

Cappetta lined up thirteenth for the start of the Steve Smith Tribute make-up feature, which was her best starting spot of the season. With the recent dry spell, Cappetta went into the night thinking the track would suit her driving style, a dry slick track is when she thrives. The track ended up not being in her wheelhouse, “I wasn’t comfortable at all. If there hadn’t been a caution I probably could have held on to 12th, but I got tight in turns 3 and 4 after the caution and got pushed up to the fence. That allowed cars to get under me and I ended up 15th.” With her hopes set on a top 10, the make-up feature results already had Cappetta and the team behind the eight ball to start off the night.

Cappetta Fights Car and Track Throughout the Night

For the first time of the season, Cappetta had a decent pill draw to start off a show. A crew member drew the 32 pill which was a positive on a night of not so positive results. Ashley started the heat fourth and had a good initial start, “I lost a handle in turns 3 and 4 but had good entry into turn 1.” Cappetta spun out in her heat race and would cross the line sixth, one spot shy of a transfer spot.

The team changed gears for the B-main, “I still was not comfortable with the car but we ended up third.” The reason for the gear changes was wheel spin, “I had a lot of wheel spin through turns 3 and 4 and to the flag stand.” Cappetta’s third place finish in the B-main lined her up 23rd for the Elijah Hawkins Memorial feature. The team changed the gears again for the feature, “The gear change for the feature slowed the car down too much. We just weren’t any good.” Cappetta finished the feature where she started, 23rd.

Team Looks to Come Back Stronger

“It’s not easy to throw a night like this in the trash. We want to know what it was that went wrong.” The team opted to use the old tire compound as Saturday was the final night, they could run them at Lincoln this season and that decision could have been a factor in how their night went. Another culprit could have been a shock, so the team planned to test the shocks back at the shop. A torsion bar could also have played a part in how tough it was to handle the car. In the end the team found that a torsion bar had gone bad after looking over the car at the shop on Monday.

With some extended time off before the next race on Cappetta’s schedule, the team may head to BAPS to test the car before the next race. Ashley and the team will look to continue their march forward when they return to the track, “I felt like the weeks leading up to Saturday we had been moving in the right direction.”

Stay tuned to Cappetta’s social media accounts, as well as Addicted2DirtPR.com/Events for the most up to date schedule information.

The Republican Club of Hanover was launched by Lawrence B. Sheppard. In principle, it served as a gathering place on the second floor of the Old Bon Ton building on the square. It was located at 10 and 12 Carlisle Street, or above what is currently the pet shop. The original liquor license was purchased on October 30, 1935. Through socials and feeds, Republicans met to bond, connect, and develop relationships with each other. Members enjoyed activities such as bowling, pool, and poker. Many years later property was purchased and the facility was moved to its current location at 255 West Chestnut Street in 1968.

Rain Puts a Halt on Racing at Lincoln

Double Features Up Next

Abbottstown, PA – June 7, 2023

by Emily Winslow / Addicted2Dirt PR & Media Mgmt

Rain shortened the night at Lincoln Speedway on Saturday, making this coming Saturday a double feature event for Cappetta and the 358 sprint cars.

  • Date:  June 3, 2023
  • Event:  Steve Smith Tribute Race
  • Track:  Lincoln Speedway
  • City, State:   Abbottstown, PA
  • Quick Stats:  29 cars, Heat 5th [8], A-main TBD [13]

Cappetta Put Together a Solid Night Before the Rain Fell

Ashley Cappetta and the Gettysburg Trading Post, Mike’s Towing and Recovery, Yesteryear Antique Center, Stoner’s Auction, O’Brien’s Fuel and Service, Iron Horse Trains, Republican Club of Hanover No. 89 were back in action on Saturday night at Lincoln Speedway.

Cappetta passed the pill draw responsibility on to her dad this weekend, but it did not change the team’s luck as he drew the 46 pill. The draw put Ashley in the eighth starting spot for her heat race, “I felt pretty good in the heat race and actually passed two cars at once. I started to get a little uncomfortable towards the end but still pulled off a fifth place finish.” Cappetta fell back to ninth on the initial start after getting pelted with mud, but gathered herself back up and went to work. After passing two cars at once, Cappetta passed a single car and then with another car breaking, Ashley crossed the line fifth. Her heat race finish had her lined up for her best starting spot of the year but unfortunately the rain came, ending the night early. Saturday night’s feature will be made up this weekend, making it a double feature event for Cappetta and the 358 sprint cars.

Cappetta Working Hard on Weldon Sterner Race Promotion

The 20th Weldon Sterner Tribute Race is scheduled for October 13th, the season finale at Lincoln. Cappetta is hard at work helping to make the race the biggest it’s ever been, “We have a lot of things planned to make the race special for the fans and the racers.” Ashley’s Dad knew Pat Sterner and asked her about sponsoring Ashley when she first started racing, “Pat became one of my first sponsors. The fact that she was willing to give me money to pursue my racing dream meant a lot to me.”

The Weldon Sterner race has always been a highlight on Lincoln’s schedule and with Cappetta’s drive to give back to people and her relationship with Pat it was a no brainer for her to step up. The goal is to raise $20,000 for the winner of the 410 feature but Cappetta is also working on raising more money for the 358 sprint division as well.

Double Features Up Next

Cappetta originally had Williams Grove on her schedule for this coming Friday, but with scheduling conflicts for her crew that race has been removed. Cappetta will be racing on Saturday night at Lincoln for the Elijah Hawkins Memorial which will consist of the make-up feature from June 3 and a full program for the 358 sprint cars.

Stay tuned to Cappetta’s social media accounts, as well as Addicted2DirtPR.com/Events for the most up to date schedule information.

Cappetta Takes Stepping Out of Her Comfort Zone in Stride

First Trip to BAPS in Five Years

Abbottstown, PA – May 31, 2023

by Emily Winslow / Addicted2Dirt PR & Media Mgmt

Ashley Cappetta made her first trip back to BAPS Motor Speedway in five years to compete in the Summer Series event on Saturday night.

  • Date:  May 27, 2023
  • Event:  358 Summer Series Dirty 30
  • Track:  BAPS Motor Speedway
  • City, State:   Newberrytown, PA
  • Quick Stats:  29 cars, Heat 6th [8], A-main 13th [18]

Cappetta Puts Together Solid Night in Return to BAPS

Ashley Cappetta and the Gettysburg Trading Post, Mike’s Towing and Recovery, Yesteryear Antique Center, Stoner’s Auction, O’Brien’s Fuel and Service, Iron Horse Trains, Republican Club of Hanover No. 89 were back in action on Saturday night at BAPS Motor Speedway.

Cappetta’s bad pill draw gremlin was back as she picked the highest pill available to start the night, but she did not let that put a damper on her spirits. Her pill draw put her in a solid group for timed hot laps which would line up the heat races. Ashley started eighth in her heat race and would cross the line sixth, putting her in the feature, “I didn’t feel great in the heat race. I got lucky since other people screwed up. The car wasn’t tight enough and trying to find a groove I was comfortable in was challenging.”

Ashley lined up eighteenth for the start of the feature and fell back to 23rd, “I stayed up top but there wasn’t much there so I fell back to 23rd.” Cappetta and the team took advantage of an open red during the feature to make some adjustments to the car, “We made the car tighter when we had the chance and once everyone got spread out, I started to do what I needed to do.” Cappetta got confident with 17 laps to go and drove her way up to finish 13th.

Plenty of Positives to Take Away From BAPS

One of Cappetta’s goals for 2023 was to get out her comfort zone and she did just that on Saturday night with a trip to BAPS, “We went in blind. The last time I was there we were still using the 358 wing.” The night started with timed hot laps, which were used to set the heat race line-ups. In addition to the new track, the team pulled out a car they haven’t run since last year for Saturday night.

“At the end of the night we made the show and took the car home in one piece,” which meant Ashley and the team accomplished the goals they set out to achieve for the night. In addition to meeting their goals they also have a solid notebook for the next time they race at BAPS. “Honestly, I want to do this more, it definitely helped me to learn and gain confidence as a driver.”

Steve Smith Tribute Race Up Next

A race that is near the dear to Ashley’s heart, the Steve Smith Tribute Race, is up next. “I’m putting a lot of pressure on myself for this race, my dad worked for Steve and now Stevie does my brakes. My expectation is to win, but overall wanting to do well will be our number 1 priority.” This will be the first time the 358 sprints are a part of the tribute race, “I want to do well for Steve and I want to do well for my dad.”

Stay tuned to Cappetta’s social media accounts, as well as Addicted2DirtPR.com/Events for the most up to date schedule information.
