Henderson and Sandvig Lead First Laps of the Season During First Two Race Weekend of 2022

Justin Henderson and Mike Sandvig Motorsports took part in two events last weekend with a trip to Knoxville Raceway on Saturday and Huset’s Speedway on Sunday.

The two-race weekend netted the duo a season-best third-place finish at Knoxville on Saturday and a seventh-place finish at Huset’s on Sunday.

“For the first weekend with two races, it was not a bad weekend at all,” said Henderson. “We’ve got a lot of racing ahead of us this season and weekends like this will go a long way in preparing us for a busy race season.”

As result of multiple rainouts across the country, a whopping 43 drivers made the trek to Knoxville on Saturday. Undeterred by the added competition, Henderson began the evening by timing in second quickest in a qualifying flight with a fastest lap of 15.915 seconds. This marked the third consecutive week that Henderson has been among the top two fastest qualifiers to start the night at the Sprint Car Capital of the World.

“When you can qualify well, it makes the night a lot easier” he said. “It might as well have been an Outlaw show with all the drivers there, but I say bring them all as that’s really the only way you’ll ever know how you stack up truly.”

He backed up the impressive qualifying performance by advancing three positions in a heat race to finish third and lock himself into the A-main.

“We got a good start on the heat race and the starts are so important at Knoxville with their format,” said Henderson. “We got by a car early and that means so much as you don’t want to get stretched out early or you’ll ruin your night just like that.”

Lining up from the inside-second row for the feature, Henderson quickly moved into the runner-up position by the completion of lap three. Staying glued to the bottom of the Speedway, he took over the top spot on lap six and led the next ten laps of the event maneuvering in and out of lapped traffic with ease. With five laps remaining, he had to break his momentum to avoid making contact with a fast closing Carson Macedo and as a result he fell to second. He settled into the runner-up spot over the next four laps before falling to third on the final circuit.

“I honestly didn’t even know Carson was there as we had been going so well in traffic, but it definitely made me checkup and I broke my momentum,” he said. “It wasn’t a dirty move or anything like that and he did what he was supposed to do. I thought I might be able to get back to him, but I didn’t make a great decision on getting past a few lapped cars and it cost me a shot at the win and ultimately second.”

They next headed to Huset’s Speedway on Sunday, where Henderson entered the night as the defending track champion in the 410 Sprint Car division. He kicked of their 2022 Opening Day program by qualifying fourth quickest out of 27 cars in attendance with a fastest lap of 10.784 seconds before finishing where he started – third – in a heat race,

He lined up fifth for the 25-lap feature event but struggled to make gains during the A-main and took the checkered flag in the seventh position. The top ten was Henderson’s third in four starts to begin the 2022 racing season.

“The car was good, but it was just a bunch of misfortunate events all night,” he said. “We made some bad moves on the track that kind of kept us scrambling, but I think the car was pretty good.”

Next up for Henderson and Sandvig will be another weekend doubleheader at Knoxville Raceway on Saturday and Huset’s Speedway on Sunday. While Henderson currently sits on top of the 410 Sprint Car point standings at Knoxville and the team has been consistent with speed to kick off 2022, he’s not focused on the point lead and instead looking to find victory lane.

“To be leading the points now says we are good and have speed, but right now we are focused on finding victory lane and I think we’re really already looking towards the Knoxville Nationals,” said Henderson. “I think every time you pull into Knoxville you need to be working on your program for that weekend and to this point, we’re making gains and building towards that. We’ve got early speed and we’ve got a good car, which will be huge come Nationals weekend. Now we just need to find ourselves a win to back it up.”

Kyle Keen Motorsports Partners with Addicted2Dirt PR

Story Behind 358 Sprint Car Rookie’s Late Start Is an Interesting One

Carlisle, PA – May 11, 2022

by Addicted2Dirt PR & Media Management

Feature Photo Credit:  Jeremy Zarfos Photography

Addicted2Dirt PR and Media Management (A2D PR) is happy to announce we have formed a new partnership with Kyle Keen Motorsports.

A2D PR will handle promotion of the race team and their marketing partners via press releases and social media, in addition to events, videos and other creative outlets.  Race fans will consistently receive the latest information, including the team’s plans, inside stories, news and results.

I’m excited to get started working with A2D.  I always have a lot of ideas to help us grow our team and take care of our partners, but it can be difficult to find the time to do it properly.  This new relationship will help us a ton with that.“, Kyle Keen commented.

About Kyle

Kyle Keen has been around racing his entire life, but the story of how he finally ended up behind the wheel himself is not what you would expect.

His father, Shawn Keen, raced Super Sportsmen in the mid-90’s, then 410 sprint cars from ’97 to ’03.  After giving up the wheel, he owned cars for other notable wheelmen like Mark Smith and Skip Jackson.

His grandfather, the late Jesse Keen, was a staple in Central Pennsylvania sprint car racing.  His untimely passing 10 years ago this month left a void in the racing community that simply cannot be filled.  He was a highly respected man who got into racing by owning sprint cars, like the famous 5w that was driven by Randy Wolfe, and later backed Randy’s son Lucas when he took on the Outlaw tour.  He went on to own highly successful cars that were piloted by some of the sports’ best, such as Tyler Walker and Daryn Pittman, along with many others.

Despite his family’s involvement in racing, Kyle was too busy as a two-sport athlete growing up; football and basketball.  Racing just wasn’t on his radar at the time.

Fast forward to 2018 and along came iRacing, the cutting edge online racing simulator.  Then 23 years old, Keen jumped in.  And he was very good at it.

I did really well on iRacing that year and I thought to myself, ‘I think I could drive a real race car’.“, Keen shared with a chuckle.  “So, I talked to my dad, and we ended up buying a 305 sprint car and the things I needed to get started.  The first year (2019) was ok, but the next year we really got going pretty good.  We were always competitive, and we scored a bunch of top-1o’s.”

After racing in the highly competitive 305 sprint car division in 2019 and 2020, Kyle stepped out of the seat in 2021.  He and his wife were working on buying a house and racing didn’t fit in the budget at the time.  Instead, he sold his equipment and spent the race season serving as crew chief on friend Kenny Heffner’s 305 sprint car.

I missed being behind the wheel last year, but I learned a lot about setting up these cars by working for Kenny.“, Keen said.

He couldn’t stay away for long.  During the offseason, Keen bought some equipment and made the move up to the 358 sprint cars for the 2022 season.

We’ve only run five races in the 358, but we’ve made all five features and we have one top-10.  I’m racing against a bunch of guys who have a lot more laps than me, so I’ll take those results.  I’m still learning obviously.  We’ll keep getting better as the season goes.  I believe we can be a regular top-10 team by the time the season wraps up.“, Keen commented.

I want to thank my dad for everything he does, and I want to thank all my partners.  I appreciate everything they do for me.  I got a late start on this racing thing but with their help, I’m getting to do something I love.  We’re going to do everything we can to give back to them and get them up front this year.“, Keen concluded.

Feathers Leads Most Laps, Takes 2nd at Bedford

Bedford, PA – May 6, 2022

by Kyle McFadden, Addicted2Dirt PR & Media Management

Feature Photo Credit:  Jason Walls / WRT SpeedWerx

For the second week in a row, Trever Feathers went head-to-head with one of the hottest Dirt Late Model drivers in the country, Gregg Satterlee, on Friday at Bedford Fairgrounds Speedway.

On April 23, the 29-year-old outdueled the recent Lucas Oil Series winner for a $3,500 win at hometown track Winchester (Va.) Speedway.

At the big half-mile clay oval last Friday, Feathers led a race-high 25 laps from the outside pole of the 86th annual Billy Winn Classic but couldn’t muster the late-race strength to counteract Satterlee’s $12,086 romp.

While Satterlee led the final 12 laps, Feathers finished four seconds behind and content in the runner-up position aboard the No. 20 Larry Royston’s Septic Services / Martins Pumping Service / Feathers & Sons Roofing / Fastenal of Winchester, VA / McFarland Custom Painting & Wall Coverings / Hoosier Tire Mid-Atlantic / MB Sports Collectibles / Leggett Engine Research / Coffelt Graphics / Larry Royston Properties / Larry Royston Equipment / Bilstein Shocks / Longhorn Chassis.

April 29: Billy Winn Classic / Bedford Speedway / Bedford, PA

     (31 cars, Qualifying 2nd in group/3rd overall, Heat 2nd, A-main 2nd)

We were one adjustment away from starting outside the pole and leading the whole thing. It is what it is,” Feathers said. “(Bedford) is difficult. Satterlee has been rolling the past four or five years here; I think he’s won just about every big race you can (at Bedford). It is what it is, tonight was a good night all the way around.”

That’s about the best we’ve been here,” Feathers added. “We generally suck at this place. This is my worst racetrack we go to. It’s somewhat of a win tonight even though we ran second.

Satterlee, the 17th-ranked driver in DirtonDirt.com’s weekly poll, was the only driver that stood in the way of Feathers last Friday — qualifying quick time while Feathers time-trialed second of 31 cars and winning heat two with Feathers in tow.

Much like his Winchester sweep on April 23, Feathers needed little time to get going. By lap five, Feathers built a 1.5-second advantage ahead of polesitter Ross Robinson, where the Winchester, Va., native paced the opening 16 laps. On lap 17, reigning Bedford track champion Jeff Rine caught Feathers backpedaling off turn four to complete the race’s first of three lead changes.

photo credit: Travis Trussell / WRT SpeedWerx

Feathers regathered himself on lap 18, racing by Rine to lead through lap 26.

I don’t want to say I was screwing around, but I was trying to find the line the car needed to be able to get back away from Rine,” Feathers said. “I was watching (my father Bo Feathers providing signals) and when I ran my normal line, I was pulling away a bit. When I started to get in traffic, I was trying to find a line that would suit the car a little bit better, because I knew I was killing my tires.”

We had a good car to start; a good car until halfway. Then I started to get tight; it was getting tight and then I was burning the rear tires up trying to free the car. It just wasn’t our night.

Friday marked Feathers’ fifth top-five finish in six races this season.

Feathers logged his seventh race of 2022 on Saturday at Port Royal, which did not go according to plan. The 2021 Opening Day winner at The Speed Palace got caught up in a mid-race incident that knocked him out of the 25-lap feature.

Additionally, the incident issued frame damage to Feathers’ primary race car that will sideline him and Larry Royston Racing for at least this weekend.

Hartlaub Leads Lincoln 358 Sprint Championship Points

Steady Performances and Resilience Propel Team to the Top

Abbottstown, PA – May 5, 2022

by Addicted2Dirt PR & Media Management

Feature Photo Credit:  Jeremy Zarfos Photography

 )

Kody Hartlaub has had a solid start to his 358 sprint car season, but it certainly hasn’t been dull or easy.

After five races at Lincoln Speedway, in only his second full season, Hartlaub finds himself atop the season point standings in a highly competitive division, but he and his team have had to overcome challenges to get to where they are.

April 9th:  Lincoln Speedway / Abbottstown, PA

      (28 cars, Heat 3rd, A-main 9th)

Beginning with the April 9th show, with two prior events in the books, Lincoln Speedway moved into their handicapping format for the 358 sprint cars.  In this format, heat races are lined up by random draw.  The top two finishers from each heat race become part of the handicapped group.  Members of that group are lined up in the front rows of the feature based on their season points average, with the lowest average starting on the pole.

Four 10-lap heats were set for the 28 teams on hand.  Hartlaub rolled off 7th in the final heat race but surged into 4th by the end of the first circuit.  He methodically worked his way into 3rd on lap seven and then set his sights on reaching the valuable runner up spot.  Although he was pressuring 2nd place Nash Ely, Hartlaub ran out of time.

Hartlaub started mid-pack (12th) in the 20-lap A-main.  While he was able to move into 11th early in the race, the car just didn’t have much more in it on this night.  Thanks to a little attrition, Hartlaub gained a couple more spots and came home 9th in the Brewer Home Improvements / Moose Blocks / Smith Titanium / SRR Engines / Siegel Racing / T&N Solutions / Jason Emlet Iron Valley Real Estate / Bingham Appraisals / Pretzel Boy / HAAS Shocks / C.H. Folk & Son Feeds / Chop Designs / Herr Electric, Hartlaub Racing No.2.

April 16th:  Lincoln Speedway / Abbottstown, PA

      (31 cars, Heat 4th, A-main 4th)

Mid-April brought 31 cars to Lincoln Speedway.  Once again four 10-lap heats were lined up by the pill draw and once again Kody Hartlaub found himself in the final heat race of the day.  He lined up 5th and quickly made a move into 3rd when the race went green.

As Hartlaub worked to find his way into a coveted top-2 handicap spot prior to the race’s midpoint, he ripped a tear-off from his helmet.  Unfortunately the right mounting post was loose and all the tear-offs released in a single pull, leaving him with no way to get clear visibility.  Instead of moving forward, Hartlaub found himself slipping backwards.  He hung on to finish 4th.

Wiping the visor with my gloves only made visibility worse.  I could see well enough to survive and not endanger myself or anyone else, but I couldn’t run hard and be aggressive.“, Hartlaub explained.

The snafu during qualifying put Hartlaub deep in the field for the 20-lap A-main.  These kinds of nights usually go one of two ways.  In some cases, a driver will finish poorly and write the night off to tough luck.  In other cases, a driver uses the opportunity to show his team and the fans they should never count him out.  The latter seems to fit Hartlaub.

Starting 16th, he was on a mission from the drop of the green.  The East Berlin, PA resident charged through the field, reaching the top-10 by lap 5 and the top-5 by lap 13.  By the time the checkers waived, Hartlaub had reached 4th.

There were plenty of smiles in the Hartlaub pits following the effort.  Not only was it an impressive run that salvaged what could have been a disappointing night thanks to a fluke helmet issue, Kody had taken over the top spot in the season point standings.

April 30th:  Lincoln Speedway / Abbottstown, PA

      (29 cars, Heat 2nd, A-main 12th)

The final April event for the 358 sprint cars at Lincoln Speedway brought yet another deep field, this time 29 cars.  As had become the norm this season the night would consist of four 10-lap heats with the top 2 entering the handicap.

The one thing Kody Hartlaub can’t seem to get to go his way so far this year is his pill draw.  Once again, he found himself in the back half of the starting lineup for his heat race.  He was up to the challenge though, working his way up from his 6th starting spot and into 2nd.

With his best A-main starting spot secured since opening night back in March, Hartlaub was eyeing his first podium finish since then as well.  Unfortunately on lap two he became a victim collected by an incident in front of him.

Hartlaub’s machine suffered damage to the nerf bar, wing and headers.  Amazingly his team, with help from competitors, was able to bolt on new headers and make repairs on the other damage in time to allow Hartlaub to rejoin the rear of the field for the restart.  He was able to climb nine spots in the remaining laps, salvaging a 12th place finish.

I think we were definitely a top-5 car tonight, probably even a podium car, if we hadn’t gotten caught up in that early crash.  That’s racing.  It happens.  I have to thank my team and the others who pitched in to get us fixed up and back out there.  Really proud of my team.“, Hartlaub commented.  “We were able to get back out there, gain some spots and save our night from being a total loss.  That could be big when we get down to the end of the season (in points).”

Eleven scheduled races remain for the 358 sprints at Lincoln Speedway in 2022.  The points championship is likely to be a great battle to the end among numerous teams.

We’ve been building the depth of our program.  That’s another important part of competing for points.  First it was just trying to have two of each critical part.  Now we are in the process of preparing a second car and motor so we’re not at risk of missing any races if we run into issues. “, Hartlaub shared.

Victory has eluded Hartlaub and his team thus far in 2022, but their steady performances and ability to recover from setbacks, would indicate that’s a goal they will reach.

Up Next

Hartlaub tentatively has Path Valley Speedway Park (PA) on his schedule for May 14th. Stay tuned to Kody Hartlaub Racing or Addicted2Dirt PR on social media for updates closer to race day.

The next firm plan for the team is the 358 Summer series event on May 21st at Lincoln Speedway (PA), which will also be Kid’s Night featuring Big Wheel races.

Henderson and Sandvig Score First Top-Five Finish of 2022 at Knoxville Raceway

Knoxville, IA – May 4, 2022

by Justin Snyder, Addicted2Dirt PR & Media Management

Feature Photo Credit:  Ken’s Racing Pix

The third time was the charm for Justin Henderson and Mike Sandvig Motorsports as the duo finally kicked off their 2022 racing campaign at the famed Knoxville Raceway in Knoxville, Iowa Saturday night following two weekends of inclement weather.

The long wait paid off as the team picked up their first top five of the season with a fourth-place finish.

“It felt good to finally get on track on Knoxville, but I wish it didn’t take this long,” said Henderson. “We still had to deal with the elements in terms of wind and such, but overall, we hung on for a top five and that’s not bad.”

Henderson began the evening by timing in second quickest in qualifying with a fastest lap of 14.918 seconds. This marked the second consecutive week that Henderson showed speed right off the trailer as he set quick time at Knoxville the weekend before prior before rain entered the picture.

“The car is really stable early in the night, and it seems we have the right things working for us then,” he said. “We really have not been able to learn a whole lot to start the year just quite yet, but we know for sure we have speed.”

He backed up the impressive qualifying performance by advancing three positions in a heat race to finish third and lock himself into the A-main.

“It was one of those deals where we went into one and two and we were pretty much fourth right away because a row just didn’t take off,” said Henderson. “We were able to pass another car and anytime you are moving forward is a good time.”

Lining up from the outside-second row for the feature, Henderson quickly moved into the third position by the completion of lap one. He settled into the final podium spot throughout the first half of the event before slipping to fifth after a mid-race restart.

Following a fuel only open red with nine laps remaining, Henderson battled back to finish where he started- fourth- in the A-main for his first top-five of the season.

“We tried some things set up wise that the car drastically changed once the fuel load came off,” he said. “Being able to add fuel there worked to our advantage and the car got better and really came to life. I think we definitely know not to do that again, but overall; we had a fast car all night.”

Next up for the duo will their first two-race weekend of the season as they will return to Knoxville Raceway on Saturday before competing in the $5000-to-win Cressman Santitation Shootout at Huset’s Speedway in Brandon, South Dakota on Sunday.

Henderson enters Huset’s as the defending track champion in the 410 Sprint Car division and will be looking to back-up a 2021 season that saw him score five victories and 12 top five finishes in 18 events at the 3/8 mile oval dirt track.

“It’s my job to be up front and that’s what we are going there for,” he said. “This year will be tougher as I think the field will be a lot tougher this season. But we know how good we are there, and the goal is for that to not change. We’re coming in looking to win and that’s going to be our goal each week all season.”

Kyle Reinhardt Dialing It in Under the Radar

Six Midwest Races on Tap During Month of May

Hartford, OH – May 4, 2022

by Addicted2Dirt PR & Media Management

Feature Photo Credit:  Chad Warner Photography

Coming off a solid four-race week that contained more ups than downs, Kyle Reinhardt prepared to hit the road once again with the Tezos All Star Circuit of Champions.  His goal was to turn those performances into sustained momentum.

Reinhardt and the Capitol Renegade team were looking to keep things trending in the right direction and given their destinations, they would have to earn it.  The tests would come in the form of Lernerville Speedway (PA), a new venue for the NJ native, and Sharon Speedway (OH), a track that presented him with significant challenges in 2021.

April 29:  Lernerville Speedway / Sarver, PA

      (44 cars, Qualifying 4th Group B/15th Overall, Heat 2nd, A-main 14th)

Considering he had never turned a lap at Sarver, PA’s Lernerville Speedway before, Kyle Reinhardt’s night didn’t get off to a bad start at all.  He registered the 15th quickest lap of the 44 cars on hand, good enough for 4th quick in his group.

Reinhardt followed that up with a 2nd place finish in his 8-lap heat race.  After starting 3rd, the sophomore member of the All Star series, charged into the runner-up spot on the opening lap and held onto it throughout.

Rolling off 12th for the 30-lap A-main in his Capitol Renegade / Capitol Custom Coaches & Trailers / Champion Hi-Tech Lubricants / J&J Auto Racing No.91, Reinhardt found himself battling hard to maintain track position throughout the event.  He was able to hang tough, hovering between 12th-13th throughout, until the final lap when Sye Lynch slipped by and dropped Reinhardt to 14th at the finish.

April 30:  Sharon Speedway / Hartford, OH

      (41 cars, Qualifying 2nd Group B/7th Overall, Heat 2nd, A-main 13th)

Car counts for the All Stars topped 40 for the fourth consecutive event when the series rolled into Sharon Speedway in Ohio.

Reinhardt kicked off his night with an encouraging qualifying lap that landed him 7th quick overall and 2nd best in his group.  It was only step one, but it was huge to a team that had failed to earn their way into two of three ASCoC events at the Hartford, OH facility in 2021.

The qualifying effort put Reinhardt on the pole of the second heat, with a good opportunity to grab the win and secure a spot in the dash.  Unfortunately, George Hobaugh had other ideas.  Reinhardt came home second to Hobaugh in the 8-lap qualifier.

In the opening laps of the 30-lap A-main, Reinhardt fell back slightly from his 11th starting spot.  He managed to settle into 14th and hold that spot for the first 23 laps before recovering one position to 13th in the closing laps.

Do we want to run 13th?  Obviously not, but we have to stay focused on the positives.  Last year we weren’t qualifying for some of these races or we were getting into the show through the B-main, so we’re going the right direction on things that we struggled with in the past. “, Reinhardt commented.

In 2021, Reinhardt’s first year on the tour, he netted a pair of top 10’s in the first seven races.  Through seven events in 2022 Reinhardt only has one top-10, but that is not a telling measure of the start to his season.

Reinhardt has been more consistent thus far in 2022 and the stats show the improvement.  At this point in 2021, Reinhardt’s average finish in heat races was 5.3.  In 2022 he has improved that average to 3.6.  Comparing his average A-main finish to date in 2022 to this point last year shows an improvement from 23.1 to 17.0.

We’re clearly not where we want to be yet, but our slick track program is definitely improving.  That was our biggest weakness last year, so I’m happy with the progress we’ve made.  We’ll keep working at it and get to where we want to be. “, Reinhardt said.  “We’re time-trialing better this year.  That’s a big deal in this format.  That was another thing we worked really hard to improve.

Up Next

Reinhardt will take the upcoming weekend off due to the tire shortages in the sprint car world, but he will be in action at Lincoln Speedway (Abbottstown, PA) on Wednesday, May 11th against the World of Outlaws.

Kyle and the Capitol Renegade No.91 will rejoin the All Stars for a 3-race weekend May 13th-15th, with races at I-96 Speedway (Lake Odessa, MI) Friday, Wayne County Speedway (Orrville, OH) Saturday, and Waynesfield Raceway Park (Waynesfield, OH) Sunday.

Season Stats

13 races, 0 wins, 3 top 5’s, 4 top 10’s, 8 top 15’s, 7 top 20’s

Jeff Halligan Remains Consistent; Scores Another Top 10

Risser Motorsports in Position for More Success

Port Royal, PA – May 3, 2022

by Addicted2Dirt PR & Media Management

Feature Photo Credit:  Chris Hockley / WRT SpeedWerx

On the heels of his 5th top-10, the most recent coming against the Tezos All Star Circuit of Champions at Port Royal Speedway last weekend, Jeff Halligan returned to ‘The Speed Palace’ to begin chapter two of 2022.

‘Chapter two’ refers to the team’s phased approach to the season.  The All Star event culminated chapter one.  Now, entering the next phase, there are only three opportunities on the schedule to prepare for the next marquee event, the 2-day Bob Weikert Memorial at the end of May.  The Saturday/Sunday show will pay $10,000 and $29,000 to win respectively and will once again include the All Star series.  Saturday, April 30th presented the first of those three chances to be primed and ready for the next potential big pay day.

April 30:  Port Royal Speedway / Port Royal, PA

     (20 cars, Heat [1] 1st, Heat [2] 8th, A-main 6th)

The format for the night was dual 6-lap heats in which drivers could earn passing points.  After six laps, points are earned based on starting position versus finishing position.  Then, the original starting lineup is inverted and the field runs another six laps, again earning points based on their gain/loss of positions at the checkered flag.

A random pill draw set the initial heat lineups for the 20 teams on hand.  The top nine drivers in points following the dual heat races would get a chance to draw for their starting spot inside the top-1o for the 25-lap feature event.

Jeff Halligan lined up 3rd for the first of his two heat races.  He bolted to the lead on the opening lap and never looked back, earning the maximum points possible for the Risser Motorsports / TheTreeCenter.com / Victory Auto of Lewistown / EMM Sales & Service / Jake’s Golf Carts, No.45.

The second heat race was lined up by inverting the original starting lineup, putting Halligan 8th for the second 6-lap segment.  He was unable to gain any ground in the short event, coming home right where he started.

Having missed an opportunity in the second heat race to earn a few passing points and move himself up in the main event starting lineup, Halligan prepared his plan of attack for the A-main from his 10th starting position.

Halligan charged into 8th on the opening lap, then gave up one spot on the following circuit.  He held firmly onto 9th, not making much forward progress, until the race reached the final ten laps.

Halligan mounted a late charge, as he has done on several occasions this year, navigating his way from 9th to 6th in the closing laps, including a last lap pass for the final spot.

We’re really close.  We’re right there running with the top guys.  We just missed an opportunity tonight.  Should’ve been in the redraw…needed one spot in the second heat race. “, Halligan commented.

I can’t be upset with our night.  We finished 6th and put it in the trailer in one piece.  It’s a little frustrating, but not as frustrating as having to put a second car together this week.

With six top-10’s in seven races, Halligan now sits in 4th place in the 2022 410 Sprint Car Championship points standings at Port Royal Speedway, just 25 points out of 2nd place.

Jeff Halligan and Risser Motorsports will be back at Port Royal on Saturday, May 7th.
