Reinhardt’s Pennsylvania Speedweek Cut Short

Bechtelsville, PA – July 9, 2024

The weather in Central Pennsylvania wasn’t the only thing that was too hot during PA Speedweek. Kyle Reinhardt battled engine overheating issues two nights in a row before cutting his week short to avoid hurting the engine.

Prior to the unfortunate issues, Reinhardt was headed for a career-best Speedweek points finish.

Entering the second half of the ten-race series, Reinhardt sat 6th in the point standings.

TOO HOT

Wednesday night at Port Royal Speedway, a place that has been challenging in recent years, Reinhardt’s qualifying lap ranked him 9th in Group B and put him 5th on the starting grid for his heat race.  With the top five transferring to the A-main, it put the New Oxford, PA driver in good position to make the show.

Reinhardt got the job done, finishing 5th and transferring to the feature.  He went on to move forward a few spots and finish 15th in the 30-lap finale.

The following night the series visited Hagerstown Speedway, a track Reinhardt said he looks forward to racing each year when the sprint cars make their lone annual visit.

Reinhardt qualified 18th at the Maryland half-mile and logged another heat race finish of 5th to transfer to the A-main once again.

Despite managing an engine that was running hot during Thursday’s show, Reinhardt made it through the 30-lap feature to record a 15th-place finish.

Friday night Speedweek action returned to Williams Grove Speedway where Reinhardt had logged a top ten finish a week earlier in the Capitol Custom Coaches & Trailers, Coors Banquet Beer, E-Z-GO Golf Cars, Henry’s Wrecker Service No.91.

His qualifying result was on par with the week before but he battled an overheating engine again in his heat race, slipping back two spots to a 7th place finish.

Reinhardt was forced to make the tough call to end his week before the B-main took to the track.

“Hate to have to pull the plug on our week but I just can’t afford to hurt this engine and my other engine is currently getting freshened. I want to thank David, Mike, Kent, and Chris for all their hard work and efforts this week.”, Reinhardt said.

I think we made better improvements with the car but I think we were being held back with engine issues during the week. Definitely disappointing to end early after such a grueling effort all week long.

UP NEXT

Reinhardt had already planned to take a break in his schedule after Speedweek.  That break now becomes a must while he gets his engines back in race-ready condition before the World of Outlaws’ summer swing through Central Pennsylvania.

The Neptune City, NJ native plans to complete with the Outlaws at BAPS Motor Speedway on July 24th and Williams Grove Speedway on July 26th and 27th.

Reinhardt Heating Up With Podium, Two Top 10’s During Early PA Speedweek Action

Bechtelsville, PA – July 3, 2024

by Addicted2Dirt PR & Media Mgmt

Photo Credit:  Jeremy Zarfos / WRT Speedwerx

The first three months of the 2024 season were trying for Kyle Reinhardt.  After a career-best 410 sprint car season in 2023 in which he recorded three wins and thirty top-ten finishes in sixty one races, the Neptune City, NJ native expected to pick up where he left off when he opened the new season.

It hasn’t worked out that way.  The first dozen races resulted in just three top ten finishes, the best being a 7th.

The car that had been so good to him last year got dinged a bit late in the year and it just wasn’t the same after repairs were made over the winter.  As Pennsylvania Speedweek approached, Reinhardt pulled out a fresh frame and things started to improve.  Then during the opening weekend of Speedweek, Chris Shuttlesworth rejoined the team to turn the wrenches.

Now, four races into the Speedweek series, he has clicked off three top ten finishes, including a podium at BAPS Motor Speedway in the Capitol Custom Coaches & Trailers, Coors Banquet Beer, E-Z-GO Golf Cars, Henry’s Wrecker Service No.91.

BACK ON TRACK

On opening night of PA Speedweek at Williams Grove, Reinhardt qualified 8th in Group B and logged a 3rd place finish in his heat race, putting him 14th on the grid for the main event.

The night’s finale was a confidence-builder for Reinhardt.  Despite getting crossed up early and slipping back as far as 18th, he drove back to a 10th-place finish by the end of the night.

Saturday night’s event at Lincoln Speedway rained out just after time trials, sending the series on to night three at BAPS Motor Speedway.

Everything clicked for Reinhardt on Sunday night.  He timed 4th quick in Group B and went on to lead every lap to win his heat.

Drawing the pole for the feature certainly isn’t a bad thing, although it may have worked against Reinhardt Sunday.  The high side was the fast way around BAPS Motor Speedway and he was lining up on the low side.

At the completion of lap one, Reinhardt had settled into third and was working to reel Danny Dietrich and Anthony Macri in.  When the dust settled after thirty laps, the top trio remained the same.  It was Reinhardt’s first podium of the season.

Back at Lincoln on Monday night with 36 teams on hand, Reinhardt qualified 13th in Group B, then pushed forward to a 4th place finish in his heat race after starting 7th.  He went on to log a 13th place finish in the A-main.

On night five of PA Speedweek at Grandview Speedway, Reinhardt’s night got off to a tough start.  He timed 17th overall and finished 5th in his heat race.

It was in the feature that Reinhardt bounced back.  Showing that he made the right adjustments, he advanced six spots to an 8th place finish.

“We are finding speed and consistency this week.  We’re looking forward to continuing to build on that.”, Reinhardt said.

Reinhardt currently sits 6th in the PA Speedweek points with five races remaining.

Kody Hartlaub Leads Laps, Continues To Build Momentum in Trone 39

Abbottstown, PA – June 27, 2024

by Addicted2Dirt PR & Media Mgmt

Kody Hartlaub opened up the month of June with two top-ten finishes for his new team, the Trone Outdoors No.39.

As the month moved on and headed towards the annual summer tradition that is Pennsylvania Speedweek, the most grueling test his team would face this season, Hartlaub and crew chief Kevin Frey were focused on continuing to fine-tune the details that would make the East Berlin driver more comfortable and further improve the team’s performance.

CONTINUING CONSISTENCY

At Williams Grove Speedway on June 14th, Hartlaub moved forward in his heat race and started inside the top ten in the main event.

The night had the makings of another top ten, however Hartlaub slipped back a few spots out of the top ten in the early going, then late in the race the night took a turn for the worse when he got caught up in someone else’s accident.  The damage ended his night early with a 16th-place finish.

The following night at Lincoln Speedway Hartlaub again moved forward in his heat race, capturing a runner-up finish and securing the 6th starting spot in the A-main.

Hartlaub charged toward the front in the early going, climbing as high as 2nd on lap nine.  He slipped back, outside of the top five at the midpoint of the race and ultimately finished 7th.

CHEMISTRY

The June 21st & 22nd weekend brought the final tune-up races at Williams Grove and Lincoln before Speedweek.  At ‘The Grove’ Hartlaub recorded another top-ten finish, a 9th in the final rundown.

Saturday’s race at Lincoln may have been the most telling and most valuable of Hartlaub’s first eight races in the Trone 39.  He qualified 3rd quickest in the field and went on to win his heat race, but it was the A-main that provided the most valuable experience.

Hartlaub took command of the race from the pole position and remained out front for the first 24 laps of the 30-lap affair.  He kept names like Wagaman, Rahmer, and Bollinger behind him.

As the race entered its final ten laps, Hartlaub was holding nearly a straightaway lead, navigating lapped traffic smoothly.  With six laps remaining, he attempted to slide a lapped car that was racing in his preferred line but he couldn’t complete the pass.

Another attempt two corners later was the decision Hartlaub would later regret.  The slide job killed his momentum and allowed Matt Campbell to close the gap and get by for the lead.  The sequence not only stole his momentum, it also took him out of his rhythm and cost him two more spots in the final three laps to officially finish 4th.

“I know what I would do differently next time.”, Hartlaub said of the late-race decision that cost him the lead.  “Inexperience bit me.  Lesson learned.”

“I’m disappointed we didn’t get the win tonight but I can’t be unhappy about how we have been running only eight races in.  We’re all working really well together, we’re competitive, we’re getting better every week, and we’re having fun.”

With a solid first month in the seat of the Trone No.39, Hartlaub appears ready to embark on the PA Speedweek journey.  He heads into Speedweek having logged five top-ten finishes in his first eight starts aboard the Trone 39.

“We have got a really good chemistry in the shop and at the track.  There has been great communication and collaboration.  Kevin and I are working well together, making decisions together, and everyone involved has settled into their roles.”, Hartlaub added.

“As far as in the seat, I was worried about time trialing coming into the season because that was something we didn’t do much in 358’s and I knew it was something I would need to get good at to be competitive in a 410.  Racing twice every weekend, many of them time trial shows has helped me tremendously.  Not only with qualifying but with racing in general.  Nothing beats seat time.”

“I take the history of this sport seriously, so being able to drive the Trone 39, which is an iconic car especially here in PA, means a lot to me and I’m going to work hard to keep this car at the front of the field for as long as I have the opportunity.”

Kyle Keen Prepares for First 410 PA Sprint Speedweek Competition

Port Royal, PA – June 26, 2024

by Addicted2Dirt PR & Media Mgmt

Photo Credit:  Jeremy Zarfos / WRT Speedwerx

Kyle Keen has been grinding through the first half of his first full 410 sprint car season, racing as often as possible to gain experience and shorten the learning curve.

Central PA is not the shallow end of the pool when it comes to sprint car racing, so the journey has required a lot of patience and the ability to recognize progress isn’t measured by finishing position.

The upcoming Pennsylvania Speedweek will be another opportunity and test for the 410 rookie.

WEEKEND RECAP

Before we get to Keen’s Speedweek plans, let’s take a quick look back at the recent weekend.

As he has been almost every weekend this season, Keen signed in at Williams Grove Speedway Friday night and Port Royal Speedway Saturday night.

While the finishes may not draw headlines, Keen has been getting more and more comfortable in the Fine Line Auto Body, Hess Bid / Hess Auctioneers, Keen Parts / CorvetteParts.net, Shetron Trailers, Heishman Racing Fuels, DL Lehman Construction, Fuel Ox No.17k.

Friday night at ‘The Grove’, Keen made his 6th consecutive A-main and 10th in his first 14 attempts.

Saturday night at ‘The Speed Palace’, Keen qualified 14th in the field of 28, timing better than several veteran teams.  He then went on to navigate a tough A-main and survive for a 16th-place finish.

The key takeaway is this:  along the way, Keen is making shows and giving himself the chance to make as many laps as possible.  Every lap is valuable seat time that provides experience.  This is the year to learn and build a notebook for the future.

“I think the season so far has gone as expected. We’ve been getting humbled every week, but every week we keep on getting just a tick better. Last week was a big step for us as we qualified what we felt like was pretty well with the competition that is at port Royal right now. We out-qualified some veteran guys and I think that says a lot about how far we’ve come with the car, but as you look ahead you see how far we still have to go to be in the top 5.”, Keen shared.

“Nothing we have done on the track has been super sexy like you get with some of the younger kids that show up and jump in and go race. We’ve had to start from scratch with me as a driver and with a completely new 410 program and it’s taking time to learn the ropes of this deal. But, I wouldn’t have it any other way. We keep on grinding every week, and every week we find something we could have been better at and get just that little bit much better. I’m excited for the future of this program. Do I think it’s going to take time? Absolutely. Will it be worth it? Without a doubt.”

The upcoming Pennsylvania Speedweek will be the toughest series of races Keen has tackled in a 410 sprint car yet.  He sees it as another opportunity to learn and he’s ready for the challenge.

“Right now the priority is figuring out how to race well. We are piecing together the night on the front end, but right now we are struggling with the features. These guys are on it from the time they roll the car out of the trailer. I’m excited for when we get to that point. I really want to grow this team into a professional-looking operation with results to match. I’m excited to get there and can’t thank all of our partners who help us get to where we need to be.”, Keen said with a clear tone of determination and anticipation in his voice.

Keen will tackle five nights of the upcoming Speedweek.  He will kick it off this Friday night at Williams Grove Speedway’s $10,000-to-win Speedweek opener.

Cappetta Puts Together Another Top 10 Night; Always Room for Improvement

Abbottstown, PA – June 26, 2024

by Emily Winslow / Addicted2Dirt PR & Media Mgmt

Photo Credit:  Jeremy Zarfos / WRT Speedwerx

The night started with a decent pill draw for Cappetta, putting her on the front row for the start of her heat race, “In the heat race felt good. It didn’t make much of a difference if I won versus finishing second, I’m just glad we could stay up front.”

Cappetta lined up on the outside of the front row for the feature on Saturday night, her best starting position of the season. There was a caution on the initial start, which meant the field lined up for a complete restart, “I was grateful for the second start because the first one was worse, but the motor stumbled on both starts.” Saturday was a scorcher and the heat and high temperatures played a big factor in the fuel system which is likely what caused the motor to act up. Despite the solid starting spot the feature was a frustrating one for Cappetta, “I couldn’t keep the car under me. If I would try to hit the bottom the car would skate up the track and I had my wing in the trunk by lap three.” Another piece of the puzzle that did not help things is the inconsistency of the tires, “it doesn’t allow for the right stagger for setups.”

“It sucks starting on the front row and then going backward like that. Every restart killed me because of the motor stumble and when I would try to slow the car down the motor stumble would kick in.” After 20 laps Cappetta crossed the line eighth, “If we would have stayed green I feel like we could have put together a top-five run. It just wasn’t our night, but I have to remind myself that we are still having a really good season compared to the last two.”

Another thing to factor into Saturday is that Cappetta and the entire race team worked all day, from 5:30 am to getting the car back to the stop after the car wash, “The team worked through the heat and we were all tired at the end of the night, but I couldn’t do it without them.”

Newlin Records 358 Podium Finish at Grove, Takes On Port Royal in 410

Port Royal, PA – June 25, 2024

by Addicted2Dirt PR & Media Mgmt

Zach Newlin finally got to put a long-awaited two-race weekend under his belt for the first time during the 2024 season.  He has had plenty of those in the past during his successful 305 and 358 sprint car days but when you are working to build your own 410 sprint car team, they don’t come as easily or frequently.

Friday and Saturday he doubled-up with the Mansberger Motorsports 358 and his own 410 sprint car to get some quality seat time.

SO CLOSE

Friday night Newlin returned to the seat of the Mansberger Motorsports 358 sprint car for his 5th race of the year in the No.21m.  After starting the season with a runner-up finish, the team has battled bad draws, incidents, and handling issues as they have worked to get back to racing at the front of the pack.

Newlin kicked off the night by claiming a 4th place finish in his heat race, which was all he needed to put his team in the redraw.

For a change, luck worked in Newlin’s favor and put him on the pole for the 25-lap Summer Series main event.

From the drop of the green, Newlin found himself in 2nd and chasing leader Adam Carberry.  Numerous times throughout the event the Millerstown, PA native pressured the leader but it seemed each time he was about to strike, the caution lights would come on.

Newlin tried a final charge in the closing laps but jumped the cushion and packed his right side wheels with mud.  Doug Hammaker took advantage of the opportunity to slip by, dropping Newlin to a 3rd-place finish.

“Those cautions sure didn’t help us tonight.  Seemed like every time I would catch Adam (Carberry) and be ready to challenge for the lead the yellow would come out.”, Newlin said of the podium run.

“I could catch him (Carberry) on entry but he was a little better off the corner than I was.  After the late caution, I knew I didn’t have many laps left, so I went to the cushion to try to build up some momentum for one last shot but that bit me.  I got over the cushion and packed some mud in the wheel.  That gave Doug (Hammaker) the chance to get under me.”

“I have to give a shout-out to my daughter for pulling the pole in the redraw.  We haven’t had much luck pulling pills this year, so it was nice to have a little luck for a change!”

DIALING IT IN

Newlin made his second appearance of the season and second in a row with his family-owned 410 sprint car at Port Royal Speedway Saturday night.

In his debut the week before, Newlin experienced electrical or ignition issues that hampered his efforts to begin to build a notebook for the Ron’s RV Sales, Butler Hill Maple Farm, Tuscarora Roofing, Dillman Hauling No.11z.

Although the team thought they had found the issue from the previous week, Newlin’s night got off to a tough start when the issue resurfaced.   As a result, he ranked 26th after qualifying and finished 9th in his heat.

In the B-main things began to turn around.  Newlin charged from 8th to 5th by lap two and survived a restart after a caution to claim a transfer spot and put his bright green No.11z in its first A-main of the season.

Newlin exited the feature event after just seven laps when the problem returned.  He was credited with a 23rd-place finish.

“The caution in the B-main probably saved me.  The car started having issues again but it settled down during the caution and then ran well after that.”, Newlin commented.

“Unfortunately it started happening again early in the A-main.  We will get it figured out in the shop this week.”

UP NEXT

This weekend Newlin will climb back into the seat of the Mansberger Motorsports No.21m 358 sprint car Friday night at Williams Grove Speedway.

Newlin said the team will sit out of the upcoming Pennsylvania 410 Sprint Speedweek.

“We’re not equipped for time trial shows right now.  The engine we’re running is down on horsepower compared to most of these guys.  We have to be smart about when and where we race to get the most laps to develop our notebook and our program.”, Newlin shared.

Stay tuned to Zach’s social media outlets listed below to be the first to know when schedule updates are posted!

Cappetta Looking Ahead; Putting Tough Weekend Behind Her

Abbottstown, PA – June 14, 2024

by Emily Winslow / Addicted2Dirt PR & Media Mgmt

Photo Credit:  Jeremy Zarfos / WRT Speedwerx

Saturday night’s Elijah Hawkins Memorial at Lincoln Speedway was not the best night of the season for Cappetta and the team, but Ashley looks at the night as a learning experience and an opportunity to regroup and make adjustments for the next race.

“The pill draw wasn’t terrible but it was enough to put me in the back of the heat race.” Track conditions did not help Cappetta’s efforts to move forward in her heat, “The track was really dry by the time we went out. Turns 1 and 2 were really slick and you had to hit the bottom of the corner just right.” Cappetta lined up sixth for the heat race and finished fourth, one spot shy of the redraw, “I made a two-car pass in the first turn and then settled in. I was hoping to make the invert but with the way the track was it was hard to get up to where we needed to be.”

Ashley lined up 15th for the start of the feature, “On the initial start I got up to 13th after passing two cars in the first turn.” Unfortunately for Cappetta, the initial start was called back and the complete restart did not go as well, “On the second start I got shuffled back and got stuck behind someone. I had a lot of wheel spin off the turns and the car wasn’t good enough to move ahead.” Anytime Cappetta would get up to pass someone they would pass her back coming off turn 4. Cappetta continued to have pain in her hand and it amped up during the feature, “Overall it really wasn’t a good night, but the team will make some adjustments for the next race and regroup and work to do better.” Ashley crossed the line 16th to close out the 20-lap feature.

After starting off the season strong Cappetta and the team will look to rebound and pick up where they left off at Lincoln on June 22.

Hartlaub Nets Podium Finish, Gelling Quickly with Trone 39 Team

East Berlin, PA – June 14, 2024

As the month of May came to a close, Kody Hartlaub embarked on an opportunity that arose after a hard crash left him short of equipment.

He would pilot the Trone No.39 for at least a few weeks to fill the void.  After that, well, that would be a bridge to be crossed when the time came.

DEBUT WEEKEND

The opening weekend for Hartlaub and the Trone team had a couple of glimpses of potential with a 7th-place qualifying effort and a 3rd-place heat race finish at Lincoln.  With full fields both nights, the feature finishes, 17th and 15th, were respectable for a new venture.

For Hartlaub, the first two races, and maybe even the first few weeks, would not be about stats and finishes.  It would be about developing a working chemistry and communication with his new team.

Transitions like this typically lead to a lot of adjustments.  The driver sometimes adjusts his approach a little to accommodate a crew chief and more often a team makes equipment and setup changes to make their new driver comfortable.

Opening night at Williams Grove Speedway adjustments were ongoing throughout the night.  The same was true the following night at Lincoln Speedway.  It was all in the name of finding the right combination to be fast together.

SPEEDY PROGRESS

Heading into their second weekend together, the team, led by crew chief Kevin Frey, assembled a new car for Hartlaub.  The effort clearly was worth it.

Hartlaub kicked off the night with an impressive Friday night drive from 5th to 2nd in his heat race to earn the 4th starting spot for the A-main.

In the 25-lap finale, Hartlaub was again impressive.  He grabbed the 3rd spot on the opening lap and found his rhythm.  On lap nine, the Littlestown (PA) native grabbed the runner-up spot and set his sights on leader Cameron Smith.

With a few circuits remaining, defending track champion Freddie Rahmer wrestled the runner-up spot away from Hartlaub who ultimately brought the Trone No.39 home with a podium finish in 3rd.

Hartlaub wrapped up his weekend at Lincoln Speedway the following night where the results continued to be encouraging for East Berlin (PA) resident in his first full 410 sprint car season.  He timed 6th quickest in the field.

In heat race action, Hartlaub continued to impress by logging a 2nd place finish behind veteran Lucas Wolfe.

In the nightcap, Hartlaub started 9th and brought home a very respectable top-ten finish.

UP NEXT

Discussions were held this week about the path forward.  The result:  Hartlaub will remain in the car through the end of the year and his partners will be right there with him.

“I want to add a huge thank you to my sponsors, J Fuels and Brewer first and foremost, for allowing me to do this and following me with this venture.”, Hartlaub said.

Hartlaub and the Trone 39 team will return to Williams Grove Speedway and Lincoln Speedway this Friday and Saturday.

Kyle Reinhardt Scores Top-5 in First Trip to Huset’s Speedway

Eagle, NE – June 13, 2024

by Addicted2Dirt PR & Media Mgmt

Kyle Reinhardt was preparing to race his own No.91 at Lincoln Speedway’s Elijah Hawkins Memorial last weekend but his plans quickly changed when Bernie Stuebgen reached out and asked the Neptune City, NJ native to wheel his Indy Race Parts No.71 at a couple of Midwest shows.

Reinhardt filled the seat of Stuebgen’s car at a High Limit Racing event last year at Grandview Speedway.  He recorded a top-ten finish that night.  Opportunity knocked again last week to wheel the car at Knoxville Raceway Saturday night and again a few days later at the Eagle Raceway (NE) High Limit Racing event.

MIDWEST MISSION

Reinhardt’s first trip to Knoxville Raceway in 2024 Saturday night was also his first time in the seat of the No.71 this year.  With only a few hot laps under his belt, he took to the half-mile for qualifying.  His best lap ranked him 19th in the field of 30.

A 7th-place run in his heat put him 19th on the grid for the A-main.  He netted a 17th-place finish in that 20-lap finale.

“We were behind the 8-ball tonight by about one track session.  We were playing catch-up all night but got better by the end.  I wish we had another go at it.”, Reinhardt said.

Ripped the nose wing off when a few cars stacked up coming to the green in the feature. Bernie had the wrench spinning & made some big changes that got us better.”

A last-minute decision early Sunday made Reinhardt and the Indy Race Parts No.71 a surprise entry at Huset’s Speedway in Brandon, SD that night.  The 3/8-mile banked oval was another first for Reinhardt but it didn’t show.

He posted the 3rd quickest lap in Group A qualifying, then converted a 3rd place start in his heat race to a runner-up finish, putting himself solidly inside the top ten to start the A-main.

From his starting spot inside row four, Reinhardt grabbed the 6th spot on the opening circuit and settled in there until near the midpoint of the 25-lap finale.

The car got even better in the late stages and Reinhardt didn’t waste it.  He cracked the top five on lap fourteen, then claimed the 4th spot on lap twenty-three, which is where he took the checkers.

“We definitely rebounded tonight.  That felt good.”, Reinhardt commented.

“I want to thank Bernie for the opportunity.  He gave me a great car.  I also want to thank Tod Quiring and Huset’s Speedway for having us.  That is a bad-ass track and I’m extremely happy I had the opportunity to race here.”

The third leg of Reinhardt’s Midwest tour took him to Eagle Raceway in Nebraska on Tuesday night.  A stout field of 43 teams was on hand for the $50,000-to-win High Limit Racing event.

Cappetta Continues to Head in the Right Direction; Solid Top 10 in the Books at Lincoln

Abbottstown, PA – June 6, 2024

Ashley Cappetta put together a solid night at Lincoln for the Steve Smith Tribute Race on Saturday despite battling severe pain in her hand. The Steve Smith race is a special one for Cappetta and the team as Ashley’s dad worked for Smith during his Hall of Fame career.

Cappetta lined up third for her heat race, “the car was ok in the heat race. I could have been tighter to be a little more comfortable.” Despite not being 100% Ashley finished second in the heat, putting her in the redraw, “There wasn’t much passing in the heat race and as soon as everyone got settled after the start it pretty much stayed that way. I did start to feel a little better after I moved the wing back. I probably could have gotten up on the wheel more but by lap 3 my hand started to cramp and I knew I was in a redraw spot and wasn’t going to do anything crazy.”

Unfortunately, Ashley had been experiencing pain in her hand for a few weeks which did not make wheeling a race car an easy task.

The redraw led to a twelfth-place starting spot for the feature, which was the worst starting spot in the redraw but with a new outlook on things Cappetta said, “Pill draws happen for a reason.” Starting a little further back ended up not being a bad thing as it allowed Cappetta to avoid some incidents early in the race.

Around lap five of the 20-lap feature, Cappetta’s hand started to cramp again, “With my hand in the condition it was, I felt like I did the best we could. I moved around on the track until I felt comfortable. The cautions helped with my hand, but I could hear someone behind me.”

Ashley crossed the line seventh, her second seventh-place run of the season, “I’m ok with seventh. Going out there to do my best and moving forward is obviously a positive.” Overall Cappetta and the team are heading in the right direction, “I feel like we’re getting close, we’re about 80% there with just a few things to work on to get 100% comfortable.”

Positive Outlook

A lot can change in a year, and that is definitely the case for Ashley Cappetta and the Cappetta Racing Team, “We’re already three races in and rolling off better than our entire season last year. It’s a lot easier going to the track now after constantly struggling all last season. We definitely have more of a positive outlook.”

Another aspect that has changed this season is Cappetta’s approach to pill draw, “This season I’m not letting the pill draw deter me like I did last year. The first race of the year helped with that. Coaching softball has helped with that too, I’ve been preaching to the girls about making your own luck and to look at things more positively.”
