What started as a season built around a limited schedule has turned into one of the most impressive stretches of Tony Jackson and Scott Hess Racing’s time together.
Jackson added another marquee victory to his résumé over the weekend, wheeling the Scott Hess Racing machine to victory in the annual Sportsman 100 at BAPS Motor Speedway, capturing one of the biggest events on the Winged Sportsman calendar.
The triumph marked Jackson’s second career victory in the Sportsman 100 and the third overall Sportsman 100 victory for Scott Hess Racing, adding another chapter to the team’s history in the prestigious event.
“It’s tough to put it into words, but it was just an emotional win,” said Jackson. “I’m not sure if it was because I wasn’t really supposed to be running it or if it was because I had to pass the 30 car to get it, but this one meant more than the first and was just so special.”
As impressive as Saturday’s victory was, Jackson and the team weren’t finished.
Returning to action the following night, Jackson picked up yet another victory — this time in Wingless Sportsman competition — extending an incredible streak to nine consecutive victories.
It’s a stretch that few could have predicted entering 2026.
The original plan was for Jackson to compete on a limited basis throughout the season, picking and choosing races while continuing his longtime partnership with Hess Racing. Instead, the opportunities they have taken advantage of have produced one of the hottest stretches of Jackson’s career.
“You know, Selinsgrove was almost tough to get ready to go race as mentally and physically; I just put it all out there to try and win the 100 lapper,” said Jackson.
“You work so hard for these big races that once you do it you almost want to just kind of take a breather and soak it in. But we went back and got ourselves another win, and it just shows how fast we are right now.”
The Sportsman 100 victory also continues Jackson and Hess Racing’s success in some of the division’s biggest events. With Jackson now a two-time winner and Hess Racing owning three victories in the legendary 100-lap staple, the team continues to cement its place among the most successful combinations in Sportsman competition.
More importantly, the latest weekend showed no signs that the team’s remarkable run is slowing down.
What was supposed to be a limited 2026 campaign has instead become a season to remember, with Jackson and Scott Hess Racing continuing to collect victories every time they roll through the pit gate.
“It’s pretty cool when you have a bullseye on your back, and everyone is gunning for you,” said Jackson.
“This sport takes skill, but it also takes luck. You can be the best car all night, and something ruins your night. So to be on a run like we are, it’s just really unbelievable and special.”
With the biggest portion of the Sportsman season underway and the 2026 calendar beginning to wind toward its conclusion, Jackson and Scott Hess Racing aren’t content to simply celebrate what they’ve already accomplished.
They plan to compete in one more show before the year is over with a winged event at BAPS Motor Speedway during the Kevin Gobrecht Classic on Sept. 19.
“It’s one of those years where you don’t want it to end, but seeing as I’ve raced more than I planned, I’m ready for a break,” he said.
“I’m excited to watch my son play football and get out to our cabin and kind of get back to normal. 10 in a row would be a nice number to end the year on.”
