Kyle Keen spent the offseason working relentlessly on every aspect of his program.  He, his father Shawn and other team members put together a complete 358 sprint car and a complete 410 sprint car, making sure every detail was how they wanted it.

On top of that, he invested significant time and effort on the marketing side of his program, bringing in a new partner, Hess Auctioneering, to continue building his resources.  He also participated in multiple testing sessions in the weeks leading up to his season opening race.

To say Keen couldn’t wait to hit the track for competitive action to reap some rewards would be a huge understatement.

QUICK RESULTS

DATE:  March 24, 2024

  • Division:  358 Sprint Cars
  • Track:  BAPS Motor Speedway
  • City, State:   Abbottstown, PA
  • Stats:  20 cars, Heat 5th (5), A-main 13th (4)

POSITIVES TO BUILD ON

Keen’s day kicked off with a respectable 5th place run in his heat race.  The car was good but passing was difficult on the still narrow racing surface early in the show.

It was good enough to make the redraw though and that paid off nicely.

Keen started 4th in the 20-lap A-main and showed his dominance from the drop of the green.  He charged to the front to lead the opening lap.  He remained out in front and began to stretch his lead to a very comfortable margin.

The opening half of the main event was solid proof that Keen and his team had certainly put in the work during the offseason.  He was fast.

Keen led the first 12 laps of the 20-lap feature but the potential victory slipped away with one mistake and a tough lesson learned.

“That was a tough one to swallow.”, a disappointed Keen said.  “We were really good.  I felt like the win was ours but I made a mistake running the top and it cost us a win.  Lesson learned.”

Despite falling short of the result Keen felt his car was capable of, he was very encouraged by the speed and balance the car had.

“Can’t thank my wife, my dad and mom, my crew, and my sponsors for sticking with me through learning curves like this.  I will be better next time and hopefully we can get that first 358 win this year.”, Keen said.

UP NEXT

Williams Grove Speedway will kick off their 358 sprint car schedule Friday night, March 29th and Kyle Keen will be in attendance.

Hess Auctioneers Joins Forces With Kyle Keen Motorsports for 2024

Carlisle, PA – March 12, 2023

by Addicted2Dirt PR & Media Mgmt

Kyle Keen Motorsports is excited to announce the addition of the mid-Atlantic region’s premier truck, trailer, and equipment auction company, Hess Auctioneers, to their team and racing family.

“We believe the racing community will be a great audience for us to connect with and we believe Kyle (Keen) is the right guy to help us do it.  He puts a lot of care and effort into his marketing relationships to make sure it’s a win-win for everyone involved.”, said Hess Auctioneers General Manager Bill Troop.

THE HESS EXPERIENCE

Hess Auctioneers offers consignment and specialty auctions at their convenient, outdoor open-air venue, which is conveniently located close to Harrisburg, Lancaster, and York.  Hess Auctioneers also offers commercial fleet liquidations.  Hess makes it simple:  You call them, and they sell it.

A key reason the Hess customer experience is different is the four days of preview availability, more than any competitor.  Their auction site is secure and allows consignors to bring their equipment to the site in advance of the auctions so buyers can thoroughly preview the inventory.

The in-person auction experience with Hess is second to none.  The company has introduced “Hess Report”, inspection by a certified mechanic, onsite detailing service and transport of trucks, trailers and equipment.   The company has added sales and office staff to help consignors through the process of selling at auction.

“Our success is due in part to our focus on personal customer service and continually improving the auction experience,” stated Troop.

“We work with our consignors individually to set them up for success.  We are passionate about getting our/their inventory exposed to the correct audience.”

The company has grown from five one-ring auctions to six multi-ring auctions, which attract over one thousand cataloged items and hundreds of skid lot items including transportation, construction, and commercial-related tools, parts, and excess inventory.

Hess Auctioneers also offer ‘Hess Bid’, an online bidding option.  You can expose your items to a World Wide Market!  Online purchasing has become a standard in the industry and Hess is preparing to launch a new website for their custom experience very soon.  Hess has had buyers from all over the world participating in their auctions. Online bidding is currently offered through www.hessbid.com, www.EquipmentFacts.com, and www.proxibid.com.

Auction dates for 2024 at Hess Auctioneers are April 12th, June 14th, August 9th, October 11th and December 6th.  Regardless of whether you may be a seller, a buyer, or both, give them a call to get started with the best equipment auction experience you’ll ever have.

BUILDING A PARTNERSHIP

Keen will represent Hess Auctioneers with both 358 and 410 sprint car schedules for his team in 2024.

“We are thrilled that Hess has chosen to work with our team to promote their great company.  We have already had a few meetings with Bill, Hayley and the team at Hess.  Everyone is energized by the ideas that are coming out of the discussions.”, Keen said of the new partnership.

“It already feels like we have known them for a long time.  I think that’s how they make their customers feel too, which explains why they have been so successful.”

Keen and the team from Hess are already working on some unique projects aimed at promoting the auction company’s unique benefits for customers, as well as some ideas for race fans and employees.  Stay tuned to Kyle Keen Motorsports’ social media outlets for more information in the coming weeks and months!

Keen will take part in a couple of upcoming test sessions in his Fine Line Auto Body, Hess Bid/Hess Auctioneers, Keen Parts/CorvetteParts.net, Shetron Trailers, Heishman Racing Fuels, DL Lehman Construction, Jeremy Zarfos Photography, 2B Wrapped, 4 Leaf Clover Farms, Turn 2 Terribles Podcast & Media, Godfrey Racing Engines, No.17k before officially kicking off his 358 sprint car season on Sunday, March  24th at BAPS Motor Speedway in York Haven, PA.

Keen’s 410 sprint car season will tentatively launch on Friday, April 5th at Williams Grove Speedway.

ABOUT HESS AUCTIONEERS

Hess Auctioneers, LLC began operations in June 2007 when John Hess (Hess Auction Group), Phil and Roger Garber (GFI Transport), and Jim Germak (Jagtrux), recognized a need for this type of consignment auction in the Mid-Atlantic region.

Keen Preparing 410 Sprint Car for Limited 2024 Schedule, Will Also Run Full Williams Grove 358 Slate

Carlisle, PA – October 24, 2023

by Addicted2Dirt PR & Media Mgmt

Kyle Keen doesn’t have a lot of laps under his belt yet in a sprint car.  The Carlisle, PA native only entered the sport a few years ago via the 305 sprint car ranks, then moved up to 358 sprint cars a couple years later.  Starts have been limited mostly due to resource limitations.

Some of the limited schedule has been by choice though, with the goal being to make the team’s resources stretch as far as possible.  Keen has been rethinking that approach somewhat.

The downside has been an inability to get into a rhythm.  It’s true, the only way to get better is seat time, but the cadence of that seat time is also an important factor.  The more racers race, the more the action slows down for them.  That improves their decision making behind the wheel.  Keen feels he hasn’t been consistently getting to that point.  Put simply, it’s been three steps forward, then two steps back.

The plans and resources Keen is working hard to put in place for 2024 are aimed at expediting his learning curve, improving the entire team’s experience and improving performance in the long run.

410 LEARNING

The biggest news is Keen’s plan to go 410 sprint car racing 15-18 times in the Fine Line Auto Body, Keen Parts/CorvetteParts.net, Doubling Gap Ranch, Shetron, Auction & Equipment, LLC., Wicked Dog Grille, Heishman Racing Fuels, Wicked Cushion, DL Lehman Construction, Gearhead Coffee, Jeremy Zarfos Photography, Coyle’s Lawn Maintenance, 2B Wrapped, 4 Leaf Clover Farms, Turn 2 Terribles Podcast & Media, Kyle Keen Motorsports No.17k.

“I’m very excited to climb behind the wheel of a 410 sprint car. It’s been something I’ve wanted to do for some time now, growing up in the sport it’s always been the most exciting, pinnacle of racing for me. “, Keen said.

Keen is realistic about what his first season in a 410 sprint car will be like.

“I fully expect to get humbled every time we hit the track in the 410 ranks, and we know it will be a tough division to climb into. But, it’s the best way for me to get the laps I need to continue to be a better race car driver.”

“As we looked at getting a second motor for our program, it only made sense financially to look at the 410 division. With much better pay and more opportunities to race many different tracks through the entire season, we felt it was the right thing to do, especially owning a team in central PA.”, Keen explained.

“Not only are we excited to hit the track with a 410 under the hood, but it will be an amazing opportunity for our sponsors and supporters to grow with us as we continue to push forward.”

With live streaming, more media coverage, and overall increased promotion at the 410 sprint car level, the visibility and attention garnered by moving up is definitely a plus for sponsors.

“We will look at the schedule of all the tracks and come up with something that makes sense and allows me to get the seat time I need. Obviously, we will be staying away from all the major races, and focusing on racing on the normal, local, weekly night racing. “

“Honestly, if you would have asked me 2 years ago if I would be jumping into a 410 sprint car, I would have told you there’s no way. It’s going to be really cool to put a keen motorsports car back on the track, with me in it. It’s going to be a very special year for us next year and I’m excited.”

Fans will likely embrace the return of the familiar car to the 410 sprint car ranks, a place where the family team made their mark for many years before Kyle’s grandfather Jesse Keen’s untimely passing in 2012.

“We have added some knowledgeable guys to our team over our time off, and I feel like we have assembled a crew that will get me competitive in both divisions. It showed towards the end of the season this year and even though we had a couple of tough tumbles at the end of the year, I felt our speed was really good and I was comfortable in the car. Things are looking up.”

FULL GROVE 358 SCHEDULE

Keen will also return to the 358 sprint car ranks in 2024.  His schedule will differ slightly though.  The Keen Motorsports team will chase the 358 sprint car championship at the famed Williams Grove Speedway.

“We are planning on running the full 358 schedule at Williams Grove. That will be our primary focus on Friday nights, with a sprinkle of some Lincoln races when the schedule allows.” We will have to see how the 410 schedule shakes out and plan accordingly.“, Keen said.

The 358 schedule will remain a key cornerstone of Keen’s development behind the wheel, as well as his team’s growth in the pits and at the shop.  Keen hopes the regular cadence of racing more frequently (compared to 2023) and his overall increased schedule will help him and the team improve more quickly and steadily.

Keen’s Roller Coaster Season Tests Team Again

Done for Year, Focus Turns to 2024 Preparation

Abbottstown, PA – September 8, 2023

by Addicted2Dirt PR & Media Mgmt

Kyle Keen entered September coming off a top five finish at Lincoln Speedway and only wanted one thing:  to put together a complete weekend.

That was something that had been tough to accomplish in 2023.  It seemed every good run had been followed by issues so far this season.

Williams Grove and Lincoln Speedways were set to provide Keen with the opportunity to change that pattern as the season entered the home stretch.

QUICK RESULTS

DATE:  September 1, 2023

  • Track:  Williams Grove Speedway
  • City, State:   Mechanicsburg, PA
  • Quick Stats:  28 cars, Heat 2nd (1), A-main 8th (4)

DATE:  September 2, 2023

  • Track:  Lincoln Speedway
  • City, State:   Abbottstown, PA
  • Quick Stats:  24 cars, Heat DNF (2), A-main DNS

WEEKEND KICKOFF

Williams Grove attracted a field of 28 cars Friday night for their regular 358 sprint car show.  The heat lineups were set using a handicap format, which put Kyle Keen and his Fine Line Auto Body, Keen Parts/CorvetteParts.net, Doubling Gap Ranch, Shetron, Auction & Equipment, LLC., Wicked Dog Grille, Heishman Racing Fuels, Wicked Cushion, DL Lehman Construction, Gearhead Coffee, Jeremy Zarfos Photography, Coyle’s Lawn Maintenance, 2B Wrapped, 4 Leaf Clover Farms, Turn 2 Terribles Podcast & Media, Kyle Keen Motorsports No.17k on the pole as a result of his partial schedule at the track.

On the initial start, Keen was called for jumping the start and was penalized to 3rd for the second attempt to start the race.  He quickly drove back into 2nd and began to challenge the leader but couldn’t get past and settled for the runner-up finish.

Keen lined up 4th for the 20-lap feature and immediately charged into 2nd as the field entered turn three on the opening lap.  At the halfway point, the Carlisle, PA native was in 4th.  He was still holding down that spot with six laps remaining when the caution lights flashed on.

On the ensuing restart, Keen’s No.17k was not the same.  He slipped backwards in the closing laps and finished 8th.

Not sure what happened on the restart, but the car went completely away.  It was like the tires sealed over.  I lost all grip.”, Keen shared.

Disappointed we went backwards the last few laps after having such a strong run going.  Was scratching my head after the restart, but we’ll notch another top 10 under our belt and keep moving forward.”

NOT AGAIN

Keen was looking to put together a full weekend of positive results when he rolled into Lincoln Speedway Saturday night on the heels of Friday’s top ten finish at Williams Grove.

Unfortunately, once again he encountered some tough luck.  After starting 2nd in his heat race, Keen was involved in an accident that destroyed the team’s only remaining car.

The incident not only put an end to Keen’s night, it put an end to his season.

The 17k will sadly be done for the remainder of the season and we will turn our attention to preparing for 2024.  I want to say thank you to all our friends, family and sponsors who work so hard to keep our race car on the racetrack.“, Keen said.

I’m really disappointed because I felt the last few weeks, we have shown some pretty good speed.  There are some exciting things happening for next year we can’t wait to share with everyone.

SEASON STATS

16 races, 0 wins, 2 top 5’s, 5 top 10’s, 7 top 15’s

Keen Rebounds With Top Five Finish One Week After Hard Crash

Two Race Weekend On Tap for Carlisle, PA Driver

Abbottstown, PA – August 29, 2023

by Addicted2Dirt PR & Media Mgmt

Kyle Keen and his team put in some long hours and a lot of hard work over the past week to get back to the track Saturday night at Lincoln Speedway.  They had to build a car from scratch starting with their 2022 frame and concluding with dropping in a borrowed power plant.

Their two night, three feature weekend that kicked off August 18th had not even seen a green flag yet when a part broke and caused Keen to crash hard into the outside guardrail exiting turn four at Williams Grove Speedway as he accelerated to line up for a makeup feature event.

Keen was ok but his car was destroyed in the fluke accident.  After a busy week rebuilding, it was time to put the car to the test and hope for a little better outcome.

  • Date:  August 26, 2023
  • Track:  Lincoln Speedway
  • City, State:   Abbottstown, PA
  • Quick Stats:  30 cars, Heat 3rd (7), A-main 5th (1)

Nice Recovery

Keen was among a field of thirty teams signed in to do battle Saturday night at Lincoln Speedway in Pennsylvania.

For the fifth consecutive time at the Abbottstown oval, Keen had to start outside the top three rows in his heat race.  This time he occupied the 7th spot when the green flag waived.  He made his move early, surging into 5th on the opening lap.

Keen continued the heat race charge, reaching 3rd on lap three in his Fine Line Auto Body, Keen Parts/CorvetteParts.net, Doubling Gap Ranch, Shetron, Auction & Equipment, LLC., Wicked Dog Grille, Heishman Racing Fuels, Wicked Cushion, DL Lehman Construction, Gearhead Coffee, Jeremy Zarfos Photography, Coyle’s Lawn Maintenance, 2B Wrapped, 4 Leaf Clover Farms, Turn 2 Terribles Podcast & Media, Kyle Keen Motorsports No.17.

Keen finished 3rd, locking himself into the handicap.  The effort paid off by handing him the pole position for the 20-lap feature.  He led the first two circuits before slipping to 3rd.

Keen’s setup was off a little for the slick surface but he continued to manage it the best he could, holding down the 4th spot at the halfway point of the race.  In the closing stages he dropped one more spot but was able to hang on and bring home a 5th place finish.

“I’m pretty happy with a top five after last weekend’s crash.  This was a different frame, brake system and motor.  A good night for us.  We had some really good speed.  It’s something we can build on.“, Keen said.  “Huge thank you to Jake Raudabaugh of Fine Line Auto Body for allowing us to borrow his Don Ott Racing Engines power plant for this weekend.

It was nice to have a good run with our friend and sponsor, Tom Keen of Keen Parts, with us for the evening.  Glad we got him a little dirty for once.“, Keen said with a grin.

We truly appreciate everyone’s support.  Hopefully we can start knocking down these top fives more consistently.

Kyle Keen Motorsports continues to build their program, both on and off the track.  The latest chapter unveils a new and improved tool to better promote their marketing partners and better inform fans.

Getting Connected

Today Kyle Keen Motorsports announced the launch of a brand new website, built and hosted by MyRacePass (MRP).  The site is fully integrated with the MyRacePass network of racetracks, marketing tools and various news outlets.

On the great looking new site, fans will find Kyle’s bio, stats, the latest news, schedule information, merchandise, photos, partner information, and more.

Our primary objective is to take care of our partners.  We want to give them tremendous value and return for their support of our program.“, Keen commented.

By working with our public relations partner, Addicted2Dirt PR, they were able to help us put together a great deal to have the folks at MyRacePass build a site that will significantly increase the audience we reach for our partners.”

There are big benefits for Keen’s fans too.

“Now we can make our merchandise available online for our fans who can’t get to the track to see us.  It also enables us to have race night information available to our fans, almost immediately in some cases.  MRP’s site will make it so much faster and easier for our team to get updates out to our fans and make sure they always have the latest info.”

Free Info on The Go

The new site is also fully integrated into the MyRacePass phone app, which is the most comprehensive motorsports app available to race fans.

The app provides live timing and scoring, lineups, driver profiles, news, schedules and more for every track, series, team and driver on the MRP network.

Fans don’t need a subscription to the app to access all of the information available.  That means fans can find all of the information on KyleKeenMotorsports.com via the MRP app too.

Kyle Keen Battles Through Tough Twin Bill Weekend in PA

Team Will Return to Williams Grove This Weekend

Abbottstown, PA – August 1, 2023

by Addicted2Dirt PR & Media Mgmt

Kyle Keen has been working as hard as anyone in the pit area.  So far in 2023 that hasn’t translated directly to the results one should get in return for the effort.  Mechanical issues, a learning curve behind the wheel and some flat out bad luck in the form of pill draws just haven’t worked in his favor.

That’s racing though.  Everyone goes through it.

Teams have to keep chipping away and grinding it out to be ready when everything comes together.  That’s exactly what Kyle Keen Motorsports is doing.  The recent weekend brought two more tests for the young wheelman.

  • Date:  July 28, 2023
  • Event:  358 Summer Series
  • Track:  Williams Grove Speedway
  • City, State:   Mechanicsburg, PA
  • Quick Stats:  25 cars, Heat 5th (4), A-main 15th (15)

  • Date:  July 29, 2023
  • Track:  Lincoln Speedway
  • City, State:   Abbottstown, PA
  • Quick Stats:  28 cars, Heat 6th (9), A-main 18th (18)

One Spot Changes Everything

Keen started 4th in his heat race Friday night at Williams Grove Speedway and with the top four making the redraw for the 358 Sprint Car Summer Series event, he was in a good position to kick off the night.

At the halfway mark of the 8-lap qualifying race, Keen lost the spot and slipped to 5th.  He was unable to recover the position and missed the redraw.

Instead of  having a shot at starting in the front few rows of the A-main, he lined up 15th for the night’s finale.  In the early going, Keen slipped back as far as 19th but battled back to finish 15th at the end of the night.

We were off a little in the heat race and it showed. Had a good start and just couldn’t capitalize on it. In the feature I thought the car was pretty good, just got stuck on the bottom early in the feature and took too long to get going.”, Keen said.

Climbing Out of a Hole

Another unfavorable pill draw put Keen 9th on the grid to start his heat race Saturday night at Lincoln Speedway in Abbottstown, PA, but the Fine Line Auto Body, Keen Parts/CorvetteParts.net, Doubling Gap Ranch, Shetron, Auction & Equipment, LLC., Wicked Dog Grille, Heishman Racing Fuels, Wicked Cushion, DL Lehman Construction, Gearhead Coffee, Jeremy Zarfos Photography, Coyle’s Lawn Maintenance, 2B Wrapped, 4 Leaf Clover Farms, Turn 2 Terribles Podcast & Media, Kyle Keen Motorsports No.17 was up to the task.  He charged his way up to 6th and into a transfer spot a few laps into the race.  Although his progress stopped there, his effort was good enough to transfer directly to the A-main.

Starting deep in the A-main field, Keen was hoping for forward progress similar to his heat race.  It never materialized.  He was mired in traffic and ended up 18th at the end of the night.

“Another rough pill draw had us start pretty deep in the heat. We had an awesome car for the heat race and we’re able to shoot up to 5th from 9th. In my opinion, we should have ran 3rd but I made a few mistakes that probably cost us a handicap spot.”, Keen shared.

“In the feature, the track was very blown off and start position was really important. Disappointed we weren’t able to do much passing, but that’s par for the course sometimes as the second feature on the racetrack.

Thanks to Ant Bay for coming up and serving as crew chief for us this weekend, we had a lot of fun!

Up Next

Kyle and the team will look to rebound from last weekend when they return to Williams Grove Speedway this Friday, August 4th for another 358 Summer Series event!

Keen Unable to Climb Out of Early Hole at Lincoln Saturday

Team Will Return to Lincoln This Weekend

Abbottstown, PA – July 12, 2023

by Addicted2Dirt PR & Media Mgmt

Kyle Keen returned to Lincoln Speedway over the weekend, nearly a month after his last visit resulted in a runner-up finish.

In the month that had passed, Keen endured multiple rainouts and had only completed one race, a URC event at Selinsgrove.  Saturday night he was looking to pick up where he left off and begin to build some consistent momentum.

  • Date:  July 8, 2023
  • Track:  Lincoln Speedway
  • City, State:   Abbottstown, PA
  • Quick Stats:  36 cars, Heat 6th (8), B-main 4th (4), A-main 18th (24)

Play the Hand You Are Dealt

As is typical at Lincoln Speedway when the 358 sprint cars are on the card, a deep field was pit-side.  Thirty-six teams signed in for the show, which lined up heats by pill draw, then set the feature lineup with the top five finishers transferring and only the top three being handicapped to the front.

Keen’s pill draw set him up with an uphill challenge for the night by putting him 8th on the grid for the fourth heat race.  He got a great start and raced into 6th on the opening lap, then started his charge for more.

A few laps in, Keen was the victim of a spin in front of him.  With nowhere to go, he got collected in the incident.  Fortunately he was able to restart the race at the rear of the field, but he was only able to get back to 6th by the end of the 10-lap qualifying event in the Fine Line Auto Body, Keen Parts/CorvetteParts.net, Doubling Gap Ranch, Shetron, Auction & Equipment, LLC., Wicked Dog Grille, Heishman Racing Fuels, Wicked Cushion, DL Lehman Construction, Gearhead Coffee, Jeremy Zarfos Photography, Coyle’s Lawn Maintenance, 2B Wrapped, 4 Leaf Clover Farms, Turn 2 Terribles Podcast & Media, Kyle Keen Motorsports No.17.

After missing the transfer by one spot, Keen made his way into the feature with a 4th place finish in the B-main.  From his 24th starting spot in the A-main, he was able to climb to 18th over the course of the twenty laps.

It wasn’t the night we were hoping for, but I felt we were decent all night despite the outcome.“, Keen said.  “It was just one of those nights when you have to play the hand you are dealt.

After the track took rubber, it was tough to really see how good or bad we were.  In that situation you just have to hold your ground and defend.  Going on offense is tough.

Up Next

Although not on his original schedule, Kyle Keen will return to Lincoln Speedway this Saturday, July 15th.

Season Stats

7 races, 0 wins, 1 top 5’s, 3 top 10’s, 4 top 15’s

Trivia Question

The answer to the last trivia question is Kyle Keen attended Lock Haven University in Lock Haven, Pennsylvania!

Now, on to this week’s question.  What track that Kyle has not yet raced at is at the top of his wish list to race someday?

The answer in the next press release!

Keen Scores Runner Up Finish at Lincoln in Unplanned Visit

Date With URC at Selinsgrove Next on the Calendar

Abbottstown, PA – June 11, 2023

by Addicted2Dirt PR & Media Mgmt

Kyle Keen is over two months into his 2023 season but only has five races on the ledger thus far in the Fine Line Auto Body, Keen Parts/CorvetteParts.net, Doubling Gap Ranch, Shetron, Auction & Equipment, LLC., Wicked Dog Grille, Heishman Racing Fuels, Wicked Cushion, DL Lehman Construction, Gearhead Coffee, Jeremy Zarfos Photography, Coyle’s Lawn Maintenance, 2B Wrapped, 4 Leaf Clover Farms, Turn 2 Terribles Podcast & Media, Kyle Keen Motorsports No.17.

Those five races have produced very up and down results, combined with glimpses of high potential.  Keen’s greatest desire right now is to get into a rhythm, something the weather and mechanical issues have prevented so far this season.  Seat time is the only way to keep getting better.

  • Date:  June 10, 2023
  • Track:  Lincoln Speedway
  • City, State:   Abbottstown, PA
  • Quick Stats:  34 cars, Heat 3rd (3), A-main 2nd (1)

Learning Moment

Lineups for the four heat races for the 34 cars on hand at Lincoln Speedway Saturday night were set by pill draw.  The top five finishers would transfer to the A-main but only the top three would be handicapped to the front of the starting lineup for the finale.

Keen started 3rd in his 10-lap heat race and worked his way into the runner-up spot on lap three.  He held that spot, trying to run down the leader for the next seven laps.  On the final circuit the Carlisle, PA native slipped one spot to finish 3rd.

With a lap to go I tried blocking the bottom line and I got out-experienced by a veteran racer. Definitely a good learning moment for me.“, Keen said.

Fortunately, the lost position didn’t hurt Keen, as he still claimed a handicap spot.

A Complete Night

Keen started on the pole for the 20-lap main event but front row mate Kyle Spence led the opening lap.

Keen chased Spence the entire distance but with the track taking rubber, it was tough to get close, let alone make a move.  He kept a firm grip on 2nd through the checkered flag.

Tough for me to swallow being so close. I messed up the start and got out-experienced again on the initial green and was never able to get close enough to the leader to attempt to get it back.  While I’m not satisfied with second, I’m happy to be in contention for a win.  It also feels good to put a whole night together and bring home a career best for me in my second year in a 358 (sprint car).“, Keen said.

Thank you to my crew, family, wife, sponsors and anyone who supports my program.  I’m hungry for that first win and we are working hard to do so.  Special thanks to my dad, Brint, Dakota Kuhn and Jordan Givler for a late evening Thursday dropping the motor back in so we could be here to race.”

Up Next

Kyle Keen will compete with the URC at Selinsgrove Speedway on Sunday, June 18th when the 360 sprint cars join the Appalachian Mountain Late Model Speedweek program.

Hopefully we can click off a couple full nights like that in a row and get into that rhythm we have been looking for.”, Keen commented.

Season Stats

6 races, 0 wins, 1 top 5’s, 3 top 10’s, 4 top 15’s

Trivia Question

The answer to the last trivia question is Kyle Keen played football and basketball in high school!

Now, on to this week’s question.  Where did Kyle Keen go to college?

The answer in the next press release!

The partnership established last season between the Kyle Keen Motorsports 358 sprint car team and Keen Parts/CorvetteParts.net has been rolling on through second season together.

Contrary to popular belief, there is no blood relationship between them.  A happenstance meeting brought them together, a friendship formed and a partnership was born.

Racing Tradition

Keen Parts is no stranger to auto racing.  The Ohio-based business has a long history of partnerships with  racers at every level, from NASCAR to drag-racing television stars on Street Outlaws: New Orleans.

Owners Tom and TJ Keen enjoy racing so much, they sponsor several teams and have done so for many years, often through their alternate business name, CorvetteParts.net.  They have successfully partnered with familiar names in NASCAR and ARCA racing like Earnhardt, DiBenedetto, Lajoie, Boat, Tiff and Mullins.

Kyle Keen, his father Shawn and late grandfather Jesse also have a steeped tradition in racing.  Their history in dirt track sprint car racing is a well-documented one that is centered in Central Pennsylvania but whose reputation extends well beyond those borders.

Tom, TJ, Shawn and Kyle all have a rich tradition and a track record of success in racing, so it comes as no surprise a partnership was born.

About Keen Parts

Keen Parts is a leading manufacturer and retailer of Corvette parts and accessories.  They have over thirty years of happy customers all over the world.  While other companies sell parts for Fords and Volkswagens, all Keen Parts does is Corvette parts and accessories.

Keen Parts is still that same family-owned company they have been since day one. They are not a huge impersonal corporation. They are large enough to have the Corvette parts and Corvette knowledge you need, and small enough to help.

CorvetteParts.net is their website alter-ego.  With over 26,000 Corvette parts and accessories, they have what you need.  They stock parts available for Corvettes from 1953 to the present.  Keen Parts is not an anonymous Corvette website. Their retail shop and warehouses are located in Cleves, Ohio just north of Cincinnati.

Keen Parts is proud of what they sell and proud of what they do. Their Corvette parts are on cars displayed at the National Corvette Museum, Concours d’ Elegance winners, and Bloomington Gold winners. They stock both new and used (original) parts. If you cannot locate what you need on their comprehensive website at www.keenparts.com– call their knowledgeable staff at 800-757-KEEN (5336).

Common Ground

The sprint car racing partnership all started through a chance meeting with sprint car driver Kyle Keen in early 2022.

“At the time I was working for a marketing company in the evenings. I received a phone call on my lunch break and Tom Keen was on the other line. I immediately knew who he was from watching NASCAR, and from that point forward we really hit it off, and never looked back. It was fun to share the same last name, and I joked with Tom, calling him my long lost uncle. We really try to keep it fun.”, Kyle shared.

Tom and TJ are also familiar with the Central Pennsylvania area.  They come to the Carlisle Fairgrounds twice each year for shows like ‘Corvettes at Carlisle’, which are key events for their business, Keen Parts.

I’m looking forward to continuing to build this fun relationship with Tom and TJ.  I can’t thank them enough for supporting my dream and my passion of racing sprint cars.  They are incredible people and obviously big race fans, so I’m looking forward to what the future holds with them., Kyle commented.
