Austin Berry Brings Home Top Five at Port Royal

Appalachian Mountain Late Model Speedweek Next on Agenda

Port Royal, PA – June 6, 2023

Austin Berry and his team spent a lot of hours in the shop during the past week to get their equipment race-ready following a taxing outing at Lincoln Speedway that left the Mifflin, PA super late model driver with a broken motor and some wrinkled sheet metal.

It had been a night that saw Berry pass a lot of race cars, only to end up with a DNF (did not finish) in the official results.

With a motor change complete and new sheet metal in place, Berry headed for Port Royal Speedway for a final shakedown before kicking off the upcoming Appalachian Mountain Late Model Speedweek in The Tire Mart Tire Pros of Harrisburg, Juniata Veterinary Clinic, Berry’s Siding & Seamless Gutter, SRI Performance, VP Racing Fuels, JDS Racing, Locust Hill Custom Butcher Shop, Nathan Berry Beef Farm, Addicted2DirtPR.com, A&C Racing Engines, GO Lithium, Valvoline Pro-V Racing, Super Clean, Rocket Chassis No.86.

Early Battle

Lineups for three heat races at Port Royal Speedway Saturday night were set by a pill draw.  With only 24 cars signed in, all would qualify but only the top three finishers would be handicapped to the front of the starting lineup for the night’s main event.

Berry lined up 6th for his heat race and wasted no time blasting around the high side into the 2nd spot on the opening lap.  He held the position until lap four when Bryan Bernheisel worked his way by.

With a top three finish carrying a lot of importance, Berry then found himself in a torrid battle with Mike Lupfer for 3rd.  The side by side battle went on for several laps, with Berry prevailing by just 0.145 seconds.

Back on Track

The heat race effort paid dividends for Berry who earned the feature pole as a result of the handicap format.  He took command on the opening lap with front row companion, Trever Feathers, following. By the end of lap two, the pair were side by side.

Berry fell to the runner-up spot for the next few circuits.  His Rocket XR1 was very good through turns one and two but was struggling to get off turn four the way he needed it to.  He fell to third a couple laps later.

At the halfway point, Berry found himself in 5th and he would hold that position through the checkered flag to record his second top five in his last four races.

It was nice to be back at Port (Royal Speedway) after getting out to a couple different tracks.  Was especially nice to have an uneventful night for a change.”, Berry commented.

I was happy to see that out of all the guys who stuck with the new Hoosier Saturday night, we had good speed comparatively.  I think our tire choice hurt us in the feature, but hopefully we can apply what we learned when we get back for a normal tire rule race again.  I think we will have a little bit better idea of what we need to do next time.

Kyle Reinhardt Puts Capitol and Coors in Victory Lane

Preparations Underway To Race With the All Stars During Ohio Speedweek

York Haven, PA – June 4, 2023

by Addicted2Dirt PR & Media Mgmt

It is in the books.  The first win of Kyle Reinhardt’s 2023 season and his rebuilding era has been recorded.

Reinhardt parked the Capitol Renegade, Capitol Custom Coaches & Trailers, Coors Banquet Beer, Henry’s Wrecker Service No.91 in victory lane at BAPS Motor Speedway in impressive fashion.

Is the rebuilding process complete.  No.  There’s still plenty of work to be done, but Thursday night served as a good indicator Reinhardt is on the right track.

  • Date:  June 1, 2023
  • Event:  Greg Hodnett Foundation Race
  • TrackBAPS Motor Speedway
  • City, State:   York Haven, PA
  • Quick Stats:  18 cars, Qualifying 4th in Group 1, Heat 1st (1), A-main 1st (2)

Setting the Stage

Group time trials were used to set the lineups for two heat races for the 18-car field for Thursday night’s Greg Hodnett Foundation race at BAPS Motor Speedway.

Reinhardt timed 4th quickest in Group 1, putting him on the pole for his heat race by way of the invert.  He took command from the drop of the green flag and never looked back, claiming the win and a spot in the redraw.

Getting It Done

Reinhardt drew the number two pill to get a front row starting spot for the 30-lap finale.  Again, the Neptune City, NJ native took command from the start but there was no point in the race where the competition allowed him to get comfortable out front.

Early on Dylan Norris pursued Reinhardt and challenged him as the leader caught lapped traffic.  He managed to get alongside a time or two but Reinhardt kept him at bay.  At the halfway point, Jeff Halligan moved into the runner-up spot and began to pressure Reinhardt.

The race had yet to have a caution, keeping the leaders dicing through lapped traffic.  Halligan managed to pull a slider and get out front briefly but Reinhardt turned back under the No.45 and held the lead at the line.

The first caution of the race appeared with twenty-nine laps complete and one remaining.  On the restart, with clear track in front of him, Reinhardt pulled away by a few car lengths and took the victory.

We needed that!  “, a very happy Reinhardt said.  “It’s really cool to get a win for Coors.

We had to battle back there a couple times in lapped traffic but I did what I needed to do to stay up front“.

I really have to thank my guys for their hard work and Wayne Quackenbush from Capitol Renegade Custom Coaches and Trailers.  We finally won one with him at the track.  Of course a big thanks to Coors Banquet and Henry’s Wrecker Service too.  They have all been very good to me and I could not do this without their support.“, Reinhardt commented.

I also want to thank my brother, David.  He puts a lot of effort in.

Sponsorship opportunities are available for the 2023 season.

Kyle can be contacted via [email protected].

Up Next

Reinhardt and his team will take some time off, then return on June 15th when they join the last three nights of the All Star sanctioned Ohio Sprint Speedweek.

Reinhardt will compete at Atomic Speedway (6/15), Eldora Speedway (6/16) and Portsmouth Raceway Park (6/17).  The final two races of the annual summer series pay $10,000 and $22,554 to win respectively.

Season Stats

20 races, 1 wins, 5 top 5’s, 12 top 10’s, 14 top 15’s

Trivia Question

The answer to last week’s question is… Kyle’s dog is named Murphy!

Now, on to this week’s question.  What is the cocktail Kyle enjoys making for himself?

The answer in the next press release!

Hartlaub Earns Hard Charger; First 410 Start of Season This Week

Consistency and Preparation Key to Successful Start to 2023

Abbottstown, PA – June 2, 2023

by Addicted2Dirt PR & Media Mgmt

Kody Hartlaub claimed the Hard Charger award at Lincoln Speedway Saturday night, May 20th, by executing an exciting charge from the back of the field.

On the May 19-20 weekend, Hartlaub passed a whopping total of 25 cars during competition at two central Pennsylvania tracks.  It was a flashback to the 2022 season when he often found himself working hard to overcome challenges and passing numerous cars to salvage a night.

At Lincoln, Hartlaub proved that whether he starts on the front row or near the back, he will be a factor this season in the Brewer Home Improvements, Moose Blocks, Smith Titanium, SRR Engines, Siegel Racing, T&N Solutions, Inch & Co. Real Estate, Bigham Appraisals, Pretzel Boy, HAAS Shocks, Chop Designs, Herr Electric, Hartlaub’s Furniture, Kody Hartlaub Racing No.95.

Solid Night at The Grove

Friday night, May 19th, Hartlaub was part of a 27-team field for the 358 sprint cars at Williams Grove.

The handicap format was now in place, so Hartlaub’s success thus far in 2023 put him deep in the lineup on the outside of row four for heat number two.  He managed to move up to 4th by the time the checkered flag waved on the 8-lap qualifying race.

With the feature lining up straight up from the heat race results, Hartlaub was placed 11th in the lineup for the 20-lap main event.  He raced his way to 6th in just four laps but his progress stalled there.  It was a solid night but it was his first finish outside the top five since opening day on March 26th.

Letting It All Hang Out at Lincoln

The following night, the 358 Summer Series event at Lincoln Speedway drew a quality field of 33 cars.  Four heat lineups were set by a pill draw.  The top five finishers would transfer to the A-main but only the top two would be handicapped.

The draw didn’t help Hartlaub much more than the handicap system did the night before.  Once again, he lined out outside row four for the second heat race of the night.

Hartlaub was able to surge into 5th on the opening lap but that was the limit of his progress on the narrow, early program racing surface.

The outcome of qualifying put Hartlaub behind a lot of good cars to start the A-main.  He would take the green in the 18th position.

Hartlaub’s team continued to adjust on his No.95 throughout the night, dialing it in.  Meanwhile the racing surface widened.  When the green lights flashed on for the 25-lap main event, the East Berlin, PA resident went right to work.

Hartlaub charged forward seven spots in just the first five laps.  By lap eight he had cracked the top ten.  From there, it was a methodical effort to chase down and pick off competitors.

When the checkers fell on the event and the dust had settled, Hartlaub had cracked the top five yet again, passing thirteen cars to get there.

Summing up Friday and Saturday night, Hartlaub passed a grand total of 25 cars to turn in finishes of 6th and 5th on what could have very easily been two very tough finishes outside the top ten instead.

Getting Dirty at BAPS

Last Saturday night, May 27th, BAPS Motor Speedway played host to the most lucrative Central Pennsylvania event of the season for the 358 sprint cars, the Dirty 30.

The event provided a unique chance (for 358 sprint car teams) to earn their starting spots based on their time in group hot laps, rather than at the hands of a random pill draw.  Hartlaub turned 2nd quickest in his group, with the invert putting him inside row two to start for his 8-lap heat race.

Hartlaub chased the leader for the first half of the race, then finally on lap six wrestled the lead away from race-long leader, Chris Frank, to take the win.

The win was key to Hartlaub’s night because the PA Speedweek format was in use.  That meant the heat winner and the quick timer would make the redraw for a top eight starting spot in the feature.  Since Kody wasn’t the quick timer in his group, winning was the only way.

The redraw for the A-main, dubbed the Dirty 30, went well for Hartlaub.  He drew the number two pill to get the outside front row starting spot alongside polesitter Logan Rumsey.

Hartlaub was running 2nd at the completion of the opening lap but slipped back to 3rd the next trip around.  That’s where he would be the rest of the way.  He was within striking distance of the runner-up spot much of the night but was never able to get by.

2023 So Far

The first two months of Hartlaub’s 2023 season have been remarkable.  Eight races into the season he has seven top-10 finishes, including five podium finishes, two of which are wins.

I’m really happy with our consistency and how we have been able to move from the old tire to the new tire while keeping our program where it needs to be.“, Hartlaub said.  “I’m also happy about how we adjusted and overcame our initial test session and race.  We struggled a lot those two nights but put our heads together and made changes that got us going.”

“Honestly, my only disappointment so far was at BAPS on Saturday.  Don’t get me wrong, it was still a good finish, but we went backwards.  We were just off a little.  I’d like to have that one back, change a couple things I did, and do it again.”

Up Next: 410 AND 358 Action

Kody Hartlaub will break out his 410 sprint car this week at Williams Grove Speedway on Friday, June 2nd.  He has run a few races in other cars in recent years, but this time he will be in his own car.

Last winter he purchased a new Eagle chassis.  He also picked up a used 410 engine from Danny Dietrich.

I plan to run five or so 410 shows this year at various tracks.  The goal is to get valuable seat time with the new car and just make steady progress each and every week.“, Hartlaub said.

Hartlaub tested his 410 car at BAPS Motor Speedway a couple weeks ago to get ready for his first competitive action of the season in the division.

Our goal is to move to 410’s full time in the next year or two.  We’ll have to see how things go but that’s the goal“, Hartlaub shared.

Saturday night June 3rd Hartlaub will be back in the seat of his 358 sprint car at Lincoln Speedway.

Season Stats: 358 Division

8 races, 2 wins, 6 top 5’s, 7 top 10’s, 7 top 15’s

Cappetta Takes Stepping Out of Her Comfort Zone in Stride

First Trip to BAPS in Five Years

Abbottstown, PA – May 31, 2023

by Emily Winslow / Addicted2Dirt PR & Media Mgmt

Ashley Cappetta made her first trip back to BAPS Motor Speedway in five years to compete in the Summer Series event on Saturday night.

  • Date:  May 27, 2023
  • Event:  358 Summer Series Dirty 30
  • Track:  BAPS Motor Speedway
  • City, State:   Newberrytown, PA
  • Quick Stats:  29 cars, Heat 6th [8], A-main 13th [18]

Cappetta Puts Together Solid Night in Return to BAPS

Ashley Cappetta and the Gettysburg Trading Post, Mike’s Towing and Recovery, Yesteryear Antique Center, Stoner’s Auction, O’Brien’s Fuel and Service, Iron Horse Trains, Republican Club of Hanover No. 89 were back in action on Saturday night at BAPS Motor Speedway.

Cappetta’s bad pill draw gremlin was back as she picked the highest pill available to start the night, but she did not let that put a damper on her spirits. Her pill draw put her in a solid group for timed hot laps which would line up the heat races. Ashley started eighth in her heat race and would cross the line sixth, putting her in the feature, “I didn’t feel great in the heat race. I got lucky since other people screwed up. The car wasn’t tight enough and trying to find a groove I was comfortable in was challenging.”

Ashley lined up eighteenth for the start of the feature and fell back to 23rd, “I stayed up top but there wasn’t much there so I fell back to 23rd.” Cappetta and the team took advantage of an open red during the feature to make some adjustments to the car, “We made the car tighter when we had the chance and once everyone got spread out, I started to do what I needed to do.” Cappetta got confident with 17 laps to go and drove her way up to finish 13th.

Plenty of Positives to Take Away From BAPS

One of Cappetta’s goals for 2023 was to get out her comfort zone and she did just that on Saturday night with a trip to BAPS, “We went in blind. The last time I was there we were still using the 358 wing.” The night started with timed hot laps, which were used to set the heat race line-ups. In addition to the new track, the team pulled out a car they haven’t run since last year for Saturday night.

“At the end of the night we made the show and took the car home in one piece,” which meant Ashley and the team accomplished the goals they set out to achieve for the night. In addition to meeting their goals they also have a solid notebook for the next time they race at BAPS. “Honestly, I want to do this more, it definitely helped me to learn and gain confidence as a driver.”

Steve Smith Tribute Race Up Next

A race that is near the dear to Ashley’s heart, the Steve Smith Tribute Race, is up next. “I’m putting a lot of pressure on myself for this race, my dad worked for Steve and now Stevie does my brakes. My expectation is to win, but overall wanting to do well will be our number 1 priority.” This will be the first time the 358 sprints are a part of the tribute race, “I want to do well for Steve and I want to do well for my dad.”

Stay tuned to Cappetta’s social media accounts, as well as Addicted2DirtPR.com/Events for the most up to date schedule information.

Berry’s Weekend Ends with Heartbreak at Lincoln

Port Royal Speedway Up Next on June 3rd

Abbottstown, PA – May 31, 2023

Coming off his runner-up finish at Selinsgrove Speedway, Austin Berry  planned a two-race Memorial Day Weekend, hoping to continue building his team’s momentum.

It would be a challenging path to establishing that momentum.  The stops on his weekend schedule were Bedford Speedway, a destination that has never awarded Berry with great results, and Lincoln Speedway, a facility he had never visited before.

  • Date:  May 26, 2023
  • Event:  Turk Burkett Tribute
  • Track:  Bedford Speedway
  • City, State:   Bedford, PA
  • Quick Stats:  33 cars,  Qualifying 9th Group A, Heat 6th (5), B-main 1st (1), A-main 13th (21)

  • Date:  May 27, 2023
  • Event:  Bob Leiby Memorial
  • Track:  Lincoln Speedway
  • City, State:   Abbottstown, PA
  • Quick Stats:  28 cars,  Heat DNS (2), B-main 1st (10), A-main 19th (19)

Grind It Out

Berry headed west to Bedford Speedway Friday night with The Tire Mart Tire Pros of Harrisburg, Juniata Veterinary Clinic, Berry’s Siding & Seamless Gutter, SRI Performance, VP Racing Fuels, JDS Racing, Locust Hill Custom Butcher Shop, Nathan Berry Beef Farm, Addicted2DirtPR.com, A&C Racing Engines, GO Lithium, Valvoline Pro-V Racing, Super Clean, Rocket Chassis No.86 and joined 32 other teams at the Turk Burkett Tribute race.

Berry circled the fairgrounds half-mile in 19.873 seconds, which was 9th best in Group A and placed him 5th in the starting lineup for heat race number one.  The Mifflin, PA native was unable to gain any ground in the heat race and ultimately slid to a 6th place finish, missing the transfer by one spot.

After making some adjustments for the B-main, Berry was able to capitalize on his front row starting spot to win by nearly 2 seconds.

Berry and his team continued to tweak the setup for the 40-lap A-main and it paid off.  Berry was able to work his way forward from his 21st starting spot to record a 13th place finish, wrapping up the night with something positive for the ABR notebook.

Bedford has always been a challenge for me.  Seems like I can’t put together a full night here.“, Berry said.  “I think it’s a little bit about making adjustments to my driving style.  I repeat some old (bad) habits here.  More laps here will help fix that.

We got better by the end of the night and overall, we have a better notebook here now than we ever have.  Every time I come back here it’s because I want to overcome the challenge.  I want to get this place figured out and post a podium finish someday soon.

Say It Ain't So

Saturday afternoon Berry ventured to Lincoln Speedway for the first time in his racing career.  With nothing more to go on than studying videos and a little info from some fellow racers who had more experience at the Abbottstown, PA oval, Berry was there to start building some notes for the upcoming Appalachian Mountain Late Model Speedweek.

By virtue of the pill draw, Berry was slated to start 2nd in the first heat, however during hot laps something was amiss with the carburetor or fueling system.  The team scrambled to make a change but couldn’t complete the work in time to start the heat race.

Berry’s ‘never give up’ attitude surfaced again for the B-main.  From his 10th starting spot, on a surface he had yet to make a competitive lap, Berry blasted his way all the way to 3rd by lap two, then into 2nd the following trip around.

When the field took the halfway sign in the 10-lap consolation race, Berry was out front and in command.  He went on to win by an impressive 3.7 seconds.

Berry picked up right where he left when the green flag dropped on the 30-lap A-main.  From his 19th starting spot, he reached 11th on lap six.  Berry continued to knock on the door of the top ten for the next half-dozen laps.

On lap sixteen, it all fell apart when something in the engine expired.  Berry’s official finish was 19th.

This place is different but it sure is fun.”, Berry shared with a grin after exiting his Rocket XR1.  I’ve raced other smaller places in the region like Clinton County, BAPS and Path Valley, and of course all the bigger tracks in the area like Port, The Grove, Selinsgrove and Hagerstown…but this was my first time here.“, Berry said.

“I can’t wait to come back for (Appalachian Mountain Late Model) Speedweek.  Now I know what to expect and what we need to work on.”, Berry continued.  “I’m not going to tell you I’m disappointed.  The reality is I’m mad.  We have been plagued by these kinds of issues and we need to figure out how to solve it once and for all if we are going to keep growing this team and getting better.  We can win more races but we need to be out there consistently to do it.

Halligan Produces Pair of Top Ten Finishes at Weikert Memorial with All Stars

Hodnett Foundation Race at BAPS Thursday, Back to Port Royal Saturday

Port Royal, PA – May 31, 2023

by Addicted2Dirt PR & Media Mgmt

Jeff Halligan has been very consistent over the past month.  His last four non-sanctioned races occurred at four different Pennsylvania tracks and all resulted in top ten finishes.

The arrival of the All Star Circuit of Champions at Port Royal Speedway for the annual, lucrative two-day Bob Weikert Memorial was the measuring stick the team had been preparing for.

  • Date:  May 27, 2023
  • Event:  Bob Weikert Memorial – Fallen Heroes Championship / All Star Circuit of Champions
  • TrackPort Royal Speedway
  • City, State:   Port Royal, PA
  • Quick Stats:  40 cars, Qualifying 14th, Heat 3rd (5), A-main 7th (12)

  • Date:  May 28, 2023
  • Event:  Bob Weikert Memorial – Finale / All Star Circuit of Champions
  • TrackPort Royal Speedway
  • City, State:   Port Royal, PA
  • Quick Stats:  40 cars, Qualifying 13th, Heat 7th (5), A-main 8th (17)

So Close Saturday

Halligan got his Saturday night off to a solid start by laying down a lap of 17.630, which was 14th quickest in the stout field of forty cars.

He backed that effort up by driving from 5th to 3rd in a very intense 10-lap heat race in his Risser Motorsports, TheTreeCenter.com, Victory Auto of Lewistown, EMM Sales & Service, Jake’s Golf Carts, Pine Hill Trailers, Keystone Ag Spraying No.45.

The combined qualifying effort put Halligan 12th in the accumulated points being used to lock the top twenty cars into the A-main.

Halligan converted that outside sixth row starting spot into a 7th place finish in a steady, workmanlike effort that saw him pick up a position about every five laps.

We timed well and we went forward every time we hit the track, so I’m pretty happy with our night.  Just a couple hundredths quicker in qualifying could have really set us up nicely but we had a good night.”, Halligan shared.

Bounce Back Sunday

Right out of the gate on Sunday it looked like Halligan was going to pick up where he left off the night before.  With 40 cars signed in once again, he improved his qualifying result slightly with a 13th best overall lap.

Once again it put the Ephrata, PA native inside the third row for his heat race but that’s where the similarities ended.  Instead of moving forward to make the most of the passing points system, Halligan was fighting just to hold his ground.  By the end of the 10-lap affair, he found himself in 7th.

When all qualifying points were tallied, it was still good enough to lock into the Bob Weikert Memorial finale but he would have a steeper hill to climb.

Halligan started the 29-lap A-main in the 17th position.  At the halfway point progress was slim.  He had only gained two spots.

Following a lap seventeen caution, Halligan restarted 14th.  The Risser Motorsports No.45 started to come alive.  Jeff cracked the top ten on lap twenty and continued to chip away, using a last lap pass to take possession of 8th at the finish line.

Tonight was a good rebound.  It was a good run for us in the feature after going backwards a little in the heat race.  I’m proud of this team.  You have to work for everything you get in this sport and they show that kind of fight night after night.“, Halligan shared.

Up Next

Halligan and the Risser Motorsports team will be on hand at BAPS Motor Speedway Thursday, June 1st for the Greg Hodnett Foundation Race.

A return to Port Royal Speedway on Saturday, June 3rd will round out the race weekend.

Season Stats

14 races, 0 wins, 4 top 5’s, 8 top 10’s, 11 top 15’s

Trivia Question

The answer to last week’s trivia question is Jeff Halligan won his first 410 sprint car race in 2019 at Lincoln Speedway!

Now, on to this week’s question.  What year did Jeff start racing and what did he race?

The answer in the next press release!

Reinhardt’s Home State Runner-Up Finish Highlights All Star Swing

Gains Made at Port Royal; Hodnett Foundation Race on Tap This Week at BAPS

Kyle Reinhardt hauled his Capitol Renegade, Capitol Custom Coaches & Trailers, Coors Banquet Beer, Henry’s Wrecker No.91 to his home state of New Jersey to kick off a four-race stint with the All Star Circuit of Champions on Thursday night, June 25th, at Bridgeport Motorsports Park.

Going home is always nice and in this case, it seemed to do a lot of good for Reinhardt.  He put together a very solid night that ended with a runner-up finish.  He was looking to continue that trend as the series rolled into central Pennsylvania for the holiday weekend.

100th Career All Star Main Event Start

With twenty-seven cars on hand Thursday night, Reinhardt clicked off the 5th fastest lap overall to get his night started on the right foot.  The qualifying effort put Reinhardt on the pole of the night’s third and final heat race.

Scotty Thiel shared the front row for the heat race.  He dove hard under Reinhardt going into turn three on a tenacious opening lap but Kyle was up to the challenge.  He turned back under Theil in turn four to take command.  He never looked back and went on to win the race by 1.6 seconds over Anthony Macri.

Reinhardt drew the number four pill for the dash.  He would finish in that 4th spot, giving him the outside row two starting spot for the 30-lap A-main.

The Neptune City, NJ native held a solid grip on the 3rd spot for much of the main event after a heated early batter with Hunter Schuerenberg.  A restart with twelve laps remaining saw Reinhardt get by Freddie Rahmer for 2nd but Rahmer battled back in turn four.  The exchange almost led to a spin by Reinhardt but he gathered the No.91 back up and rejoined the battle.

The near-disaster left Reinhardt in 6th on lap twenty.  Three laps later he was back up to 3rd and was clearly on a mission.  He wrestled the runner-up spot away from Schuerenberg with three laps remaining, then began to close the gap on leader Tyler Courtney.

Reinhardt was 3-tenths of a second quicker than the leader but there wasn’t enough time left to mount a challenge without the aid of a caution.   He crossed the line with a 2nd place finish.

Should’ve won that race.  I had a really good car.“, Reinhardt said.  “After that restart when Freddie (Rahmer) and I exchanged sliders, it took the air off my nose and I almost spun.  I dropped a few spots and had to spend a few laps getting that track position back.  Ran out of time to try to catch Tyler (Courtney).

The finish was a fine way to celebrate Reinhardt’s 100th career All Star main event start.

The Grove

Back in Pennsylvania at Williams Grove Speedway for a Friday night show with the All Stars, Reinhardt recorded the 6th quickest lap in Group A qualifying.  The lap left him with a bit of a hole to dig out of for the night.

The challenges continued in the heat race when Reinhardt was unable to improve his position, slipping back one spot to a 7th place finish and landing in the B-main.

Reinhardt found some of his speed in the B-main, leading wire-to-wire and winning the last chance race to put his Capitol Renegade, Capitol Custom Coaches & Trailers, Coors Banquet Beer, Henry’s Wrecker No.91 in the show.

In the 30-lap A-main, Reinhardt continued his rebound, advancing from his 21st starting spot to a 14th place finish.

We have had good speed here at the Grove all year, so I was a little disappointed we didn’t qualify better tonight.  We finally got going later in the night and salvaged something out of the night.“, Reinhardt commented.

The Speed Palace

Back in early April, Kyle Reinhardt made a trip to Port Royal Speedway and recorded a top ten finish, so there was reason to come into the two-day Bob Weikert Memorial with some positivity that the struggles of the last couple seasons at ‘The Speed Palace’ were behind him.

There were 40 teams signed in Saturday night and the night started off reasonably well for Reinhardt when he turned the 17th best lap in qualifying.  Things went a little off track in the heat race however, as he faded from his 4th starting spot to finish 9th.

The night ended early for Reinhardt when big adjustments for the B-main yielded similar results, a 9th place finish from a 7th place start.

Sunday was a new day and a new approach for Reinhardt.

An unfavorable draw set Reinhardt as the 36th of 40 cars to hit the track for the single-flight qualifying.  His lap put him 25th in the results.

Reinhardt started on the front row of his heat race and was able to lead the opening lap before ultimately winding up 3rd.

The Bob Weikert Memorial uses a qualifying and passing points system to set the field.  Reinhardt’s total after the heat race ranked him 20th overall, good enough to lock into the A-main.

At the end of the 29-lap finale, the distance set in honor of the legendary car owner’s long-time number, Reinhardt finished 20th.

The good news is we made the race tonight (Sunday).  We were terrible last night, but we made some gains tonight.  Port Royal has been a challenge for us the last couple years.  We’re getting closer.“, Reinhardt shared.

Sponsorship opportunities are available for the 2023 season.

Kyle can be contacted via [email protected].

Up Next

BAPS Motor Speedway is Reinhardt’s lone destination this week.  On Thursday, June 1st he will compete in the Greg Hodnett Foundation race at the York Haven, PA speedway before taking the weekend off.

Season Stats

19 races, 0 wins, 4 top 5’s, 11 top 10’s, 13 top 15’s

Trivia Question

The answer to last week’s question is… it is TRUE that Kyle Reinhardt won a feature event at Port Royal Speedway in a 360 sprint car!  The victory occurred during PA Speedweek in 2019 when he piloted the John Westbrook No.1w to the win in the URC portion of the program on Wednesday, July 3rd!

Now, on to this week’s question.  What is Kyle’s dog’s name?

The answer in the next press release!

Feathers Weekend Cut Short After Promising Start at Bedford

Team Regrouping for Return to Port Royal Speedway June 3rd

Port Royal, PA – May 29, 2023

The only way to get better is to race, but that has been a struggle.  The weather over the past few months has erased a number of opportunities for Trever Feathers to go racing.  It’s been difficult to get into any kind of rhythm.

Feathers and the Larry Royston Racing team were looking forward to their first three race stint with stops at Bedford, Lincoln and Potomac over the Memorial Day weekend.  This time, the story unfolded a little differently but with a similar outcome.

Feathers and the Hot Rod Septic Treatment, Larry Royston’s Septic Services, Martins Pumping Service, McFarland Custom Painting & Wall Coverings, North River Farm, Clem’s Garage, Leggett Engine Research, Feathers & Sons Roofing, Coffelt Graphics, Larry Royston Properties, Larry Royston Equipment, Bilstein Shocks, Hoosier Tire Mid-Atlantic, Bo Feathers Racing, Barry Wright Race Cars, No.20 were among 33 entries for Friday night’s Turk Burkett Tribute at Bedford Speedway.

The Winchester, VA wheelman got his night and weekend off on the right foot.  He turned in the 2nd quickest lap in Group A qualifying, putting himself on the pole of heat race number two.

Feathers led the first three laps of the 8-lap event but settled for a 2nd place finish behind Kyle Lee.

Positives Despite Disappointment

The top two finishers from each heat race participated in a redraw to set the first four rows of the main event starting lineup.  Feathers drew the number three pill, putting himself inside row two for the 40-lap finale.

Feathers raced inside the top five for the opening half of the race and was running a solid 5th on lap 25 when the engine went sour and he dropped off the pace.  The good night ended and disappointment moved in abruptly.

It’s no secret Bedford is not one of my best tracks, so we feel pretty good about timing well and racing really well before the issues.”, Feathers said.

There were definitely positives out of Friday night.  The car is getting better.  Now we just have to deal with the engine issue and make sure we can keep going the right direction.  Just stinks we had to miss the rest of the weekend to get regrouped.

Unwanted Days Off

Feathers and his team held out hope they would get their backup engine in place and carry on with their plans to race at Lincoln Speedway.  Those plans soon adjusted to skipping Lincoln to be ready to race Potomac on Sunday, but when additional problems were uncovered, the team was forced to abandon their plans for the remainder of the weekend.

Up Next

Feathers and the Larry Royston Racing team are regrouping and expect to be ready to return to Port Royal Speedway on Saturday night, June 3rd.

Season Stats

Zach Newlin Puts on Thrilling Show at BAPS Motor Speedway

Next Up:  358 Summer Series event at Williams Grove Speedway

Mechanicsburg, PA – May 29, 2023

Zach Newlin may not have won the Dirty 30 show at BAPS on Saturday night, but he certainly gave the fans a show.

It was a night of challenges that on paper didn’t look like it was shaping up to be a success story, but Zach Daddy picked off the competition lap after lap as he charged from the back of the field in the A-main to nearly take home a top five finish.

  • Date:  5/27/23
  • Event:  358 Summer Series Dirty 30
  • Track:  BAPS Motor Speedway
  • City, State:   York Haven, PA
  • Quick Stats:  29 cars, Qualifying 6th Group 1, Heat DNS, B-main 5th (10), A-main 6th (23)

Early Troubles

Newlin and the Manchester Hydraulics, Marlow’s Metal Fabrication, Safety Kleen, Lee Chassis Repair & Components, Will’s Lawncare, Mansberger Motorsports No.21m were part of a 29 car field that signed in for BAPS Motor Speedway’s Dirty 30 race, an annual event for the 358 sprint cars that offers a well above average purse for the division.

Group timed hot laps set the heat lineups for the night, which put Newlin outside the 3rd row in heat number three.  As the Millerstown, PA native rolled onto the speedway for the qualifying race, something was amiss on the Mansberger Motorsports No.21m and he returned pit-side.

The diagnosis, a disconnected spark plug wire.  It was too late however and Newlin missed his heat race.

Relegated to a 10th starting spot in the B-main, Newlin raced his way in by advancing to a 5th place finish.

The Comeback

Newlin had partially recovered his evening by turning a missed heat race into a main event start, but he wasn’t done yet.

Zach Daddy, as he is known to fans, started 23rd after squeaking in through the B-main.  It didn’t take long for fans to see Newlin had a far better car than his starting spot might have suggested.

By lap five Newlin had already surged forward into the 14th position.  From there on he chipped away, claiming another spot every couple laps.  Fans watched the battle at the front of the field but had one eye on Newlin as he sliced through traffic.

Newlin cracked the top ten with a big move, 11th to 8th on lap fourteen.  As the race entered its final five laps, Newlin moved into 6th after being stalled in 7th for ten circuits.  He appeared to need one more trip around to claim a top five finish but the checkered flag ended the impressive run with a 6th place finish.

We are finally figuring this thing out.  That’s the best we have had the car since I’ve been in the seat.  I think these new tires have actually helped me feel more comfortable.“, Newlin said, referring to the new line of Hoosier sprint car tires that teams have had to switch to this season.

It has been noticeable in recent outings that Newlin, along with brother Lance on the wrenches of the Mansberger ride, have made strides.  It has showed in their performance.  Newlin was the hard charger at Williams Grove earlier in the month, then backed that up with a podium finish there just a week ago.

Appreciation

The Dirty 30 has become an annual event nearly every 358 sprint car team circles on their calendar.

I want to thank Bill Devine and everyone who puts this event on.  It’s a great race for the 358 division.  I really enjoy running it and the team appreciates the opportunity to race for money that makes a real difference to our season.“, Newlin commented.

Up Next

Zach and the Mansberger Motorsports team will return to Williams Grove Speedway on June 9th for a 358 Summer Series race.

Trivia Question

The answer to our last trivia question is Newlin was dubbed ‘Zach Daddy’ by BAPS Motor Speedway announcer Dave Hare!  Look for a future story from Addicted2Dirt PR with more details on the backstory of the notable nickname!

Now, on to this week’s question!  What is the name of Zach Newlin’s racing-related business?

The answer in the next press release!

Kyle Keen Motorsports and Keen Parts Partnership Rolls On

Abbottstown, PA – May 26, 2023

by Addicted2Dirt PR & Media Mgmt

The partnership established last season between the Kyle Keen Motorsports 358 sprint car team and Keen Parts/CorvetteParts.net has been rolling on through second season together.

Contrary to popular belief, there is no blood relationship between them.  A happenstance meeting brought them together, a friendship formed and a partnership was born.

Racing Tradition

Keen Parts is no stranger to auto racing.  The Ohio-based business has a long history of partnerships with  racers at every level, from NASCAR to drag-racing television stars on Street Outlaws: New Orleans.

Owners Tom and TJ Keen enjoy racing so much, they sponsor several teams and have done so for many years, often through their alternate business name, CorvetteParts.net.  They have successfully partnered with familiar names in NASCAR and ARCA racing like Earnhardt, DiBenedetto, Lajoie, Boat, Tiff and Mullins.

Kyle Keen, his father Shawn and late grandfather Jesse also have a steeped tradition in racing.  Their history in dirt track sprint car racing is a well-documented one that is centered in Central Pennsylvania but whose reputation extends well beyond those borders.

Tom, TJ, Shawn and Kyle all have a rich tradition and a track record of success in racing, so it comes as no surprise a partnership was born.

About Keen Parts

Keen Parts is a leading manufacturer and retailer of Corvette parts and accessories.  They have over thirty years of happy customers all over the world.  While other companies sell parts for Fords and Volkswagens, all Keen Parts does is Corvette parts and accessories.

Keen Parts is still that same family-owned company they have been since day one. They are not a huge impersonal corporation. They are large enough to have the Corvette parts and Corvette knowledge you need, and small enough to help.

CorvetteParts.net is their website alter-ego.  With over 26,000 Corvette parts and accessories, they have what you need.  They stock parts available for Corvettes from 1953 to the present.  Keen Parts is not an anonymous Corvette website. Their retail shop and warehouses are located in Cleves, Ohio just north of Cincinnati.

Keen Parts is proud of what they sell and proud of what they do. Their Corvette parts are on cars displayed at the National Corvette Museum, Concours d’ Elegance winners, and Bloomington Gold winners. They stock both new and used (original) parts. If you cannot locate what you need on their comprehensive website at www.keenparts.com– call their knowledgeable staff at 800-757-KEEN (5336).

Common Ground

The sprint car racing partnership all started through a chance meeting with sprint car driver Kyle Keen in early 2022.

“At the time I was working for a marketing company in the evenings. I received a phone call on my lunch break and Tom Keen was on the other line. I immediately knew who he was from watching NASCAR, and from that point forward we really hit it off, and never looked back. It was fun to share the same last name, and I joked with Tom, calling him my long lost uncle. We really try to keep it fun.”, Kyle shared.

Tom and TJ are also familiar with the Central Pennsylvania area.  They come to the Carlisle Fairgrounds twice each year for shows like ‘Corvettes at Carlisle’, which are key events for their business, Keen Parts.

I’m looking forward to continuing to build this fun relationship with Tom and TJ.  I can’t thank them enough for supporting my dream and my passion of racing sprint cars.  They are incredible people and obviously big race fans, so I’m looking forward to what the future holds with them., Kyle commented.
