Feathers Claims Curt Hershey Memorial Victory at Winchester

Winchester, VA – September 10, 2024

It had been three months since Trever Feathers was able to race his super late model on back-to-back nights thanks to the impacts of untimely weather throughout the summer months.

Appalachian Mountain Speedweek in early June was the last time he accomplished the feat.  Over this past weekend, Feathers not only got to race on consecutive nights, but he claimed a win instead of Mother Nature.

SHUT OUT IN PA

Feathers headed north on Friday for the $8,333-to-win Butch Renninger Memorial at Port Royal Speedway in Pennsylvania which had been rescheduled from the previous Saturday due to heavy rains.

In recent years, Feathers had finished second in the event on two occasions and was looking to finally better that and finally break into victory lane at ‘The Speed Palace’ in 2024.

A qualifying lap of 18.282 was good enough to rank Feathers 2nd in group one and give him the pole of his heat race.  He went on to lead every lap of the heat race, winning by 2.087 seconds over Mason Zeigler.

Friday’s feature lineup used a handicapping format for the top two finishers of each heat race.  Despite his qualifying effort and heat race win,  because he had missed the most recent point race at the speedway, Feathers had to line up 7th for the 33-lap main event.

“Our car was really good but during the caution my left rear tire sealed over and I started dropping like a rock.  Before that, I felt like I had a top-five car, maybe a podium if everything went our way.”, Feathers said.  “It got to a point where it made more sense just to drop out rather than waste more fuel and tires.”

BACK-TO-BACK AT HOME

Saturday night Feathers had a much shorter tow to race his Team Zero Race Cars, Fox Racing Shox, Leggett Engine Research, North River Farm, McFarland Custom Painting & Wall Coverings, George’s Used Cars, Martin’s Pumping, Feathers & Son’s Roofing, Coffelt Graphics, Shane McDowell Racing No.27 in front of his hometown crowd at Winchester Speedway in Virginia.

Feathers came out strong, posting the quickest lap in his group.  He backed it up by leading every lap and winning his heat race by a 4.429-second margin.

The Winchester, VA native, who owns track championships and numerous victories at his hometown track went on to dominate the 40-lap A-main.  From his starting spot on the outside of the front row, he led every lap and crossed the finish line over 8.5 seconds ahead of the runner-up.

When we won here in this car in August I thought we were just ok and I was in a good position to make the most of it.  We made some changes since last time and the car was really, really good tonight.  Much better than last time.”, Feathers commented.

“The car was fun to drive tonight.  I drove the last lap as hard as I did the first lap.  It’s been a while since I had a car that good.”

The victory was Feathers’ second in a super late model this season and third overall including his limited late model win earlier this year at Hagerstown Speedway.  He has finished in the top five of more than half of the features he has competed in this year.

UP NEXT

Feathers hasn’t nailed down his schedule for the next few weeks yet.  He does plan to compete in the Hills Memorial at Potomac Speedway on September 28th.

Stay tuned to Trever Feathers Racing’s social media outlets to be the first to know when schedule decisions are made!

Pair of Wins Highlight August for Lane Snook

Mifflintown, PA – September 9, 2024

by Derick Kriner / Addicted2Dirt PR & Media Mgmt

Photo Credit:  Tim Basehore / WRT Speedwerx

As the last month of summer break appeared on the calendar, Lane Snook and team had a busy month ahead of them. After the last few months of impressive runs and finishes, and August featuring some big shows, anticipation was high for the young 16-year-old driver.

The month started off with an appearance at the Path Valley Speedway on August 10th. The fifth starting spot would be where the 23 car would roll off from. A few missteps landed the Mifflintown racer back in the 9th position, partway through the feature. However, the high side of the speedway was inviting to Snook, and he took to it, passing back the positions lost, and then some. Lane was able to stand on the podium box, scoring a 3rd place finish.

A week later at the BAPS Motor Speedway, the top step on the podium would be his. A strong heat set the young racer up for a front-row starting spot. Around the halfway mark of the feature, “we were able to pass for the lead” and win a second Limited Late Model event of the season.

Big money was on the line the following Friday, as the rained-out Zimmerman Tribute race was run alongside the Lucas Oil Late Model program, at Port Royal Speedway. A promising start to the night with a strong 2nd place effort in their qualifying group, put them on the pole of a heat race. Bad luck befell the 23 team, as they had “a left rear blow off the bead racing for second.” Luckily, the good time in qualifying allowed them to start on the pole of the B-Main, and Lane was able to win that event. Passing was at a premium in feature, as Snook advanced a few spots, going from 21st-18th.

Switching gears back to short tracks, the now 2-time winner, would break through once more and pick up his third feature win of the season at the Path Valley Speedway. Lane was able to grab the lead, almost right away, and “drove off to the win.” Snook stated that “the confidence is pretty high, especially on the short tracks.” Evidence being that all three of his triumphs this season have come on smaller tracks. Lane also stated there has been “less pressure” when talking about getting more wins, after scoring his first a few months prior.

To round out the month, another small track was on the card, as the team went to Clinton County. The handicap style invert to the feature lineup, put Lane starting 7th. At the end of the feature, another podium finish was added to the resume of the 2nd-year Limited driver, scoring a 3rd place result.

Rain pushed what would have been the final event on the team’s August schedule to a later date, as the Renninger Memorial got moved to a part of Monday’s Labor Day Classic at Port Royal.

As the season starts to wind down, the team and Lane now stand at three wins. “I just wanted to win at least 1 race this year.” While most wins and podium finishes have happened at smaller tracks, “we are finding more speed on the big tracks” said Snook. This is an area the young racer looks to improve upon in the remainder of the season.

The month of September features a few races for the Mifflintown-based team. BAPS is up next for the team on September 14th. The rest of the month is still up in the air, but the team does plan to race a few more times before the month is out. The hope is for August’s momentum to carry into a few strong closing months of the season.

Keen Overcoming Issues, Incidents and Learning Curve in Rookie 410 Sprint Season

Port Royal, PA – September 6, 2024

by Addicted2Dirt PR & Media Mgmt

Photo Credit:  Jeremy Zarfos / WRT Speedwerx

It’s been a tough summer for 410 sprint car rookie Kyle Keen.

His season started reasonably well for a rookie on the tough Central PA circuit.  He qualified for 11 of his first 15 events and had an average finishing position of 18th.  It wasn’t about the finishing position, it was about finishing.  Making as many laps as possible each night to give himself the best chance to learn and improve.  He was accomplishing that goal.

As summer got into full gear, there seemed to be one challenge after another.  Between part failures, the learning curve, and incidents it seemed never-ending.

Keen went into 410 sprint car racing knowing it wouldn’t be easy though, so he just kept grinding it out.

QUICK RESULTS

DATE:  September 2, 2024

  • Event:  Labor Day Classic
  • Division:  410 Sprint Cars
  • Location:  Port Royal Speedway, ort Royal, PA
  • Stats:  40 cars, Group 1 Qualifying 3rd, Heat 2nd (4), A-main 20th (9)

OFF TRACK

PA Speedweek brought on the first hurdle of the summer for Keen when he encountered an engine part failure at Hagerstown Speedway in Maryland.  It was his third Speedweek race attempt and third DNQ (did not qualify) but against the stout fields that series draws, there was certainly no reason to stress over the results.

The engine issue sidelined the Fine Line Auto Body, Hess Bid / Hess Auctioneers, Keen Parts / CorvetteParts.net, Shetron Trailers, Heishman Racing Fuels, DL Lehman Construction, Fuel Ox No.17k for four weeks.  Keen returned to Williams Grove Speedway on August 2nd, shook off the rust, and logged a 16th-place finish.  It seemed all was normal again.

That feeling was replaced with frustration over the following two weeks.  Keen raced four times, making only one feature and damaging two cars.

After showing good speed early in the evening in his first-ever venture to the track, Keen got caught up in an incident that started a few rows in front of him in the A-main at Lincoln Speedway on August 17th, then suffered a steering part issue one week later on August 23rd at Williams Grove Speedway in the B-main.

Each week he bounced back after long hours in the shop preparing to get back to the track.  The labor and expense are difficult enough to overcome but the mental toughness required to soldier on through trials like these is even harder for a driver, even if sometimes the circumstances are not your fault.

Confidence wanes.  Self-doubt creeps in.

Overcoming that can often be more difficult than figuring out the right setup for the race car.  They say a confident driver is worth two-tenths of a second, so when the going gets tough, all focus turns to getting back to basics.  The goal becomes to simply put together a full night, make the show, and get back to the shop with everything in one piece.

BACK ON TRACK

With racing action on August 30th and 31st washed out by rain, Keen shifted his attention to his first-ever Labor Day Classic at Port Royal Speedway.  The event provides a unique challenge to drivers and teams on the tricky daytime surface.

Keen got his afternoon off on the right foot by spinning off the 3rd quickest lap in his group to earn the 2nd starting spot in his heat race.

The Carlisle, PA native kept the momentum going, challenging for the lead on the opening lap of the heat race.  Chase Dietz fended off the surge by Keen, who settled into 2nd.  He went on to maintain full control of the runner-up spot to the finish.

Keen found himself with a top-ten starting spot for the 73rd Annual Labor Day Classic, something that quickly reinstated at least some of his confidence behind the wheel.

The only thing that didn’t go right for Keen on Monday afternoon was his setup choices for the feature.  The daylight surface was a new challenge and they guessed wrong, causing the No.17k to fall back in the running order.

Mired in 20th with less than ten laps remaining and nothing to gain from continuing, Keen retired from the event.

“We had the boat anchor out.”, Keen said with a good-natured grin.  “We missed the setup for the feature but it’s all good, it’s part of us learning to figure out what we need to be more hooked up with a full fuel load.”

“I’m proud of our team! We’ve been getting closer and closer this season.  And we haven’t quit despite some really tough challenges.  I’m really proud of how well we have been qualifying the last few races, which is a super important part of being successful in these things.”

Keen has the right attitude and work ethic to weather what his rookie season throws at him.  There are still a few races left and he intends to finish 2024 strong.

Newlin Getting 410 Program Sorted Out, Wins Labor Day Warrior Award

Port Royal, PA – September 5, 2024

by Addicted2Dirt PR & Media Mgmt

Starting a 410 sprint car program is not an easy task for anyone but it is an especially challenging effort for a family team stretching every dollar to make it happen.

After numerous highly successful years in the 305 sprint car ranks followed by quick success in the 358 division as well in his family-owned No.11z, Zach Newlin dabbled in the 410 ranks at the wheel of equipment other than his own for a couple years.  While there were some highlights in those limited outings, those rides didn’t seem to be the right fit.

In 2023 Newlin and his family decided to resurrect the family-owned team and take it to the 410 sprint car level.

QUICK RESULTS

DATE:  September 2, 2024

  • Class:  410 Sprint Cars
  • Location:  Port Royal Speedway, Port Royal, PA
  • Stats: 40 cars, Group Qualifying 6th, Heat 6th (8), B-main 9th (10)

PERSISTENCE

Newlin’s 2024 debut was delayed until June.  He came into it knowing he was down on horsepower compared to most of his competition but he needed to hit the track to start working out the bugs and building a notebook.  It takes time to build a 410 sprint car program and you can’t do it in the shop.

His first five outings of this season were a struggle.  The team battled a mystery power issue that would creep up mid-race.  The frustration reached unwanted levels.

Doubts briefly crept into Newlin’s mind.  Did he belong here?  Was it worth it?

The short answer to both:  yes.

Newlin and team kept digging and finally got to the bottom of the issue.  When Port Royal Speedway’s Labor Day Classic hit the clay on Monday afternoon, he timed 6th quick in his group, right in the thick of the regulars.

An 8th place finish in his heat race on the tough daytime surface put Newlin in the B-main where he raced to a 9th place finish from the 10th starting spot in his Ron’s RV Sales, Butler Hill Maple Farm, Tuscarora Roofing Co., Dillman Hauling,  Wintergreen Window Cleaning, Christine Booher, Safety-Kleen, Strange Oval, Walker Performance Filtration, Newlin Bar Service, The Podium Awards, Nesbit Innovations, Deimler Chiropractic and Your Dry Basement No.11z

Statistically it wasn’t a day to write home about but for this small team it was a hurdle cleared.  Now the process of tuning their car’s handling can finally begin in earnest.

To help broaden the smiles in the team’s pit after the race, Newlin was selected as the winner of the J&S Classics Warrior Award.  The prize, awarded to the driver who finishes in the position of the pill that is drawn, is presented courtesy of Sandy Kline.

While all of this has been playing out over the past couple months, Newlin has had a bigger engine being rebuilt as time and funds allowed.  That powerplant is nearly ready, so that award money will come in very handy to help keep this team progressing toward being a weekly competitor.

“I can’t thank Sandy (Kline) enough for putting up this award money and for everything she does for the sport.  All of us in the pit area appreciate her.”, Newlin said.

“I want to thank my mom, my dad, and my entire family for everything they do to help this team exist.  We knew this wouldn’t be easy.  We’re going to keep working hard to build a competitive 410 team.”

“We wouldn’t be able to do this without the support of our partners.  I want to say thanks to them all and I hope everyone will go out and support those folks who support us.”

UP NEXT

Tentatively, the next race for Newlin in the 11z is September 21st at BAPS Motor Speedway.  Other options are under consideration.  Stay tuned to Zach Newlin Racing on Facebook and Twitter for schedule updates!

Newlin has three 358 sprint car races remaining in the Mansberger Motorsports No.21m, all of which are at Williams Grove Speedway on September 13th, 20th and 21st.

Trever Feathers Heating Up: Potomac Podium Is Fourth Top Five in Last Five Races

Mechanicsville, MD – September 4, 2024

by Addicted2Dirt PR & Media Mgmt

Photo Credit: Kevin Freer / WRT Speedwerx

With his original plans to travel to Port Royal Speedway on Saturday night to race the Butch Renninger Memorial washed out by rain, Trever Feathers went to his backup plan to get some laps under his belt over the weekend.

QUICK RESULTS

DATE:  August 17, 2024

  • Event:  Huey Wilcoxen Memorial
  • Class:  Super Late Model
  • Location:  Potomac Speedway, Mechanicsville, MD
  • Stats:  16 cars, Qualifying 5th, Heat 3rd (3rd), A-main 3rd (5th)

A LITTLE EXTRA

Feathers kicked off the Sunday night show with the 5th fastest qualifying lap overall in his red Team Zero Race Cars, Fox Racing Shox, Leggett Engine Research, North River Farm, McFarland Custom Painting & Wall Coverings, George’s Used Cars, Martin’s Pumping, Feathers & Son’s Roofing, Coffelt Graphics, Shane McDowell Racing No.27.

The Winchester, VA super late model veteran made some adjustments before his heat race and went on to claim a 3rd place finish in that race.  Feathers noted the car was better but not yet where it needed to be.

Feathers started 5th in the 30-lap Huey Wilcoxen Memorial main event.  Through the first nine laps, he rode in that position before taking advantage of a restart to blast into the 3rd spot.

Over the remaining nineteen laps Feathers chased leader Trevor Collins and 2nd place Dale Hollidge, pulling within striking distance more than once.  He wasn’t able to advance and settled for the 3rd place finish.

“We were there but we just weren’t quite fast enough to contend.  That’s been the story of our year.  When you run as many top-fives as we have we should have more wins than we do, but we just haven’t had that little extra to get us there.”, Feathers commented.

Feathers has accumulated eleven top-five finishes in twenty-one races but has only reached victory lane once.

“I got to them a couple times but my car wasn’t stable enough to make a move.  It’s our first time here (Potomac) with the 27 car.”, Feathers continued.  “We tried some things for qualifying but had to go back to what we knew worked.  We have always brought our other car so our notes are from those nights and this car just doesn’t adjust quite the same as the other one.”

UP NEXT

Feathers will return to Port Royal Speedway for the final time in 2024 to compete in the rescheduled Butch Renninger Memorial on Friday, September 6th.  The winner will earn a top prize of $7,333 plus lap money.

Saturday night Feathers will compete in the Curt Hershey Memorial at his Virginia hometown track, Winchester Speedway.

Kyle Reinhardt Reels Off Third Straight Top Ten

Abbottstown, PA – September 3, 2024

by Addicted2Dirt PR & Media Mgmt

Photo Credit:  Jeremy Zarfos /WRT Speedwerx Photography

What was supposed to be a three-race holiday weekend in Central PA for Kyle Reinhardt, quickly turned into a single event on Sunday night thanks to Mother Nature’s unwelcome visit to the region on a traditionally big Labor Day weekend of racing.

Reinhardt made the most of the night, snagging his third consecutive top-ten finish.

The Neptune City, NJ native is building momentum at an opportune time as several big events sit on the horizon.

QUICK RESULTS

DATE:  September 1, 2024

  • Event:  Labor Day Duels / Kevin Gobrecht Memorial
  • Division:  410 Sprint Cars
  • Location:  Lincoln Speedway, Abbottstown, PA
  • Stats:  31 cars, Qualifying 8th, Heat 2nd (2), A-main 6th (8)

KEEP IT ROLLIN'

Reinhardt was the 21st car to hit the track for qualifying Sunday evening in the 31-car field.  A late slot is often difficult for teams to overcome as track conditions decline, but the Capitol Custom Coaches & Trailers, Coors Banquet Beer, E-Z-GO Golf Cars, Henry’s Wrecker Service No.91 was up to the task, registering the 8th quickest lap overall.

From his front-row starting spot in heat race number two,  Reinhardt challenged polesitter Troy Wagaman Jr. at the drop of the green.  He followed in the runner-up spot, working to chase down the leader, but ultimately settled for the 2nd place finish.

Reinhardt started outside the 4th row in the 40-lap A-main but couldn’t find a rhythm during the opening laps and slipped back to the 10th position.

As the race neared the halfway mark, Reinhardt gained momentum and started to move forward, taking over the 8th position on lap twenty-two.  Ten laps later he took possession of 6th and held a firm grasp on it to the checkers to collect his third consecutive top-ten finish.

“I’m very happy with our speed right now.  Timing good the last few weeks and competing for top-fives is a great jump from where we were the last few months.”, Reinhardt commented.  “We are looking to keep carrying the momentum through the rest of the season.”

UP NEXT

The three-night, High Limit Racing Sanctioned Tuscarora 50 event is next up for Reinhardt.  He and his team will sign in at Port Royal Speedway on September 5th, 6th, and 7th for the 57th annual edition of the lucrative race.

On both Thursday and Friday, the 410 sprint cars will race for $10,000 and Saturday’s finale will pay $57,000 to the victor.

SEASON STATS

30 races, 0 wins, 3 top 5’s, 11 top 10’s, 18 top 15’s, 21 top 20’s

Ashley Cappetta Embarks on a New Journey, Balancing Racing and Auctioneering Aspirations

Abbottstown, PA – August 29, 2024

by Emily Winslow / Addicted2Dirt PR & Media Mgmt

Photo Credit:  Jeremy Zarfos / WRT Speedwerx

Ashley Cappetta is starting a new chapter this fall, balancing her passion for racing with an exciting new endeavor—becoming a licensed auctioneer. Cappetta, who has been involved in the auction business since she was 16, is enrolled in classes to earn her auctioneer’s license in a single semester.

“I’m excited to start this journey,” Cappetta shared. “I’ve had a passion for the auction business since I was 16 years old, when I truly started going to auctions—buying and reselling items at flea markets to fund my race team. I eventually ended up working for an auction house, doing everything except auctioneering—photos, listings, advertisements.”

Cappetta’s ultimate goal is to run her own auction house, but for now, she’s focused on getting licensed and gaining hands-on experience. “Once I’m licensed, I’ll have the opportunity to work with an established auctioneer, and that’s where I’ll start,” she said. “I prefer live auctions over online ones, so my focus will be on in-house auctions.”

While Cappetta looks forward to this new venture, she faced another weekend at the track filled with challenges. “Frustrated doesn’t even begin to cover it—I feel bad for my race team,” she admitted. “It’s not from a lack of effort. The team has been working hard, both at the shop and on the track, but it feels like we’re beating our heads against the wall.”

Reflecting on Saturday’s struggles, Cappetta noted, “This week, I can’t say I could have done anything better. The car got loose in the heat race after a good start, and I feel like I’m chasing the car in the corners. We fixed the wheel spin, but it’s been one thing after another.”

Despite her frustrations, Cappetta is committed to finding a solution. “Talking out of emotion does nothing, so I use the time at the car wash to unwind and analyze the night,” she explained. “I decided it was time to make a change and pull out a new frame—the only thing we haven’t tried.”

Determined to get back on track, Cappetta and her crew have been working tirelessly. “I worked from 1:30 a.m. to 5:30 a.m. in the shop to get the new frame and car ready—new fuel cell, shocks, fiberglass, nose wing, wheels, fuel lines, seat insert—we have to try something else,” she said. “It’s confusing because the car felt good at BAPS, but we’re running out of options.”

Cappetta remains hopeful that the new frame and rebuilt engine will bring the turnaround she and her team need. “It’s so defeating to see the crew down. I just want to get comfortable on the track again. It’s my dream to win an important race, and I want to get things figured out before the Weldon Sterner Memorial, to put myself in a good spot. My sponsors and crew deserve it.”

Reinhardt Caps Good Weekend With Top Five at Kramer Klash

Abbottstown, PA – August 27, 2024

by Addicted2Dirt PR & Media Mgmt

Photo Credit:  Jeremy Zarfos /WRT Speedwerx Photography

On the heels of a tough trip to Knoxville Raceway in early August that did not live up to what he expected of himself and his team, Kyle Reinhardt and his team took a weekend off to regroup.

They returned to action over the weekend and showed they are ready to put the Midwest venture behind them and perform like they have shown they can.

QUICK RESULTS

DATE:  August 23, 2024

  • Event:  Jack Gunn Memorial
  • Division:  410 Sprint Cars
  • Location:  Williams Grove Speedway, Mechanicsburg, PA
  • Stats:  28 cars, Qualifying 10th, Heat 3rd (3), A-main 9th (10)

DATE:  August 24, 2024

  • Event:  Kramer Klash
  • Division:  410 Sprint Cars
  • Location:  Lincoln Speedway, Abbottstown, PA
  • Stats:  35 cars, Group B Qualifying 4th, Heat 1st (1), A-main 4th (3)

NICE RECOVERY

Reinhardt kicked off his weekend at the $8,000-to-win Jack Gunn Memorial race at Williams Grove Speedway where he clocked in 10th quickest in the 28-car field.

He proceeded to log a 3rd place finish in his heat race to earn the 10th starting spot in the 30-lap main event.

Early in the finale, Reinhardt slipped outside of the top ten, running 13th as the race neared its midpoint.  A second-half push put him back into the top ten on lap twenty and a last-lap pass put him 9th in the final rundown.

RETURN TO FORM

Saturday night Reinhardt made the short tow from his race shop to the nearby Lincoln Speedway for the Kramer Klash, which offered up $7,300 to the winner in honor of the late Kramer Williamson and his famed No.73 Pink Panther race car.

Reinhardt posted the 4th fastest lap in Group B qualifying for the split 35-car field.  The lap earned him the pole in his heat race, which he took full advantage of.  The Neptune City, NJ native led all ten laps, besting Ryan Smith by 3.184 seconds.

The heat race win earned Reinhardt the 3rd starting spot for the 35-lap A-main.  After running 4th over the first nine laps, he dropped to 5th.  He held a firm grip on that spot through lap thirty when he made a final push forward, taking back 4th with five laps remaining and holding on to the checkers.

“I’m very happy with the speed we found.  We made a lot of changes to our car and are feeling comfortable with the direction we are heading.”, Reinhardt commented.

UP NEXT

A three-race weekend lies ahead for Reinhardt.  The Capitol Custom Coaches & Trailers, Coors Banquet Beer, E-Z-GO Golf Cars, Henry’s Wrecker Service No.91 team will have the opportunity to keep the momentum going with a return to Williams Grove Speedway this Friday for the $8,000-to-win Eash Brothers Tribute, followed by the Labor Day Duel on Saturday and Sunday night at Lincoln Speedway.

Challenging Night for Ashley Cappetta: Tough Breaks and Setbacks on the Track

Abbottstown, PA – August 23, 2024

by Emily Winslow / Addicted2Dirt PR & Media Mgmt

Photo Credit:  Jeremy Zarfos / WRT Speedwerx

After a strong start to the season, Ashley Cappetta faced a rough night at the track this past weekend. Despite her early momentum, the challenges of the night proved formidable, testing her resilience and determination, “Unfortunately with the way the track was with all of the rain it received it was tough to pass.” The night started with a high pill draw lining Ashley up seventh for her heat race, “Had to make something happen on the start and I just couldn’t get anything to work. The car felt good but I didn’t want to put myself and any of my competitors in a bad spot.” Cappetta finished her heat race where she started, seventh, which had her lined up sixth for the B-main.

“In the B-main it was tough to get going but after the caution, we were better.” Ashley was up to fourth and was going for fourth when she misjudged the guardrail and ended up on her side, “I’m shocked it happened, I lacked judgment and after I hit the guardrail I gathered it back up and then spun and the car stood up and tumbled over.” Cappetta was able to restart as it did not appear that the car suffered much damage, but Ashley said the car did not feel right for the rest of the race. Cappetta would finish the night with a sixth place finish in the B-main, “All in all it was a frustrating night, especially after testing on Wednesday went well.” After a tough night Cappetta and the team are looking forward to their next race, “One positive is that we have the speed we were looking for, it just wasn’t our night. It was the first feature we haven’t qualified for this year which is still ahead of where we were compared to last season.” Another positive from the night, “In 12 years of racing I haven’t made too many mistakes and it makes you feel good knowing nights like this don’t happen often.”

Ashley and the Cappetta Racing Team will be back in action Saturday at Lincoln Speedway for the Kramer Klash.
