Kyle Reinhardt Strong Early Against Outlaws at Grove

BAPS Motor Speedway the Lone Event on Weekend Calendar

Kyle Reinhardt has been fast and produced consistent results across the Central PA region thus far in 2023, recording nine top-ten finishes in the eleven unsanctioned shows at five different tracks.

The World of Outlaw’s three-race, early-May swing through Pennsylvania was the first real opportunity to measure the ongoing rebuilding of his program.  You could say it was time for the first exam of the year.

Could've Been

Reinhardt was part of a stout field of 41 cars that entered the Gettysburg Clash Wednesday night at Lincoln Speedway (PA).  His qualifying lap was good for 12th quick in Flight 1, a tick slower than he needed to start within a top five transfer spot in his heat race.

Reinhardt’s time, just 0.025 seconds off a top ten qualifying run, was good enough to start 6th in his heat, certainly within striking distance of an A-main transfer.

At the drop of the green, Reinhardt charged into the 4th spot, then just as he had positioned himself to claim 3rd, a yellow flag appeared and negated the entire start.  The caution changed the course of Reinhardt’s night.

The full restart didn’t go nearly as well for the Capitol Renegade, Capitol Custom Coaches & Trailers, Henry’s Wrecker No.91.  Reinhardt did hold down the 5th and final transfer spot until the midpoint of the qualifying race but ultimately lost the spot and finished 6th.

Reinhardt had one more shot to transfer to the main event.  He started 5th in the 12-lap B-main and needed to secure a top four finish to move on.  The race did not unfold as hoped for Reinhardt.  He lost two spots on the opening lap, then lost two more late in the race, putting him 9th in the final rundown and bringing an end to his night.

Strong Start

Friday night was a chance to hit the reset button.  Reinhardt rolled into Williams Grove Speedway where he has been very competitive thus far in 2023, logging two top fives and finishing in the top ten in all four races he has entered.

Reinhardt’s speed at ‘The Grove’ was evident from the outset.  He ripped off the 7th quickest lap in flight one qualifying, putting himself 4th in his heat race starting lineup.

He then proceeded to power into 3rd in the opening corner of the heat race.  He withstood some pressure from Lance Dewease and held the spot to the checkered flag.

Reinhardt lined up 9th for the 25-lap A-main, looking to secure a career-best finish with the top traveling series in the country.

Things didn’t play out quite as planned.  It quickly became clear that the adjustments Reinhardt made for the finale were not what his car needed.  He slid back a few spots on the opening lap, then a few more about six laps into the event.  The slide continued as Reinhardt fought the ill-handling machine until finally retiring with ten laps remaining.  He was credited with a 23rd place finish.

Summing It Up

Obviously we struggled at Lincoln.  We need to work on getting better there on the new tire.“, Reinhardt said.

The numbers do reflect Reinhardt’s challenges at Lincoln this year compared to other tracks.  He does have one top ten finish, but his average finish prior to Wednesday was 17th, while over at Williams Grove his average finish going into the weekend was 7th.

We had a great night going at the Grove until I tuned my car right out of the ballpark.  Disappointing finish to a good night.“, Reinhardt shared, taking the responsibility squarely on his own shoulders for the adjustments that led to his A-main performance.

Unfortunately, Reinhardt didn’t get another shot to put the full night together.  Saturday night’s Morgan Cup finale at Williams Grove Speedway fell victim to the weather.

Sponsorship opportunities are available for the 2023 season.

Kyle can be contacted via [email protected].

The only event scheduled for the upcoming weekend for Reinhardt and the Capitol Renegade team is the Kevin Gobrecht Classic Qualifier Sunday evening at BAPS Motor Speedway in York Haven, PA.

Kyle Keen Hangs Tough With URC at Bedford Before Issues

Williams Grove Return Slated for Friday

Abbottstown, PA – May 16, 2023

by Addicted2Dirt PR & Media Mgmt

Kyle Keen has had good speed so far this season.  Most weeks he has been in a good position with an opportunity to take his night down a path toward a positive result.  A driver can’t ask for much more than that.

Mechanical issues and mistakes, two things all drivers want a chance to go back and do differently, are a just a part of the sport.  Keen has certainly experienced both.  Those are the things that take your night down the wrong path, away from opportunity.  Those are the things teams work so hard to minimize.

The only way to get better at both is to race.  Rather than sit at home over the weekend and not get better, Kyle Keen and his team decided they would load up and haul to Bedford Speedway Friday night to compete with the URC.

  • Date:  May 12, 2023
  • Event:  Fast Friday Racing with URC
  • Track:  Bedford Speedway
  • City, State:   Bedford, PA
  • Quick Stats:  14 cars, Heat 3rd (3), A-main 11th (4)

I Hate Surprises

Keen and his Fine Line Auto Body, Keen Parts/CorvetteParts.net, Doubling Gap Ranch, Shetron, Auction & Equipment, LLC., Wicked Dog Grille, Heishman Racing Fuels, Wicked Cushion, DL Lehman Construction, Gearhead Coffee, Jeremy Zarfos Photography, Coyle’s Lawn Maintenance, 2B Wrapped, 4 Leaf Clover Farms, Turn 2 Terribles Podcast & Media, Kyle Keen Motorsports No.17 started inside row number two for his heat race by virtue of his pill draw.

Although every driver wants to win every race they enter, with all cars transferring from both heats due to the short field, Keen was under no pressure in the heat race.  The laps were all about learning what the car needed for the feature later in the evening.  The Carlisle, PA native finished 3rd but was clearly using his track time to his advantage.  He turned his fastest lap of the event on the final circuit.

Keen started 4th in the 25-lap A-main but slipped to 5th in the early going.  For a handful of laps, he slipped back to 6th but around lap twelve the car came to life using the high side of the speedway.

Keen climbed back into 5th on lap twelve and began to run down the 4th place car despite noticing the brakes fading a bit on his No.17.  Unfortunately, that’s when he got an unexpected surprise.  For some reason, the car jumped out of gear.  As he tried to bring the car to a stop, Kyle discovered the brakes were completely gone.  That sequence of events brought an end to his night.  He officially finished 11th.

Well, tonight was another night of having a fast race car but not really having anything to show for it at the end of the night.“, Keen commented.  “We learned a lot about the new tire and we had a fast car, so there are definitely positives to take away from tonight.”

“If we keep doing what we are doing and putting in the work to eliminate the little issues and mistakes, it will come together for us one of these nights!”, a positive Keen concluded.

Trivia Question

The answer to the last trivia question is Kyle Keen’s stepped out of the seat in 2021 and spent the season serving as crew chief for Kenny Heffner’s 305 sprint car!

Now, on to this week’s question.  What two sports did Kyle Keen play in high school?

The answer in the next press release!

Austin Berry Turns Luck Around With Runner-up Finish at Selinsgrove

Battle with World of Outlaws On Tap This Weekend

Selinsgrove, PA – May 16, 2023

by Addicted2Dirt PR & Media Mgmt

Austin Berry’s challenges thus far in the 2023 season are well-documented.  When compared to the expectations set by their 2022 achievements, nobody would blame him or his team for throwing their arms in the air, grumbling and kicking something.

But that’s not who Austin Berry Racing is collectively as a team.  If there is any team in the pits who knows how to face adversity, grit their teeth and work harder to overcome it, this is the team.  It’s not as easy to remain as calm and collected as this team seems able to be when the oddest, most unusual issues happen.

One thing is for sure though.  When you take the approach they do and combine it with very modest resources, the successes are sweet when they come.

  • Date:  May 14, 2023
  • Track:  Selinsgrove Speedway
  • City, State:   Selinsgrove, PA
  • Quick Stats:  23 cars,  Heat 2nd (2), A-main 2nd (1)

Selinsgrove Shuffle

Berry and his team made the 45-minute tow north on Route 35 to Selinsgrove Speedway for Sunday evening’s show.  They were among a field of 23 that may not have been big in numbers but had plenty of quality.  They were all there to take their shot at the $4,000 winner’s share.

From his starting spot outside the front row of the second heat race, Berry charged into the lead on the high side of turns one and two in The Tire Mart Tire Pros of Harrisburg, Juniata Veterinary Clinic, Berry’s Siding & Seamless Gutter, SRI Performance, VP Racing Fuels, JDS Racing, Locust Hill Custom Butcher Shop, Nathan Berry Beef Farm, Addicted2DirtPR.com, A&C Racing Engines, GO Lithium, Valvoline Pro-V Racing, Super Clean, Rocket Chassis No.86.

Berry held a commanding lead until the caution appeared at the halfway point of the 8-lap contest.  On the restart his tires didn’t quite ‘fire’ as quickly as he needed.  It was just enough for Dylan Yoder to slip around the high side off turn two to take the lead.  Berry would ride home 2nd, still in a redraw spot.

Positive Vibes

At the redraw for the top qualifiers, Berry told his daughter, Natalie, to pull a good pill for him.  She listened well and pulled the pole position for the 25-lap feature.

When the race went green, Berry beat his front row mate, Yoder, to turn one to claim the early lead.  He proceeded to put a few car lengths between himself and the field while Yoder and Coleby Frye battled to see who would get to take a shot at Berry.  On lap four, Frye won that battle and set his sights on the leader.

Berry continued to lead, keeping Frye at bay with confident moves through lapped traffic.  As the race approached the halfway mark, Berry had a run through turns three and four.  As he approached a lapped car, he went to the high side to clear the traffic.

At that moment the lapped car got sideways.  Frye went low and Berry went high, both making light contact with the spinning lapped car as they blasted by.  Frye emerged with the lead at the flag stand and the lapped car corrected course and continued on.

Had the lapped car stopped and brought out the caution before the leader reached the flag stand, the lap would not have counted and Berry would have retained the lead .  That however, is not how it played out.

Instead, Berry pursued Frye, closing on him multiple times.  He was unable to find an opening to take the top spot away and had to settle for a 2nd place finish just a mere 0.779 seconds behind Frye.

After the last couple weeks we have had, we’ll take it.  It’s been kind of rough for us lately.  It’s good to have something positive for a change.“, a happy Berry said in victory lane.  “I really want to thank all the great people that help us out.  Greg and everyone at The Tire Mart Tire Pros of Harrisburg.  They are great people and they can handle anything you need for your car.  They have been huge for us and we love being partners with them.

Thanks to Michaela and everyone at Juniata Veterinary Clinic, Randy and the folks at SRI, VP Race Fuels, Davey at Locust Hill Custom Butcher Shop, and all of our product partners.  We could not do this without them.  My most important partner tonight though was my daughter Natalie.  She nailed that redraw.  I think the job is hers from now on.”, Berry concluded with a big smile.

Be sure to scroll down to watch the team’s YouTube video recap of this week’s race!

Hartlaub Captures Second Win at Lincoln After Podium at Williams Grove

Team Will Enjoy a Weekend Off Before Tackling Grove and Lincoln Again May 19-20

Abbottstown, PA – May 12, 2023

by Addicted2Dirt PR & Media Mgmt

The 358 sprint car season in Central Pennsylvania is certainly off to a strong start for Kody Hartlaub.

If finishing on the podium at Williams Grove on Friday is what it takes to be victorious at Lincoln Speedway on Saturday night, Kody Hartlaub might take that deal every time.  Might.  So far in 2023 it has worked twice.

Back on April 7th and 8th that’s exactly how it played out for Hartlaub’s first win of the season.  On May 5th and 6th Hartlaub did it again.

  • Date:  May 5, 2023
  • Track:  Williams Grove Speedway
  • City, State:   Mechanicsburg, PA
  • Quick Stats:  31 cars, Heat 1st (1), A-main 3rd (3)

  • Date:  May 6, 2023
  • Event:  National Fallen Firefighters “Guise-Little Memorial”
  • Track:  Lincoln Speedway
  • City, State:   Abbottstown, PA
  • Quick Stats:  38 cars, Heat 3rd (3), A-main 1st (2)

Clean Air

By virtue of a favorable pill draw, Hartlaub found himself on the pole of his heat race Friday night at Williams Grove Speedway.  Even from the front row, nothing is guaranteed.  He would still need to earn his way into the redraw by securing a top four finish.  Worst case, he needed a top six finish to transfer.

Hartlaub took advantage of the clean air that comes with being out front, commanding the point for all eight laps and winning by four seconds over the runner-up, veteran Frankie Herr.

The redraw result put Hartlaub inside row two for the 20-lap main event.  At the drop of the green, Chad Chriswell used the high line to drive into 3rd and drop Hartlaub back to 4th.

As the field settled into a rhythm, Hartlaub turned very consistent 19.3-19.4 second laps and remained hot on the heels of third place.  When the race entered the final ten circuits, the East Berlin, PA driver wrestled 3rd away from Chriswell.  He would go on to hold on to that podium spot at the checkered flag.

Wire to Wire

Saturday night it was back to Lincoln Speedway for Hartlaub and his team, the sight of their first win of the season the last (and only) time the 358 sprint cars were able to get a race in at the Abbottstown facility so far this season.

An even larger field than the night before signed in to compete.  Four heat races and a B-main would whittle the 38 cars down to the top 24 for the main event.  Each heat race would transfer five, with the top three going to the redraw.

Hartlaub started 3rd but had to fight to hold on to the valuable redraw spot.  At the midpoint of the 10-lap qualifying race, Nash Ely got by and dropped Hartlaub to 4th.  As Ely continued his march forward to the runner-up spot, Hartlaub pursued and assumed the 3rd spot by getting by Tyler Rutherford.  He held on to the spot to the checkered flag, officially securing a spot in the redraw.

Starting on the outside of the front row for the 20-lap finale, Hartlaub wasted no time taking command.  The Brewer Home Improvements, Moose Blocks, Smith Titanium, SRR Engines, Siegel Racing, T&N Solutions, Inch & Co. Real Estate, Bigham Appraisals, Pretzel Boy, HAAS Shocks, Chop Designs, Herr Electric, Hartlaub’s Furniture, Kody Hartlaub Racing No.95 looked like it was on a rail.

By lap nine, veteran Doug Hammaker had moved into the runner-up spot and was doing everything he could to close the gap and get a shot at Hartlaub.  He was able to get close on one or two occasions.

Hammaker slid Hartlaub in turns three and four but Hartlaub was up to the challenge.  He turned back under Hammaker and reclaimed the lead before the pair reached the flag stand.  Officially Hartlaub led ‘wire to wire’ as they say as he held on for his second consecutive victory at the Pigeon Hills oval.

Summing Up the First Five

People keep asking me what we have changed.  It sounds crazy but I honestly don’t know how to explain it (the recent success).  We were absolutely terrible when we practiced at BAPS (Motor Speedway) in late March and we weren’t very good a couple days later when we raced there.“, Hartlaub commented, referring to his first practice and race of the season at BAPS Motor Speedway.

What that first week did was force us to go back to the shop and rethink things.  We had changed cars from last year.  A lot was different from 2022 really.  In our four races since then, we have 2 wins and haven’t been off the podium.

Hartlaub is now five races into his 2023 season.  He is currently 2nd in the championship point standings at Williams Grove Speedway (PA) and he sits atop the standings at Lincoln Speedway (PA).

I have been fortunate with draws so far but they don’t hand you the win for starting up front.  You have to be ready to take advantage of those.  I think that’s the difference for us this year.  We have been building our program, improving our components and paying attention to every detail.  Plus, I think I’m making less mistakes behind the wheel right now.“, Hartlaub explained.

I have to thank Pat (Brewer), my dad and everyone else who helps me with this deal.  They are a big part of the reason our program has kept steadily improving.

Up Next

Kody Hartlaub and his team will enjoy a weekend off, then return to competition at Williams Grove Speedway on May 19th and Lincoln Speedway on May 20th for a 358 sprint car Summer Series event.

Season Stats

5 races, 2 wins, 4 top 5’s, 4 top 10’s, 4 top 15’s

Trivia Question

Kody Hartlaub won the Williams Grove Speedway Rookie of the Year award in the 358 sprint car division in 2022!

Now, on to this week’s question.  Kody Hartlaub currently resides in East Berlin, PA but what is his hometown?

The answer in the next press release!

Keen Flashes Speed All Weekend, Garners a Top Ten

Weekend off Will Be Followed by Return to Williams Grove

Abbottstown, PA – May 10, 2023

Coming into the month of May, Kyle Keen still didn’t know much about his racecar.  He had a top ten in the season opener at BAPS Motor Speedway, but that was a daytime surface that took rubber.  His next stop, at Williams Grove Speedway, was a DNQ thanks to electrical issues.  Then Mother Nature showed up and erased pretty much the rest of April.

Finally, it was time for back to back races Friday and Saturday under sunny skies.  It was time to see what they had.

  • Date:  May 5, 2023
  • Track:  Williams Grove Speedway
  • City, State:   Mechanicsburg, PA
  • Quick Stats:  31 cars, Heat 3rd (1), A-main 8th (8)

  • Date:  May 6, 2023
  • Event:  National Fallen Firefighters “Guise-Little Memorial”
  • Track:  Lincoln Speedway
  • City, State:   Abbottstown, PA
  • Quick Stats:  38 cars, Heat 4th (5), A-main 20th (15)

Gimme a Brake!

Keen’s night at Williams Grove opened with a friendly pill draw that put him on the pole of his heat race.  He lost the race to turn one, settling into 2nd and working to keep pace with the leader while feeling out his Fine Line Auto Body, Keen Parts/CorvetteParts.net, Doubling Gap Ranch, Shetron, Auction & Equipment, LLC., Wicked Dog Grille, Heishman Racing Fuels, Wicked Cushion, DL Lehman Construction, Gearhead Coffee, Jeremy Zarfos Photography, Coyle’s Lawn Maintenance, 2B Wrapped, 4 Leaf Clover Farms, Turn 2 Terribles Podcast & Media, Kyle Keen Motorsports No.17.

On lap six Derek Locke slipped by Keen, dropping the Carlisle, PA native to 3rd but in the end it wasn’t important.  Keen finished 3rd but the top four finishers made the redraw.

In the 20-lap A-main that closed out the night, Keen started 8th but immediately turned heads by charging into the top five by lap three.  He held a firm grasp on the spot to the halfway mark.  It was at that point a brake issue cropped up.

Keen fought hard to maintain his track position by altering his driving style to offset the loss of braking power.  He managed to only lose two spots over the next eight laps, then one more on the final circuit, landing him in 8th at the checkers.

Tonight was a much needed night for our team. We were up to 5th but unfortunately a brake line came loose and I had no brakes the rest of the way.  It’s too bad.  The car was really good.  I had great speed.  I’m just glad I was able to hold on and finish 8th.  It’s another top 10 for us this year and a step in the right direction.”, Keen commented.

Lesson Learned

Saturday night brought a stout field of 38 teams to Lincoln Speedway in Abbottstown, PA for the National Fallen Firefighters “Guise-Little Memorial” race.

Keen started 5th in his heat race and blasted his way to 2nd in the early going, but before the field could be scored at the line, he got a little out of shape and slipped all the way back to 5th.

Never one to hang his head or dwell on his mistakes, Keen refocused and continued the battle.  Without the aid of a caution, he managed to claw his way to a 4th place finish.  A top three finish would have put Keen in the redraw with a shot to start close to the front, but instead he would take the green for the feature from 15th.

Keen was never able to build any forward momentum in the 20-lap A-main.  The tires just didn’t seem to ‘fire’ as they say and he slipped back a few spots on the opening lap.  He remained mired in traffic throughout and crossed the line in 20th.

I made a mistake that derailed our night.  After I drove from 5th up to 2nd in the heat the cushion bit me and it cost me two spots, so I ended up 4th and out of the redraw.“, Keen shared.

In the feature we just missed a few small things on the setup with adapting to the new tire in the slick.  The good news is we learned a lot about the new tire this weekend, so I’m really looking forward to hitting the track again soon. Just need to keep working on our small track driving and setup, but we will get there!

Up Next

Kyle Keen will take the upcoming weekend off, then return with to Williams Grove Speedway on Friday, May 19th.

Trivia Question

The answer to the last trivia question is Kyle Keen’s decided to go 305 sprint car racing after having success playing iRacing, a very popular online racing simulation video game.

Now, on to this week’s question.  In 2021 Kyle took a year off from driving a sprint car, but he was still involved in the sport.  What role did he take on that season?

The answer in the next press release!

Berry Hard Charger at Port Royal After Tough Night at Bedford

First Selinsgrove Speedway Visit of 2023 Up Next

Port Royal, PA – May 10, 2023

During the 2022 season, Austin Berry finished in the top ten of 44% of the races he competed in.  After a winter of hard work fine-tuning their program, he and the rest of the ABR team were aiming to pick up where they left off and continue to build toward the next level of consistency.

Although Berry did open the 2023 season with a top-ten finish at Port Royal Speedway, the next two outings resulted in finishes of 20th or worse.  Then Mother Nature intervened for three weeks, preventing the team from rebounding.

As the month of May opened and the sun shined above, Berry and his team readied for a two-race weekend that would hopefully be the start of getting their groove back.

Bedford Hospitality

Austin Berry made a rare Friday trip to Bedford Speedway to compete in the $8,700 to win Billy Winn Classic.  It was the first of a handful of trips planned to the fairgrounds speedway this year.  Group time trials and heats would whittle the 30-car field down to 24 and set the lineup for the lucrative super late model event.

Prior to the evening’s action, Berry was invited to the the judges stand for a quick interview with track announcer, and former late model racer himself, Eric Zembower.

Zembower talked with Berry about his race team, the improvement in recent years and his first victory at Port Royal Speedway.  He also provided a platform for Berry to share his Pancreatic Cancer awareness message and talk about his personal reasons for being a champion for the cause.

Enough Gremlins Already!

During Berry’s last outing on April 8th, he had encountered a spark plug issue.  The week before that it was a mechanical issue.  After that, making the race and running 25 laps tonight, regardless of his finish, was all it would take to count it as a success.

From the outset, his goal seemed like a longshot.  Yet another ‘gremlin’ arose as he hit the track for his qualifying laps under the clock.  Berry’s engine would not quite get up to ‘full song’.  As a result, he wound up at the bottom of his group.

Berry’s team went to work to remedy the issue for his heat race but they were unable to get back to full power.  After starting 9th, Berry only managed to get to 7th by the checkered flag.

The team managed to get Berry’s Rocket XR1 running well enough for him to run 3rd in the B-main and secure a starting spot in the 50-lap feature, but it was not quite 100% so rather than risk causing further issues Berry retired from the finale after just six laps.  He was credited with a 23rd place finish.

Never. Give. Up.

After a late night trip home from Bedford and a short night of rest, the team returned to the shop early in the morning to tackle their issue and get ready for Port Royal that night.  A carburetor change  was deemed necessary for The Tire Mart Tire Pros of Harrisburg, Juniata Veterinary Clinic, Berry’s Siding & Seamless Gutter, SRI Performance, VP Racing Fuels, JDS Racing, Locust Hill Custom Butcher Shop, Nathan Berry Beef Farm, Addicted2DirtPR.com, A&C Racing Engines, GO Lithium, Valvoline Pro-V Racing, Super Clean, Rocket Chassis No.86.

Saturday’s program at Port Royal Speedway drew a field of 30 cars and the format called for group time trials, with no hot lap session.  With no opportunity to find out if their repairs had resolved their issues, Berry took to the track for his qualifying run.  He quickly found out the issue persisted.  His lap landed him next to last on the charts.

The symptoms seemed to indicate an issue somewhere in the fueling system, so Berry’s team went back to the drawing board and made some changes, including a fuel pressure adjustment, before his heat race.  With the entire focus on the continuing gremlins, there was no time to worry about tires or setup.  Mission critical was to get back to full power.

Berry was able to advance from 10th to 8th in the heat race.  He emerged from the car indicating it had power again, now they needed to get to work on their setup.

In the 10-lap B-main, Berry advanced from 5th to 3rd, looking strong and smooth.  The run was good enough to be in the show.  Now it was time for more adjustments and find out what he could do in the feature.

In the 25-lap A-main it was apparent Berry and his team had finally chased the gremlins away.  The Mifflin, PA native turned in a smooth and steady climb from his 21st starting spot, climbing seven spots and claiming a 14th place finish on the final lap.

It wasn’t a top five or a top ten but after what we have been battling the past few races, I’ll definitely take it.  It feels good to pass cars and be competitive.”, Berry said.

“Now let’s see if we can put a string of good runs together ang get back to finishing where we should be.”

Cappetta Gains Confidence

The National Fallen Firefighters Race “Guise-Little Memorial” is a Special Night for Cappetta

Abbottstown, PA – May 9, 2023

by Emily Winslow / Addicted2Dirt PR & Media Mgmt

Ashley Cappetta and her team made their second start of the season at Lincoln Speedway and despite a 17th place finish, Cappetta and the team have a positive outlook heading into their next race.

  • Date:  May 6, 2023
  • Event:  National Fallen Firefighters “Guise-Little Memorial”
  • Track:  Lincoln Speedway
  • City, State:   Abbottstown, PA
  • Quick Stats:  38 cars, Heat 6th [9], B-main 3rd [3]; A-main 17th [23]

Second Race of the Season Builds Team Confidence

Ashley Cappetta and the Gettysburg Trading Post, Mike’s Towing and Recovery, Yesteryear Antique Center, Stoner’s Auction, O’Brien’s Fuel and Service, Iron Horse Trains, Republican Club of Hanover No. 89 were finally back in action on Saturday night at Lincoln Speedway after a rainy month of April.

Cappetta, in sticking to her goals for the season, did not let a bad pill draw put a damper on her night. Ashley lined up ninth for her heat race and got a good initial start. Unfortunately, the red came out which resulted in Cappetta lining up on the outside for the restart, “Coming out of 4 I ended up in the air. It happened so fast I didn’t even realize what happened. I didn’t have much of an option other than staying on the gas to get back on all four tires.” Cappetta would continue on to finish sixth in the heat, one spot shy of qualifying for the feature. Ashley started and finished third in the B-main putting her in the main event. Cappetta lined up 23rd for the 20-lap feature and would cross the line 17th.

Despite Results Cappetta has Positive Take-away from Saturday

“The car felt great all night. We had speed this weekend,” according to Cappetta. The improvements were likely somewhat due to fixing the issues they found with the car after the season opener. Ashley continued, “All in all if we had been able to start up front, we would have been able to finish up front. I actually had fun. Of course, I don’t love finishing in the back but it gave me confidence. It gave everyone on the team a confidence booster.”

Fallen Firefighters Night Holds a Special Place in Cappetta’s Heart

Ashley’s Uncle Jim used to be a firefighter and up until his surgery last year he was still involved with the fire police, and service men and women hold a special place in her heart, “This race is important to me because these people put their life on the line for people they don’t know.” The first year they held the National Fallen Firefighters race Ashley ran a special car design to honor fallen firefighters and the rest is history as she has put something special on the car for every iteration of this race. Through the years Ashley has become friends with the Little and Guise families and actually pursued being a volunteer firefighter with United Hook and Ladder herself. In the end, racing and her thriving business kept her from completing her training. “I love how they get the drivers and fans together; it makes the race even more special and I can’t wait to see it grow in the future.”

Stay tuned to Cappetta’s social media accounts, as well as Addicted2DirtPR.com/Events for the most up to date schedule information.

Cappetta will return to Lincoln Speedway on Saturday, May 20 at 7PM.

Feathers Building Confidence From Gains at Port Royal

Hometown Race Ahead This Weekend at Winchester Speedway

Port Royal, PA – May 9, 2023

by Addicted2Dirt PR & Media Mgmt

Trever Feathers rolled into Port Royal Speedway Saturday afternoon after being sidelined by Mother Nature for three consecutive weekends.  A break like that does not work to the advantage of a team that needs to race more, not less, to find the right combination for success.

It has been a roller coaster ride over the first two months of the season.  One race in early March, then a three week break.  Three races in early April, then another three week break.  Hopefully May will bring a steady diet of opportunities to dial in Feather’s Barry Wright Icon chassis.

  • Date:  May 6, 2023
  • Track:  Port Royal Speedway
  • City, State:   Port Royal, PA
  • Quick Stats:  30 cars, Qualifying 8th overall, Heat 3rd (3), A-main 12th (8)

Finally Back At It

The format at Port Royal Speedway Saturday evening was set to mimic the World of Outlaws Late Models program as a means of preparing teams for the upcoming visit by the traveling organization.

With a stout field of 30 cars pit-side, Feathers kicked off his night on a positive note by logging the 8th fastest lap overall.  The qualifying effort landed the Winchester, VA native in the 3rd starting spot for his heat race, giving him a solid shot at one of the top two redraw spots.

Feathers held his ground over the first two circuits, trying to find a rhythm and the best groove at the same time.  In the process, he slipped back to 4th on lap three.  He battled back to reclaim 3rd the following lap but was unable to close the gap on runner up Jeff Rine before the checkered flag fell.

One Step at a Time

Starting the 25-lap feature event from outside row four, Feathers had his sights set on earning a top five finish, but he found himself in a defensive mode during the opening laps rather than in attack mode.

By lap four Feathers had dropped to 11th.  He continued to struggle and lost another spot a few laps later.

Finally, around the halfway mark of the race, his car started to come alive.  He turned his fastest lap of the race and began to reel the top ten back in.  As good as the car was at that point, it was too much ground to make up in the caution-free race.

Feathers ended the night with a 12th place finish in the Hot Rod Septic Treatment, Larry Royston’s Septic Services, Martins Pumping Service, McFarland Custom Painting & Wall Coverings, North River Farm, Clem’s Garage, Leggett Engine Research, Feathers & Sons Roofing, Coffelt Graphics, Larry Royston Properties, Larry Royston Equipment, Bilstein Shocks, Hoosier Tire Mid-Atlantic, Bo Feathers Racing, Barry Wright Race Cars, No.20.

Well, we finished the race and we didn’t get lapped.  The way things have been going, that was the first goal.  I may have set the bar a little low for myself but at least we did that.”, Feathers chuckled.

Even though that wasn’t our best finish of the year here, that was the best I felt so far.  We are finding some balance in the car that I think we can build on.  It’s not really a secret that we stayed on the old tires mostly so far this year.  We did that so we had one less variable to deal with while we were dialing this thing in.”

Up Next

This Friday, Feathers will take the night off for some family time to celebrate his son’s birthday.

Saturday night he and the Larry Royston Racing team will visit their hometown track, Winchester (VA) Speedway looking to get back in the win column at a place where he has a a lot of success over the years.

Season Stats

5 races, 0 wins, 1 top 5’s, 2 top 10’s, 4 top 15’s

Trivia Question

The answer to our last trivia question is Trever Feathers raced his first full season in a limited late model in 2010?  He had picked up his first limited late model win the year before while racing a partial schedule.

Now, on to this week’s question.

Since his first full racing season in 2010, how many total late model wins (limited and super combined) has Trever Feathers collected?  We will make it multiple choice to help you out a little!

Is the answer…

A.  30 – 39 wins

B.  40 – 49 wins

C.  50 – 59 wins

The answer in the next press release!

Zach Newlin Collects 358 Sprint Hard Charger at Williams Grove

Team Will Return to Williams Grove May 19

Mechanicsburg, PA – May 9, 2023

Zach Newlin and the Mansberger Motorsports 358 sprint car team have been battling through a very tough stretch that spans back into their 2022 season.

Despite having good equipment, a knowledgeable crew and a driver that knows how to win races, they have faced a number of unusual and unlucky challenges.  It’s not an uncommon story in sprint car racing but that doesn’t make it any easier to overcome.

  • Date:  5/5/23
  • Track:  Williams Grove Speedway
  • City, State:   Mechanicsburg, PA
  • Quick Stats:  31 cars, Heat 6th (9), A-main 11th (16)

A Little Luck Please

When Newlin signed in and drew his pill Friday night at Williams Grove Speedway, he had to be thinking ‘here we go again’.  His draw put him 9th on the starting grid for his heat race.  While a top six transfer spot was probably within reach, a top four redraw spot seemed pretty far-fetched against the level of competition that signs in at ‘The Grove’.

With his work clearly cut out for him, Newlin didn’t waste a moment getting to work in his heat race, charging into 7th on the opening lap and to 6th by lap four.  Climbing further was a tall task in the night’s opening 8-lap heat race on a still somewhat narrow racing groove.  He settled for the 6th place finish and a transfer in the Manchester Hydraulics, Marlow’s Metal Fabrication, Safety Kleen, Lee Chassis Repair & Components, Will’s Lawncare, Mansberger Motorsports No.21m.

Charging Hard

Newlin started the 20-lap A-main deep in the field in 16th.  Once again, the Millerstown, PA driver got right to business, climbing two spots on the opening lap.

‘Zach Daddy’ as he has been nicknamed over the years, temporarily slipped back to 15th for a few circuits but reclaimed 14th by lap seven.

Newlin continued his forward progress, closing the next gap and taking over the 13th spot on lap eleven.  The No.21m was clearly coming to him and getting faster.  The two cars in front of Newlin raced side by side, stranding the faster Newlin behind them for a few laps and stalling his progress as the laps clicked off.

Finally, on lap nineteen Newlin wrestled the 12th spot away and then went after the No.6 of Cody Phillips.  Newlin took 11th away from Phillips on the final circuit to end up 11th, plus five on the night.

The effort was enough to earn Newlin the Hard Charger award for the night.

Man, it felt like we passed twice that many cars tonight.  The racing was so close.  Felt like everyone was so even.“, a worn out but happy Newlin said.

We had a great car in the second half of the race tonight.  I was turning laps as fast as the front runners, we were just buried too deep.  That’s the best I have felt this season.  I think we have found some balance that we can build on.”

Up Next

Zach Daddy and the Mansberger Motorsports team will return to Williams Grove Speedway on Friday, May 19th.

Reinhardt Demonstrates Team’s Progress With Another Pair of Top Tens

Three Rounds with World of Outlaws on Deck

Abbottstown, PA – May 9, 2023

Kyle Reinhardt started showing improved performance late in the 2022 season.  Now, a dozen starts into the 2023 season, he has proven it was no fluke.  The changes he made to his program and the decisions he is making each week have the Capitol Renegade, Capitol Custom Coaches & Trailers, Henry’s Wrecker No.91 running at the front of the field on a weekly basis.

Reinhardt stated during the offseason last winter that his team would be rebuilding, and they would need to make the most of their available resources.  They certainly have done both very well over the first two months of the season.

The team continues to seek another key partner to come on board and help them take the program to the next level.  Reinhardt has certainly demonstrated he deserves consideration from potential suitors.

Tune-Up Part 1

With the Morgan Cup, the annual Spring battle between the PA Posse and the World of Outlaws on the horizon, Friday night at Williams Grove Speedway served as the last chance for teams to build their notebook and prepare their gameplan.

In three starts at ‘The Grove’ this season, Kyle Reinhardt has a pair of top five finishes and has not finished worse than 9th.  On Friday night he was just a little off, placing him 12th quickest of the 25 cars on hand.

Reinhardt was able to convert his 4th starting spot in his heat race into a 3rd place finish.  The run provided him with a starting spot just inside the top ten for the night’s finale, with a chance to earn another top five finish.

It wasn’t to be.  While Reinhardt did score yet another top ten finish, it wasn’t satisfying for the Neptune City, NJ native.

Tune-Up Part 2

Saturday night at Lincoln Speedway also served as a final preparation opportunity for teams at the Abbottstown, PA facility before the upcoming Gettysburg Clash with the World of Outlaws.

Reinhardt was among the thirty teams who opted to take advantage of that opportunity.  He started off his night with a strong qualifying run, timing 5th best in the field of thirty.

The time trial run put Reinhardt on the pole for his heat race and he didn’t miss a beat.  He raced out to an early lead and stayed there, winning with a 1.6 second advantage over the runner-up.

Reinhardt started the 35-lap A-main outside the third row after pulling the six pill in the redraw.  Instead of finding his way forward into the top five, he found himself slipping back a couple spots.  He ultimately settled into the 10th spot on lap eleven and that is where he was mired through the checkered flag.

I’m disappointed in our weekend to be honest.  We were just off all night last night at Williams Grove.  We were really good here tonight (at Lincoln) but then I was just too free in the feature, so we didn’t get the result either night that we’re capable of.“, Reinhardt said.

Sponsorship opportunities are available for the 2023 season.

Kyle can be contacted via [email protected].

Up Next

Reinhardt and the Capitol Renegade team will do battle with the World of Outlaws three times in four days in Central Pennsylvania.

First up will be the Gettysburg Clash at Lincoln Speedway Wednesday night, May 10th.

That will be followed by the traditional two-day Spring battle between the Outlaws and the PA Posse, the Morgan Cup, which will take place at Williams Grove Speedway on Friday and Saturday nights, May 12th and 13th.

Season Stats

12 races, 0 wins, 3 top 5’s, 9 top 10’s, 10 top 15’s

Trivia Question

The answer to last week’s question is Kyle’s favorite hobby away from the racetrack is mountain biking!

Now, on to this week’s question.  At what track did Kyle Reinhardt claim his first All Star Circuit of Champions victory?

The answer in the next press release!
