With the race season already flying by in what has been a whirlwind season for the young racer, Lane would have the month of July to race all three cars he’s been running in the late model ranks. Results have been all over the board, but speed has been a consistent piece most nights.

Kicking off the month of July, Lane would get to wheel the Bruce Kane 15K at Bedford Speedway. The pairing of Kane and Lane was still very new, and the package was still lacking a little speed. Snook would go 8th to 7th in the heat, and the 13th to 12th in the feature. “Car was handling good, just had no speed.” This would be the only start in the 15K for the month.

Moving onto the next night of competition on the 10th, Lane went to Selinsgrove in the limited late model division. Lane nearly won his heat from 5th and then started in the 5th spot in the feature. As the green flew, he would drop back a few spots at the beginning of the feature. 

Snook started to search around the track for speed and, “ran the very top to make our way back to 4th with a restart with 6 to go.” That was a timely caution for Snook. He “was able to get to third off the restart, then get by the two leaders coming to 2 to go, for the win.” A great performance and certainly showed the continued speed of the limited program that fans witnessed park in victory lane a lot in 2025.

The following evening, the team had a home game at the Port Royal Speedway in the limited car. Lane would win his heat and then start on the pole of the feature.

“Didn’t get a good enough start to get to the top early and lost a few spots. Ended up running 4th most of the race, then with a car breaking and a couple restarts we ended up 3rd. I just felt like our car wasn’t very balanced.”

After taking a little damage at the end of the race and getting that fixed up, the team also decided to drop a super motor in the car and head over to Path Valley the following weekend.

Against ULMS at the small ¼ mile of Path Valley, Lane would have a very solid evening, timing in 2nd in his group and winning his heat. The track would make it a little tricky for Lane in the feature. After starting 3rd, Lane “got stuck on the bottom again early and lost a few spots. It was a little tight at the beginning, but the car was good at the end of the race, but with there being little passing, we ended up 6th.”

Snook would then go to Hagerstown to once again race with ULMS. The car was just a little off all night by the driver and team’s standards. “Qualified 11th in our group. Started 6th and ran 5th in our heat, which put us on the pole of the B-Main, where we finished 2nd. Then started 20th in the feature and finished 17th. Just kind of struggled to find speed all night.” 

Aside from races that featured mechanical issues, this was Lane’s worst finish of the season in the 23 car with the super under the hood. The team would, however, turn things around the rest of the month and pick up momentum.

Traveling back over to Selinsgrove in the super the next week, Lane qualified 2nd overall and won his heat. After rolling from the pole in the feature, Snook “led the first 19 laps, dicing through traffic, until we blew a right rear tire.”

An unfortunate moment for the young racer. “I lapped to 12th, so I got back to 10th in the remaining 6 laps after changing the tire.” The first super late model triumph would have to wait for another time.

In the final show of the month, Lane would travel west to Bedford Speedway as the fair and races took center stage. Lane started 6th in his heat and had a little hiccup and tagged the wall, but still managed a 4th place finish.

“After the crew and I got the car fixed, we started 11th in the feature. The car in front of me broke on the first lap in 1-2, and I had nowhere to go, and ended up falling back to 15th. I ran the top to get back to 9th, then with another car breaking, I got to 8th and finished there,” Snook explained.

“I felt we had a much better car than the results showed, but it was hard to pass once everyone moved to the top.” It was a good bounce-back after early misfortune, and showed the car could move forward even with a tricky track surface.

The next night, Snook would travel back over to Selinsgrove to open the month of August. Lane started off the night strong and timed in 2nd and then won his heat. With a front row starting spot in the feature, Lane would be in a good position to potentially win. Lane once again took the lead at the drop of the green. He was able to maintain the top spot until a restart with about 10 laps to go, where he got passed. Snook held on to finish second and tie his best finish of the season in the super late division.

Overall, the month of racing was nothing super special in terms of results, but the speed the team and driver were able to find at times shows that the package is coming together on a wide variety of tracks. Netting a win and strong podium with the limited, and accruing several top 10 finishes in the super, Lane looks to keep the positives coming in August.

As of now, the 23 car will be in action at the big half-miles of Selinsgrove and Hagerstown on August 7th and 8th. Then it will head to Bedford on the 14th. Snook also plans to run at Port Royal on the 22nd, in either the 23 or the 15K.

The last weekend of the month, the 15K will come out to race against the Lucas Oil Late Models in the Rumble By The River at Port. Lane will be getting that car ready this week.

“We took the car I ran at Lernerville and Bedford to Rocket. It was bent in the front end; got that all fixed now, gonna go put it together this week.”

Snook also mentioned he is “very excited to test in the next couple of weeks coming up” as they prepare for some big shows in the coming months.

Changes for racecar drivers are always difficult. New packages, new crew members, and sometimes new tracks. As Lane Snook started a new venture in the Bruce Kane 15K, he found that there would be things that would be different from his usual 23-car. After participating in the Dirt Late Model Dream at Eldora, Lane was ready to continue to improve in the 15K and also keep the consistency in the family car.

After returning from Eldora, Lane would get back to his normal home tracks of Selinsgrove and Port Royal. Selinsgrove would be first up on Friday night (6/12). Snook was able to win his heat and roll off 3rd in the feature, but a little misfortune befell him in that race. Lane, “went for a pass for the lead on the first lap and tagged the inside wall, which caused our left front tire to go flat. Then the nose folded under in the next corner, which ended our night.” A quick ending to what looked to be a promising night, but the team and driver made up for that bad luck the following night at Port Royal.

The limited late model would be the car of choice at The Speed Palace.

“Started on the pole of our heat and won it again. Then started 4th in the feature, and ran there for a few laps, then after a restart we got to second and a couple laps later was able to make the pass for the lead and was able to drive off and win with a really good car.”

This win marked the 5th victory of the season for Lane, which was still close to the number of victories the young racer had in 2025 at this point of the season.

To gain some extra seat time and to try and work on some of the feel things that needed to be changed, Lane and the BKR 15K went to Selinsgrove the following week. Snook would qualify 10th and run 5th in his heat, before rolling off 13th in the feature. The 15K “drove up to 4th in around 15-20 laps, then blew a right rear tire, which caused us to hit the fence and ended our night in 15th with a DNF.” 

Sadly, Lane’s best run in the new ride did not come to fruition. Another challenge for the new pairing, with yet another on the way.

That new challenge would be traveling to a new track for Lane, in Lernerville, with the 15K. This being the first time Lane had turned laps at Lernerville in a late model, it was definitely going to be a weekend of learning. Having to wait an extra night due to weather, Lane got to test his luck on Friday. Lane qualified 12th in his group. Started 6th in his heat, but backed up to 10th. In his first feature there, he would start and finish in the 20th position.

“The next day we started and finished 10th in our heat, then decided it was best to load up and head back to the shop to see where we were lacking speed.” 

It was proving to be a bit of a learning period with the new team, but Lane was still having a good time. “We’re all having fun, and the results will come over time as we get the car more balanced to my liking.” 

What has been the biggest challenge so far for the young Port Royal racer is adjusting from what he’s used to to Bruce’s equipment. 

“Being in different equipment is something I’m still getting used to a little. We are working on getting the cars more equal to where I’m more comfortable.” 

Snook is also having fun getting to run at different tracks and do it against the big names of the sport. “It’s definitely a challenge, racing against guys that good, and being in new equipment.” Lane is also hopeful and thankful for this new opportunity with Bruce. 

“Things are going great with Bruce and everyone who wrenches on the 15K. I can’t thank Bruce enough for the opportunity, and everyone who works on the car for the help!” 

While the 15K side of Lane’s racing schedule is still tentative, he does plan to race the family 23 car on a few occasions in July. 

As of now, the first few weeks of July feature doubleheader weekends. Kicking off an already hot month of July, Lane will travel to Bedford and Port Royal on July 3rd and 4th to race in the super late model division. Snook will then race at Selinsgrove and Port Royal in the limited division on the 10th and 11th. Lane does hope to be on track later in the month with the 15K as well, but plans were not set in stone yet.

The first week for most drivers in a new car comes on a small stage, where there is little pressure. But that’s been done before, so why not start at one of the biggest late model shows of the year against one of the toughest fields? 

The newfound pairing of Lane Snook and Bruce Kane would take aim at the Eldora Speedway and the Dirt Late Model Dream for their first event. 

They would start off with the FloRacing Night in America show on Wednesday. Timing in towards the back of his group and going 13th to 12th in the heat would send Snook to the B Main. Starting 17th in that race, Lane was able to move up to 12th. On to qualifying night for The Dream. 

Thursday would be the team’s attempt at a qualifying night. Lane would post a better time trial result and start 9th in his heat. He “ran 10th after spring steel got under the right-front tire.” Again finding himself in the B-Main, Snook and team made some progress and moved forward again, while also showing speed. “Ran 7th with the fastest lap times on track at the end of the race.” 

Moving into Saturday’s finale, Mother Nature threw the team a challenge as Lane was scheduled to start 12th in his heat, and with the rain-soaked track being narrow, passing was at a premium. “Was going forward at the beginning, and another car hit the slime on the track and pushed into us.” Having to go to the last row, Lane was able to get back up to 12th, but troubles befell the 15K, as “a fuel line broke and ended our weekend.” 

Even with the results not showing, it was still a successful week for the 18-year-old. Getting more media exposure and fan exposure was just one of the positives. Lane also noted that he “learned a lot from all the good people around me, and a lot about the race track and how to drive it.” Finding improvements every time they hit the track was a key objective that Snook felt they accomplished. 

“I felt our car wasn’t bad at the end of the nights, but needed to improve at the beginning of the night.” 

Part of this new venture is both parties figuring each other out. Having never driven the 15K prior to the Dream, kinks of course needed to be worked out in the differences between what Lane is used to and what the 15K rolls out of the trailer with. 

“I had a different shock package on and just some other setup stuff on the car I’m not used to on my car at home,” mentioned Snook. 

Bruce and Lane look to iron out things, as they plan to get in a few practice sessions prior to their next scheduled event. That event is another big show in the Firecracker 100 at Lernerville (June 25th-27th). While there is still lots to learn about each other, Lane is hopeful that this opportunity with Bruce will prove fruitful for both parties, and wants to again thank everyone involved for the chance to showcase his talent.
