Jackson sweeps Selinsgrove and Path Valley weekend; Williams Grove double duty up next

Tony Jackson and Scott Hess Racing continued their recent hot streak in wingless competition over the weekend, picking up a pair of victories at Selinsgrove Speedway and Path Valley Speedway.

The double dose of victory lane makes it three consecutive wins for Jackson and Hess Racing, as the team also scored a victory the weekend prior during its lone night of competition at Path Valley.

“Our wingless program is so good right now that it seems like we’ve got a chance every time we hit the track,” said Jackson. “To win three in a row is a pretty special thing, and it just shows how hard the team has been working. I can’t thank Scott and the guys enough for the car they give me to race.”

Jackson kicked off the weekend at Selinsgrove Speedway, where he lined up fourth and charged his way to the front to score the victory. The team then headed to Path Valley Speedway, and Jackson once again proved to be a force in wingless competition.

Starting deep in the field from the ninth position, Jackson impressively carved his way through the pack and ultimately found his way to the front, completing the weekend sweep and extending the team’s winning streak to three.

“About a month or so ago, we switched one of our older cars to be used for winged racing, as I was really comfortable in it and I wanted it for the Sportsman 100,” said Jackson. “So we rolled out a newer car for wingless racing, and we’ve just been chipping away at things, and it’s starting to show. The car just felt really good all weekend, and we’re reaping the rewards.”

Jackson and Scott Hess Racing will look to continue their recent string of consistency and speed this Friday at Williams Grove Speedway, where Jackson is slated for double-duty action. He will compete in both the winged and wingless Sportsman divisions as the team looks to add another strong showing to its recent run of success.

With three consecutive wingless victories already in hand, Jackson and Hess Racing will head to the Grove carrying plenty of momentum into the next challenge on their schedule.

“It’s a little late in the year to be playing catch-up, but I just feel like we haven’t gotten a chance to run nearly as many winged shows as we’d wanted to,” said Jackson.

“Whether it be Mother Nature or other conflicts, we’ve just been behind a bit in our winged program. We’ve got some time still to figure out the motor and car, but hopefully we can take some of the stuff from the wingless car and apply it to the winged car, and maybe next week we’ll be talking about two more wins.”

Battling Variables: Ross Racing Driven to Recapture Consistency

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Lincoln University, PA – August 5, 2026

by Addicted2Dirt PR & Media Mgmt

Image Credit:  Jeremy Zarfos / WRT Speedwerx

Ross Racing driver Tyler Ross says the team has identified key reasons results have been inconsistent over the past several weeks, and the immediate focus is on returning the racecar to its “happy” place.

Moving Target

Ross explained that the recent stretch included multiple challenges that went beyond typical race-to-race adjustments. The problems started after a June 20th incident at Lincoln Speedway, when Ross got upside down. The team made the decision to skip Path Valley Speedway on June 21st so they could focus on necessary repairs and prepare for Speedweek. During Speedweek, Ross was involved in another incident at Grandview Speedway, and the cumulative effect of those events ultimately changed how the car responded to setup adjustments.

“When the chassis flexes in an incident, it can change things more than most people realize,” Ross said. “It’s still straight, but we are finding we do have to do some things a little different with it to make it happy. A happy car means a fast car.”

Setup, Components, Confidence

Ross noted the team tore the car down after the incidents and had it checked to ensure everything critical was true. While the chassis remained straight, the team found that the flex the frame had experienced was going to require them to make setup adjustments.

During the tear down and rebuild, the team found component-specific issues such as a bent torque tube, and they have continued to work to eliminate possible weaknesses, including freshening up their shock program.

Another Variable Added

When the team went back to racing with the car, Ross said there was an additional variable to manage: the World of Outlaws events at BAPS Motor Speedway (July 29th) and Williams Grove Speedway (July 31st) were the first times at those tracks with the current motor program.

While Ross didn’t elaborate on exactly what differences his new motor brings to the table, we can generally explain the impact a motor can have on setup.  Numerous performance ‘behaviors’ of a motor, such as whether it emphasizes low-end speed, which helps acceleration off the corner, or top-end speed for the end of the straightaway, cause the chassis and suspension to react differently. This requires specific setup adjustments to optimize handling for the new power characteristics.

Bright Spots Along the Way

Despite the recent challenges, Ross highlighted key moments that validated the team’s ongoing development. A strong 20th-to-7th run at Lincoln Speedway on June 22nd served as a testament to the team’s ability to overcome obstacles, while a 15th-place finish at BAPS Motor Speedway against the World of Outlaws on June 29th underscored their competitiveness in high-level fields. These performances provided both data for the team’s technical notes and a morale boost for everyone involved.

“Runs like that remind us that our team is capable, and we just need to keep battling,” Ross said. “Even if things don’t go right early in the night, it’s possible to bounce back and finish the night strong.”

Mindset Forward

Despite the ups and downs, Ross highlighted that the team is continuing to build momentum and keep Tyler sharp behind the wheel. Following the Speedweek stretch, Ross and the team returned to action at Lincoln Speedway on July 11th and July 22nd.

Additionally, Tyler gained valuable seat time and a boost in confidence through strong runs in the McGough No. 669 URC 360 sprint car at Port Royal Speedway (July 1st) and Selinsgrove Speedway (July 10th).

While confidence has taken a hit during the inconsistent stretch, Ross emphasized the team’s mindset remains firmly forward.

“Confidence is down, but determination isn’t,” Ross said. “We are rebuilding and going over the car again before Lincoln on August 8th. There’s a lot of racing left, and we will bounce back.”

Fans Invited: Upcoming Pabst Light Appearance

Ross Racing is also excited to welcome fans to an upcoming promotional appearance featuring new partner Pabst Light and Ace Distributing. Tyler Ross and the Ross Racing No. 5 car will be at Valley Green Beverage, located in Newberry Commons in Etters, PA, on August 15th from 11:00 AM–2:00 PM. Tyler will have hero cards to hand out and will be happy to greet fans for autographs and photos.

Lane Snook Showing Speed with Mixed Results in July

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Port Royal, PA – August 5, 2026

by Derick Kriner / Addicted2Dirt PR & Media Mgmt

With the race season already flying by in what has been a whirlwind season for the young racer, Lane would have the month of July to race all three cars he’s been running in the late model ranks. Results have been all over the board, but speed has been a consistent piece most nights.

Kicking off the month of July, Lane would get to wheel the Bruce Kane 15K at Bedford Speedway. The pairing of Kane and Lane was still very new, and the package was still lacking a little speed. Snook would go 8th to 7th in the heat, and the 13th to 12th in the feature. “Car was handling good, just had no speed.” This would be the only start in the 15K for the month.

Moving onto the next night of competition on the 10th, Lane went to Selinsgrove in the limited late model division. Lane nearly won his heat from 5th and then started in the 5th spot in the feature. As the green flew, he would drop back a few spots at the beginning of the feature.

Snook started to search around the track for speed and, “ran the very top to make our way back to 4th with a restart with 6 to go.” That was a timely caution for Snook. He “was able to get to third off the restart, then get by the two leaders coming to 2 to go, for the win.” A great performance and certainly showed the continued speed of the limited program that fans witnessed park in victory lane a lot in 2025.

The following evening, the team had a home game at the Port Royal Speedway in the limited car. Lane would win his heat and then start on the pole of the feature.

Didn’t get a good enough start to get to the top early and lost a few spots. Ended up running 4th most of the race, then with a car breaking and a couple restarts we ended up 3rd. I just felt like our car wasn’t very balanced.”

After taking a little damage at the end of the race and getting that fixed up, the team also decided to drop a super motor in the car and head over to Path Valley the following weekend.

Against ULMS at the small ¼ mile of Path Valley, Lane would have a very solid evening, timing in 2nd in his group and winning his heat. The track would make it a little tricky for Lane in the feature. After starting 3rd, Lane “got stuck on the bottom again early and lost a few spots. It was a little tight at the beginning, but the car was good at the end of the race, but with there being little passing, we ended up 6th.

Snook would then go to Hagerstown to once again race with ULMS. The car was just a little off all night by the driver and team’s standards. “Qualified 11th in our group. Started 6th and ran 5th in our heat, which put us on the pole of the B-Main, where we finished 2nd. Then started 20th in the feature and finished 17th. Just kind of struggled to find speed all night.”

Aside from races that featured mechanical issues, this was Lane’s worst finish of the season in the 23 car with the super under the hood. The team would, however, turn things around the rest of the month and pick up momentum.

Traveling back over to Selinsgrove in the super the next week, Lane qualified 2nd overall and won his heat. After rolling from the pole in the feature, Snook “led the first 19 laps, dicing through traffic, until we blew a right rear tire.

An unfortunate moment for the young racer. “I lapped to 12th, so I got back to 10th in the remaining 6 laps after changing the tire.” The first super late model triumph would have to wait for another time.

In the final show of the month, Lane would travel west to Bedford Speedway as the fair and races took center stage. Lane started 6th in his heat and had a little hiccup and tagged the wall, but still managed a 4th place finish.

After the crew and I got the car fixed, we started 11th in the feature. The car in front of me broke on the first lap in 1-2, and I had nowhere to go, and ended up falling back to 15th. I ran the top to get back to 9th, then with another car breaking, I got to 8th and finished there,” Snook explained.

“I felt we had a much better car than the results showed, but it was hard to pass once everyone moved to the top.” It was a good bounce-back after early misfortune, and showed the car could move forward even with a tricky track surface.

The next night, Snook would travel back over to Selinsgrove to open the month of August. Lane started off the night strong and timed in 2nd and then won his heat. With a front row starting spot in the feature, Lane would be in a good position to potentially win. Lane once again took the lead at the drop of the green. He was able to maintain the top spot until a restart with about 10 laps to go, where he got passed. Snook held on to finish second and tie his best finish of the season in the super late division.

Overall, the month of racing was nothing super special in terms of results, but the speed the team and driver were able to find at times shows that the package is coming together on a wide variety of tracks. Netting a win and strong podium with the limited, and accruing several top 10 finishes in the super, Lane looks to keep the positives coming in August.

As of now, the 23 car will be in action at the big half-miles of Selinsgrove and Hagerstown on August 7th and 8th. Then it will head to Bedford on the 14th. Snook also plans to run at Port Royal on the 22nd, in either the 23 or the 15K.

The last weekend of the month, the 15K will come out to race against the Lucas Oil Late Models in the Rumble By The River at Port. Lane will be getting that car ready this week.

We took the car I ran at Lernerville and Bedford to Rocket. It was bent in the front end; got that all fixed now, gonna go put it together this week.”

Snook also mentioned he is “very excited to test in the next couple of weeks coming up” as they prepare for some big shows in the coming months.

Make sure to check the team’s website (LaneSnookRacing.com) and Facebook page for any schedule updates or changes.

Preston Lattomus Applying Lessons, Refining Race-Day Execution

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Lewes, DE – August 5, 2026

by Addicted2Dirt PR & Media Mgmt

After building confidence during Pennsylvania Sprint Speedweek, Preston Lattomus has remained a constant presence on the Pennsylvania 410 sprint car scene. Over the last few weeks, Lattomus has taken on an aggressive schedule, competing at Lincoln Speedway, Williams Grove Speedway, and Port Royal Speedway, with the latter being against the High Limit Racing regulars.  Over the past week, he added outings against the World of Outlaws at BAPS Motor Speedway and Williams Grove Speedway.

These recent weeks have served as a rigorous learning experience for the Capitol Custom Trailers and Coaches, EZGO Golf Carts, Betts Garage No. 91 team. While the results have fluctuated, the team has used every feature, heat, and qualifying session to collect vital data. Lattomus has noted that while the car speed is there, the focus for the remainder of the season is on refining race-day execution—turning that speed into consistent, top-tier finishes.

Frustration After Too Many Mistakes

At BAPS on July 29, competing with the World of Outlaws, Lattomus qualified 15th and finished 4th in his heat race. In the A-main, however, he struggled to find rhythm early and fell to the back, eventually going a lap down.

I was pretty frustrated with myself after BAPS; I just felt that I made way too many mistakes to get myself stuck in the back and end up getting put a lap down,” Lattomus said.

He added that the car was capable of much better than the final result, stating, “I had a car capable of running way better but just didn’t get to show it.

Bad Start, Tough Track Conditions

On Friday at Williams Grove Speedway, Lattomus turned in an 11th-place effort in Flight A qualifying and moved into the heat from the 6th starting spot. But from the start, the race unfolded in the wrong direction, and he finished 9th in the heat—unable to recover.

With the track conditions, it was hard to gain back what we lost even though I was faster than most of the guys in front of me,” Lattomus explained, noting that getting put in a bad spot at the start proved costly.

Opportunities Up Front Until Late-Tire Trouble

Saturday at the Grove was a more encouraging storyline through the majority of the feature. Lattomus transferred through the heat and started the A-main in the 16th position, positioning himself to make moves as the laps progressed.

Preston said he felt he had the opportunity to race higher—until late-race misfortune ended the night.

I had opportunities to move forward and make passes. A few different decisions and I think I could have been racing for a top 10 instead of a top 15,” he said.

Unfortunately, the run ended early.

With about 10 laps to go, I had a left rear tire go down and wasn’t able to finish the race,” Lattomus explained.

Formats:  The Goal Stays the Same

Even with the World of Outlaws structure, Preston said the team’s approach doesn’t change—the focus remains the same from the first timing lap through the heat.

My approach definitely doesn’t change with their format because it’s always the same goal of lay down the best lap possible for qualifying, and get everything I can in the heat,” Lattomus noted.

Finishing Better, More Frequently

Going into the next stretch, Preston emphasized that he is feeling really comfortable in the car—now it’s about turning that into better finishing results through smarter decisions and cleaner execution.

I want to be finishing better than I have. I have the car and capabilities to do so. I am confident it will come very soon and very frequently,” he stated.

We as a team are always looking to improve, but I don’t think we are really far off when it comes to the car most nights. I have been very comfortable the last couple of races, just not making the right decisions.”

Upcoming Schedule

The No. 91 team will continue its summer campaign with a return to Williams Grove Speedway in Mechanicsburg, PA, on August 7, followed by a trip to Lincoln Speedway in Abbottstown, PA, on August 8. The team will then head to Hartford, Ohio for an event at Sharon Speedway on August 12.
