Zach Newlin and the Mansberger Motorsports team have been working hard to solve some balance issues with the No.21m over the past month.  The team was running consistently inside the top ten and picked up one victory this summer, but has since been battling to get back to that level of consistency.

Friday night, the team rolled into Williams Grove Speedway for the final 358 sprint car race of the 2023 season at the legendary Pennsylvania oval.

QUICK RESULTS

DATE:  9/15/23

  • Event:  Final 358 Sprint Car Points Race of 2023
  • Track:  Williams Grove Speedway
  • City, State:   Mechanicsburg, PA
  • Quick Stats:  26 cars, Heat 2nd (5), A-Main 12th (6)

DIGGIN' EARLY

Newlin came out of the box, ready to be a factor Friday night.  Heat lineups were set using a handicapping format, which put the Millerstown, PA driver 5th to take the green.

As he is known to fans, Zach Daddy moved forward immediately and was holding down the runner-spot by lap three.  With the feature set to be lined up ‘heads up’ based on heat race finishes, Newlin went after leader Logan Rumsey but fell 0.850 seconds short at the finish line.

WELL, THAT'S UNFORTUNATE

Newlin started outside row three for the 20-lap main event and settled into the 6th spot in the early going.

As the race neared the midpoint, Newlin slipped to 8th but remained in a battle to climb further into the top ten.  Unfortunately, as he entered turn one on lap ten, contact with a competitor going for the same piece of real estate turned Newlin’s No.21m around.

With no damage, Newlin restarted at the rear of the field and made the most of the remaining ten laps, charging his way back to a 12th place finish, nearly completing a full recovery from the incident.

We had a good night going.  Hate that happened in the middle of the race.  I was committed to my line.  Just a racing deal.“, Newlin said.

We have been battling a tight condition and tonight we were too free.  We’ll keep working on it and find the balance we need.

Newlin and the Mansberger Motorsports team, who compiled five top-ten finishes and one win along the way, finished 6th in the Williams Grove Speedway 358 sprint car championship standings for the 2023 season.

I really want to thank Dan (Mansberger) for the opportunity to drive his car.  We got him back to victory lane this year and had a pretty good season.  Hoping we can come back next year with him and have an even better year.“, Newlin commented.

UP NEXT

Newlin’s 358 sprint car season may be over, but he still expects to squeeze in a couple more 410 sprint car races in his family’s familiar No.11z before the end of the year.

Kyle Reinhardt Wins Ford Classic Opener, Runner-up in Finale

4-Crown Nationals at Eldora Speedway Up Next

Fremont, OH – September 19, 2023

Kyle Reinhardt has been running at or near the front most nights since taking the wheel of the Grove Racing No.45.  He had led laps, but thus far a win had eluded him.

When a team has consistent speed like the Reinhardt/Grove combination has, sooner or later they will break through.  They did just that at Fremont Speedway’s Jim and Joanne Ford Classic.

LAST LAP DRAMATICS

Reinhardt got his team’s weekend off to a solid start by qualifying 2nd quickest in his group, which put the Grove Racing, Capitol Renegade, Bakers Mobile Home Transport, Coors Banquet Beer, Henry’s Wrecker Service No.45 on the pole for the heat race.  He then led that race wire to wire to put himself in the Dash.

The redraw handed Reinhardt the 6th starting spot in the 6-lap dash.  The Neptune City, NJ native managed to make some progress by advancing to a 4th place finish, which meant a second row starting spot for the 30-lap A-main.

Reinhardt charged into the 2nd position on the opening lap and pursued leader Parker Price Miller throughout the first half of the race.  The pair navigated their way through traffic, with Reinhardt looking for the right opportunity to slip by and take command.  On lap fourteen he led at the line, but Price Miller battled back to lead the next lap by just a few feet.

Reinhardt took command again on lap sixteen and remained out front until late in the race when Price Miller slipped by with three laps remaining.

Reinhardt wasn’t done.  He built up momentum on the high side on the final lap and beat Price Miller to the line by 0.094 seconds to take the $6,000 victory.

I knew I had a great car from the start.  Bryan (Grove) and I talk about it every race, you have to be in the dash to put yourself in position to win these races.  We’ve been doing that.“, Reinhardt said.  Everybody is so good, so getting two spots in the dash tonight was huge.”

“Picking up two spots on the start of the feature allowed me to be patient behind Parker (Price Miller).  I was trying to wait for the right opportunity in traffic and it worked out perfectly for me.  I kind of gave it back to him there late.  I didn’t know how many laps were left until I saw the white, so I knew I had to get up on the wheel and get it done.

GOING FOR THE SWEEP

Saturday night Reinhardt was back at Fremont Speedway to go after the Jim and Joanne Classic weekend sweep, and it certainly looked like he was up to the task.

Once again, he timed 2nd quickest in his group and won his heat race from the pole to put the Grove Racing No.45 into the dash.  He started 5th in the dash, slipped backwards two spots, then battled back to finish 5th.

Starting inside row three for the 40-lap finale, Reinhardt moved into the 4th spot on lap four and settled in there for the next twenty laps.

With the top five running close together in heavy traffic, Reinhardt’s patience paid off.  He took advantage of an opening on the low side of turn four, quickly darting into the runner up spot.  Over the final fifteen circuits, he gave chase to leader Zeb Wise, nipping at his heels and pulling alongside on several occasions.

Despite a caution with two laps to go that provided a restart opportunity for Reinhardt, he was never able to wrestle the lead away from Wise and finished 2nd, missing the weekend sweep by just 0.958 seconds.

I can’t thank my guys enough.  Chris (Shuttlesworth) and all the 45 guys have been working really hard and it shows.”, Reinhardt said.

I got under Zeb (Wise) one time, but he did what he needed to do to keep the position and it broke my momentum.

Reinhardt did not want to see the final caution with two laps remaining.

He (Wise) doesn’t know it, but he’s lucky that caution came out because I had my momentum back and was rolling pretty good.“, Reinhardt said with a smile.

Sponsorship opportunities are available for the 2023 season.

Kyle can be contacted via [email protected].

Newlin Makes Progress Late at Grove for Mansberger Motorsports

Mechancisburg, PA – September 18, 2023

by Addicted2Dirt PR & Media Mgmt

Zach Newlin returned to the seat of the Mansberger Motorsports No.21m 358 sprint car Friday night at Williams Grove Speedway for the annual Match Race, which offers an increased purse throughout the field.

The team was not only looking to claim some of the cash that was on the line, they were hoping to start a new streak of top ten finishes after losing their previous streak of five with a tough outing on September 1st.

QUICK RESULTS

  • Date:  9/15/23
  • Event:  Match Race
  • Track:  Williams Grove Speedway
  • City, State:   Mechanicsburg, PA
  • Quick Stats:  28 cars, Heat 8th (8), A-Main 14th (19)

TOUGH HOLE TO DIG OUT OF

Heat race lineups for the 28 358 sprint cars on hand were set using a handicapping format, which put Newlin 8th on the grid for the first heat of the night.  The top six finishers would transfer directly to the night’s main event, but the heavy, narrow track wasn’t very conducive for passing.  The Millerstown, PA driver finished where he started, 8th, and moved on to the B-main for another shot.

In the 10-lap B-main, Newlin started 4th and went on the charge from the drop of the green.  By lap two, he snagged the runner-up spot.  On lap five, he took the lead away from Nat Tuckey.  He never looked back and took the win by over four seconds.

The 25-lap Match Race A-main kicked off with Newlin in the 19th starting spot.  Once again, he started his forward progress from the outset.

Six laps in, Newlin was up to 15th.  On lap eleven, he moved into 14th.  The progress stalled there and Newlin finished 14th.

We weren’t horrible but the car was a little too tight.  We need to figure that out.“, Newlin said.

Newlin was alluding to a setup issue that the team has been battling the last few races.  Something has changed on the car since their hot streak over the summer and it has been a bit tricky to zero in on exactly what is causing the handling issues.

We’re hoping to be back here next Friday night and give it another shot.“, Newlin concluded.

UP NEXT

Newlin will tentatively return to Williams Grove Speedway Friday, September 22nd for the final 358 sprint car race of the 2023 season.

Stay tuned to Zach Newlin Racing’s social media outlets listed below or to Addicted2DirtPR.com/Events for the latest schedule information.

TRIVIA QUESTION

The answer to our last trivia question is Zach accumulated [D] More than 100 top ten finishes in the 305 sprint car division during the 2016-2019 seasons!  Quite an impressive statistic!

Reinhardt Gets Good Start at Tuscarora 50 Before Rain Hits

All Stars Jim Ford Classic at Fremont On Tap

Port Royal, PA – September 12, 2023

by Addicted2Dirt PR & Media Mgmt

Kyle Reinhardt rolled into Port Royal Speedway with the Grove Racing team carrying the momentum of three straight top five finishes and five top ten finishes in seven starts with the team.

With a lot of cash on the line over a three day period, Reinhardt was in the best position he had ever been to claim a nice share of the money Port Royal was putting up for the 56th Annual Tuscarora 50.

Before he could even get started, one of his three chances was washed away by rain when Thursday’s opener was cancelled.  That still left Friday’s $10,000 to win show and the $60,000 (increased from its original $56,000) to win Tuscarora 50.

NIGHT BEFORE THE 50

The All Star five heat group format was in play for the 48 teams on hand Friday night at Port Royal Speedway.  Reinhardt turned the 5th quickest lap in his group.  With only four transferring from each heat, he would need to move forward to get in the show.

After a strong start, an issue developed and Reinhardt faded to a 7th place finish in the Grove Racing, Capitol Renegade, Bakers Mobile Home Transport, Coors Banquet Beer, Henry’s Wrecker Service No.45.

Starting deep in the B-main (13th), Reinhardt needed to get to the top four to race his way into the A-main.  He managed a 10th place finish.

The team used an available provisional to start the A-main.  Reinhardt was able to move forward a few spots to a 21st place finish in the 30-lap Friday finale.

We weren’t very good in qualifying, then we had an issue in our heat.  Hard to dig out of a hole like that with so many good cars here.“, Reinhardt said.

TUSCARORA 50

Saturday evening the program began under sunny skies but with an unfavorable forecast, just like Friday night’s show.  The Tuscarora 50 format split the 49 cars into two groups for time trials.

Reinhardt turned the 10th quickest lap in Group B, a nice improvement over Friday’s lap.

The qualifying effort earned Reinhardt the pole for heat number four with the top three finishers transferring to the A-main, but unlike the night before, the skies did not cooperate.  Moments after time trials were completed, the rain came.  They didn’t let up for hours, forcing officials to postpone the event.

When the Tuscarora 50 is rescheduled, the program will start over.  A makeup date for the event has not been announced yet.

Sponsorship opportunities are available for the 2023 season.

Kyle can be contacted via [email protected].

Reinhardt and the Grove Racing No.45 team will join the All Star Circuit of Champions at Fremont Speedway for the two night Jim and Joanne Ford Classic on September 15th and 16th.

Kody Hartlaub Bounces Back Saturday at Lincoln After Costly Mistake Friday at Williams Grove

Team Returning to Williams Grove September 15th for Next 358 Race

Abbottstown, PA – September 11, 2023

by Addicted2Dirt PR & Media Mgmt

The month of September opened with yet another two-race weekend for Kody Hartlaub.  After an impressive top ten run in his 410 sprint car the week before, this time it was all about his team’s primary focus this year, the 358 sprint car.

QUICK RESULTS

DATE:  September 1, 2023

  • Division:  358 Sprint Cars

  • Division:  358 Sprint Cars
  • Track:  Lincoln Speedway
  • City, State:   Abbottstown, PA
  • Stats:  24 cars, Heat 2nd (3), A-main 2nd (9)

PAYING THE PRICE

Hartlaub was among a field of 28 drivers set to do battle Friday night, September 1st at Williams Grove Speedway.  The heat lineups were set using a handicapping system, which put point leader Hartlaub outside the fourth row.  That improved to outside row three when two lesser experienced drivers opted to start at the rear of the field.

By the time one lap was complete, Hartlaub was already 4th and poised for more when the caution appeared.  On the ensuing restart, he dove into turn one but the hole he thought he saw closed quickly.

With little time to adjust, Hartlaub spun and was collected another car.  He pushed off and restarted at the back of the pack, but the car was wounded.  He managed to finish 6th to transfer into the A-main in the J Fuels, Brewer Home Improvements, Moose Blocks, Smith Titanium, SRR Engines, Siegel Racing, T&N Solutions, Inch & Co. Real Estate, Bigham Appraisals, Pretzel Boy, HAAS Shocks, Chop Designs, Herr Electric, Hartlaub’s Furniture, Kody Hartlaub Racing No.95.

There was significant damage to the front suspension but with help from Steve Owings, Doug Hammaker and others, the team patched the car back together to put Hartlaub on track for the feature.

Hartlaub’s car wasn’t its competitive self though and the East Berlin, PA driver just survived to salvage a 19th place finish.

I made a mistake and paid for it.“, Hartlaub said of the misjudged passing attempt in the heat race.  “I owe a big thanks to Steve Owings, Doug Hammaker and everyone else that came down to help us salvage what we could in the feature.

Upon returning to the shop late Friday night, the team spent several hours swapping their 358 motor into their 410 sprint car so they could race at Lincoln Saturday night.

A MUCH BETTER DAY

Saturday night, September 2nd, brought 24 teams to Lincoln Speedway and a pill draw put Hartlaub in row two for his heat race.  He quickly secured a handicap spot for the feature with a 2nd place finish in the qualifying race.

The handicapping system put Hartlaub 9th on the grid for the 20-lap A-main.  In a steady, workmanlike effort, he methodically chipped his way toward the front, breaking into the top five on lap eleven.

A few laps later, Hartlaub claimed 3rd and on the final circuit took the runner up spot away from veteran Frankie Herr.

It was Hartlaub’s 12th top five finish in 20 starts this season in the 358 sprint car ranks.

Thank you to my crew, Kevin And Stacy Hartlaub, Austin Funk, Pat Brewer, and David Hartlaub Jr. for the long hours to get it turned around so we could be here tonight.“, Harlaub said.

UP NEXT

Hartlaub will return to action at a two-race weekend at Williams Grove Speedway on September 15th, followed by Lincoln Speedway September 16th.

SEASON STATS

358 SPRINTS:  20 races, 2 wins, 12 top 5’s, 17 top 10’s, 18 top 15’s

Keen’s Roller Coaster Season Tests Team Again

Done for Year, Focus Turns to 2024 Preparation

Abbottstown, PA – September 8, 2023

by Addicted2Dirt PR & Media Mgmt

Kyle Keen entered September coming off a top five finish at Lincoln Speedway and only wanted one thing:  to put together a complete weekend.

That was something that had been tough to accomplish in 2023.  It seemed every good run had been followed by issues so far this season.

Williams Grove and Lincoln Speedways were set to provide Keen with the opportunity to change that pattern as the season entered the home stretch.

QUICK RESULTS

DATE:  September 1, 2023

WEEKEND KICKOFF

Williams Grove attracted a field of 28 cars Friday night for their regular 358 sprint car show.  The heat lineups were set using a handicap format, which put Kyle Keen and his Fine Line Auto Body, Keen Parts/CorvetteParts.net, Doubling Gap Ranch, Shetron, Auction & Equipment, LLC., Wicked Dog Grille, Heishman Racing Fuels, Wicked Cushion, DL Lehman Construction, Gearhead Coffee, Jeremy Zarfos Photography, Coyle’s Lawn Maintenance, 2B Wrapped, 4 Leaf Clover Farms, Turn 2 Terribles Podcast & Media, Kyle Keen Motorsports No.17k on the pole as a result of his partial schedule at the track.

On the initial start, Keen was called for jumping the start and was penalized to 3rd for the second attempt to start the race.  He quickly drove back into 2nd and began to challenge the leader but couldn’t get past and settled for the runner-up finish.

Keen lined up 4th for the 20-lap feature and immediately charged into 2nd as the field entered turn three on the opening lap.  At the halfway point, the Carlisle, PA native was in 4th.  He was still holding down that spot with six laps remaining when the caution lights flashed on.

On the ensuing restart, Keen’s No.17k was not the same.  He slipped backwards in the closing laps and finished 8th.

Not sure what happened on the restart, but the car went completely away.  It was like the tires sealed over.  I lost all grip.”, Keen shared.

Disappointed we went backwards the last few laps after having such a strong run going.  Was scratching my head after the restart, but we’ll notch another top 10 under our belt and keep moving forward.”

NOT AGAIN

Keen was looking to put together a full weekend of positive results when he rolled into Lincoln Speedway Saturday night on the heels of Friday’s top ten finish at Williams Grove.

Unfortunately, once again he encountered some tough luck.  After starting 2nd in his heat race, Keen was involved in an accident that destroyed the team’s only remaining car.

The incident not only put an end to Keen’s night, it put an end to his season.

The 17k will sadly be done for the remainder of the season and we will turn our attention to preparing for 2024.  I want to say thank you to all our friends, family and sponsors who work so hard to keep our race car on the racetrack.“, Keen said.

I’m really disappointed because I felt the last few weeks, we have shown some pretty good speed.  There are some exciting things happening for next year we can’t wait to share with everyone.

SEASON STATS

16 races, 0 wins, 2 top 5’s, 5 top 10’s, 7 top 15’s

Cappetta and Team Continue to Learn

Looking to Finish the Season Strong

Abbottstown, PA – September 7, 2023

by Emily Winslow / Addicted2Dirt PR & Media Mgmt

Ashley and the Cappetta Racing Team had a decent night at Lincoln Speedway on Saturday which allowed them to continue to add to their extensive notebook on the new tires.

QUICK RESULTS

DATE:  September 2, 2023

  • Event:  Kick-Off to the Classic
  • Track:  Lincoln Speedway
  • City, State:   Abbottstown, PA
  • Quick Stats:  24 cars, Heat 7th [5], A-main 14th [20]

FRUSTRATING HEAT RACE TO START THE NIGHT

Ashley Cappetta and the Gettysburg Trading Post, Mike’s Towing and Recovery, Yesteryear Antique Center, Stoner’s Auction, O’Brien’s Fuel and Service, Iron Horse Trains, Republican Club of Hanover No. 89 were back in action at Lincoln Speedway on Saturday for the Kick-off to the Classic.

Cappetta’s pill draw lined her up fifth for her heat race. And what a heat race it was. Contact was made as Cappetta and her competitors raced hard for position. Ashley lost momentum in the fight for position and the track changed halfway through the 10 lap heat, “The last half of the heat race, we didn’t have the car set up for the conditions and the car started to fade.” With 24 cars on hand everyone qualified for the feature so Cappetta would have a chance to turn the night around in the feature after a frustrating heat race.

“I got a good start in the feature and passed two cars in the first lap,” but then the caution came out. “I think if we would have stayed green, I would have done better, I had good momentum. After the caution I couldn’t get rolling like I was before the yellow.” The team did change the set up from the week prior and the car felt more drivable, “I was still getting a little bit of wheel spin off of turn 4.” With the week off the team will look into combatting the wheel spin issue.

CAPPETTA AND TEAM LOOK TO CLOSE OUT THE SEASON STRONG

With two races left on the season Cappetta and the team would love a win but right now they are focused on finding a set up that makes Ashley feel the most comfortable so they can come out of the gate strong to kick-off next season, “A top five or a win would be great, but right now comfort is my number one priority.” Cappetta has had conversations with many other teams and the new tire has evolved throughout the year, “We would like to not fight the tires all year again next year.”

The first race on tap is the Montieth Classic, “Montieth was a favorite of mine and I miss seeing him race.” And then the Weldon Sterner Memorial will close out the season, “As much as this race means to me, for me to end up in victory lane with Pat, that would mean a lot to share that moment again.”

Stay tuned to Cappetta’s social media accounts, as well as Addicted2DirtPR.com/Events for the most up to date schedule information.

Reinhardt Impressive With Three Top Fives for Grove Racing In Ohio

Team Carrying Momentum Into Lucrative Tuscarora 50 Weekend

Orrville, OH – September 6, 2023

by Addicted2Dirt PR & Media Mgmt

Kyle Reinhardt has been turning heads since he joined the Grove Racing team in mid-August.  They have been consistently fast and in the thick of the battle every night.

The next step for Reinhardt and the team is to consistently get the finishes they are capable of.  The two day Attica Ambush with the All Star Circuit of Champions was their next chance to check that box and they did.

SEND IT!

Reinhardt rolled into Attica Raceway Park along with 35 other teams to open the month of September.

The third-mile oval has challenged Reinhardt in his handful of starts there, but he opened this night by turning in the quickest lap in his group and transferring through his heat to earn a spot in the Dash.

While the redraw wasn’t friendly to Reinhardt, handing him the 8th starting spot for the 6-lap race, he overcame it with a charge to a 4th place finish.

Going from outside row two in the 35-lap A-main, Reinhardt made it clear from the drop of the green that he was going to be a factor.  By lap four he was in the runner up spot and challenging leader Kerry Madsen.

Reinhardt dogged Madsen for the next 25 circuits but couldn’t get by.  Following a late restart, he went for it.  He dove low into turn one, but Madsen slammed the door late.  The Neptune City, NJ native nearly spun but was able to gather his No.45 up and get back in the gas.

The lost momentum was enough for Tyler Courtney to slip by.  With only a few laps remaining, Reinhardt wasn’t able to reclaim the spot and settled for a 3rd place finish.

DEFINITELY ON THE RIGHT TRACK

Saturday’s $12,000 to win Attica Ambush finale drew a field of 38 teams to try to collect a big payday.

Reinhardt proved Friday was no fluke.  He kicked off Saturday night’s qualifying by ripping the quickest lap in his group in the Grove Racing, Capitol Renegade, Bakers Mobile Home Transport, Coors Banquet Beer, Henry’s Wrecker Service No.45.

Reinhardt once again transferred through his heat and put himself and his team in the Dash.  He wasn’t able to gain any track position through the dash, but in the 40-lap A-main, he moved forward.

From the 8th starting spot, Reinhardt worked his way to the 4th spot by lap eight.  He was unable to climb further but held a firm grasp on 4th all the way to the checkered flag.

We came out of the Ambush with a P3 and a P4.  My best showing at Attica for sure.“, Reinhardt said.  “Caught the yellows at the wrong time on Friday.  Laid it all out (on Friday night) and went for it (the win) but ended up paying the price.”

I’m excited to keep rolling with this Grove Racing No.45!”

PASS 'EM TWICE IF YOU HAVE TO

The Grove Racing team and Reinhardt traveled to Wayne County Speedway on Sunday night for the $10,000 to win Pete Jacobs Memorial.

The 37-car field was split into two flights for qualifying.  Reinhardt timed 10th quickest in his group, putting him 5th on the grid for his heat race.

The team’s adjustments following time trials were on point and Reinhardt quickly charged from 5th to a 2nd place finish.

Reinhardt started 10th in the 30-lap A-main and immediately went on the charge.  By lap two he was passing for 7th when contact in traffic got him out of shape on the backstretch and dropped him to 14th in the running order.

Knowing he had a very good race car; Reinhardt went right back to work.  He broke into the top ten again on lap twelve.  His march continued as he cracked the top five on lap twenty one.

When the dust finally settled, Reinhardt was 2nd.  It was a great run but a missed opportunity too, he felt.

Really happy with our speed but a bit disappointed with this finish to be honest.  Had a great start and was already up three spots and got turned on the backstretch.  Dropped to 14th and raced all the way back to 2nd, so a great run overall.“, Reinhardt said.

Hopefully we can carry this momentum into Port Royal for the Tuscarora 50 week.

Sponsorship opportunities are available for the 2023 season.

Kyle can be contacted via [email protected].

UP NEXT

Reinhardt and the Grove Racing No.45 team will head to Port Royal Speedway for a three day program that culminates with the 56th Annual Tuscarora 50 which will award the winner with $56,000.

Follow Reinhardt’s social media channels listed below or check Addicted2DirtPR.com/Events for the latest schedule updates.

Hartlaub Earns 410 Sprint Top Ten, Three Top Fives in 358 Competition Over Two Week Span

Grove, Lincoln 358 Sprint Dates on the Agenda This Weekend

Newberrytown, PA – August 31, 2023

by Addicted2Dirt PR & Media Mgmt

Kody Hartlaub has been a busy guy in 2023.  The year started with the construction of a new race shop and the birth of his first child.

Hartlaub built his team’s depth to enable them to compete at both Williams Grove and Lincoln on a weekly basis when the 358 sprint cars are on the card.

Then, with the help of partner Pat Brewer and Brewer Home Improvements, he decided to start building his 410 sprint car program and has hit the track six times with that car already.

In 2023, Hartlaub entered 24 total races.  He has already competed in that many to date in 2023 and he has at least six more on his schedule.

358 News

In the span of just over 24 hours August 18th and 19th, Hartlaub logged three 358 sprint car features, two at Williams Grove on Friday night and one at Lincoln on Saturday night.  He finished 5th, 2nd and 10th respectively in the J Fuels, Brewer Home Improvements, Moose Blocks, Smith Titanium, SRR Engines, Siegel Racing, T&N Solutions, Inch & Co. Real Estate, Bigham Appraisals, Pretzel Boy, HAAS Shocks, Chop Designs, Herr Electric, Hartlaub’s Furniture, Kody Hartlaub Racing No.95.

While the main events were certainly not a walk in the park, Hartlaub did the heavy lifting during the heat races that weekend, passing six cars at The Grove and four at Lincoln during qualifying.

Hartlaub was just as good at Lincoln the following weekend, August 26th.  He won his heat race and drove from 8th to 3rd in the A-main that night.

“We’ve been really consistent all year.  That’s a credit to Pat (Brewer), my dad and all my guys who put it a lot of hours by my side to make sure everything is well maintained and we are as prepared as we can be.  I can’t thank them enough.“, Hartlaub said.

Hartlaub has compiled some impressive statistics at the wheel of his 358 sprint car in 2023.  Along with the two wins at Lincoln Speedway, his average finishing position is 5.8 over eleven races.  Just up the road at Williams Grove Speedway, Hartlaub owns an average finish of 3.5 over six races.

It will come as no surprise those stats have put Hartlaub atop the season championship point standings at both tracks.

Hartlaub leads Derek Locke by 70 points at Williams Grove and Logan Rumsey by 120 points at Lincoln Speedway.  Both tracks have 3 races remaining for the 358 sprint cars this season.

Hartlaub closed out the month of August with his sixth 410 sprint car race of the season.  He was part of a 23-car field signed in at BAPS Motor Speedway for the Capitol Renegade Clash on Sunday evening.

The night got off to a solid start for Hartlaub with the 4th quickest lap in his group, which put him on the pole for his heat race.  It was in the heat race that he turned some heads.  Hartlaub led the first seven laps before giving up the lead and settling for a runner-up finish.

In the 30-lap A-main Hartlaub initially slipped back to 10th from his 8th starting spot but he was able to find his rhythm and move into 6th by lap three.  He kept a firm hold on the spot for the duration of the event, notching his 2nd top ten in six 410 sprint car races.

Up Next

Hartlaub will focus on his 358 sprint car this weekend with two nights at the track in central Pennsylvania.

Friday night he will go after his first career win at the legendary Williams Grove Speedway.

Saturday night he will get back to victory lane for the first time since May at Lincoln Speedway.  While Hartlaub has been very good there all summer (with an average finish of 5.8), the handicapping system adds an extra challenge to get to the front in a 20-lap feature.  Hartlaub has two podium finishes in his last three trips to the Pigeon Hills oval, so a return to victory lane may not be far away.

Cappetta Has Trying Night at Lincoln

Feels Like Teams Takes One Step Forward and Two Steps Back

Abbottstown, PA – August 30, 2023

Ashley and the Cappetta Racing Team had a trying night at Lincoln Speedway for the Kramer Klash.

  • Date:  August 26, 2023
  • Event:  Kramer Klash
  • Track:  Lincoln Speedway
  • City, State:   Abbottstown, PA
  • Quick Stats:  29 cars, Heat 9th [9], A-main DNQ

New Tire Continues to Plague Cappetta and Team

Ashley Cappetta and the Gettysburg Trading Post, Mike’s Towing and Recovery, Yesteryear Antique Center, Stoner’s Auction, O’Brien’s Fuel and Service, Iron Horse Trains, Republican Club of Hanover No. 89 were back in action at Lincoln Speedway on Saturday for the Kramer Klash.

When asked to give an assessment of Saturday night at Lincoln, Ashley’s first response was, “Saturday was no good.” After two solid weekends at the track, Cappetta and the team failed to qualify for the feature for the first time this season, “Knowing we did well the past two weeks, it feels like we take one step forward and then two steps back.” While the new tire compound continues to challenge Ashley and the team, there were other factors in play on Saturday that contributed to the team’s struggles, “Some of it was me overdriving the car and some of it was track conditions. I had no drive off both corners due to wheel spin.” The team was also down a crew member. Some teams are sticking with the older compound but Ashley and the team agree switching back would just be a temporary band-aid until the new tires likely become mandatory next season.

Cappetta Takes Time to Reset After Rough Night

After a rough day, or in this case, a rough night, sometimes the best thing to do is to get away to mentally reset and that is exactly what Ashley did on Sunday, “The best thing that happened to me over the weekend was getting away and going to a concert on Sunday night. It got me away from the car and thinking about Saturday night.” Cappetta spent the night focused on the music with some of the lyrics really hitting home, “It was a good time and a much needed break.”

Teams Face Challenges Every Week That Fans Don’t See

There were quite a few factors in play that affected Cappetta, the car and the team, “On Saturday night fans saw a bad handling car but they don’t understand why or what happened.” During the week Ashley and the team worked in the shop measuring, testing and looking over everything, which is something the fans don’t get to see. The team thought they had found a way to make improvements but when they got to the track, it turns out the team was wrong, or there was more wrong than they thought with the car. It also could have been a bad batch of tires which makes it incredibly difficult for teams to pinpoint what is wrong, especially in the middle of a busy race night.

Stay tuned to Cappetta’s social media accounts, as well as Addicted2DirtPR.com/Events for the most up to date schedule information.
