Lattomus Taking One Step Back To Take Two Forward

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Preston Lattomus and the Capitol Custom Trailers & Coaches, E-Z GO, Betts Garage No.91 team were building steady momentum as August came to a close.  The young Lewes, Delaware driver was learning and adapting, producing better results and glimpses of the team’s potential.

Since then, over the past three weeks, they have struggled to achieve the same results, although the learning and adapting certainly continue.

There’s often more to changes in a race team’s performance than meets the eye. An improvement or a decline can stem from a lot of different factors. Luck of the draw when you qualify, track conditions, setup choices, decisions behind the wheel…there are a lot of factors any given night.  Equipment differences are also part of that equation.

There is a lot to learn for a rookie 410 sprint car driver.  Handling the horsepower, making split-second decisions behind the wheel, providing feedback to the crew without much experience to base it on, and dealing with the elevated level of competition are just the beginning.

Add equipment differences to that equation, and it gets even more complex and challenging for any driver, let alone a rookie.  These aren’t excuses; they are the real challenges of the sport of sprint car racing.

While fans may not see the difference from their seat, since the beginning of the season, the 91 team has been racing two different cars on a rotating schedule.  This not only builds depth to their program, but it also prevents a single motor from being ‘lapped out’ and in need of a refresh too quickly.

There are very few subtle differences between the cars, but the differences are enough that identical setups and driving styles aren’t guaranteed to produce the same performance.

“We had a very good stretch in what we call the NJ car, and I started to get used to and like the motor we have in that car,” Lattomus shared.

“The past few weeks, we have been racing what we call our PA car, which has a slightly different motor in it.  The guys and I have been working hard to adjust and give that car what it wants to be fast.”

In simplest terms, differences between engines can affect where peak horsepower is reached during a lap.  That can affect corner exit and/or corner entry speed, which then necessitate different chassis setups and/or driving styles to achieve equivalent lap times as another combination.

“Right now we are definitely in a slump, but we are taking one step back to make two steps forward,” Lattomus commented.

“We have been able to work together and start to show improvement over the last couple of races with this car.  Our results may not show it, but as each night progresses, we improve.”

There is no better opportunity for a driver and team to learn than when they are facing challenges.

“My feedback and communication within the team has definitely been a big thing recently in trying to become better all around when we are struggling like this,” Lattmus explained.

“With only a handful of races left, we will have limited chances to show how much we have improved as a team, but we are heading in the right direction for sure.”

Lattomus will return to Williams Grove Speedway this Friday, then will take on the High Limit Racing series at Bridgeport Motorsports Park on Saturday.

The race at Bridgeport Motorsports Park, which is located in Swedesboro, NJ, is a big one for Lattomus, not only because the touring professional series is coming to town but because he has family and friends right across the Delaware River bridge from the event, giving them a great opportunity to see the young Delaware driver compete in person.

The following weekend, Lattomus will compete twice with the World of Outlaws, first at New Egypt Speedway in NJ, then at Lincoln Speedway in PA.

Cappetta Reflects on Weldon Sterner Memorial and Looks Ahead to Closing Out 2025 Season Strong

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

New Oxford, PA – September 22, 2025

by Emily Winslow / Addicted2Dirt PR & Media Mgmt

Image Credit:  Jeremy Zarfos / WRT Speedwerx

Ashley Cappetta added another successful Weldon Sterner Memorial to her resume this past weekend, marking her second time this season organizing the special event. While Cappetta was juggling her role as both a promoter and competitor, she came away with pride in how the night unfolded on and off the track.

“I thought it went really well,” Cappetta said. “We had a strong car count, and aside from one bad crash in the 358 division, the night ran smoothly. Every time I promote one of these races, I learn more about what needs to be done, and it becomes easier. Sponsorship is always the hardest part, especially hosting two events in a season, but considering how quickly we put this one together, I’m really happy with the results.”

One of the highlights of the night was the added contingency bonus support for the 358 Sprint Cars, something Cappetta pushed hard to secure.

“As a 358 driver, I know how tough the pay is for us compared to the 410s,” she explained. “After some tough track conditions the week before that really hurt teams’ equipment, I thought it was important to get extra money and product awards for the division. A lot of great businesses stepped up to help, and I really admire people who support the ‘little guys.’ Many 410 drivers started in the 358s, so it’s nice to see that kind of support come full circle.”

On track, Cappetta battled a tough night behind the wheel.

“I went into the night knowing my grandmother wasn’t doing well, and my mind was definitely with her,” Cappetta shared. “I told myself to give myself grace no matter the outcome. We missed the setup in the heat race, which put me deep in the field. Starting 14th made it tough with everyone running the same line, but I passed a couple cars before giving one spot back. At the end of the day, I was just thankful the car came home in one piece, and we know what we need to adjust moving forward.”

With only two races left in the season, both at her home track of Lincoln Speedway, Cappetta is focused on closing out strong.

“I’d really love to get a win before the season ends, especially in honor of my grandmother who just passed,” Cappetta said. “But with a new crew chief and crew this year, the main goal is to build a strong notebook for next season. If we can finish the last two races in the top 10 and keep our equipment in good shape, I’ll be happy.”

Off the track, Cappetta also recently spoke at the York County Racing Club meeting, something she truly valued.

“It was a really cool experience,” she said. “Not everyone gets to meet drivers face-to-face and ask questions, so it’s a great way for people to connect with us. The club does so much behind the scenes, and going to the meeting gave me a new appreciation for their work.”

Cappetta will return to action at Lincoln Speedway for the final two 358 Sprint Car races of the 2025 season as she looks to end the year on a high note.

ABOUT  ASHLEY CAPPETTA

Ashley Cappetta is a second-generation racer following her uncle’s footsteps. She started her racing career in 2012. It was her first year piloting her race car but certainly not her first exposure to the sport. She was introduced to racing by her father, who was Steve Smith’s crew chief. Her uncle, Rob Cappetta was also involved in the sport driving his own #89 sprint car and went on to be a gasman for Robert Yates Racing. Ashley is making her own way by being the first female in her family to set center stage as a driver. Ashley has had a couple of years of sprint car experience with various teams, starting out as a crew member doing such simple tasks as scrapping mud to advancing her skills into doing maintenance for her own race car. Ashley showing her success with not only her abilities working on her race car but also by winning a Hard Charger Award in only her first season racing. Ashley feels she has the best of both worlds by not only knowing how to race but by having the knowledge of the mechanics and being able to provide detailed feedback to her team. Her goal is to continue to grow as a racer and work her way up through the sprint car division.

Ashley Cappetta Scores Back-to-Back Top 10s and Announces Release of First-Ever Diecast Car

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Abbottstown, PA – September 4, 2025

by Emily Winslow / Addicted2Dirt PR & Media Mgmt

Image Credit:  Jeremy Zarfos / WRT Speedwerx

Ashley Cappetta has strung together another pair of solid finishes at Lincoln Speedway, adding to a season marked by consistency and determination. Cappetta recorded an eighth-place finish in the Kramer Klash and followed it up with a 10th-place run during the Labor Day Duels over the holiday weekend.

The Kramer Klash began with Cappetta starting mid-pack after a fourth-place finish in her heat. Despite a challenging heat race, she lined up 12th for the feature and drove to an eighth-place finish. “I wasn’t completely comfortable in the heat, but I knew we weren’t going to start worse than 12th,” Cappetta said. “In the feature, things worked out. A wreck happened in front of us, and if I had started farther up, I probably would’ve been caught in it. We were able to pick off some cars and come away with a top 10.”

During the Labor Day Duel on Sunday, Cappetta battled tricky track conditions. The track quickly took rubber, making passing opportunities scarce. After finishing third in her heat, she lined up seventh for the feature but slipped back to 10th. “It was one of those races where if you fell out of the groove just a little, you were going to get passed,” Cappetta explained. “We had some wheel spin early, but made adjustments. It wasn’t the outcome we wanted, but with the conditions, we’ll take another top 10.”

The two finishes continue a strong stretch for Cappetta and her team, who have scored top-10 results in eight of 10 completed features this season. Only a camshaft failure and engine trouble at Port Royal have kept the team from finishing a race in 2025.

Off the track, Cappetta is celebrating a milestone in her racing career with the release of her first-ever diecast sprint car. Produced in partnership with Acme, the diecast marks Cappetta as one of only a few female sprint car drivers to have a model car made in her likeness.

“This is definitely a childhood dream come true,” Cappetta said. “I grew up playing with diecast cars and pretending to be my favorite drivers. To now have my own is surreal. It’s special for me, for my nieces, and for the young fans who will have another female driver to look up to in their collections. It’s also great exposure for my sponsors, as these cars are going to fans all over the country.”

Cappetta and her team will return to Lincoln Speedway next Saturday for the 22nd annual Weldon Sterner Memorial as they continue their push toward closing out the 2025 season strong.

Upward Trajectory: Lattomus Picks up First Heat Race Win, Two More Top Tens

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Abbottstown, PA – August 28, 2025

by Addicted2Dirt PR & Media Mgmt

Preston Lattomus and the Capitol Custom Trailers & Coaches, E-Z GO, Betts Garage No.91 team have worked hard all season together to get the 410 sprint car rookie as much experience as possible.  They have raced a lot, taken their lumps, had their moments of success, and learned along the way.

It is beginning to pay off.

Recent results clearly demonstrate progress by the Lewes, Delaware driver and his team, led by Kyle Reinhardt and Scott McClaren, who both have many years of experience to share with the young Lattomus.

After opening August at Knoxville Raceway’s 360 Nationals in Iowa, Lattomus returned to Central Pennsylvania 410 sprint car competition at Lincoln Speedway, where he has more laps under his belt than anywhere this season.

Lattomus qualified 4th quickest overall and transferred through his heat to lock into the main event, in which he brought home a respectable 13th-place finish.

The following week at Williams Grove Speedway, Lattomus scored his career-first top-ten at the legendary oval, steadily working his way forward from his 14th starting spot over the course of the 25-lap event to earn the achievement.

“I think improving our finishing results at Williams Grove really shows the progress we have been making, especially given how tough that place is and that we have fewer laps there this year than we do at Lincoln (Speedway). The results are now showing how we are making speed all night long.  We are putting the whole night together,” Lattomus said.

One week later, Lattomus returned to ‘The Grove’, qualified 4th overall, locked into the feature, and logged a 14th-place finish.  No, it didn’t make headlines, but the consistent run was another indicator of the solid foundation the team has managed to build.

The second night of the team’s two-race weekend took Lattomus back to Lincoln Speedway, where he qualified 4th in his group to earn the pole for his heat race.  He did not waste the opportunity, leading every lap and holding off Kyle Moody to win by 0.734 seconds.

The heat race victory, the first of his young 410 sprint car career, put Lattomus on the outside of row two to start the 35-lap A-main.  He raced inside the top ten throughout the event, bringing home an 8th-place finish.

It was Lattomus’s third top ten finish at the Abbottstown, Pennsylvania oval and fourth overall of the season.

“I’d say the biggest contribution to our better runs is my qualifying efforts. It’s been my biggest struggle this far into the season, and now it is turning around and we are seeing the better results. Aside from the qualifying, I feel that i’ve been running my best laps in general at every track,” Lattomus shared.

“Kyle (Reinhardt) has been great to work with.  He has helped me learn every time I hit the track.  The communication between us is effective because he is able to use his experience driving and working on these cars to translate what I explain about what I feel in the car.  He knows the right adjustments to make when we need them, when to leave the car alone and let the track come to us, and when to help me adjust my approach to get the most out of the car.”

The recent four-race stretch was the best of Lattomus’s rookie season, producing the most consistent results.  With numerous big races on the horizon as the 2025 season heads into the homestretch, it’s a good time for his confidence to be on the upswing.

Ashley Cappetta Battles Through Adversity, Collects Strong Runs as Season Winds Down

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Abbottstown, PA – August 21, 2025

It’s been a rollercoaster three weeks for Ashley Cappetta and her team, as they’ve faced mechanical setbacks, tough track conditions, and flashes of speed that show just how close the East Berlin driver is to breaking through for her first win of the season.

The stretch began with heartbreak at Lincoln Speedway, when Cappetta’s night ended prematurely with motor trouble while battling near the front of her heat race. After a strong start and a car that was showing speed, Cappetta heard the telltale signs that something wasn’t right. The team diagnosed a major issue with the camshaft, an unexpected step back in their season plans.

“It was really defeating because we were in position to qualify well and had a car I felt comfortable with,” Cappetta said. “We work so hard, and to have something completely out of our control end the night early was tough. But you can’t dwell on it—we just have to regroup and keep moving forward.”

Regroup is exactly what the team did. The following week at Lincoln, Cappetta rebounded with a strong qualifying effort and showed race-winning speed in both her heat and the feature. After racing into second during the heat and lining up solidly for the main event, Cappetta spent much of the feature inside the top five. Twice she made passes for position, only to have cautions negate her progress. In the end, she came home with a top-five finish—a run that gave the team confidence heading into the final stretch of the season.

“I really felt like we had a car capable of finishing in the top three or even challenging for a win if the cautions had fallen our way,” Cappetta noted. “It was definitely a confidence booster after the week before.”

This past Saturday, however, luck was once again not on Cappetta’s side. After drawing into a tough heat race and being relegated to a 17th-place starting spot in the feature, her night became an uphill climb. On the opening lap of the 20-lap main event, Cappetta was collected in another driver’s incident and forced to restart at the rear of the field. From there, she mounted a steady charge through the pack, only to be stalled multiple times by caution flags. Despite the setbacks, Cappetta passed cars and worked her way forward over the course of the race and salvaged a 13th-place finish.

“The car felt really good, but we just couldn’t catch a break with all the cautions,” Cappetta said. “Every time I made progress, the yellow would come out. We had a top-10 car, easy, but the circumstances just didn’t allow it.”

With just five races remaining on the 2025 season schedule at Lincoln Speedway, Cappetta and her team are focused on finishing strong. Cappetta continues to chase her first win of the year, with her sights set on the Weldon Sterner Memorial in September and a season finale in October.

“I want to get a win so bad for my team, my sponsors, and all the people who support me,” Cappetta said. “We’ve been close—we just need the right night to put it all together.”

Cappetta also addressed recent rumors circulating in the pits about her future in racing:
“There’s been some talk that I might retire after this season, and I just want to be clear—that’s not true. Next year will be my 15th season, and we plan on running a full schedule again in 2026. My future is still in racing, and I’m not done yet.”

Fans can catch Ashley Cappetta back in action this Saturday night at Lincoln Speedway, where she’ll continue her pursuit of victory lane.

Lattomus Eager to Return to Knoxville, Armed with Newfound Experience

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Knoxville, IA – August 4, 2025

by Addicted2Dirt PR & Media Mgmt

Preston Lattomus went to Knoxville to gain experience and learn.  Mission accomplished.

No, the results weren’t flashy on the scoreboard, but the building blocks were laid so the young racer can post those kinds of results in the future.

His first impression of Knoxville?

“It feels 410 (sprint car) fast in a 360,” Lattomus shared with a smile.

QUICK LEARNING REQUIRED

Knoxville’s surface is a different animal, especially for a racer who has spent his young career in the Mid-Atlantic region.  Then consider the stout competition on hand for the 360 Nationals, which includes most of the top 360 sprint car teams and drivers in the country.

Add it all together and there’s only one conclusion:  newcomers need to be a quick study.

Lattomus only made 25 total laps under green on his qualifying night on Friday.  That’s hot laps, qualifying, heat race, and the B-main combined.  That’s not a lot of time to learn, especially when the most important laps of your weekend, your time trial laps, are the 4th and 5th laps you have ever turned at the track.

Friday night ended on a positive note, with Lattomus passing cars and moving forward in the B-main, plus the ‘first date’ with Knoxville was behind him, and he could come into Saturday’s finale far more comfortable and with an idea what he was facing.

Lattomus quickly showed he was making progress at the Marion County (Iowa) Fairgrounds half-mile.  He drove from 12th to 5th in the D-main to advance to the C-main.  Unable to come from deep in the field to a top-seven transfer spot, his night ended in the C-main, but it still provided valuable track time that will pay dividends next time.

Saturday night, Lattomus was on track for a hot lap session, followed by a 10-lap D-main, and a 12-lap C-main.  That’s another 25 total, but they were extremely valuable for the Lewes, DE driver and his Capitol Custom Trailers & Coaches, E-Z GO, Betts Garage No.91 team.

I was absolutely more comfortable on Saturday with the track. Friday night was completely new to me and felt like every time I hit the track, I improved. Saturday was a big help in learning more because I had some extra time to search around and find my speed in different areas,” Lattomus shared.

“I definitely want to get back to Knoxville after the laps I gained this week. It is an awesome track to race on, and I am confident I will have a better run when we go back.”

UP NEXT

Lattomus has added a date to his upcoming schedule.  He will race the 410 sprint car at Lincoln Speedway on Saturday, August 9th.

Knoxville Beckons: Lattomus to Compete in 360 Nationals

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Lewes, DE – July 30, 2025

by Addicted2Dirt PR & Media Mgmt

Preston Lattomus will add another first to his racing resume this week.  He will tackle Knoxville Raceway in Iowa in the 360 Sprint Car Nationals aboard the Capitol Custom Trailers & Coaches, E-Z GO, Betts Garage No.91.

The accomplished young racer from Lewes, Delaware, will hit the track Friday, August 1st, for his qualifying night and again on Saturday on August 2nd, for the event finale.

HEADING WEST

“We have a very successful 360 program, we believe one of the best in the country.  Our goal this season was to get out of our region and compete in a larger event on a national scale,” Lattomus shared.

“Originally, we were aiming to go to Florida early in the year, but instead, we opted to put the 360 Nationals at Knoxville on our schedule because it made more sense on multiple levels.”

Knoxville Raceway in Knoxville, Iowa, is widely considered the premier dirt track in the United States if not the world.  The 360 Sprint Car Nationals is one of the top-tier events held at the half-mile facility, drawing wide media coverage and fan attention.

“Entering the 360 Nationals not only gives us a chance to measure our program against the best in the country, it provides huge visibility for our partners.  Capitol Custom Trailers and Coaches always has a presence here.  It’s a great opportunity for them to show their great products to the racing community,” Lattomus explained.

“It’s also a great opportunity for me to get seat time at a place I hope to compete at a lot in the future in both 360 and 410 sprint cars.”

More than 90 cars are entered for the 2025 360 Nationals, with half the field qualifying on Thursday and the other half on Friday.  Saturday’s eliminations will be lined up by points earned on qualifying nights.

RISING WITH EXPERIENCE

After a very busy 410 Pennsylvania Sprint Speedweek to open the month of July, Lattomus took one weekend off, then returned for a two-race weekend at Williams Grove and Lincoln Speedways.

It proved to be a good weekend for the 410 rookie.  At Williams Grove, he scored a 17th-place finish, but the story was about more than the ending.  Lattomus moved forward in his heat race and passed cars in the A-main before slipping late.

The following night at Lincoln, Lattomus scored his second top-ten finish of the season, landing a 7th-place finish after running well inside the top five earlier in the race.

“I made a couple poor decisions during the feature that cost us.  I had a good enough car to run at the front.  I’m more comfortable lately and getting more consistent.  I am learning every time I hit the track.  I just need the weather to cooperate and give me more opportunities,” Lattomus commented.

Lattomus unloaded at BAPS Motor Speedway on July 23rd to compete with the World of Outlaws but the team never got past hot laps.  A magneto issue ended their night before they really ever got started.

So far in 2025, Lattomus should have raced 47 times based on the team’s original schedule.  Thanks to Mother Nature and a couple of mechanical gremlins, he has only raced 28 times.  That’s a ton of experience that was never gained.

Lattomus has seven 410 sprint car races planned in Pennsylvania in the latter half of August.  He hopes the weather will play nice and he will get a chance to continue to build on the trend he has worked so hard to build despite all the challenges so far this year.

Weather Woes, Fan Appreciation Night, and Future Plans: An Update from Sprint Car Driver Adrian Tetreault

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Memphis, TN – July 28, 2025

by Emily Winslow / Addicted2Dirt PR & Media Mgmt

It’s been a frustrating season for sprint car racer Adrian Tetreault, but despite a relentless string of rainouts, he is finding ways to stay focused, connected, and optimistic about the remainder of the 2025 season.

“This is the worst year I can remember for rainouts,” Tetreault shared. “It’s not just the Northeast or the Southeast—it’s been bad everywhere. And with limited seat time, it’s been hard to build momentum.”

Earlier this month, Tetreault made the long haul to Benton, Missouri, where he competed in a mixed-field sprint car event that even included a 410 competitor. Despite a late-race vibration issue, he brought the car home with a 10th-place finish.

“We were right there in lap times,” he said. “The car felt good until those late cautions. I couldn’t tell if the vibration was from mud or a potential engine issue, and being a one-motor program, I had to play it safe.”

While the racing was solid, it was Kids Night at Benton Speedway that left a lasting impression. With free grandstand admission for all fans and an on-track meet-and-greet, the event created a special atmosphere.

“They brought everyone down to the track, and those kids looked at us like we were rock stars,” Tetreault said. “It was one of the best nights I’ve ever experienced as a driver. The smiles, the excitement—there’s nothing better than seeing that kind of joy and knowing we’re inspiring the next generation of racers and fans.”

Since then, Tetreault has torn through the fuel system and plugs, using every tool available to diagnose the mystery vibration. “Everything looks right, but I won’t know for sure until we’re back on the track.”

Tetreault returns to action this August 2 at East Alabama Motor Speedway with the Southern Sprint Car Association Renegades—an organization he’s committed to for the 2025 season.

“With a single motor, I have to be selective about where I race,” he said. “If something breaks, it could take us out for the season, and I don’t want to let the series down.”

Outside of the car, Adrian has worked hard to maintain visibility and engagement on social media, using photos, sponsor spotlights, and video content to keep fans updated.

“We’ve had some fun with sponsor content—trying to keep it candid and real—but I’ve also re-worked some pieces at the request of a few partners. If they’re supporting me, I want to represent them the best I can.”

Speaking of sponsors, Midas Automotive has emerged as a key partner for the Tetreault team this season.

“They’ve been incredible,” he said. “Ron and the team have been open to ideas, and we’re cooking up something big for next year. I can’t say much yet, but let’s just say you may see us step into a new chapter.”

Midas has already made waves in the national motorsports scene, appearing on an ARCA car at both Talladega and Indy, and their partnership with Baker River Racing could lead to even bigger developments for 2026.

In the meantime, Adrian is taking a rare break from the grind with a trip to Central Pennsylvania. He’ll be at Williams Grove Speedway on Friday, August 15, catching up with fans on the iconic Beer Hill before heading to visit family in his native New England.

“I’m a transplant from the Northeast,” he said. “So it’s always good to come back. I’ll have stickers, maybe a few shirts—fans can shoot me a message on social and I’ll bring your order up with me.

Ashley Cappetta Battles Mechanical Issues in Return to Port Royal Speedway

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

After a five-year absence from the Speed Palace, Ashley Cappetta returned to Port Royal Speedway with high hopes on Saturday night—but mechanical gremlins had other plans. Cappetta’s night was filled with troubleshooting and perseverance as she fought through persistent issues with horsepower and ultimately made the tough call to pull off early in the feature to prevent further damage.

Cappetta last raced at Port Royal in 2020, making Saturday’s return a long-awaited one. “I love the track and wish we could get there more often,” said Cappetta. “Unfortunately, from the start of the night, we just couldn’t find any horsepower.”

Despite adjusting gears and fuel settings, her team continued to chase a solution throughout the evening. “In warm-ups, I only turned 7,200 RPM, which was a red flag. Normally I’m way past that at Lincoln, and Port is a faster track. I knew something wasn’t right,” she explained.

Cappetta got a solid launch in her heat race, but was quickly overtaken—a sign that the issue hadn’t been resolved. In the feature, things went from bad to worse when she felt something hit the bottom of the car. She pushed on but couldn’t find the speed she needed. “I heard a weird noise from the motor and just knew something was off.”

Playing it smart, Cappetta exited the race early to avoid a catastrophic failure. Once off the track, the issue revealed itself—oil was pouring out from a hole in the oil pan, the result of debris damage. While initial concerns pointed to a possible blown motor, her engine builder, Paul, later diagnosed the real culprit: a weak fuel pump.

“Paul flowed the pump on Sunday and confirmed it was barely functioning. That explains why we had zero power,” Cappetta said. “Thankfully, there was no major engine damage, and Dean Bowman already repaired the oil pan. We’ll send the pump out this week and get it fixed.”

While the night didn’t go as planned, Cappetta was encouraged by the full field of 358s and the strong racing that fans got to witness. “The division put on a great show despite a few mishaps. I’m proud of everyone who made the trip and gave it their all. That’s what we need to keep showing other tracks—358s can put on a great race.”

Next up, Cappetta and her team will head to BAPS Motor Speedway this Saturday, as they look to bounce back and continue their strong 2025 season.

First PA Speedweek Full of Learning Experiences for Lattomus

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Lewes, DE – July 7, 2025

The end of June means the start of Pennsylvania Sprint Car Speedweek. For the young Delaware native, Preston Lattomus, this meant an opportunity to compete in one of the toughest weeks in the region. Having stepped up from the 358 ranks at the end of last season, learning has been the name of the game in 2025. While a few shows would end up falling to Mother Nature, the driver of the 91 did gain some valuable experience and made improvements at tracks, even if the results didn’t show it.

“Our goal for Speedweek was to improve every time we hit the track, and I feel we did that.”

With rain taking out the first two shows of the series, BAPS Motor Speedway took center stage as the Speedweek opener. Preston, after qualifying 19th in his flight, went 10th to 9th in his heat. After a B Main effort of 15th, the first night of the week was in the books. Not the strongest effort, but it got the week started, which was the biggest part of being able to learn.

Against the odds, the following night at Lincoln Speedway did happen. Rain was all around the speedway, and it did end up claiming the last five laps of the feature. For Preston, the night started off with a 16th-place qualifying effort. Starting 8th in his heat, he was able to make his way up to 7th, missing out on the transfer by two spots. The 9th position would be the start and finish for the 91 car, in the B Main, wrapping up night two of competition.

Some valuable experience came during the Wednesday night show at Port Royal Speedway. Having limited winged starts at The Speed Palace, Lattomus was able to run double-duty, as the URC 360’s joined the card that evening. Sometimes, getting to slow things down and just being on the track more can help a driver find little areas to improve upon.

“I can definitely say running both classes helped because of being able to keep up with the track very well,” stated Preston. Motor problems with the 360 made a 12th-place finish a little bit of a disappointing night on that end, as hopes were high for the URC portion of the program. Preston would find a little more speed in the 410, timing in 14th and finishing 8th in his heat, before an 11th-place B Main finish.

Another big half mile appeared on the schedule the following night as the team headed to Hagerstown Speedway. Speed was more evident for the team, as Lattomus was able to put in a solid qualifying effort and make the show out of the B Main. In the feature, Preston was able to make up a few spots, coming home in 19th, but most importantly, making the show and finishing the feature, which helped gain some more valuable experience.

The Mitch Smith Memorial brought the team back to more familiar territory, and the Williams Grove Speedway. With another top 15 qualifying run, Preston would roll off 7th in his heat and finish 9th, sending him to the B Main. The Delaware native showed some good speed and the ability to move around and stay out of some wrecks, going 13th to 6th, and just barely missing out on the transfer position.

Saturday night’s show at Port Royal Speedway would be the final night the 91 team would compete on the Speedweek trail. And it was a great way to finish out the long week. Lattomus had his best qualifying effort of the week, timing in 6th in his group.

“The guys told me where to run and how to run it right before I went out, and the qualifying effort put us upfront in a heat race.” With a first row starting spot in the heat, a lot of good cars were around the 91 car, but Preston was able to show some great speed and maintain his second starting spot and transfer into the 30-lap feature event. Rolling off 9th in the feature was one of Preston’s best starting positions of the season. Once the green flag dropped, the young racer was able to maintain and hang around inside the top 12.

“As we got going in the feature, I could feel I had a great car capable of moving forward.” However, troubles came about after only 5 laps. “And when things just started to click, we had a power steering problem that ended our night.” A disappointing end to what appeared to be a promising night.

However, the overall goal for the team and driver was to improve, and that happened. Speedweek is also one of the toughest weeks in dirt track racing.

“Pennsylvania Speedweek is different from anything I’ve ever done because it’s longer and at a higher level,” stated Lattomus. The format also can present challenges for some, with teams having to time trial every night, which isn’t the norm at most weekly shows.

“The challenges that come along with time trial shows for me are really this time of year,” said Preston. “Qualifying becomes very technical with how the track changes. I prefer time trial shows over redraw or handicap because it’s what they do every race at the highest level.” Having this be a part of the week helped to build a bigger mental notebook for the young 18-year-old racer.

Even with results not all showing the speed the team is capable of, Lattoums was still happy with how it went.

“This 91 team brings a great piece to the track every night. I know once I get on the same page as the car, I will really start getting into a flow and the good runs will come in more often.”

The team looks to take a week off and get ready for Williams Grove on the 18th and hopefully build up some more speed and confidence, as the World of Outlaws soon come to town, to round out the month.
