Late Season Lessons

Mifflintown, PA – October 4, 2024

As the month of September marched on, races became more scattered for Lane Snook and team. The team took to the Path Valley Speedway on September 14th, for a night of racing at the Spring Run ¼ mile. Snook put the limited late model in victory lane earlier in the season at the tight bullring. Speed and confidence continued for the 23 team.

Lane would roll off from the 7th starting position in the feature. A lesson in patience and perseverance was shown to the young 16-year-old. “I was able to move my way up to second throughout the race and battle for the lead,” stated Snook, “but with harder tires and lots of cautions at the end of the race, we ended up second.” Coming up one spot short of his second triumph of the season at Path Valley, but still garnering a podium finish.

This would be the last time the 23 car would roll onto the track in September, but the driver would take a few weeks to gain valuable experience and knowledge from friend Drake Troutman. Lane was able to travel with the Lucas Oil Late Model tour racer to the Knoxville Late Model Nationals and Brownstown Speedway. Snook found the experience to be different but in a good way. “It’s definitely cool traveling all over the place and getting to watch some of the best, and to see how they do it.” Lessons learned over the course of the trip could help the young racer who is still learning the ins and outs of the Late Model scene.

“I’ve learned a lot about different ways of how to set the car up and understanding why they do it.” As many older racers and crew chiefs will say, every driver should learn how the car works and how to work on it. These are valuable skills for the Mifflintown native to learn. “I’m grateful to Drake for allowing me to come help him and for him teaching me stuff about cars and how the cars work.”

Another thing that most drivers or past drivers will tell you is that trying to just show up to the track and spectate a race can be challenging or even unappealing “It’s pretty weird going to the racetrack and not racing,” stated Lane. However, the lessons and information could help down the road as the 3 time winner, in 2024, looks for more success in the coming weeks to close out the season.

The upcoming schedule for Lane features a trip to BAPS Motor Speedway on October 12th. A little road trip follows the next weekend as Eldora is on the schedule for the Dirt Track World Championship. The final weekend of the season will take place at Path Valley with a doubleheader weekend of October 25th-26th. That, for now, will close out the sophomore season for the team.

Pair of Wins Highlight August for Lane Snook

Mifflintown, PA – September 9, 2024

by Derick Kriner / Addicted2Dirt PR & Media Mgmt

Photo Credit:  Tim Basehore / WRT Speedwerx

As the last month of summer break appeared on the calendar, Lane Snook and team had a busy month ahead of them. After the last few months of impressive runs and finishes, and August featuring some big shows, anticipation was high for the young 16-year-old driver.

The month started off with an appearance at the Path Valley Speedway on August 10th. The fifth starting spot would be where the 23 car would roll off from. A few missteps landed the Mifflintown racer back in the 9th position, partway through the feature. However, the high side of the speedway was inviting to Snook, and he took to it, passing back the positions lost, and then some. Lane was able to stand on the podium box, scoring a 3rd place finish.

A week later at the BAPS Motor Speedway, the top step on the podium would be his. A strong heat set the young racer up for a front-row starting spot. Around the halfway mark of the feature, “we were able to pass for the lead” and win a second Limited Late Model event of the season.

Big money was on the line the following Friday, as the rained-out Zimmerman Tribute race was run alongside the Lucas Oil Late Model program, at Port Royal Speedway. A promising start to the night with a strong 2nd place effort in their qualifying group, put them on the pole of a heat race. Bad luck befell the 23 team, as they had “a left rear blow off the bead racing for second.” Luckily, the good time in qualifying allowed them to start on the pole of the B-Main, and Lane was able to win that event. Passing was at a premium in feature, as Snook advanced a few spots, going from 21st-18th.

Switching gears back to short tracks, the now 2-time winner, would break through once more and pick up his third feature win of the season at the Path Valley Speedway. Lane was able to grab the lead, almost right away, and “drove off to the win.” Snook stated that “the confidence is pretty high, especially on the short tracks.” Evidence being that all three of his triumphs this season have come on smaller tracks. Lane also stated there has been “less pressure” when talking about getting more wins, after scoring his first a few months prior.

To round out the month, another small track was on the card, as the team went to Clinton County. The handicap style invert to the feature lineup, put Lane starting 7th. At the end of the feature, another podium finish was added to the resume of the 2nd-year Limited driver, scoring a 3rd place result.

Rain pushed what would have been the final event on the team’s August schedule to a later date, as the Renninger Memorial got moved to a part of Monday’s Labor Day Classic at Port Royal.

As the season starts to wind down, the team and Lane now stand at three wins. “I just wanted to win at least 1 race this year.” While most wins and podium finishes have happened at smaller tracks, “we are finding more speed on the big tracks” said Snook. This is an area the young racer looks to improve upon in the remainder of the season.

The month of September features a few races for the Mifflintown-based team. BAPS is up next for the team on September 14th. The rest of the month is still up in the air, but the team does plan to race a few more times before the month is out. The hope is for August’s momentum to carry into a few strong closing months of the season.

Summer Speed: Picking Up Pace & Podiums

Mifflintown, PA – July 30, 2024

by Derick Kriner / Addicted2Dirt PR & Media Mgmt

As the temperature continued to rise and make for hot days and nights in July, Lane Snook also started to rise in performance. After scoring several strong runs in May and June, including a win, July proved to be no different.

While not all results saw the 23 car in a podium spot, speed was evident. To start off the month, a make-up feature was on tap at BAPS. Podium one of the month found the young 16-year old driver, as Lane charged from 8th to 3rd position. Being an addition to the regular show, this meant the team would have to prepare for another feature that evening. Rolling off 9th in the regular feature, misfortune found the 23 car. “Had a car spin in front of us and I had to spin to avoid.” Not what you want to happen, but the aforementioned gains in speed showed. “We went to the rear and made our way back up to 10th.” Good speed shown, with two top 10’s to kick off the month.

The next weekend found the team traveling to Selinsgrove, where speed seemed to be produced right out of the box for the Mifflintown native. Going to the top of the speed chart on his first lap of time trials, again proved the speed found. However, lap two ended the night, with a blown motor. The team was understandably bummed, but with the small track car loaded up, the team went to Path Valley the following week and didn’t appear to have missed a beat.

“Started 3rd in the heat and finished 4th. That put us starting 7th in the feature and made our way to 2nd.” Even after a slight misstep on the cushion set him back to 3rd late, Lane was able to power back around and grab the 2nd spot on the final circuit.

Closing out the month of July at BAPS brought the team back to the site of Snook’s first win. Winning speed was there and Lane advanced from 9th-2nd in the feature event. “The car kept getting better as the race went on,” stated the young late model pilot. “I think the more laps I’ve run, that we’ve found some stuff that I like with the setup on the car. I’ve definitely got more comfortable as the year has went on and we are putting some good runs together.” All of this while having to navigate different types of tracks and surfaces.

The ¼ mile tracks like Path Valley are definitely fun and elbows up,” said Snook. “½ miles are aero dependent and that can make them hard to race on,” identifying a key challenge of the bigger speedways like Port Royal and Selinsgrove. “If they widen out, they can race good.”

As evident with his performances there this year, Lane highlighted ⅜ mile tracks, like BAPS as “about the perfect size for a racetrack. The last couple times we’ve been there, it’s been good racing and fun to race on.”

August will be no different in the variety of facilities the 23 team looks to head to. Port Royal will kick off the month on August 3rd, followed by Path Valley on the 10th. BAPS Motor Speedway success will hopefully continue as the limited late models are on the card August 17th. A double header weekend featuring Port Royal and Selinsgrove is on the calendar for the 23rd and 24th, before rounding out the month at Port Royal for the start of the Juniata County Fair.

A month racing in the heat and on different size speedways, not only showed the teams ability to compete on a regular basis, but also proved the progress made by a young racer. Three podiums and a top-10, helped the confidence of the 16-year old driver, and will hopefully continue as August features a similar schedule to that of the successful July.

The Snook family and Lane, would again like to thank all of their amazing partners and sponsors for keeping the team on track and performing at a consistently strong level.

Starting Summer with Success: 1st Career Limited Win Highlights Month of June for Snook

Mifflintown, PA – June 30, 2024

by Derick Kriner / Addicted2Dirt PR & Media Mgmt

After a strong end to the month of May, Lane Snook and team were poised to make June a strong month. It didn’t take long for the speed of the months prior to translate into a front running performance.

June 1st featured the Limited Late Models competing at the BAPS Motor Speedway in a dual feature program. In the make-up feature, Snook and the 23 team showed tremendous speed, making a run from 23rd to the 2nd position. A strong run in the regular program’s heat (6th-1st) put the 16 year-old in a good position for the feature. At the end of the caution-filled race, Snook stood victorious on the front stretch, scoring his first career win in the Limited Late Model division.

“It was definitely cool to get my first win in a late model. It’s something that definitely helps build confidence in a sport that can destroy your confidence with a few bad runs.” Getting this first win seemed to have eased the young Mifflintown racer. “I’m glad it’s over with and hopefully it won’t be as stressful running up front.” Running up front would be something the 23 car would do in their next race at Port Royal.

With a 2nd place finish in his heat and a 2nd place starting position, put the pressure on once again. After running the first half of the race in 2nd, Lane slid back slightly after a restart, still garnering a 6th place run on a slick Port Royal. “I made some gains learning a slick racetrack and it ended up a good night.”

Taking the next week off to recuperate from illness, the team “thrashed to get the other car ready and decided to go to BAPS” after Selinsgrove canceled their double feature night. Another heat win showed promise for a good night, but the track unfortunately ran into a curfew issue right before the late model feature and will now have to make up the show. Lane will roll off 8th.

With the Blue Collar Classic being canceled due to expected rain, Snook and team will have a week off to get ready for the makeup feature, plus a full regular show, at BAPS on July 6th. Lane and family will also have some time to enjoy the holiday and hopefully enjoy some good family time and food. Nothing says summertime, quite like getting to enjoy a picnic. “I would say BBQ ribs would probably be my favorite 4th of July picnic food.” And as summer progresses, the young-racer also likes to enjoy some things outside of racing, like going to the beach when time allows. Lane enjoys “riding waves on the boogie boards with friends” on vacations.

Summer vacation will be filled with more racing for the late model team, as a potential five features outline their plans. July 6th will be at the aforementioned BAPS double program. Then the team plans to head to Port Royal the following week. A small track takes the team out of the regular ⅜ & ½ mile routine, as they take on Path Valley, which hosted the World of Outlaws series earlier in the year. Snook plans to end the month out with BAPS.

All of this again wouldn’t be possible without all their great sponsors. Many thanks go out to all the individuals and families that help keep the dream alive and the 23 on the track and hopefully in victory lane more frequently.

Austin Berry entered Appalachian Mountain Speedweek aiming to improve on his 11th-place finish in the 2023 series standings.  He and his team put in a lot of work during the offseason to freshen their equipment and improve their motor program to take the next step in their progression.

Berry got a late start on his 2024 campaign after parts delays kept the team’s engine on the sidelines longer than expected.  As a result, he entered Speedweek with only three races under his belt.  In those three starts, he showed speed but had mixed results.

THE OPENING PAIR

Berry kicked off the series Friday night with a return to the scene of his best run in last year’s edition.  He posted a podium finish in the 2023 event at Clinton County Speedway in Mill Hall, PA, and was looking to get a strong start again this year.

Although he didn’t come out of the gate with a qualifying run that put him in the dash like the previous year, his 12th-quickest lap was good enough to put him in contention.  He started 5th in his heat race but couldn’t climb into a top-three transfer spot.

From inside row two in the B-main, Berry grabbed the runner-up spot at the drop of the green, then took command of the race at the halfway mark of the 10-lap affair.  The win put the Mifflin, PA native 19th on the A-main grid, which he converted into a 15th-place finish.

“We weren’t bad tonight but we were fighting a right front brake issue all night.  The caliper was hanging up and that was definitely limiting my options behind the wheel.”, Berry shared.

Saturday night the series rolled into Port Royal Speedway, Berry’s home track.  With a large, high-quality field of 45 cars on hand, he turned in the 7th-best lap in Group B qualifying, which put him on the front row of his heat race.

Berry transferred through his heat with a 3rd place finish but couldn’t mount any forward charge in the feature, officially finishing 19th in the 35-lap main event.

“We weren’t very good tonight.  We looked better than we were early on.  I think our experience here (at Port Royal) helped us qualify well and get through the heat.”, Berry commented.

NEW HOPE

Night three at Hagerstown Speedway in Maryland on Sunday was a night Berry was just as soon forget.  Rather than serving as a turning point, it only elevated the level of frustration in the ABR camp.

“Not a lot I can say about tonight.  The car was bad and so was the driver.”, Berry said.

After qualifying 14th in his group, finishing 7th in his heat, and not transferring through the B-main, Berry and his team loaded up and headed home right away to get started on going over the car and preparing for Path Valley Speedway Park on Tuesday.  The day off on Monday would give them an opportunity to regroup.

When the team unloaded for Tuesday’s show, quite a few changes had been made to the Tuscarora Restoration, Juniata Veterinary Clinic, Berry’s Siding & Seamless Gutter, SRI Performance / Stock Car Steel & Aluminum, VP Racing Fuels, Carquest of State College No.86.

After posting good lap times in hot laps, Berry’s qualifying run came up short of expectations when he landed 12th in the rundown for group A.

“I was really confused when the car got really tight in qualifying because it was good in hot laps and we had not changed anything.  When I got back to our pit we discovered the right rear tire was almost completely flat.  I ran over something in staging and cut the sidewall just before I started my time trial run.”, Berry explained.

From outside row two in his heat, Berry got into the 3rd and final transfer spot at the drop of the green and held it to the halfway point, but late in the race slipped to 4th and was relegated to the B-main.

Berry started on the pole of the 10-lap B-main and never looked back, winning over Drake Troutman and Kyle Hardy to put his Rocket Chassis in the show.

After starting 19th in the 35-lap feature, Berry slipped back as far as 21st before rebounding and charging forward to 14th on lap nine.  The second half of the race was more of a struggle when the right front brake issue surfaced again.  He finished 17th.

“After Hagerstown, we went over everything, talked with the folks at Rocket Chassis and with Jim at JDS Racing.  We determined some of the changes we made over the offseason were working against us, so we put some of those things back to how they were last year.”, Berry shared.

“It helped.  We were a lot better at Path Valley.  Only racing three times before Speedweek has hurt us.  If we had raced more we would have figured these things out sooner.”

“We have made tremendous gains in the handful of races we have run.  We expected to be better, but the good news is we know what our issues have been and we can work on them to get to where we should be.”

Berry has the equipment to do the job.  Facing tough fields with limited laps this year is part of the reality of the challenge they face, but they are battling through that.

“I want to give a shout-out to Tom Barron and Barron’s Racing Engines.  It’s no secret that our powerplants have been a pain point for us in recent years, sidelining us with a series of issues, so after last season we started working with Tom.  He has got our engine program on the right track.  We appreciate that, especially after what we have gone through the past few years.”, Berry said.

“We are hitting the reset as we head to Selinsgrove to start the second half of Speedweek.  It’s one of my better tracks, so it will be a good gauge of where we are.  We are looking to get some confidence back.”

UP NEXT

Four races remain on the Appalachian Mountain Speedweek schedule and Berry intends to enter all of them.  Thursday night the series will roll into Selinsgrove Speedway, then move on to Bedford Speedway, Lincoln Speedway and BAPS Motor Speedway on the next three nights, closing out the series on Sunday night June 16th.

Berry Strives for Rhythm as Appalachian Mountain Speedweek Nears

Port Royal, PA – June 4, 2024

The calendar turned to June on Saturday yet for Austin Berry it still felt like the beginning of the 2024 season.  His season started late due to parts delays and there was a mix of good and bad news on his first two race nights.

Appalachian Mountain Speedweek was fast approaching and Berry needed to find a rhythm and find it quick.

QUICK RESULTS

DATE:  June 1, 2024

  • Track:  Port Royal Speedway
  • City, State:   Port Royal, PA
  • Stats:  34 cars, Heat 2nd (2), A-main 14th (12)

A COMPLETE NIGHT

Berry’s pill draw Saturday night put him on the outside front row for his heat race and he took full advantage early on, jumping out to a five-car-length lead by the end of lap one.

Berry endured three restarts before two laps could be completed.  Each caution erased a comfortable lead and bunched the field.  Meanwhile 8th-starting Rick Eckert had a good car as well and was cashing in on the restarts.  He took the lead away before the halfway point and Berry settled for a runner-up finish.

The 25-lap main event saw Berry take the green from outside row six.  He found himself in a heated battle with Gregg Satterlee, Shaun Jones, and others for the majority of the event.

Berry ran 11th in the middle segment of the finale but could not quite crack the top ten.  He eventually closed out the night in 14th.

“I’m happy to get a full night in.  Our season started late, we had troubles the first night out, then we started good at Bridgeport but couldn’t close out the night.”, Berry commented.  “I’m glad we got this run under our belt before we take on Speedweek.”

“It’s not easy here.  The competition is deep.  You have to really be on to move forward here.  No excuses.  We weren’t good enough tonight but our car was good.  It was all about track position and dirty air.  I feel like we were good enough to run near the front if we had started up there.”

UP NEXT

Berry will tackle the entire 8-race slate of Appalachian Mountain Speedweek for super late models beginning this Friday night, June 7th.  The full schedule can be found at AustinBerryRacing.com!

Berry Sets Quick Time, Dominates Heat Race at Bridgeport Before Setback

Swedesboro, NJ – May 31, 2024

by Addicted2Dirt PR & Media Mgmt

Original Photo Credit:  Bridgeport Motorsports Park

Austin Berry has waited, patiently, for the most part, to hit the track in 2024.  Delays in receiving motor parts and weather have left him unable to satisfy his appetite for speed.

His season debut at Port Royal Speedway a couple of weeks ago didn’t go well.  A series of nuisance issues kept him from being a factor that night.

Knowing he won’t be racing for points at his home track after missing several events, Berry has stepped back and looked at his schedule options.  He is trying to take lemons and make lemonade by rethinking his schedule and giving himself and his team a chance to grow and improve.

How does a racer accomplish that?  They get out of their comfort zone.  They race new tracks and challenge themselves.  Berry will still see plenty of laps at Port Royal Speedway this year but Sunday he took the first step in deploying a new approach by making the three-hour tow to Bridgeport Motorsports Park for their invitational super late model race.

QUICK RESULTS

  • City, State:   Swedesboro, NJ
  • Stats:  19 cars, Qualifying 1st, Heat 1st (1), A-main DNF/18th (6)

ON THE CUSP

Berry was one of nineteen drivers to accept the invite to compete Sunday evening at the high-banked 4-tenths mile oval not far across the river from Philadelphia International Airport.

He wasted no time making sure fans took notice.  With names like Covert, Eckert, Frye, Bernheisel, and Yoder in the field, Berry topped them all in qualifying with a blistering lap of 15.460 seconds, nearly two-tenths better than his closest competitor.

It was an impressive effort, especially when you consider Berry has never seen the facility before.  He spent weeks doing homework though.  He watched videos and looked for information about tire wear, doing his best to prepare his equipment and team for the venture.  He clearly passed the initial test.

Berry earned the pole for his 8-lap heat race.  There was never a question.  He drove away from the field and took the checkered flag 1.4 seconds ahead of second place.

The six-car redraw dealt Berry his first minor setback.  He pulled number six.

Berry took the green from outside row three, feeling confident he had plenty to get him to the front over the course of the 40 scheduled laps.  Unfortunately very early on he had lost power steering, which was compounded by a water pump issue that led to overheating, forcing him to the sidelines just a few laps into the main event.  Officially he was recorded as finishing 18th.

“First off, I want to give a huge shout-out to Chris Spotts Welding & Repair for the $300 Quick Time Award.  That’s money that makes a difference, especially for a team like ours.  Just getting here with gas, tolls, tires, and race fuel is expensive, so we needed to make some money.  We really appreciate what Chris did.”, Berry said.

“We didn’t get the finish we deserved but honestly we are all leaving here smiling.  We were fast even though we had never seen this joint before.  That gives us a lot of confidence in what we are doing.  That’s big.  We will carry this into Port Royal next weekend.”

UP NEXT

Berry will return to Port Royal Speedway this Saturday night, June 1st, aiming to erase the disappointment of his debut there a few weeks ago.

ABR Gets Support from Carquest and Fragola, Plus SRI and VP Increase Involvement for 2024

Mifflin, PA – March 21, 2024

by Addicted2Dirt PR & Media Mgmt

Original Photo Credit:  Chris Hockley/WRT Speedwerx

Austin Berry continues to gain support for his growing super late model program.

Those with a love and passion to succeed in the sport have a tougher job than ever before.  Modern dirt track racing requires more funds and more knowledge than ever before.  Teams spend a lot of time and effort working to acquire both of those resources to give themselves a chance at success.

Berry’s efforts on that front have been paying off.  Four more businesses have come on board for the 2024 season.

NEW MEMBERS OF THE FAMILY

Austin Berry Racing is thrilled to announce the addition of four new partners to its dirt super late model team. Carquest of State College, Fragola Performance Systems, Auto Glass Centre, and Dye It Rite have joined forces with Austin Berry Racing for the upcoming racing season.

“We are excited to welcome Carquest of State College, Fragola Performance Systems, Auto Glass Centre, and Dye It Rite to our team,” said driver Austin Berry. “Their support and partnership will be invaluable as we strive for consistent success at the track this season.”

Carquest of State College offers a wide range of automotive parts and accessories, while Fragola Performance Systems specializes in high-performance plumbing components. Auto Glass Centre provides expert auto glass repair and replacement services, and Dye It Rite offers professional vehicle customization solutions.

“We are proud to support Austin Berry Racing and look forward to seeing their continued success on the track,” said a representative from Carquest of State College.

INCREASED INVOLVEMENT

Berry is also pleased to announce that supporters SRI Performance and VP Racing Fuels, who have been with him the past few seasons, have increased their involvement for the 2024 racing season.

“We are grateful for the continued support of SRI Performance and VP Racing Fuels,” said Berry. “Their increased commitment shows they believe in what we are doing on and off the track.  Their added support will be instrumental in our pursuit of success on the track this season.”

SRI Performance is a leading supplier of high-performance racing parts, components, and accessories, while VP Racing Fuels is a renowned provider of racing fuels and lubricants.

“It’s always exciting to form partnerships with race teams across the country!  Meeting new teams gives us the ability to network and collaborate outside of our home area of Mooresville, NC.”, said Randy Keene, technical sales motorsports engineer/marketing for SRI Performance.

“We look forward to working with the very talented Austin Berry and his entire Austin Berry Racing team!  As we continue to grow our brand and name through this partnership, we also hope to open doors for Austin to procure other sponsorship and relationship opportunities along the way!  Best of luck, Austin, from all of your partners at SRI Performance, Stock Car Steel and Aluminum, SRI Used Parts, and SRI Indy!”

In addition, Juniata Veterinary Clinic, Berry’s Siding and Seamless Gutters, and Nathan Berry Beef Farm are all returning as marketing partners, along with numerous product sponsors.

More information will be released in the near future about Berry’s plans for the 2024 season.  Follow Addicted2DirtPR on all social media platforms and all of Austin Berry Racing’s social media outlets to be sure to get that information as soon as it is available!

Tuscarora Restoration Teams With ABR for 2024 Slate

Mifflin, PA – February 29, 2024

by Addicted2Dirt PR & Media Mgmt

Original Photo Credit:  Chris Hockley/WRT Speedwerx

Austin Berry Racing is proud to announce a new partnership with local business Tuscarora Restoration for their upcoming 2024 super late model season.

The Thompsontown, PA-based construction business has been serving the needs of the local community since 2020 and has continued to establish itself as a top choice for quality work.

SUPPORT THOSE WHO SUPPORT RACING

Tyler Amtower, owner of Tuscarora Restoration, recently added Polyaspartic Floor Coating Systems to his wide array of contracting services, which already includes Vinyl Siding, Roofing, Pressure Washing, Decks, Remodeling, Interior & Exterior Painting, and more.

Amtower began considering options for how to promote his new offerings and his business as a whole.  That’s when he approached Austin Berry to inquire about the possibility of a partnership that would benefit both his business and Berry’s race team.

“We have advertised in the traditional ways in the past and those are helpful, but we noticed the effort Austin puts into his team and into promoting his supporters.  We have known him, his dad (Ken Berry) and his family for several years.  We like their character and how their operation is a team effort.”, Amtower said.

We want to connect with the racing community because we are race fans too and the people we see at the track every week are the people we would love to help with their construction needs.  Austin and his team have a consistent presence on social media and they do a great job representing everyone involved with their team, so we approached them to see what we could work out.”

“We are excited to be a part of ABR this season.  We are confident Austin and everyone on his team will represent us well.  His team will make sure fans learn about Tuscarora Restoration and everything we have to offer.”

LOCAL SUPPORTS LOCAL

Much like Tuscarora Restoration, Austin Berry has been growing his race team in recent years.  He has inched closer and closer to his goal of being a weekly top-five competitor, continually searching for the resources to achieve that.

“It means a lot to us when a local business believes in what we are doing and wants to be involved.  We are a family team built on family values.  We work hard to do this and we earn everything we achieve.  Local businesses like Tyler’s Tuscarora Restoration are built the same way.”, Berry said.

“We will work hard for and with Tyler to make sure he gets great value for what he is doing for our team.  We can both achieve our goals if we take care of our partners.”

ABOUT TUSCARORA RESTORATIONS

Tuscarora Restoration services all of Central Pennsylvania.  We are here to help you with all your construction needs. This includes Vinyl Siding, Roofing, Pressure Washing, Decks, Remodel, Interior Exterior Painting, etc.

Inside Austin Berry’s Dynamic Offseason: From Indiana to West Virginia to Pennsylvania

Countdown to ABR’s 2024 Season Kickoff: Dec. 31st is Last Call for Discounted Tickets!

Mifflin, PA – December 29, 2023

by Addicted2Dirt PR & Media Mgmt

Fans might think that race teams are sitting at home on their couch over the winter, waiting for Spring to approach so they can dust off their race car and get ready to sling dirt again.

That is certainly not the case.  Most teams would tell you they work harder during the offseason.  It’s probably at least fair to say they work just as hard but have a lot less fun since they don’t get to race.  From October through February in Pennsylvania, you will find teams in the race shop tearing their car down, ordering parts, and going over every detail.

There is a lot of planning and effort involved to bring all of that together into a race-ready team by the time March rolls around.

LIVE MUSIC, FOOD AND GAMES

There are just a couple of days remaining to pick up your discounted tickets for the Austin Berry Racing 2024 Season Kickoff Party.  Tickets are just $25 through December 31, 2023, before the price goes up!

As a way to spend time with fans and get to know them while having a good time and raising money for the race team, Austin Berry looks forward to the team’s annual event.

“This event gives us a chance to hang out with our fans, partners, friends, and family in a way we don’t get to otherwise.  It’s great to make a real connection with everyone and thank them for their support.  At the track we are always busy and don’t have time for much more than a quick hello.”, Berry said.

The party will be held on January 27, 2024, at the Port Royal Speedway commercial building.  Doors will open at 4pm with a BBQ Chicken dinner served at 5pm.  At 7pm Chris Woodward and Shindiggin’ will take the stage to provide live music for fans to kick up their heels and tap their toes to.  Throughout the evening there will be cash giveaway drawings, which fans are automatically entered in just for buying a ticket to the event.  There will also be 50/50 drawings, basket raffles, and other games.

From January 1st-26th, tickets will be priced at $30 and, if available, will be $35 at the door the day of the event.

The day kicks off with a cornhole tournament from 11am-3pm.  The competition is limited to 40 teams and guarantees cash prizes of $300, $160, $80, and $40 for the top four teams.  Teams must preregister for $40/team to compete.  This is a separate event from the evening dinner and live music ticket.

Along with preparing for their annual night celebrating with fans, the team is a lot busier than you may think during the offseason.

GETTING THE SHIP IN ORDER

Berry’s offseason got started even earlier than hoped when his motor failed in late August.  The team pulled the motor and delivered it for repairs to be made.

After wrapping up the season by competing in three limited late model events with a borrowed motor, Berry and his team began the process of tearing the car down to the bare frame.  Every component is evaluated and replacements are ordered as needed.

Berry also invests time in keeping up with the latest product innovations and improvements that could better the team’s program.

Most recently, the team made the trip to the home of Rocket Chassis in West Virginia to have their frame gone over to make sure there were no lingering effects from a mid-summer incident at Hagerstown Speedway.  The bad news is the crew at Rocket found the front end needed a little more attention than Berry had hoped, but the good news is it has been addressed.

PARTNERSHIPS ARE KEY

In early December, as they do every year, Berry and his team traveled to Indianapolis, Indiana for the Performance Racing Industry (PRI) trade show.  The largest racing trade show in North America provides Berry with the opportunity to say thank you to current partners, discuss potential improvements for the upcoming season, learn about new products, and initiate new relationships, all under one roof in the span of a couple of days.

Berry’s partners will return to support the team in 2024, with one exception.  Berry’s Siding & Seamless Gutter, Juniata Veterinary Clinic, SRI Performance, VP Racing Fuels, JDS Racing, Locust Hill Custom Butcher Shop, Nathan Berry Beef Farm, GO Lithium, Valvoline Pro-V Racing, and numerous other product sponsors will return.

The Tire Mart Tire Pros of Harrisburg, who has been with ABR for the last few years, will step away from its racing endeavors in 2024 to focus on growth opportunities but hopes to return to the team in 2025.

Austin Berry Racing wishes Greg and everyone at The Tire Mart the best with their 2024 plans.

“I can’t thank Greg enough for what he’s done for this team.  I mean it sincerely.  His belief in us helped move our program forward.  We fully understand his situation for the upcoming season and hope to work with him again.” Austin Berry said.

Berry is seeking new partnerships for the upcoming season.  Opportunities to join the team exist at a variety of levels that will allow a business to get good value for their investment.  The team is extremely active on social media and leverages Addicted2Dirt PR and Media Management to reach a broad audience for their marketing partners.

FUELED FOR VICTORY

ABR has established a new relationship for 2024 with Victory Fuel, a popular and tasty alternative to sugary drinks.

Victory Fuel is not an energy drink.  It is a flavored electrolyte water.  It’s a healthy alternative made by combining triple-filtered water, electrolytes, daily vitamins, natural sweeteners, and natural flavors.  There’s no artificial junk, no caffeine, and no carbonation.

Visit DrinkVictory.com to try the original Throttle Punch or the new Lucky Lemon!  Fans can support Austin Berry Racing and save 10% on a purchase of Victory Fuel by using discount code “BERRY86” at checkout.

THE HOMESTRETCH

As the calendar flips to 2024, Berry and his team will bring all of their offseason activities together to produce a race-ready car by the end of February.

All of the parts and new sheet metal will arrive at the shop and assembly will commence.  The motor will return, be installed, and fired.

Finally, the wrap carrying all their partner logos will be applied.

Before you know it, the No.86 will be turning left and getting dirty again.  The team’s tentative schedule will be released in the coming weeks, so stay tuned to the team’s social media outlets for updates.
