Rough Return to the Grove for Cappetta

Ashley Cappetta and the Gettysburg Trading Post, Mike’s Towing and Recovery, Yesteryear Antique Center, Stoner’s Auction, O’Brien’s Fuel and Service, Iron Horse Trains, Republican Club of Hanover No. 89 were back in action twice this weekend racing at both Williams Grove and Lincoln.

Cappetta and the team made their return to Williams Grove Speedway on Friday night after last racing at the famous paper clip in 2021. For once Cappetta was not disappointed with a high pill draw, “Since I hadn’t been there in a while, I was comfortable starting in the back.” Hitting the track for the first time in two years, Ashley felt comfortable in warm ups and then in the heat race the struggles started, “I was struggling in the corners finding my comfort spot. The Grove is demanding and if you don’t race there enough, you’re going to struggle.” Unfortunately, Cappetta’s feature was cut short when she got tangled up with a spinning car.

Cappetta’s 11th Place Finish is Best of Season

Cappetta finally had the opportunity to start up front in her heat race with a decent pill draw to kick things off on Saturday night at Lincoln. Ashley finished the heat race fifth, making the feature. Cappetta and the team went to work on the car and made some adjustments, “We made some adjustments after learning from the heat race and that seemed to help.” Ashley had a good start that unfortunately got called back, “I wish the initial start would have stuck. I had passed two or three cars.” Once the field lined up for the restart Cappetta went to work and eventually moved off the bottom to get around a car taking her out of her comfort zone. Saturday’s finish of 11th is Cappetta’s best finish of the season so far.

Solid Saturday Night Helped Boost Confidence

After struggling at the Grove on Friday night, putting together a night at Lincoln on Saturday which resulted in Ashley’s best finish of the season was just what the doctor ordered, “Saturday night’s feature helped bring my confidence back.” Not having put together a two-race weekend in over two years it was definitely not an easy feat for Cappetta and the team, “I give drivers credit that race multiple times a week on a regular basis, it is demanding and exhausting.” Moving forward the team has decided to focus on Lincoln for the rest of the year.

Stay tuned to Cappetta’s social media accounts, as well as Addicted2DirtPR.com/Events for the most up to date schedule information.

Hartlaub Pulls Double Duty, Logs Three Races in 24 Hours

Grove 358 Summer Series and Lincoln 410 Outing On This Week’s Docket

Abbottstown, PA – August 3, 2023

If you haven’t noticed, Kody Hartlaub has not only been building the depth of his program and his equipment, but he has also been taking every opportunity to add to his experience in the seat.

As last weekend approached, he was at it again.

Hartlaub turned his two race weekend into three by doing double duty at Williams Grove Speedway on Friday night.  He entered both his 358 and 410 sprint cars into competition at the famed oval.

  • Division:  410 Sprint Cars
  • Date:  July 28, 2023
  • Track:  Williams Grove Speedway
  • City, State:   Mechanicsburg, PA
  • Quick Stats:  23 cars, Qualifying 5th in Group 3, Heat 4th (5), A-main 14th (12)

  • Division:  358 Sprint Cars
  • Event:  358 Summer Series
  • Date:  July 28, 2023
  • Track:  Williams Grove Speedway
  • City, State:   Mechanicsburg, PA
  • Quick Stats:  25 cars, Heat 3rd (7), A-main 2nd (7)

  • Division:  358 Sprint Cars
  • Date:  July 29, 2023
  • Track:  Lincoln Speedway
  • City, State:   Abbottstown, PA
  • Quick Stats:  28 cars, Heat 2nd (8), A-main 6th (9)

Spring Backwards?

With less than a full field of 410 sprint cars signed in Friday night at Williams Grove Speedway, Hartlaub’s decision to enter competition that night was a smart one.  It provided guaranteed track time without the pressure to make the show.

His night got off to a good start by going forward in his heat race from his 5th starting spot to a 4th place finish.

Hartlaub appeared ready to score his first career top ten in a 410 sprint car in the 25-lap A-main.  From his starting spot outside the sixth row, he surged into the top ten on the opening lap and raced his way up to 8th by lap five.

Things got a little more difficult after a caution near the midpoint of the race.  The throttle spring on Hartlaub’s car broke, meaning the gas pedal would not come back up on its own when he lifted his foot.  The East Berlin, PA driver was forced to manually lift the pedal with his foot each time.  It was enough to suppress how aggressive he could be, and it relegated him to a 14th place finish.

We decided to bring the 410 up tonight along with the 358 to get me more laps in that division. Like I said earlier this year, we are just taking every 410 start we make and trying to learn as much as we can each time I hit the track. It was awesome racing side by side with Danny for a few laps until the spring broke. But sometimes that’s just racing no matter how much preventative maintenance you do.”, Hartlaub shared.

Duking It Out

The 358 sprint car portion of Friday’s program brought 25 teams to compete.  Heat lineups for the Summer Series event were set by pill draw, with the top four finishers going to the redraw.

Hartlaub started 7th in the final heat race in the J Fuels, Brewer Home Improvements, Moose Blocks, Smith Titanium, SRR Engines, Siegel Racing, T&N Solutions, Inch & Co. Real Estate, Bigham Appraisals, Pretzel Boy, HAAS Shocks, Chop Designs, Herr Electric, Hartlaub’s Furniture, Kody Hartlaub Racing No.95 and he wasted no time, charging into 3rd on the opening lap.  He held that spot to lock himself into the redraw.

The A-main redraw dealt Hartlaub the same hand as the earlier draw, a 7th starting spot.  At the drop of the green, he got shuffled back to 9th in traffic, but he was able to recover the track position within the next two circuits.

Hartlaub clearly had a good car and when he found his rhythm, the march to the front began.  He cracked the top five on lap nine and reached 3rd on lap thirteen with a calculated but aggressive drive.

When Hartlaub moved into the runner-up spot, he was a full straightaway behind leader Zach Newlin, but he immediately began to visibly close the gap.  In traffic with only four laps remaining, he dover under Newlin in turn one to claim the lead.

Newlin battled back to reclaim the lead in turn four and the pair waged a wheel to wheel battle, duking it out through traffic over the remaining circuits.  Hartlaub came up just short and crossed under the checkered flag in 2nd.

“Once again, I feel like we had the car to beat tonight in the 358. Driving from the 7th starting spot to running the leader down from that far back just shows how great of a piece my team gives me each and every week. I would have loved to get our new partners with J Fuels in victory lane on our debut night with their logo on the car, but I just made one too many mistakes once I passed Zach and left him the opportunity to get me back. I can’t wait to get our first win at Williams Grove being such a historic track. “, Hartlaub commented.

Hartlaub now sits 2nd in the 358 sprint car season championship point standings at Williams Grove Speedway, just 50 points behind leader Derek Locke.

Back For More at Lincoln

Saturday night brought Hartlaub back to his home track, Lincoln Speedway, where he sits atop the 2023 season championship 358 sprint car point standings with two victories to his credit and a 110 point advantage over Steve Owings.

Hartlaub kicked off his night with a strong early run, coming from 8th to claim a runner-up finish in his heat race.  His effort gave him a handicapped starting spot of 9th for the A-main.

Although he wasn’t able to climb into the top five by the conclusion of the 20-lap feature, Hartlaub did achieve a 6th place finish and he was able to finish in front of his closest pursuers in the season championship standings.

Lincoln was just another solid night for our team. Unfortunately, you can’t win them all but when you can’t, we just go out and get all we can and tonight that just was a 6th place run. From where we started 2 years ago to where we are now, I can’t ask for anything more. I think about that a lot, I’m just thankful to have the opportunity I have to do what I love to do.”, Hartlaub said.

Up Next

Kody and the team will return to Williams Grove Speedway Friday night, August 4th with their 358 sprint car for another Summer Series event.

The following night they will take the J Fuels, Brewer Home Improvements, Moose Blocks, Smith Titanium, SRR Engines, Siegel Racing, T&N Solutions, Inch & Co. Real Estate, Bigham Appraisals, Pretzel Boy, HAAS Shocks, Chop Designs, Herr Electric, Hartlaub’s Furniture 410 sprint car to Lincoln Speedway.

Reinhardt 7th at Lincoln for Capitol Renegade, 8th at Grandview With Indy Race Parts Team

Team Set to Head to Knoxville Raceway in Iowa for Capitani Classic and Nationals

Abbottstown, PA – August 2, 2023

Kyle Reinhardt has been working to get his resources prepared for his upcoming trip to Knoxville.  Although that certainly includes getting the team’s engine program ready, as well as every other component of the race car, it also meant getting repairs made to the team’s toter and performing maintenance on other equipment.

While all of that was going on, there were also still a couple races to run in Pennsylvania before the team hit the road.

Opportunity Knocking

Reinhardt was going to miss the High Limit Series event at Grandview Speedway on July 25th thanks to an issue with the team’s toter because repairs would not be completed in time to make the trip.  That all changed just 24 hours before the schedule hot laps at Grandview Speedway.

After Tuesday’s race rained out and was rescheduled for July 26th, Reinhardt’s phone rang and on the other end was Bernie Stuebgen from Indy Race Parts.  Late Wednesday afternoon Reinhardt was strapping into the well-known black and green No.71 in Bechtelsville, PA to give it a ride.

Wednesday night’s $23,023 to win event drew a stout field of 27 teams to the Pennsylvania third-mile oval.  Reinhardt was fast in hot laps.  Early speed is a good sign, but it doesn’t count for anything.  On this night, it was at least an early confidence boost.

Reinhardt posted the 12th quickest lap in time trials, putting him 4th on the starting grid for his heat race.  In that 8-lap affair, he took possession of the 3rd position at the drop of the green.  The Neptune City, NJ native kept the leaders in his sights but wasn’t able to get close enough to strike, completing the strong run with a 3rd place finish.

From his 9th starting spot in the 35-lap finale, Reinhardt battled tight competition through six restarts.  He raced inside the top ten the entire night, fighting a brake issue to an 8th place finish.

I can’t thank Bernie and Betsy enough for the opportunity.  It was fun to get to run this race with the level of competition we had here.  I think we ran pretty well tonight all things considered.“, Reinhardt said.  “Bernie’s package is a lot different than what I am used to, and the show moved along quickly tonight, so we didn’t have a lot of time to work on things.

I hope to get the chance to race with him again.  I’ll be ready if the phone rings.“, Reinhardt concluded.

Change of Saturday Plans

Torrential rains overnight forced the cancellation of Saturday’s Living Legends Dream Race at Port Royal Speedway, so Reinhardt and the Capitol Renegade, Capitol Custom Coaches & Trailers, Coors Banquet Beer, Henry’s Wrecker Service No.91 team opted to head to Lincoln Speedway.

Things got off to a solid start at Lincoln for Reinhardt.  From the 5th starting spot in his heat race, he methodically pushed his way toward the front and earned a runner-up finish.

Reinhardt started 7th in the 35-lap A-main but struggled during the opening laps and slipped backwards.  He fought to remain just inside the top ten for the majority of the race, then finally began to make forward progress in the final ten laps.

Reinhardt reached 7th with five laps remaining and held on there to the finish, completing his second top ten run of the week.

We were decent.  I just didn’t get the start I wanted, and it took a while to recover from that.  It was one of those nights you just add to the notebook and move on.“, Reinhardt commented.

Sponsorship opportunities are available for the 2023 season.

Kyle can be contacted via [email protected].

Up Next

Reinhardt will head west this weekend to set up camp at Knoxville Raceway for a week.  Sunday, August 6th he will compete in the Capitani Classic, then will kick off the Knoxville Nationals Wednesday on his qualifying night.  The Nationals wrap up with the $175,000 to win finale on Saturday, August 12th.

The Neptune City, NJ native comes into the Knoxville Nationals week this year in the midst of his most consistent 410 sprint car season yet statistically speaking.  He has showed good speed all season and will look to make his first career Nationals A-main.  He has been close on each of his last two trips to the Nationals, which both ended one step short in the B-main.

Follow Reinhardt’s social media channels listed below or check Addicted2DirtPR.com/Events for the latest schedule updates.

Season Stats

36 races, 1 wins, 5 top 5’s, 20 top 10’s, 27 top 15’s

Kyle Keen Battles Through Tough Twin Bill Weekend in PA

Team Will Return to Williams Grove This Weekend

Abbottstown, PA – August 1, 2023

by Addicted2Dirt PR & Media Mgmt

Kyle Keen has been working as hard as anyone in the pit area.  So far in 2023 that hasn’t translated directly to the results one should get in return for the effort.  Mechanical issues, a learning curve behind the wheel and some flat out bad luck in the form of pill draws just haven’t worked in his favor.

That’s racing though.  Everyone goes through it.

Teams have to keep chipping away and grinding it out to be ready when everything comes together.  That’s exactly what Kyle Keen Motorsports is doing.  The recent weekend brought two more tests for the young wheelman.

  • Date:  July 28, 2023
  • Event:  358 Summer Series
  • Track:  Williams Grove Speedway
  • City, State:   Mechanicsburg, PA
  • Quick Stats:  25 cars, Heat 5th (4), A-main 15th (15)

  • Date:  July 29, 2023
  • Track:  Lincoln Speedway
  • City, State:   Abbottstown, PA
  • Quick Stats:  28 cars, Heat 6th (9), A-main 18th (18)

One Spot Changes Everything

Keen started 4th in his heat race Friday night at Williams Grove Speedway and with the top four making the redraw for the 358 Sprint Car Summer Series event, he was in a good position to kick off the night.

At the halfway mark of the 8-lap qualifying race, Keen lost the spot and slipped to 5th.  He was unable to recover the position and missed the redraw.

Instead of  having a shot at starting in the front few rows of the A-main, he lined up 15th for the night’s finale.  In the early going, Keen slipped back as far as 19th but battled back to finish 15th at the end of the night.

We were off a little in the heat race and it showed. Had a good start and just couldn’t capitalize on it. In the feature I thought the car was pretty good, just got stuck on the bottom early in the feature and took too long to get going.”, Keen said.

Climbing Out of a Hole

Another unfavorable pill draw put Keen 9th on the grid to start his heat race Saturday night at Lincoln Speedway in Abbottstown, PA, but the Fine Line Auto Body, Keen Parts/CorvetteParts.net, Doubling Gap Ranch, Shetron, Auction & Equipment, LLC., Wicked Dog Grille, Heishman Racing Fuels, Wicked Cushion, DL Lehman Construction, Gearhead Coffee, Jeremy Zarfos Photography, Coyle’s Lawn Maintenance, 2B Wrapped, 4 Leaf Clover Farms, Turn 2 Terribles Podcast & Media, Kyle Keen Motorsports No.17 was up to the task.  He charged his way up to 6th and into a transfer spot a few laps into the race.  Although his progress stopped there, his effort was good enough to transfer directly to the A-main.

Starting deep in the A-main field, Keen was hoping for forward progress similar to his heat race.  It never materialized.  He was mired in traffic and ended up 18th at the end of the night.

“Another rough pill draw had us start pretty deep in the heat. We had an awesome car for the heat race and we’re able to shoot up to 5th from 9th. In my opinion, we should have ran 3rd but I made a few mistakes that probably cost us a handicap spot.”, Keen shared.

“In the feature, the track was very blown off and start position was really important. Disappointed we weren’t able to do much passing, but that’s par for the course sometimes as the second feature on the racetrack.

Thanks to Ant Bay for coming up and serving as crew chief for us this weekend, we had a lot of fun!

Up Next

Kyle and the team will look to rebound from last weekend when they return to Williams Grove Speedway this Friday, August 4th for another 358 Summer Series event!

Season Stats

Trivia Question

The answer to the last trivia question is Kyle Keen would most like to race at Bridgeport Motorsports Park in Swedesboro, NJ someday!

Now, on to this week’s question.  What is Kyle’s favorite restaurant?

The answer in the next press release!

Zach Newlin Wins a Thriller at Williams Grove

Will Go For Back-to-Back Wins This Friday at Williams Grove Speedway

Mechanicsburg, PA – July 31, 2023

by Addicted2Dirt PR & Media Mgmt

Zach Daddy is back.  Back in victory lane.

Zach Newlin knows how to win races.  He won a ton of them in his 305 sprint car years and he won in his first year in a 358 sprint car back in 2020.

Since then, it’s been a tough stretch for Newlin.  He has not found victory lane while running a limited 358 sprint car schedule combined with some 410 sprint car outings in a few different cars.  A mix of bad luck, mechanical issues and some good runs have made up the past couple seasons.  None of those nights was quite good enough to get himself or his team on the front stretch after the race though.

Friday night Newlin reminded everyone he hasn’t forgotten how to wheel a sprint car to victory lane.  He came out on top after a thrilling battle with Kody Hartlaub in the closing laps at Williams Grove Speedway.

  • Date:  7/28/23
  • Event:  358 Summer Series
  • Track:  Williams Grove Speedway
  • City, State:   Mechanicsburg, PA
  • Quick Stats:  25 cars, Heat 2nd (2), A-main 1st (3)

Up On the Wheel Late

Newlin’s night started off with a decent pill draw that put him on the front row for his heat race.  A poor start dropped him back to 3rd on the opening circuit and by mid-race he found himself nearly a second back from the runner up spot.  He continued to grind and close the gap, finally reclaiming the 2nd spot on the final lap.

I have to give a big thanks to Dereck Locke’s son.  He pulled my pill for me tonight and put me on the front row of that heat.“, Newlin shared with a grin.

The redraw gave Newlin and the Manchester Hydraulics, Marlow’s Metal Fabrication, Safety Kleen, Lee Chassis Repair & Components, Will’s Lawncare, Mansberger Motorsports No.21m the inside of the second row to start the Summer Series 25-lap feature event.

Newlin got bottled up a bit in traffic on the initial start of the A-main and slipped back to 5th.  He went to work on 4th place Cody Phillips and after a few unsuccessful attempts to slip by on the low side, changed lanes and wrestled the spot away from Phillips using the high side in turn three.

A few laps later he used the high side again off turn two to take 3rd away from Jayden Wolf.  With a car that was clearly on point Friday night, Newlin continued his march forward.  He moved into 2nd on lap nine.

One lap later Newlin took command of the race, snatching the lead away from Chris Frank.  He went on to survive a restart and build a comfortable lead.  Meanwhile, Kody Hartlaub was marching forward as well.  The 7th place starter moved into the runner up spot with ten laps remaining and set his crosshairs on Newlin’s No.21m.

Hartlaub caught Newlin with a power move going into turn one to start lap 21.  Newlin battled back, diving under Hartlaub into turn three and had regained the lead before the line.  The pair ran wheel to wheel and nose to tail, dicing through lapped traffic over the remaining laps.

Newlin held on for his second career 358 sprint car victory by a mere 0.741 seconds.

I looked up at the board and saw Kody was in second.  I knew he was really good.  I just got too complacent with the lead and slowed my pace too much. I had the wing in the trunk to get off the corner but that’s not good for running the cushion, so it was a handful.“, Newlin said.

He (Hartlaub) certainly woke me up.  He raced me clean I don’t know if I raced him clean on the front stretch but it’s been a few years since we were here (in victory lane) so I wasn’t going to give up easily.

It feels good to be back here in victory lane.  It’s been way too long.  Getting Dan (Mansberger) a win has been a goal of mine and we finally did it.

Up Next

Zach and the Mansberger Motorsports team will return to Williams Grove Speedway on Friday, August 4th looking to go back-to-back in another 358 Summer Series race.

Newlin has quietly been working to put his family’s team back together to compete in the 410 sprint car ranks.  That work is about to pay off.  He expects to make the 410 debut for the familiar 11z during the month of August!  Be sure to follow Zach’s social media outlets listed below for the latest information about when and where that debut will happen!

Fans will see a lot more of Newlin in 2024.  He plans to compete in both the 21m (358) and 11z (410) going forward into next season.

Season Stats

6 races, 1 wins, 2 top 5’s, 3 top 10’s, 4 top 15’s

Trivia Question

The answer to our last trivia question is Zach’s racing-related business is Newlin Bar Service!  The business offers a full Torsion Bar Dyno service to sprint car, midget/lightning sprint and micro sprint team.  New Bar Service also carries a full line of new and used torsion bars for all your sprint car, midget and micro needs!

Now, on to this week’s question!  What year did Zach win the 358 sprint car Rookie of the Year Award at Williams Grove Speedway?

The answer in the next press release!

J Fuels and Kody Hartlaub Racing Form New Partnership

East Berlin, PA – July 24, 2023

by Addicted2Dirt PR & Media Mgmt

Rendering:  Chop Designs

Kody Hartlaub’s success and consistency over the last two seasons hasn’t gone unnoticed.  Fans certainly have the East Berlin, PA driver on their radar and now a York, PA business has taken note and joined forces with Hartlaub as well.

J Fuels, a locally owned and operated business known as South Central PA’s Best Choice for Propane, will adorn the wing of Hartlaub’s No.95 sprint cars, both in the 358 and 410 divisions.

The J Fuels Story

J Fuels, founded in 2015 by owners Jimmy O’Brien Jr. and JR Facciola, strives to provide fuel to residential, commercial, and agricultural customers across south-central Pennsylvania. After initially only providing propane, they expanded in 2016 into the home heating oil and off road diesel business.

They pride themselves in their customer service and they promise to work with customers to help them understand all of their options to help save them money, not only now, but in the future as well.

J Fuels does it all:  Commercial Service and Residential Service.  Why people choose J Fuels?  They provide 24/7 emergency delivery, competitive pricing and fast & friendly service.

Bringing the Vision Into Focus

Hartlaub jumped into the 358 sprint car ranks a few years ago with just what he needed to go racing.  Since then, he has been working to build the depth of his program, knowledge and experience.  He has done so with a calculated plan with the support of his current partners.

As he has dipped the figurative toe of Kody Hartlaub Racing into the 410 sprint car ranks in 2023, with aspirations of that being the team’s full time endeavor within a few years, the choices have sometimes become harder.  Resources only go so far.  To invest in this week, this season or the future is sometimes the choice that must be made.

We couldn’t be happier that Jimmy and JR wanted to become part of our team.  For us, this means fewer tough choices.  Now we can allocate resources to our future vision.“, Kody Hartlaub commented.

We want to go into full time 410 racing within a few years.  We are trying to start preparing now so we don’t get sidelined to easily once we choose that path.  By partnering with J Fuels, we know we can reach that vision and maybe we will even reach it sooner than expected.  Maybe 2024 isn’t out of the question if things work out.

“We know we can give Jimmy and JR a great return for their investment by advertising and representing J Fuels everywhere we go, through our connections in the sport and through our fans at the track and on social media.”

Putting the Customer First

J Fuels is committed to providing their customers with excellent customer service to earn their respect and loyalty, and to provide prompt service with a quality product at a competitive price. They pride themselves on honesty and integrity and they firmly believe that you will see the difference when you choose J Fuels.

They take pride in getting to know their customers as more than just a number on an invoice and they are striving to bring honesty and integrity back, one customer at a time. Their staff is a fully trained team of experts ready to meet your needs 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year and they are fully licensed, certified, and insured.

Call them today at 717-547-5427 for a free quote and get a free safety check when you sign up for automatic delivery service.

We are excited to be partnering with Kody (Hartlaub) and his program and we are excited to get involved in the racing community in central Pennsylvania, which is such an important part of our region and beyond.“, said J Fuels co-owner Jimmy O’Brien Jr.  “Kody runs a successful, quality program that we will be proud to have represent us.  We are confident this relationship will help both Kody and J Fuels grow.

We provide customers with professional propane service with a wide variety of options, to better suit their needs.  We are committed and loyal to our customers.  We know race fans are very loyal to their drivers and their brands as well.  We hope the race fans will let us be their propane or fuel oil provider for their home or business in South Central Pennsylvania.  We look forward to those relationships and being a part of the racing community!

Reinhardt 14th with Outlaws at BAPS Motor Speedway

Team Taking Weekend Off, Plans for Next Week To Be Set Soon

York Haven, PA – July 22, 2023

by Addicted2Dirt PR & Media Mgmt

Kyle Reinhardt returned home to Pennsylvania coming off a good showing over four nights at Eldora Speedway in Ohio.  To keep the momentum going, he had just a few days to prepare because the World of Outlaws series was also headed to the Keystone State to take on the PA Posse at BAPS Motor Speedway.

  • Date:  July 20, 2023
  • Event:  Bricker’s Bash
  • TrackBAPS Motor Speedway
  • City, State:   York Haven, PA
  • Quick Stats:  32 cars, Qualifying 25th, Heat 4th (7), A-main 14th (13)

Fast Out of the Gate

Reinhardt had a solid record at BAPS Motor Speedway in 2023 coming into the matchup with the Outlaws, including a win in the Greg Hodnett Foundation race on June 1st in the Capitol Renegade, Capitol Custom Coaches & Trailers, Coors Banquet Beer, Henry’s Wrecker Service No.91.

Wednesday night, July 19th Reinhardt was among a field of 35 drivers ready for competition and he got his night off to a great start despite a late draw for qualifying.  The Neptune City, NJ native ripped off the 8th quickest lap overall and earned a front row starting spot in his heat.

Moments later, the skies opened up and Mother Nature washed out any chance of cashing in on the hot start.

Take Two

Teams returned Thursday night to try again.  The program started over from the beginning with Reinhardt once again going out late in the qualifying order.  This time he found himself 25th quickest with an uphill battle ahead of him.

Reinhardt rebounded quickly in his heat race by blasting from his 7th starting spot into the 4th spot on the opening lap.  He held on to that transfer spot for the next seven circuits to lock himself into the A-main.

In the 30-lap finale, Reinhardt found himself in tight battles with Kasey Kahne, Donny Schatz and others throughout the fast-paced race.  When the dust had settled, he had earned a 14th place finish.

Just really missed the line in time trials and that put us behind.  Then were just kind of there in the feature after recovering good in the heat race.“, Reinhardt said.

Sponsorship opportunities are available for the 2023 season.

Kyle can be contacted via [email protected].

Up Next

Reinhardt will sit out this weekend’s action as the team works to get their engines sorted out for the upcoming Knoxville Nationals and awaits repairs to their toter.

Tentatively, if everything falls into place in time, Reinhardt would like to make the trip to Grandview Speedway on July 25th to race with the High Limit Sprint Car Series and to Port Royal Speedway for the Living Legends Dream Race/Greg Hodnett Classic.

Follow Reinhardt’s social media channels listed below or check Addicted2DirtPR.com/Events for the latest schedule updates.

Kody Hartlaub Back In the Top Five at Lincoln Speedway

Team Will Enjoy Off Weekend Before Returning for Double-Bill Weekend to Close Out July

Abbottstown, PA – July 19, 2023

Over the past month, Mother Nature has interfered with the Central Pennsylvania racing schedule, but Kody Hartlaub managed to squeeze in another 410 sprint car start, plus a couple more outings in his 358 sprint car.

The result was more of the consistent, quality runs fans have become accustomed to from Hartlaub in 2023.

Making 410 Laps

An off week for the 358 sprint cars on June 17th at Lincoln Speedway presented Hartlaub with a chance to get more 410 sprint car seat time.  With 29 teams on hand for the PA Speedweek tuneup show, it wasn’t a guaranteed start.  He would have to earn his way into the show.

Hartlaub’s pill draw put him on track late in the order for time trails and his best lap ranked as 24th quickest in the field.  That equated to starting 8th in his heat.

The East Berlin, PA driver wasn’t able to move forward in the heat race and was relegated to the 6th starting spot in the B-main.  Hartlaub needed to stay in the top six to transfer and he managed to secure a little insurance by finishing 4th.

Hartlaub’s night got even better after he secured the 22nd starting spot in the A-main.  By the end of lap two he had advanced 3 spots to 19th and by lap five he was 15th in the running order.

Midway through the race Hartlaub slipped back to 17th but continued to battle and eventually climbed back to 15th.  With three laps remaining he turned his quickest lap of the feature and worked his way into the 14th position.  He held on there to the checkered flag.

That was a decent night, I’ll take it.  Things happen a little quicker in these cars obviously and I think what hurts me right now is that I don’t run them regularly.  At the beginning of the night I feel like I’m still adjusting to the speed, not in terms of running hard but in terms of decision making.  As the night goes on, I adjust and things slow down and I feel like I race better because I’m making better decisions.  All part of the learning process.“, Hartlaub said.

Racing the Rubber

Thanks to Mother Nature and schedules, Hartlaub didn’t make a lap for three weeks before finally getting the chance to strap in again on July 8th at Lincoln Speedway.  It was a 358 sprint car night for the Littlestown, PA native and 35 other teams were pit-side with him.  The regular format called for the top five finishers in each heat to transfer to the main event, with the top three being handicapped to the front.

Hartlaub started 5th in the final heat.  Nearly halfway through the ten lap qualifying race he was sitting in 4th, in the show but not in the handicap.  He continued to work forward, taking the 3rd spot on lap five and capturing the final handicap spot on the final lap.

Being the current point leader at Lincoln Speedway, Hartlaub assumed the 12th starting spot for the 20-lap feature.  On lap three he moved into 11th but the racing surface had taken rubber, making it a one lane affair around the bottom.  The best he could do was make sure he didn’t miss his marks so he didn’t go backwards.  He finished 11th, his first time outside of the top ten in his 358 sprint car since March.

Feeling Normal

Saturday night July 15th brought another typical field of over thirty 358 sprint cars to Lincoln Speedway.  With a slightly better draw than the week before, Kody Hartlaub started 3rd in his heat and managed to claim a spot in the handicap with a 2nd place finish.  Once again, as the points leader at the track, his reward was a 12th starting spot in the 20-lap main event.

Although those things were all similar to prior weeks for Hartlaub, the rest of the night felt more like 2021 when he was passing a lot of cars and charging from the back to the front in the Brewer Home Improvements, Moose Blocks, Smith Titanium, SRR Engines, Siegel Racing, T&N Solutions, Inch & Co. Real Estate, Bigham Appraisals, Pretzel Boy, HAAS Shocks, Chop Designs, Herr Electric, Hartlaub’s Furniture, Kody Hartlaub Racing No.95.

From that 12th starting spot, on a very racy surface, Hartlaub got right to work.  By lap three he was in the top ten.  The methodical climb continued throughout the night.

Hartlaub reached 7th on lap eight but had to fight for several laps to secure it, finally taking it for good on lap twelve.  With seven laps remaining he cracked the top five and a couple laps later moved into 4th.  When the checkers waived, the 4th place finish was official.

Hartlaub has been having a tremendous season but it was surprising to note that this was his first top five finish since May 27th at BAPS Motor Speedway.  Overall, it was his 10th top ten in twelve races spanning three different tracks.  A remarkable statistic.

These 20-lap deals are tough when you get handicapped to 12th for the start.  You have to go forward right away.  I’ve been working hard this year on being aggressive but smart.  I will take chances out there but I want to take the correct chances.  So far I feel like I’m doing a better job at that than I did last year.“, Hartlaub said.

It’s the little things like knowing I can catch the car in front of me but being smart about exactly when I catch it.  With so few laps to work with, I need to make sure I pass someone the first chance I get, not spend three laps trying to get it done.  Those are the things I’m thinking about behind the wheel.

Up Next

Cappetta and Team Continue to Make Gains

Cappetta Matches Season Best Finish

Abbottstown, PA – July 19, 2023

by Emily Winslow / Addicted2Dirt PR & Media Mgmt

Ashley and the Cappetta Racing Team put together a solid night despite starting off yet again with a high pill draw.

  • Date:  July 15, 2023
  • Event:  Dean’s Auto Plaza Night
  • Track:  Lincoln Speedway
  • City, State:   Abbottstown, PA
  • Quick Stats:  33 cars, Heat 4th [8], A-main 13th [16]

Cappetta and the Team Had the Car on Rails

Ashley Cappetta and the Gettysburg Trading Post, Mike’s Towing and Recovery, Yesteryear Antique Center, Stoner’s Auction, O’Brien’s Fuel and Service, Iron Horse Trains, Republican Club of Hanover No. 89 were back in action on Saturday night at Lincoln Speedway for Dean’s Auto Plaza Night.

After another high pill draw to start off the night, Cappetta lined up eighth for her heat race. Just as Ashley had driven her way into a transfer spot, she got caught up in an incident in turns 3 and 4, sending her back to the rear, “The car was on absolute rails before the contact in the heat. The car did not feel as good as it did before the spin out.” Cappetta rejoined the heat race with some nose wing damage which threw the car off a little bit. Ashley was still able to get back into a qualifying spot putting her in the feature, “If we would have stayed green third could have been possible.”

Another Solid Feature Run for Cappetta

Cappetta lined up 16th for the start of the 20-lap feature was running 14th on lap 4, “We moved forward, but not as far forward as I wanted to.” With four laps to go, Ashley made the pass for 13th, which is where she would finish, “I had a little bit of wheel spin coming off of turn 4. The car felt great, but I just couldn’t get past the wheel spin, it was just enough to throw me off.” Ashley’s 13th place finish matched her season best finish that came at BAPS on May 27th.

Cappetta and Team Making Gains

Everything went well in the feature for Cappetta on Saturday despite two set-backs to start off the night with a high pill draw and getting caught up in an incident in the heat race, “We are making gains every week and looking forward to comparing notes to last week to see what we can put together for the rest of the season.” Cappetta has a positive outlook for the second half of the season, “We are slowly getting there, we just need a good pill draw to seal the deal.”

Stay tuned to Cappetta’s social media accounts, as well as Addicted2DirtPR.com/Events for the most up to date schedule information.

Berry Rebounds With Personal Best at Hagerstown in Frank Sagi Tribute

Team Will Take Upcoming Weekend Off, Return July 29th at Port Royal

Hagerstown, MD – July 19, 2023

by Addicted2Dirt PR & Media Mgmt

Austin Berry has been trying to find speed during the early part of the race night all year.  He has found it in flashes here and there during an occasional time trial show, but in large part he has had to race his tail off late in the night to move toward the front.

Last week at Port Royal the team tried some new things to remedy that and it didn’t work exactly as hoped, although the team did learn from the changes.  Sunday night Berry was back at the track to try again among a high quality field of 43 super late models at Hagerstown Speedway for the Frank Sagi Tribute race.

  • Date:  July 16, 2023
  • Event:  Frank Sagi Tribute
  • Track:  Hagerstown Speedway
  • City, State:   Hagerstown, MD
  • Quick Stats:  43 cars, Qualifying 8th in Group 1, Heat 5th (8), A-main 10th (17)

Slow Start South of the Mason-Dixon Line

Berry went out late in Group 1 qualifying and turned in a lap that put him a disappointing 8th in the heat race starting lineup.  The track had a ton of grip in it as a result of a late afternoon rain shower and Berry’s No.86 was just a bit too tight and needed a little more horsepower than he had available to counter that.

The Mifflin, PA native quickly turned that slow start into a positive.  Berry charged all the way to 5th on the opening lap of the heat race.  He was unable to run down Rick Eckert and settled for a 5th place finish, which was good enough to transfer directly to the feature event.

Heading North With A Personal Best

Berry started 17th in the 30-lap Frank Sagi Tribute A-main.  Over the opening ten laps it looked like he was in for a long night.

Suddenly, The Tire Mart Tire Pros of Harrisburg, Juniata Veterinary Clinic, Berry’s Siding & Seamless Gutter, SRI Performance, VP Racing Fuels, JDS Racing, Locust Hill Custom Butcher Shop, Nathan Berry Beef Farm, Addicted2DirtPR.com, GO Lithium, Valvoline Pro-V Racing, Super Clean, Rocket Chassis No.86 came alive.

On lap twelve Berry moved into 15th and by lap fifteen he had cracked the top ten.   Late in the race he slipped back to 11th for a handful of laps but he continued to battle and he was able to slip back into the 10th spot on the final circuit.  It was Berry’s career best finish at Hagerstown.

I found the middle right at the end there and it really worked for me.  Wish I had found that a few laps earlier, I think we could’ve picked off a couple more spots.”, Berry said.  We learned some things over the past couple races, so this week we talked with Jim (Stevens – JDS Racing) and made some changes.  The car was really good there in the feature, we just didn’t qualify good again and got ourselves in a hole.

“I’m learning behind the wheel every week and the team is learning every time we race too.  We will get the qualifying figured out early in the night and then we will be able to race for more podiums.  At least I can leave here tonight saying I beat Gary Stuhler at Hagerstown.  I’ve never done that before.“, Berry concluded with a smile.

Stuhler finished 12th  Sunday night.  He and Berry have become friends in recent years and beating the hall of fame driver, who he respects tremendously, at track where he has had so much success in his career gave Berry a moment to reflect on his journey as a driver to get to this point in his own career.
