Tyler Ross Makes Change, Finds Speed Before Big Shows Roll In

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Tyler Ross made the decision to make a change.  Sunday night at BAPS Motor Speedway he got confirmation of his instincts.

The Ross Racing, Bush Auto Group, Fastrak Express Inc., Stateline Truck and Trailer, Stoltzfus Farm Service/Kubota, Betts Garage No.5 was quick in qualifying and claimed a heat race win over some of the best cars in the field.

QUICK RESULTS:

  • Date/Location:  April 18, 2025 / Williams Grove Speedway, Mechanicsburg, PA
  • StatsGroup 2 Qualifying 14th, Heat 8th (7), B-main 5th

  • Date/Location:  April 19, 2025 / Lincoln Speedway, Abbottstown, PA
  • StatsQualifying 23rd, Heat 6th (8), A-main 9th (17)

  • Date/Location:  April 27, 2025 / BAPS Motor Speedway, York Haven, PA
  • StatsGroup 3 Qualifying 4th, Heat 1st (1), A-main 14th (7)

Ross has struggled to find speed early in the evening, especially since crashing and repairing his primary car early in the season.

Last weekend the team made their first trip of the year to Williams Grove Speedway, where they had the same issue and missed the show by one spot.

“The Grove has always been a love/hate for us, so I wasn’t totally sure whether to blame the car or myself for not qualifying better.”, Ross said.

The following night at Lincoln Speedway, where Ross has plenty of seat time, it happened again.  He was 23rd best under the clock and had to fight his way to a top-ten finish from the 17th starting spot in the 30-lap A-main.

Ross has collected six top-ten finishes this year, with five of them being earned from starting spots of 12th or deeper in the field.

“After Saturday, I was convinced it was the car.  In my mind, it was time for a change.  The car just had not been responding to adjustments since the mid-March crashes and subsequent repairs.“, Ross shared.

Ross and his team pulled out a car he had run well in last season at some big shows and put it back together for Sunday’s race at BAPS.

After qualifying well and winning his heat, Ross started 7th in the A-main but got bottled up on the start and had to pit with a flat tire.  Fortunately, he was able to change it in time and rejoin the race at the rear of the field.

“I went back out and figured I’d make a few laps.  I didn’t even have a W-link after the flat, but I was passing cars.  Since the points fund BAPS (Motor Speedway) is pretty good, I figured why not try to get what I can get.”, Ross said.

“I feel comfortable again.  I’m happy with the car.  It’s doing what we want it to do when we make adjustments.  You can’t be going into big shows struggling.  We had to make a change.”

The bigger shows are coming soon, so hopefully this was the right change at the right time for Ross to make the most at those events.

This weekend, the team plans to be at Lincoln Speedway for their final chance to prepare for Tuesday’s World of Outlaw race at the Abbottstown, PA oval.

Adapting to Challenges: Preston Lattomus on Qualifying, Learning, and Growth

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Abbottstown, PA – April 23, 2025

by Addicted2Dirt PR & Media Mgmt

Photo Credit:  Jeremy Zarfos / WRT Speedwerx

Preston Lattomus said from the beginning that his rookie campaign in a winged 410 sprint car would be all about seat time.  The more laps, the better.

He’s right.  The tough Central Pennsylvania sprint car scene can be unforgiving, and the only way to assimilate is to keep playing the game until you understand all the nuances and get really good at it.

So far in April, Lattomus has competed at three different tracks in a total of five events.

“I’m not where I want to be, but we have been experiencing something new almost every week.  It’s either a new track for me in a 410, or even if I have been there before, it might have been a day race, and the next time it’s a night race.”, Lattomus explained.

“I’m just trying to make features and get the maximum number of laps I can each night out because that’s the fastest way to learn.”

QUICK RESULTS:

  • Date/Location:  April 4, 2025 – Williams Grove Speedway, Mechanicsburg, PA
  • Stats:  Heat 8th (8), A-main 16th (19)
  • Date/Location:  April 5, 2025 – Lincoln Speedway, Abbottstown, PA
  • Stats:  Heat 10th (4), A-main 20th (23)
  • Date/Location:  April 13, 2025 – BAPS Motor Speedway, York Haven, PA
  • Stats:  Group Qualifying 5th, Heat 6th (5), B-main 6th (3)
  • Date/Location:  April 18, 2025 – Williams Grove Speedway, Mechanicsburg, PA
  • Stats:  Group Qualifying 14th, Heat 8th (7), B-main 7th (11)
  • Date/Location:  April 19, 2025 – Lincoln Speedway, Abbottstown, PA
  • Stats:  Qualifying 24th, Heat 8th (8), A-main 18th (23)

One of the key differences that Lattomus is working to adapt to is qualifying under the clock, often referred to as time trials.  That was something that was pretty rare in the 358 sprint car division.

“I need to qualify better and put myself in a position to race with better cars.  Racing with the experienced, veteran drivers makes you better.”, Lattomus said.

“In 358’s, I came to the track knowing I could win any given night.  I had the confidence because I had raced a lot, and I knew how to achieve that.  Already this season, my thinking has changed to being a student of the game.”

Lattomus has good support in his pit to help him on his journey.  Scott McClaren, who made a lot of the decisions and adjustments for the 358 team, is still there.  Kyle Reinhardt, who recently stepped out of the seat after ten successful years in a 410 sprint car, is also there.  Reinhardt collaborates with McClaren and Lattomus, mentoring the young driver and handling a lot of the adjustments.

“Kyle and Scott have been great.  I told Kyle I feel like I need to do a better job of giving feedback on what I feel and what I need.  There’s a lot to process and get used to, so I can be good at that.  I’ll get there.”, Lattomus shared.

It’s not all about the experience in the cockpit.  The team has battled a few mechanical and motor issues in the early going this season.  Every team faces that.  Lattomus knows he has the equipment and the support around him to be competitive, and he knows he will get there.

“I try to focus on the big picture, the learning, the improvements.  If I get too wrapped up in results, it can take a toll on my confidence.  I just take a day to process our night, put things in perspective, and learn from the opportunities.”, Lattomus explained.

“While I expect to be good and I challenge myself to be the best I can be, I take a moment to realize where I am in the scheme of laps and races.  I’m competing against guys who have a lot of 410 races under their belt.”

Lattomus is looking forward to the team’s upcoming three-race weekend and is aiming to capitalize on it to log a lot of laps.  Over the upcoming April 25-27 weekend, the team will compete at Williams Grove Speedway on Friday, Lincoln Speedway on Saturday, and BAPS Motor Speedway on Sunday.

“The challenge of putting together the best laps I can in qualifying or in a race is exciting to me.  I’m excited about the opportunity I have to race this Capitol Custom Trailers & Coaches, EZGO Golf Cars, Betts Garage No.91 sprint car.  I’m excited because I know what we can and will accomplish eventually.”

Hartlaub Finding His Rhythm in First Starts of 2025

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Abbottstown, PA – April 22, 2025

by Addicted2Dirt PR & Media Mgmt

Image Credit:  Jeremy Zarfos / WRT Speedwerx

Kody Hartlaub made the decision last fall to get back into the Brewer/Hartlaub NinetyFive Motorsports car for the 2025 season.  While he was anxious to do so, he patiently waited for better weather, opting to skip some opportunities to race in late February and early March.

He kicked things off on March 30th in the Brewer Home Improvements, J Fuels, Bigham Appraisal, Moose Blocks, Griffith Plumbing Services, T&N Solutions No.95.  Then, thanks to the unpredictable early Spring weather, he raced only two more times over the next two weeks.  Over those first three races, Hartlaub showed speed and glimpses of the type of performance he expects, but it was tough to establish a good rhythm.

QUICK RESULTS:

  • Date/Location:  March 30, 2025 / BAPS Motor Speedway, York Haven, PA
  • Stats:  Qualifying 1st in Group, Heat 5th (4), A-main 20th (3)
  • Date/Location:  April 5, 2025 / Lincoln Speedway, Abbottstown, PA
  • Stats:  Heat 5th (10), A-main 12th (13)
  • Date/Location:  April 13, 2025 / BAPS Motor Speedway, York Haven, PA
  • Stats:  Qualifying 2nd in Group, Heat 3rd (3), A-main 18th (13)
  • Date/Location:  April 18, 2025 / Williams Grove Speedway, Mechanicsburg, PA
  • Stats:  Qualifying 3rd in Group, Heat 1st (1), A-main 10th (7)
  • Date/Location:  April 19, 2025 / Lincoln Speedway, Abbottstown, PA
  • Stats:  Qualifying 5th, Heat 1st (1), A-main 10th (5)

“I knew the car had speed.  The driver just wasn’t as good as the car.”, Hartlaub shared, reflecting on his own performance in his opener at BAPS Motor Speedway.

“I need to get better.  We were the quickest in our group in hot laps.  I made a couple of mistakes in the heat race, but we were already in the redraw, so I just learned from that and moved on.”

“We were pretty good in the feature and had a top-ten run going before the contact with the 39 ended that.  All in all, it wasn’t a bad opener.  We just didn’t get the result we should have had.”

Hartlaub is harder on himself than anyone else could ever be.  It drives him to work extremely hard at learning the craft of wheeling these winged 900+ horsepower beasts.

The following week at Lincoln Speedway’s handicap show, Hartlaub started deep in his heat race but passed five cars to put himself in a much better position for the night.  He started 13th and finished 12th in the 30-lap A-main.

“I probably had a car capable of 8th-10th.  I need to clean up a few things behind the wheel to make sure we get the finishes the car is capable of.”, Hartlaub commented.

This past weekend, Hartlaub carried out his first two-race weekend of the season.  He made the most of it, scoring two heat race wins and two top-ten feature finishes.

“At Williams Grove, I felt like we didn’t leave anything on the table.  The car was capable of 9th or 10th, and that’s right where I ended up.”, Hartlaub said.

Saturday night at Lincoln Speedway, the East Berlin, PA resident went out late for qualifying and clocked in 5th fastest.

Hartlaub later stated he probably had a 7th-place car, so the 10th-place finish was a tad short of his goal.

“The team and I are learning a lot already.  There are things I like and don’t like, so I think we will be even better next time.”, Hartlaub said.

“Racing inside the top ten is tough.  That’s what I’m working on the most right now.  The guys that are running up front like that never take a lap off.  They are always going all out, and they will take advantage of any mistake.”

We’ve got what it takes to be a weekly contender.  This year I have Justin taking care of the car and setup, so I can really focus on my job behind the wheel.  It just takes laps.  There’s no replacement for seat time.  “

Ross Finding His Groove, Scores Fourth Consecutive Top Ten

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

York Haven, PA – April 16, 2025

by Addicted2Dirt PR & Media Mgmt

Image Credit:  Jeremy Zarfos / WRT Speedwerx

Tyler Ross has spun off four top ten finishes in a row in Central Pennsylvania 410 sprint car racing, quickly putting a couple of early-season crashes behind him.  The next step for the team from Lincoln University, PA is to crack the podium and find their first win of the season.

“I’m happy with the consistency. Of course, we’d like to run these top tens into top 5s, but that will come. There are things we need to improve on, but I feel like we’re heading in the right direction.”, Ross commented.

Ross does have one top-five this season, and another potential one slipped away after a controversial call by an official sent him to the rear of the field during the team’s first race of the season.

QUICK RESULTS:

  • Date:  April 5, 2025
  • Division:  410 Sprint Cars
  • Location:  Lincoln Speedway, Abbottstown, PA
  • Stats:  Heat 4th (5), A-main 8th (12)

  • Date:  April 13, 2025
  • Division:  410 Sprint Cars
  • Location:  BAPS Motor Speedway, York Haven, PA
  • Stats:  Heat 4th (5), A-main 9th (14)

Over the past two weekends, Ross has been in competition at Lincoln Speedway and BAPS Motor Speedway.  In both events, he raced from outside the top ten to 8th and 9th place finishes, respectively.

Each time they hit the track, Ross and his team are improving as the night goes on.  In his last four main events, he is +21 positions, passing nearly two dozen cars to secure those top ten finishes.

Ross has been moving forward early in the evening, too.  In eight heat races this season, he is +9 positions.

“With the two time trial shows we’ve had at BAPS, we’ve been a tick off. The first time was just after the crashes, and the car wasn’t quite right.  This past weekend was a driver error in time trials that put us behind. That’s something I need to clean up here pretty quickly as we approach more time trial shows.”, Ross shared.

“I feel like if we can get to a better starting position, we will get those better finishes. All in all, I’m happy to have speed and consistency.”

In 2024, time trial events helped Ross shine, showing his speed with solid qualifying runs and positioning himself for great feature results.  It’s likely he will regain that form and create those opportunities again this season for himself and his team.

Tyler will be back in action this Saturday at Lincoln Speedway in the Ross Racing, Bush Auto Group, Fastrak Express Inc., Stateline Truck and Trailer, Stoltzfus Farm Service/Kubota, Betts Garage No.5.

Tyler Ross Bounces Back with Back-to-Back Top Ten Finishes

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

York Haven, PA – April 2, 2025

by Addicted2Dirt PR & Media Mgmt

Image Credit:  Jeremy Zarfos / WRT Speedwerx

Tyler Ross’s first two runs of the 2025 season produced solid, consistent performances for the Ross Racing, Bush Auto Group, Fastrak Express Inc., Stateline Truck and Trailer, Stoltzfus Farm Service/Kubota, Betts Garage No.5.  Those outings confirmed that the team’s hard work during the offseason was time well spent.

The confidence gained in those early races became even more valuable after the next few races.  Ross has shown speed in his recent races but has produced mixed results, including crashing twice.  The solid start now serves as a good reminder of what he and the team are capable of and that recent events are just part of the game.

It’s been tough to get into a rhythm.  Crashes are part of racing and don’t necessarily reflect anything negative about the driver.  Sometimes you are just in the wrong place at the wrong time.

Still, drivers are human and nights like those can affect their mindset until they can replace those thoughts with positive results.

“Getting upside down two weeks in a row killed our momentum. The driver lost some confidence.”, Ross admitted.

“Wrecking back-to-back weeks changes the mindset a tad bit because I want to make sure we have enough equipment to get to the end of the year. Although it’s not a good way to look at it, it’s tough for our family-owned deal.”

“Crashes absolutely affect your approach.  Especially back-to-back like that.  A one-off crash is easier to put out of your mind but two in a row makes you start to think more.  The key is to get back on the track and log solid runs to get your confidence back up and get the team back up to speed.  That was our goal this past weekend.”

Ross tackled Lincoln Speedway once again on Saturday night and made the trip to BAPS Motor Speedway on Sunday night in search of finding his rhythm.

Ross started both nights over the weekend by making sure he put his team in the show, then went to work moving forward in both features.

The Lincoln University (PA) product passed six cars in each main event, putting himself at +12 for the weekend.  At the end of both nights, the car went into the trailer in one piece.

It was the kind of weekend the team needed to find their groove again.

“Running two days this past weekend was good for us. Yes, we finished 10th from 16th at Lincoln but we knew we were off a bit. We came home after and went through the car again and found some things.  I was a lot more comfortable Sunday at BAPS (Motor Speedway).”, Ross shared.

“I think we’re on track. We showed speed and bounced back with two top-ten finishes after two unfortunate weeks.”

“After a car is repaired from a crash, sometimes it’s not the same as it was before, so it’s kind of like you’re starting over with your notes.  I think we’re just learning what our car wants now.  I have the confidence in my team to get me as comfortable as I was the first few weeks.”

“We’re just gonna keep digging.”

Have no doubt.  They will keep digging and they will make headlines in 2025.

Ross will be back behind the wheel this weekend at Lincoln Speedway.  Racing starts at 6 pm on Saturday night, April 5th.

Lattomus Embracing the Learning Curve in Rookie 410 Season

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

York Haven, PA – April 2, 2025

by Addicted2Dirt PR & Media Mgmt

Photo Credit:  Jeremy Zarfos / WRT Speedwerx

Half of Preston Lattomus’ first six attempts to get seat time early in his rookie 410 sprint car season have fallen victim to Mother Nature.  After a lone mid-March start, the Lewes, DE resident finally put a two-race weekend under his belt as March drew to a close last weekend.

While the laps and tracks have been somewhat limited, there’s really no such thing as limited learning time when a driver straps into a winged 410 sprint car.  Every corner and every decision provides opportunities to gain experience.

“The weather has been killing us recently, but after 3 races I am learning the differences in the power from the 358 to the 410, and how to use it.”, Lattomus shared.

“Just racing with 410 guys a few times has taught me a lot.  They are aggressive from start to finish.”

Lattomus has raced twice at Lincoln Speedway in Pennsylvania so far this year, earning top-ten and top-five starting spots in those two main events.  The first ended badly, with the rookie upside down tearing up a car.  He fared much better in his most recent outing, finishing 14th.

“410 (sprint car) racing is different.  The intensity and the skill level is way more than I could have imagined., but I’m up for the challenge.”, Lattomus commented.

QUICK RESULTS:

  • Date:  March 15, 2025
  • Division:  410 Sprint Cars
  • Location:  Lincoln Speedway, Abbottstown, PA
  • Stats:  Heat 4th (3), A-main 21st (10)
  • Date:  March 29, 2025
  • Division:  410 Sprint Cars
  • Location:  Lincoln Speedway, Abbottstown, PA
  • Stats:  Heat 2nd (3), A-main 14th (4)
  • Date:  March 30, 2025
  • Division:  410 Sprint Cars
  • Location:  BAPS Motor Speedway, York Haven, PA
  • Stats:  Group 2 Qualifying 7th, Heat 9th (7), B-main 5th (8), A-main 13th (23)

Sunday night Lattomus took to BAPS Motor Speedway where he captured a 358 sprint car win last season.  His qualifying effort put him behind but the Annapolis, MD native clawed his way into the feature through the B-main, then proceeded to charge from his 23rd starting spot to a 13th place finish.

“Coming into 410 racing I have been trying to keep my expectations low, but that’s just not who I am. I always want to do better and run the best laps to my ability.”, Lattomus said.

“As results go, I always want to do better, but right now our biggest goal is to learn and log good laps.”

The young wheelman knows how to race and he knows how to win.  The learning curve in a 410 sprint car can certainly take time to navigate, but with a nearly 70-race schedule planned, even conceding some events to the weather, Lattomus should get at least 50 nights in the seat of the Capitol Custom Trailers & Coaches, EZGO Golf Cars, Betts Garage No.91 in 2025.  That’s a lot of laps and a lot of lessons.

There’s no doubt Lattomus will show glimpses of his potential throughout the season and when things go his way, he will turn some heads.  For now, he is patiently putting in the work to make himself and the car the best they can be.

“In the next couple of weeks, we have a good bit of racing.  I can’t wait to finally get to Williams Grove.  I’m looking forward to getting back to BAPS (Motor Speedway) too because it was a lot of fun come feature time Sunday.  I think it will be really good when they aren’t rushed.  When the track prep right is more typical, it will be really fun to race on.”, Lattomus predicted.

“We have a lot of racing ahead of us this season.  I’m going to focus on working with and listening to Kyle (Reinhardt) and Scott (McClaren) to build our notebook and get better every week.”

Strong Start for Tyler Ross: Early Results Establishing Confidence

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Abbottstown, PA – March 13, 2025

by Addicted2Dirt PR & Media Mgmt

The start of the 2025 season has shown promising signs for Tyler Ross.  In both events he has entered at Lincoln Speedway in Pennsylvania thus far, he has passed cars and moved forward each time he has hit the track.

His start lays a solid foundation for a potential breakout season, showing both his level of comfort in the car and his team’s approach to race day changes are on point.

“I feel like we have good speed, and I can put the car wherever it needs to be. I think just a better starting position would make a huge difference.”, Ross shared following his second outing of the young 2025 season.

Ross was referring to the luck of the draw used to set heat race starting spots for the two events thus far.  Given the speed the car has so far, he is confident he will be in good shape when time trials are used to set lineups.

Coming off a four-month break, being sharp and comfortable behind the wheel doesn’t necessarily come easy, but Ross is feeling great so far this year.

“Honestly, this is the most comfortable I’ve been in a car starting the season. The car is good, and I’m probably more focused as I’ve ever been.”, Ross commented.

“I think we’re all just focused on our jobs at the track. Everyone knows what needs to be done with no questions asked.”

That is a sign of a team who is leaning on the experience from competing together for a full season in the Ross Racing, Bush Auto Group, Fastrak Express Inc., Stateline Truck and Trailer, Stoltzfus Farm Service/Kubota, Betts Garage No.5 in 2024.

QUICK RESULTS:

  • Date:  February 23, 2025
  • Event:  Icebreaker 30
  • Division:  410 Sprint Cars
  • Location:  Lincoln Speedway, Abbottstown, PA
  • Stats:  28 cars, Heat 4th (6), A-main 16th (10)
  • Date:  March 9, 2025
  • Division:  410 Sprint Cars
  • Location:  Lincoln Speedway, Abbottstown, PA
  • Stats:  30 cars, Heat 3rd (6), A-main 4th (8)

The question now is whether Ross’s success on the early season daytime surfaces will carry over when temperatures warm up and competition switches to nighttime racing surfaces.

Ross believes it will.

“It’s important to have speed on the daytime surfaces. Yes, it is different, but if we can get around in the slick, I’m confident when the tracks have more moisture, we will be just as fast.”, he said.

The Lincoln University, PA native plans to race at several different tracks in the region in 2025 in an effort to continue to learn and improve his program.  He feels his speed at Lincoln Speedway (PA) will translate to other speedways.

“We keep our stuff pretty basic, and I think our baseline is really good right now. As long as we keep our focus I feel like we should be competitive wherever we show up.”, Ross commented.

As Ross stated during the offseason, his approach is to continue to do what his team did in 2024 and build on that.

“We need to continue to qualify well and work hard to stay up front consistently throughout the night and the season.  If we do that, the wins will come.”, Ross said.

“I want to thank our partners who give us what we need to perform.  We’re going to do our part to make the most of those resources and make sure they benefit from our partnership.  I hope everyone goes out and supports our partners anytime they can.”

Starting the Season with Preparation in Mind: Halligan Looking Forward to More Racing in 2025

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Abbottstown, PA – March 13, 2025

by Derick Kriner / Addicted2Dirt PR & Media Mgmt

Image Credit:  Jeremy Zarfos / WRT Speedwerx Photography

As racing starts to kick into full swing in the Central PA region, Jeff Halligan is gearing up for another season of 410 sprint car racing. Early season racing in Pennsylvania comes with many challenges. Weather being the prime reason affecting the ability to race. Being able to spend time on track early in the season is critical to prepare for a long season of racing, as the intensity only ramps up as the season progresses.

Halligan and the 45 team started their race season with two races at the Lincoln Speedway over the past three weeks. Jeff, who primarily now runs at Port Royal, once frequented the ⅜ mile track in Abbottstown in the 358 ranks. “Feels good to get back to Lincoln for a couple races,” stated Halligan. The team does plan to make starts at the track throughout 2025 when the Port Royal schedule doesn’t conflict. So getting to race there allows the team to narrow in on a baseline. “I think we are very close right out of the box early, which is a positive sign.”

The first two races for Jeff brought varying results. The Icebreaker 30 being the stronger of the two. After running in a podium position for the first third of the race and dropping back as far as 8th, Jeff would bring the 45 car across the line in the 6th position. He also picked up a heat win that day, leading every lap of his heat.

Race two, which occurred two weeks later on March 9th, saw some different track conditions and different fortunes for the team. After qualifying for the feature through a 5th place heat finish, the Ephrata native rolled off 15th in the A-Main. By the halfway point, Halligan found himself inside the top 10, but damage sustained shortly after hurt the 45’s chances at advancing. Halligan would manage to finish 14th at the end of the 30-lap feature.

As many teams open up their season and begin to set goals, it seemed appropriate to look inside the mind of the 30-year-old driver to see what his own personal goals are for 2025. “My goal in 2025 is to have the team and myself as prepared as possible for every race.” Jeff went on to mention that “if we do that, the results will take care of themselves.” The team is planning to run the entire Port Royal Speedway schedule throughout 2025.

The past few seasons for Halligan have featured some good runs, and also some not so good runs, which is a part of racing. Being able to eliminate all the factors you can prior to being on track is something that Jeff and team look to do in the 2025 season. “There’s too many to list on things to improve on from last year.” While a set number of wins or top 5’s was not on the list for Halligan, approaching the year with a renewed focus on being prepared will hopefully translate into better results.

Schedule plans for the 45 team feature a trip back to Lincoln Speedway on March 15th and then to Williams Grove on March 16th, pending weather. The team then looks to open up the Port Royal Speedway season the following weekend.

ABOUT  JEFF HALLIGAN

Jeff Halligan is a sprint car racer from Ephrata, PA, who has been behind the wheel for over 25 years. He raced 358 sprint cars with great success from 2014 through the middle of the 2019 season, when he made the move to 410 sprint cars. Tyler Ross Positioned for Breakout 2025 on Heels of Impressive Season

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Lincoln University, PA – February 18, 2025

by Addicted2Dirt PR & Media Mgmt

Image Credit:  Jeremy Zarfos / WRT Speedwerx

Tyler Ross and Ross Racing have spent the offseason making preparations to build on the foundation of an impressive 2024, aiming to position themselves as a consistent contender everywhere they go on the tough Central Pennsylvania 410 sprint car circuit.

With the 2025 racing season just around the corner, we caught up with Tyler to get insight into the team’s progression and a look at their plans for this year.

2025 OUTLOOK

Ross plans to kick off the season at Lincoln Speedway’s annual Icebreaker event.  Preparations are well underway—one car is fully ready, and another is nearly complete. The team plans to focus on time trail shows, competing more at Port Royal Speedway and Williams Grove Speedway than in past seasons.

The team’s 40-50 race schedule will also include visits to BAPS Motor Speedway in PA and Bridgeport Motorsports Park in NJ, along with taking on the High Limit Racing and World of Outlaw series regulars on a few occasions.

HOW IT STARTED

Ross has found success ever since he first put on a helmet in 2002. Advancing from quarter midgets to excelling in sprint car racing, he has amassed 9 wins in the 358 sprint car division, 4 URC feature wins, and 7 victories in 410 sprint car competition.

Ross got his feet wet in 410 sprint car racing in late 2013 and 2014 at the wheel of the Jon Pinter No.92.  He then opted to race a limited schedule of 15-20 races in the family equipment during 2015, 2016, and 2017.  He bounced around in 358/360 rides to fill in other dates on his schedule during those seasons, and he focused entirely on 358/360 racing in 2019.  In 2020, he returned to the family car and again filled out his season with 358/360 rides.

In 2018, Ross was asked to fill the seat of Rick Lefever’s No.75.  While that partnership initially only lasted one season, he returned to that seat for the 2021-2023 seasons and supplemented that by racing his own equipment, mostly as an R&D effort to try new things since the two teams raced the same equipment

Following the 2023 season, Ross and his father made the decision to work on elevating the family program to improve their time trial efforts and to have the resources to race a full season schedule.

HOW IT’S GOING

Going into 2024, the team knew the key to success was better time trial results.  It was an area that had always been a weakness for Ross, so he focused on improving himself in the cockpit.

The powerplant under the hood is another critical component for qualifying.  The team employs Don Ott Racing Engines, and thanks to a key supporter, Rick Ciarrocchi, they have been able to add the depth of resources necessary to support the schedule they want to race.

The team logged 35 races in 2024 and showed their efforts were paying off.  Ross’s time trial results were significantly improved, putting himself on the front row of High Limit Racing and World of Outlaw events.  He picked up 1 win, 9 top-fives, and 19 top-tens.

TEAM INSIGHTS

Looking to 2025, the team is aiming to capitalize on their recent momentum to establish the consistency that will put Ross in a position to add to his win total.

“We’re excited about the upcoming season. Our qualifying effort improved a ton last year; now, our goal is to put complete nights together.  The driver needs to finish the night as strong as it starts”, Ross stated.

“The competition is so close in the 410s.  It doesn’t matter if it’s a PA race, a High Limit race or an Outlaw race.  One tiny mistake will drop you ten spots in a feature.”

“2024 was the first full season for my dad and I together with our equipment.  In the past, we raced maybe 15 times a year, filling in between races in other equipment.  Last year was a lot different, but we learned to work really well together.  We had really good, competitive equipment every night.  I just need to clean up a few mistakes and make sure the car finishes where it should.”

“I’m not one to say I want to win a certain number of races.  My approach is to continue to do what we did in 2024 and just stay up front consistently throughout the night and the season.  If we do that, the wins will come.”

The team’s success has been bolstered by strong partnerships. Key returning partners Bush Auto Group, Fastrak Express Inc, Stateline Truck and Trailer, and Stoltzfus Farm Service/Kubota underscore the support network that keeps Ross Racing competitive and well-equipped.

“I really appreciate the people who have supported our program, and I want to thank them for continuing to provide that support.  We absolutely could not do this without them.”, Ross said.

“As we continue to grow our program, we want to help our partners grow right along with us.  We are always open to adding to our family of partners.”

Preston Lattomus is excited and thankful to have the opportunity to wheel the Capitol Custom Trailers and Coaches No.91 winged sprint car for the 2025 racing season. As a young driver who has already made his share of headlines over the past eleven years, this opportunity marks a significant milestone in Preston’s racing career, setting the stage for an exciting new chapter and further growth.

PROVEN TRACK RECORD

At just 18 years old, Lattomus, from Lewes, Delaware, has already carved out a reputation as a formidable talent behind the wheel. His motorsport journey began with quarter midgets in 2013, where he quickly demonstrated his abilities by securing four USAC National Championships. These early achievements laid a solid foundation for his advancement to micro sprints, where he accumulated multiple victories across Pennsylvania’s competitive tracks.

Despite his young age, Preston’s determination and skill have consistently propelled him forward, earning him a well-deserved place in higher tiers of racing. In 2019 he competed in seven USAC SpeeD2 Pavement Midget Series races and at 12 years old became the youngest driver to win in the series.

In 2023, Lattomus transitioned to the 358 sprint cars, marking another pivotal step in his career trajectory. His adaptation to the 358s was swift and successful, resulting in three significant wins in 2024 at notable tracks such as Williams Grove Speedway, BAPS Motor Speedway, and Lincoln Speedway. These victories not only underscored his ability to compete at higher levels but also highlighted his potential to excel in the 410 sprint car division.

HOW IT STARTED

Although he was the first in his family to strap into a racecar, Lattomus has been around racing his entire life. His father is a lifelong fan of the sport and was a car owner for modified driver Richie Pratt Jr. in the early 2000s.

His father’s connections to people competing in quarter midgets provided the pathway to get Lattomus behind the wheel in that division at the age of six.

ANTICIPATION

Looking ahead to the 2025 season, Lattomus is eager to embrace the challenges of the 410 sprint car division. He is set to embark on an ambitious schedule, participating in 50-60 events with a primary focus on Pennsylvania’s renowned tracks like Williams Grove and Lincoln. Additionally, Lattomus aims to compete in touring series events including the World of Outlaws (WoO) and High Limit series when they are on his home turf. He also left the door open to the possibility of traveling in 2025 to gain additional experience.

Preston’s objectives for his rookie year in the 410s are clear: to gain knowledge, refine his skills, and maintain a competitive edge.

“My goal for next season is to learn as much as possible but also be competitive. By the end of the year I want to be one of the top guys competing for an upfront spot every night.”, Lattomus said.

With seasoned mentors such as Scott McClaren and Kyle Reinhardt providing invaluable guidance, good equipment under him, and robust support from key sponsors Capitol Custom Trailers and Delaware Auto Glass, Lattomus is well-positioned to pursue those goals. It is certain to be a season filled with both challenges and achievements.

GUIDANCE AND MENTORSHIP

Scott McClaren, known for his methodical approach and deep knowledge, has helped the young Delaware pilot fine-tune his strategies both on and off the track. McClaren and Lattomus have excelled in communicating at the racetrack about the track, setup, and strategy.

“Scott is very methodical and knowledgeable about all things racing. Scott tries to leave the driving up to me. He wants me to learn and figure things out my own way, although when needed Scott definitely keeps me on the right path to becoming a better driver.”, Lattomus commented.

Kyle Reinhardt, with his extensive experience behind the wheel and solid resume of accomplishments, has offered precise feedback and insights, enabling Lattomus to accelerate the learning process in a winged sprint car. Their relationship has provided Preston with the confidence to push his boundaries.

“We had a session at BAPS with the 410 and Kyle came to help me with the learning curve, with our few sessions Kyle was able to tell me where to get better every time I came off the track. He is very precise with the feedback he gives and I am looking forward to learning as a driver with Kyle by my side.”, Lattomus shared.
