In an announcement that’s sure to strike a chord with Central Pennsylvania race fans, Ashley Cappetta is set to carry one of the most iconic looks in Central PA racing history through the remainder of the 2025 season. Cappetta will pilot a throwback version of the famed Apple #12 in the 358 sprint car division, paying tribute to her racing hero Greg Hodnett, with support from longtime Central PA sprint car owner and sponsor Bob Stewart.

Originally built to pace the field at the Greg Hodnett Classic at Port Royal Speedway, the Apple #12 tribute car was only intended to make a one-off appearance. The striking red-and-white machine — complete with the smiley apple and Apple Chevrolet branding — captured the attention and emotions of fans and the racing community alike. That reaction, coupled with encouragement from Stewart and others close to Hodnett’s legacy, has brought the car back in full force for 2025.

“What started out as just a tribute has grown into something really special,” said Cappetta. “The plan was to honor Greg at Port Royal and then again at Lincoln for the Weldon Sterner Memorial, and that would be it. But the fan interaction, Bob’s interest, and the emotion tied to seeing that car on track again — it was too meaningful to stop there.”

Cappetta recently raced the car at the rescheduled 2024 Sterner Memorial at Lincoln Speedway, where she finished fourth in the feature. “It felt like fate,” she shared. “My crew drew the 12 pill, Bob was there, I won my heat, and I just kept thinking — maybe this isn’t done yet.”

Following a Sunday conversation with Stewart, the two agreed to keep the Apple #12 on track for the rest of the season — with its classic look preserved and Cappetta’s sponsors integrated into the design. The original Apple car’s stripes, color scheme, smiley apple, and signature #12 will all remain, while new logos will be added in non-disruptive locations.

“It’s a car that means everything to me,” Cappetta said. “Greg Hodnett wasn’t just a driver I admired — he’s the reason I fell in love with racing. I met him as a kid in 2004 when he was driving this car, and my uncle Rob, who introduced me to sprint cars, built the motors for the 12 back then. This is part of my story.”

Cappetta reached out to Sherry Hodnett before moving forward with the full-season plans. “Sherry has always known how much Greg meant to me, and she was genuinely happy about it. I think we both feel like this is a way to keep his legacy alive.”

Although the car will proudly carry Cappetta’s name on it for fans’ recognition, the hood will continue to list Greg Hodnett as the driver — a subtle but powerful symbol of the legacy that continues to inspire her every lap.

This partnership also marks the return of Bob Stewart to a more prominent presence in the sport. Stewart, who previously owned the Apple 12 team, and has sponsored Ashley previously in her career, steps back in as a primary sponsor for Cappetta in this emotional and respectful revival.

“This wasn’t supposed to happen,” Cappetta admitted. “This was just going to be a tribute. But now here we are — and I’m honored, overwhelmed, and ready to make the most of this opportunity. I know I can never be Greg, and Bob doesn’t expect me to be — but I want to make him, Greg, my crew, and all my sponsors proud.”

Plans are already in the works for new merchandise featuring the Apple #12 tribute design, with shirts expected later this season.

Weldon Sterner Memorial Recap: A Special Night in the Apple 12

Last Saturday’s Weldon Sterner Memorial was an emotional and meaningful night for Ashley Cappetta, both on and off the track. While a trip to victory lane would have been the icing on the cake, Ashley walked away with a strong fourth-place finish in just her third outing with a new crew chief. She also picked up a heat race win, earning a $100 bonus and a gallon of cider from Mickley’s Orchard & Farm.

The event held special significance as Ashley piloted the iconic Apple Motorsports No. 12—a car deeply tied to her childhood and her favorite driver, Greg Hodnett. “That car wasn’t just any car to me,” she said. “It was a part of my childhood, my inspiration.” The moment was made even more special with longtime Apple 12 car owner Bob Stewart in attendance, marking one of his first trips to the track in years—just to see the 12 car on the track again. “He told me after I took the lead in the heat, he started to tear up,” Ashley said. “That meant the world.”

Ashley praised the fan support and the atmosphere around the event, which included a fan zone meet-and-greet before the races. “That’s what I loved as a kid—meeting drivers—and it’s important to give that opportunity to the next generation of fans,” she said. With Lincoln Speedway staff helping behind the scenes, Ashley was able to focus on giving feedback to her new crew, something she’s been prioritizing this year.

Despite a few early challenges in the feature, she battled back from sixth to finish fourth. “The car kept getting better,” Ashley said. “I think that last caution hurt our momentum, but I’m still proud of how we performed.” Preparation at the shop has stepped up this year, including focusing on consistent maintenance—changes she feels are already paying off.

ABOUT  ASHLEY CAPPETTA

Ashley Cappetta is a second-generation racer following her uncle’s footsteps. She started her racing career in 2012. It was her first year piloting her race car but certainly not her first exposure to the sport. She was introduced to racing by her father, who was Steve Smith’s crew chief. Her uncle, Rob Cappetta was also involved in the sport driving his own #89 sprint car and went on to be a gasman for Robert Yates Racing. Ashley is making her own way by being the first female in her family to set center stage as a driver. Ashley has had a couple of years of sprint car experience with various teams, starting out as a crew member doing such simple tasks as scrapping mud to advancing her skills into doing maintenance for her own race car. Ashley showing her success with not only her abilities working on her race car but also by winning a Hard Charger Award in only her first season racing. Ashley feels she has the best of both worlds by not only knowing how to race but by having the knowledge of the mechanics and being able to provide detailed feedback to her team. Her goal is to continue to grow as a racer and work her way up through the sprint car division.

Adapting to Challenges: Preston Lattomus on Qualifying, Learning, and Growth

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Abbottstown, PA – April 23, 2025

by Addicted2Dirt PR & Media Mgmt

Photo Credit:  Jeremy Zarfos / WRT Speedwerx

Preston Lattomus said from the beginning that his rookie campaign in a winged 410 sprint car would be all about seat time.  The more laps, the better.

He’s right.  The tough Central Pennsylvania sprint car scene can be unforgiving, and the only way to assimilate is to keep playing the game until you understand all the nuances and get really good at it.

So far in April, Lattomus has competed at three different tracks in a total of five events.

“I’m not where I want to be, but we have been experiencing something new almost every week.  It’s either a new track for me in a 410, or even if I have been there before, it might have been a day race, and the next time it’s a night race.”, Lattomus explained.

“I’m just trying to make features and get the maximum number of laps I can each night out because that’s the fastest way to learn.”

QUICK RESULTS:

  • Date/Location:  April 4, 2025 – Williams Grove Speedway, Mechanicsburg, PA
  • Stats:  Heat 8th (8), A-main 16th (19)
  • Date/Location:  April 5, 2025 – Lincoln Speedway, Abbottstown, PA
  • Stats:  Heat 10th (4), A-main 20th (23)
  • Date/Location:  April 13, 2025 – BAPS Motor Speedway, York Haven, PA
  • Stats:  Group Qualifying 5th, Heat 6th (5), B-main 6th (3)
  • Date/Location:  April 18, 2025 – Williams Grove Speedway, Mechanicsburg, PA
  • Stats:  Group Qualifying 14th, Heat 8th (7), B-main 7th (11)
  • Date/Location:  April 19, 2025 – Lincoln Speedway, Abbottstown, PA
  • Stats:  Qualifying 24th, Heat 8th (8), A-main 18th (23)

One of the key differences that Lattomus is working to adapt to is qualifying under the clock, often referred to as time trials.  That was something that was pretty rare in the 358 sprint car division.

“I need to qualify better and put myself in a position to race with better cars.  Racing with the experienced, veteran drivers makes you better.”, Lattomus said.

“In 358’s, I came to the track knowing I could win any given night.  I had the confidence because I had raced a lot, and I knew how to achieve that.  Already this season, my thinking has changed to being a student of the game.”

Lattomus has good support in his pit to help him on his journey.  Scott McClaren, who made a lot of the decisions and adjustments for the 358 team, is still there.  Kyle Reinhardt, who recently stepped out of the seat after ten successful years in a 410 sprint car, is also there.  Reinhardt collaborates with McClaren and Lattomus, mentoring the young driver and handling a lot of the adjustments.

“Kyle and Scott have been great.  I told Kyle I feel like I need to do a better job of giving feedback on what I feel and what I need.  There’s a lot to process and get used to, so I can be good at that.  I’ll get there.”, Lattomus shared.

It’s not all about the experience in the cockpit.  The team has battled a few mechanical and motor issues in the early going this season.  Every team faces that.  Lattomus knows he has the equipment and the support around him to be competitive, and he knows he will get there.

“I try to focus on the big picture, the learning, the improvements.  If I get too wrapped up in results, it can take a toll on my confidence.  I just take a day to process our night, put things in perspective, and learn from the opportunities.”, Lattomus explained.

“While I expect to be good and I challenge myself to be the best I can be, I take a moment to realize where I am in the scheme of laps and races.  I’m competing against guys who have a lot of 410 races under their belt.”

Lattomus is looking forward to the team’s upcoming three-race weekend and is aiming to capitalize on it to log a lot of laps.  Over the upcoming April 25-27 weekend, the team will compete at Williams Grove Speedway on Friday, Lincoln Speedway on Saturday, and BAPS Motor Speedway on Sunday.

“The challenge of putting together the best laps I can in qualifying or in a race is exciting to me.  I’m excited about the opportunity I have to race this Capitol Custom Trailers & Coaches, EZGO Golf Cars, Betts Garage No.91 sprint car.  I’m excited because I know what we can and will accomplish eventually.”

Hartlaub Finding His Rhythm in First Starts of 2025

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Abbottstown, PA – April 22, 2025

by Addicted2Dirt PR & Media Mgmt

Image Credit:  Jeremy Zarfos / WRT Speedwerx

Kody Hartlaub made the decision last fall to get back into the Brewer/Hartlaub NinetyFive Motorsports car for the 2025 season.  While he was anxious to do so, he patiently waited for better weather, opting to skip some opportunities to race in late February and early March.

He kicked things off on March 30th in the Brewer Home Improvements, J Fuels, Bigham Appraisal, Moose Blocks, Griffith Plumbing Services, T&N Solutions No.95.  Then, thanks to the unpredictable early Spring weather, he raced only two more times over the next two weeks.  Over those first three races, Hartlaub showed speed and glimpses of the type of performance he expects, but it was tough to establish a good rhythm.

QUICK RESULTS:

  • Date/Location:  March 30, 2025 / BAPS Motor Speedway, York Haven, PA
  • Stats:  Qualifying 1st in Group, Heat 5th (4), A-main 20th (3)
  • Date/Location:  April 5, 2025 / Lincoln Speedway, Abbottstown, PA
  • Stats:  Heat 5th (10), A-main 12th (13)
  • Date/Location:  April 13, 2025 / BAPS Motor Speedway, York Haven, PA
  • Stats:  Qualifying 2nd in Group, Heat 3rd (3), A-main 18th (13)
  • Date/Location:  April 18, 2025 / Williams Grove Speedway, Mechanicsburg, PA
  • Stats:  Qualifying 3rd in Group, Heat 1st (1), A-main 10th (7)
  • Date/Location:  April 19, 2025 / Lincoln Speedway, Abbottstown, PA
  • Stats:  Qualifying 5th, Heat 1st (1), A-main 10th (5)

“I knew the car had speed.  The driver just wasn’t as good as the car.”, Hartlaub shared, reflecting on his own performance in his opener at BAPS Motor Speedway.

“I need to get better.  We were the quickest in our group in hot laps.  I made a couple of mistakes in the heat race, but we were already in the redraw, so I just learned from that and moved on.”

“We were pretty good in the feature and had a top-ten run going before the contact with the 39 ended that.  All in all, it wasn’t a bad opener.  We just didn’t get the result we should have had.”

Hartlaub is harder on himself than anyone else could ever be.  It drives him to work extremely hard at learning the craft of wheeling these winged 900+ horsepower beasts.

The following week at Lincoln Speedway’s handicap show, Hartlaub started deep in his heat race but passed five cars to put himself in a much better position for the night.  He started 13th and finished 12th in the 30-lap A-main.

“I probably had a car capable of 8th-10th.  I need to clean up a few things behind the wheel to make sure we get the finishes the car is capable of.”, Hartlaub commented.

This past weekend, Hartlaub carried out his first two-race weekend of the season.  He made the most of it, scoring two heat race wins and two top-ten feature finishes.

“At Williams Grove, I felt like we didn’t leave anything on the table.  The car was capable of 9th or 10th, and that’s right where I ended up.”, Hartlaub said.

Saturday night at Lincoln Speedway, the East Berlin, PA resident went out late for qualifying and clocked in 5th fastest.

Hartlaub later stated he probably had a 7th-place car, so the 10th-place finish was a tad short of his goal.

“The team and I are learning a lot already.  There are things I like and don’t like, so I think we will be even better next time.”, Hartlaub said.

“Racing inside the top ten is tough.  That’s what I’m working on the most right now.  The guys that are running up front like that never take a lap off.  They are always going all out, and they will take advantage of any mistake.”

We’ve got what it takes to be a weekly contender.  This year I have Justin taking care of the car and setup, so I can really focus on my job behind the wheel.  It just takes laps.  There’s no replacement for seat time.  “

Tony Jackson Scores Third-Straight Podium Finish with Path Valley Speedway Park Start

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Spring Run, PA – April 21, 2025

by Justin Snyder / Addicted2Dirt PR & Media Mgmt

Image Credit:  Teal Beard / WRT Speedwerx

The momentum continues to build for Tony Jackson and Scott Hess Racing, as the No. 88 machine raced to a third-place finish in Wingless Sportsman competition this past Saturday at Path Valley Speedway Park. The result marked the team’s third consecutive podium finish and another solid step toward their 2025 goals.

After finishing second in his heat race to secure a spot in the A-main, Jackson rolled off fourth on the starting grid. Navigating a tricky and challenging track surface, he was able to get to the front early and lead nine laps. However, as the track conditions changed, he lost the top spot and fell to second. Following a late race caution, he made a last ditch effort to get back to the front, which cost him a spot and he took the checkered flag in third.

“Typically, when we get to to the lead, we don’t lose it,” said Jackson. “With the wind and weather, the track was very bottom dominant early in the night. They watered the track before the A-main and we used the top to get to the front early.

“But I stuck to the top a little too long and Perigo found the bottom before we could. We were running second on a late restart and ultimately, we’re here to try and win races. I made a move to try and get it back and ultimately it cost us a spot and we ended up third,” he added.

With a win at BAPS Motor Speedway and now back-to-back podiums in wingless action, Jackson and the team have plenty to be confident about heading into a busy upcoming weekend.

Next up: a doubleheader featuring two different styles of racing. The team will head to Linda’s Speedway on Friday night for Winged Sportsman action before switching gears—literally—for Saturday’s Wingless Sportsman event at Port Royal Speedway.

“I’ve never raced at Linda’s, so we’re going into this event with a little bit of an open mind,” he said. “As far as Port goes, we’ve won there before so we have a good notebook of what to expect. So we’ve got the best of both worlds this weekend and I’m looking forward to contending for more wins and keeping this good streak of runs going.”

For more news and updates on Tony Jackson and Scott Hess Racing, follow the team on social media.

With an impressive track record in the Super Sportsman series, Jackson has consistently demonstrated exceptional talent, determination, and an unwavering passion for the sport. Over the years, he has carved a name for himself as a formidable force, capturing the attention of fans, competitors, and sponsors alike. He’s also looking forward to continuing his family’s legacy, as his father Larry Jackson was a force to be reckoned with for decades in the Sportsman ranks.

Career highlights include winning the Super Sportsman 100-lapper in 2023, winning the winged and wingless super sportsman features on the same night in 2022, and amassing 46 career Super Sportsman wins!

Tony Jackson and Scott Hess Racing Break Through for First Victory of the Season at BAPS Motor Speedway

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

York Haven, PA – April 16, 2025

by Justin Snyder / Addicted2Dirt PR & Media Mgmt

Image Credit:  Teal Beard / WRT Speedwerx

After an early season marked by rainouts and tough luck, Tony Jackson and Scott Hess Racing finally had their chance to shine—and they made the most of it. On Sunday night at BAPS Motor Speedway, Jackson powered his way to his first victory of the 2025 season in Wingless Sportsman competition, giving the team a much-needed shot of momentum.

“Obviously, the rain has been a hindrance to us, but the races we have run, we’ve been competitive each night out,” said Jackson. “It was nice to finally take advantage of a fast car and get ourselves a win.”

With Mother Nature derailing several scheduled starts this season, including Saturday’s winged Sportsman event at BAPS, the team was eager to capitalize on Sunday’s opportunity. Out of a field of 25 competitors, Jackson set the tone early, finishing where he started—first—in his heat race to lock into the A-main event with a sixth-place starting spot.

“We lucked out and drew a good pill, which is unusual for us, and we were able to lead every lap and lock into the A-main,” he said. “Sometimes that can kind of be a tough deal, as you’re not really sure how good you are, but the car was quick out of the trailer and we took advantage.”

Once the green flag dropped in the feature, Jackson methodically worked his way through the field, overtaking Brett Perigo for the lead on lap eight. Despite a feature marred by multiple cautions, Jackson never relinquished the top spot, ultimately crossing the finish line 1.489 seconds ahead of the competition.

The win marks the 47th of Jackson’s career in the Sportsman division, bringing him one step closer to his end-of-season goal of 50 career victories. As previously announced, this will be Jackson’s final season behind the wheel as he looks toward a future outside of racing.

“We’re headed in the right direction, and I’m looking forward to the rest of the season,” added Jackson. “We’ve got a lot of racing in our near future, and I think we are well on our way to 50. I’m not a big goal guy, but with it being my final season, I’d like to go out on a high note. We’ll see if we can’t get to 50, and if we do that, I don’t see why we should stop there.”

Next up, Jackson and the Scott Hess Racing team head to Path Valley Speedway Park this Saturday for another round of wingless racing action.

“I feel good at Path Valley, as wingless wise, its maybe my most successful track,” he said. “I always feel when we pull into Path Valley, we have a shot to be up front, and I’m excited to get back there and see if we can’t get another win.”

ABOUT  TONY JACKSON

Ross Finding His Groove, Scores Fourth Consecutive Top Ten

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

York Haven, PA – April 16, 2025

by Addicted2Dirt PR & Media Mgmt

Image Credit:  Jeremy Zarfos / WRT Speedwerx

Tyler Ross has spun off four top ten finishes in a row in Central Pennsylvania 410 sprint car racing, quickly putting a couple of early-season crashes behind him.  The next step for the team from Lincoln University, PA is to crack the podium and find their first win of the season.

“I’m happy with the consistency. Of course, we’d like to run these top tens into top 5s, but that will come. There are things we need to improve on, but I feel like we’re heading in the right direction.”, Ross commented.

Ross does have one top-five this season, and another potential one slipped away after a controversial call by an official sent him to the rear of the field during the team’s first race of the season.

QUICK RESULTS:

  • Date:  April 5, 2025
  • Division:  410 Sprint Cars
  • Location:  Lincoln Speedway, Abbottstown, PA
  • Stats:  Heat 4th (5), A-main 8th (12)

  • Date:  April 13, 2025
  • Division:  410 Sprint Cars
  • Location:  BAPS Motor Speedway, York Haven, PA
  • Stats:  Heat 4th (5), A-main 9th (14)

Over the past two weekends, Ross has been in competition at Lincoln Speedway and BAPS Motor Speedway.  In both events, he raced from outside the top ten to 8th and 9th place finishes, respectively.

Each time they hit the track, Ross and his team are improving as the night goes on.  In his last four main events, he is +21 positions, passing nearly two dozen cars to secure those top ten finishes.

Ross has been moving forward early in the evening, too.  In eight heat races this season, he is +9 positions.

“With the two time trial shows we’ve had at BAPS, we’ve been a tick off. The first time was just after the crashes, and the car wasn’t quite right.  This past weekend was a driver error in time trials that put us behind. That’s something I need to clean up here pretty quickly as we approach more time trial shows.”, Ross shared.

“I feel like if we can get to a better starting position, we will get those better finishes. All in all, I’m happy to have speed and consistency.”

In 2024, time trial events helped Ross shine, showing his speed with solid qualifying runs and positioning himself for great feature results.  It’s likely he will regain that form and create those opportunities again this season for himself and his team.

Tyler will be back in action this Saturday at Lincoln Speedway in the Ross Racing, Bush Auto Group, Fastrak Express Inc., Stateline Truck and Trailer, Stoltzfus Farm Service/Kubota, Betts Garage No.5.

Making Statements in March: Strong Runs and Win Highlight First Month of Racing for Snook

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Port Royal, PA – April 3, 2025

by Derick Kriner / Addicted2Dirt PR & Media Mgmt

After an offseason of traveling around and getting to experience life on the road with a late model team, March brought about the start of young Lane Snook’s racing season. Getting to hit the track for the first time every year, can bring about all sorts of emotions. Nervousness, anticipation, and in Snook’s case, confidence. “I was very confident with our stuff after using the knowledge I learned from Florida on my own equipment.” Showing speed late in the 2024 season and getting a ton of new knowledge for 2025, the start of the season couldn’t come soon enough. “We went to a practice at BAPS and I knew our car was very good.”

Confidence in his equipment and ability showed itself on the first race day of the year at BAPS Motor Speedway. Lane and team brought out the limited car for an afternoon of racing and didn’t miss a beat. The 23 team was “able to get the first win out of the way for the season” after an impressive 8th to 1st run. After nearly half the season expiring before getting win one in 2024, 2025 seemed to be trending in a better direction from the onset.

The following weekend brought about a different type of challenge for the Mifflintown native. Stepping up to the super late model division for an opening day race at Port Royal Speedway. A new experience getting to race in the division would come with some troubles after a promising start. Rolling off 8th in the feature, Lane slid back a few positions early but was able to start to make gains throughout the feature, on a tough track surface.

With less than 10 laps to go in the feature event, the motor let go and ended a promising result. “It was pretty cool getting to race the super even though I wish it had a different ending. I think it helped me as a driver for the laps I did get to run” said Snook. A different feel within the car and a change in driving style were some of the things Lane noticed. “I feel if I could’ve gotten a few more races under my belt in the super, we could’ve been competitive up front every week.”

The next weekend would feature racing for the team, but back in the limited late model division at the ‘Speed Palace’ for the final daytime show until Labor Day. Track conditions were much different than the week prior, as temperatures were near 80 degrees, creating a slick surface. Leaning back on his experience from the week before, Snook was able to win his heat race from 4th and then have a strong 2nd place finish in the feature. “I think it (being in the super) helped me a lot. The track was slicker for the limited race so I think it helped me with throttle control and it also slowed everything down.” On a track that started to become very bottom-dominant, Lane thought that he “should’ve moved back to the bottom and I would’ve stayed with Kyle (Hardy).” Still a strong showing after disappointment the week before and proving the speed of their limited program with a 1st and a 2nd on the year.

Looking ahead to what the month of April has in store for the 23 car, the team plans to head back to Port Royal this Saturday, weather dependent. A few busy weeks will follow as the team plans to head to Clinton County, Path Valley, and BAPS, on the 11th-13th respectively. Then the team plans to attend Selinsgrove on the 18th, with plans for the 19th TBD. Three-race weekend is again the plan for the last weekend of the month, with stops at several different tracks around the region. Keep updated on the team’s schedule and results by checking out the new website at LaneSnookRacing.com.

The team would, as always, like to thank all of the great partners and sponsors that have made this year possible: Grassmyer Auctioneering, MHT Transport, Stydinger Bros Excavation, Fryeco Fabrication, Addicted2Dirt PR & Media Management, Mexico Ridge Beef Farm, Garman Concrete, The Olde Hatchery, Juniata Beverage, Sunny View Roofing, Keister Karting Products, Team22 Inc, AllStar Performance, Dyers Top Rods, Swift Springs, BDR Products, Keizer Wheels, and Winters Performance Products.

Tyler Ross Bounces Back with Back-to-Back Top Ten Finishes

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

York Haven, PA – April 2, 2025

by Addicted2Dirt PR & Media Mgmt

Image Credit:  Jeremy Zarfos / WRT Speedwerx

Tyler Ross’s first two runs of the 2025 season produced solid, consistent performances for the Ross Racing, Bush Auto Group, Fastrak Express Inc., Stateline Truck and Trailer, Stoltzfus Farm Service/Kubota, Betts Garage No.5.  Those outings confirmed that the team’s hard work during the offseason was time well spent.

The confidence gained in those early races became even more valuable after the next few races.  Ross has shown speed in his recent races but has produced mixed results, including crashing twice.  The solid start now serves as a good reminder of what he and the team are capable of and that recent events are just part of the game.

It’s been tough to get into a rhythm.  Crashes are part of racing and don’t necessarily reflect anything negative about the driver.  Sometimes you are just in the wrong place at the wrong time.

Still, drivers are human and nights like those can affect their mindset until they can replace those thoughts with positive results.

“Getting upside down two weeks in a row killed our momentum. The driver lost some confidence.”, Ross admitted.

“Wrecking back-to-back weeks changes the mindset a tad bit because I want to make sure we have enough equipment to get to the end of the year. Although it’s not a good way to look at it, it’s tough for our family-owned deal.”

“Crashes absolutely affect your approach.  Especially back-to-back like that.  A one-off crash is easier to put out of your mind but two in a row makes you start to think more.  The key is to get back on the track and log solid runs to get your confidence back up and get the team back up to speed.  That was our goal this past weekend.”

Ross tackled Lincoln Speedway once again on Saturday night and made the trip to BAPS Motor Speedway on Sunday night in search of finding his rhythm.

QUICK RESULTS:

  • Date:  March 15, 2025
  • Division:  410 Sprint Cars
  • Location:  Lincoln Speedway, Abbottstown, PA
  • Stats:  Heat 3rd (6), A-main 20th (9)
  • Date:  March 22, 2025
  • Location:  Port Royal Speedway, Port Royal, PA
  • Stats:  Heat 8th (7), A-main DNQ
  • Date:  March 29, 2025
  • Division:  410 Sprint Cars
  • Location:  Lincoln Speedway, Abbottstown, PA
  • Stats:  Heat 6th (6), A-main 10th (16)
  • Date:  March 30, 2025
  • Division:  410 Sprint Cars
  • Location:  BAPS Motor Speedway, York Haven, PA
  • Stats:  Heat 5th (5), A-main 8th (14)

Ross started both nights over the weekend by making sure he put his team in the show, then went to work moving forward in both features.

The Lincoln University (PA) product passed six cars in each main event, putting himself at +12 for the weekend.  At the end of both nights, the car went into the trailer in one piece.

It was the kind of weekend the team needed to find their groove again.

“Running two days this past weekend was good for us. Yes, we finished 10th from 16th at Lincoln but we knew we were off a bit. We came home after and went through the car again and found some things.  I was a lot more comfortable Sunday at BAPS (Motor Speedway).”, Ross shared.

“I think we’re on track. We showed speed and bounced back with two top-ten finishes after two unfortunate weeks.”

“After a car is repaired from a crash, sometimes it’s not the same as it was before, so it’s kind of like you’re starting over with your notes.  I think we’re just learning what our car wants now.  I have the confidence in my team to get me as comfortable as I was the first few weeks.”

“We’re just gonna keep digging.”

Have no doubt.  They will keep digging and they will make headlines in 2025.

Ross will be back behind the wheel this weekend at Lincoln Speedway.  Racing starts at 6 pm on Saturday night, April 5th.

Lattomus Embracing the Learning Curve in Rookie 410 Season

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

York Haven, PA – April 2, 2025

by Addicted2Dirt PR & Media Mgmt

Photo Credit:  Jeremy Zarfos / WRT Speedwerx

Half of Preston Lattomus’ first six attempts to get seat time early in his rookie 410 sprint car season have fallen victim to Mother Nature.  After a lone mid-March start, the Lewes, DE resident finally put a two-race weekend under his belt as March drew to a close last weekend.

While the laps and tracks have been somewhat limited, there’s really no such thing as limited learning time when a driver straps into a winged 410 sprint car.  Every corner and every decision provides opportunities to gain experience.

“The weather has been killing us recently, but after 3 races I am learning the differences in the power from the 358 to the 410, and how to use it.”, Lattomus shared.

“Just racing with 410 guys a few times has taught me a lot.  They are aggressive from start to finish.”

Lattomus has raced twice at Lincoln Speedway in Pennsylvania so far this year, earning top-ten and top-five starting spots in those two main events.  The first ended badly, with the rookie upside down tearing up a car.  He fared much better in his most recent outing, finishing 14th.

“410 (sprint car) racing is different.  The intensity and the skill level is way more than I could have imagined., but I’m up for the challenge.”, Lattomus commented.

QUICK RESULTS:

  • Date:  March 15, 2025
  • Division:  410 Sprint Cars
  • Location:  Lincoln Speedway, Abbottstown, PA
  • Stats:  Heat 4th (3), A-main 21st (10)
  • Date:  March 29, 2025
  • Division:  410 Sprint Cars
  • Location:  Lincoln Speedway, Abbottstown, PA
  • Stats:  Heat 2nd (3), A-main 14th (4)
  • Date:  March 30, 2025
  • Division:  410 Sprint Cars
  • Location:  BAPS Motor Speedway, York Haven, PA
  • Stats:  Group 2 Qualifying 7th, Heat 9th (7), B-main 5th (8), A-main 13th (23)

Sunday night Lattomus took to BAPS Motor Speedway where he captured a 358 sprint car win last season.  His qualifying effort put him behind but the Annapolis, MD native clawed his way into the feature through the B-main, then proceeded to charge from his 23rd starting spot to a 13th place finish.

“Coming into 410 racing I have been trying to keep my expectations low, but that’s just not who I am. I always want to do better and run the best laps to my ability.”, Lattomus said.

“As results go, I always want to do better, but right now our biggest goal is to learn and log good laps.”

The young wheelman knows how to race and he knows how to win.  The learning curve in a 410 sprint car can certainly take time to navigate, but with a nearly 70-race schedule planned, even conceding some events to the weather, Lattomus should get at least 50 nights in the seat of the Capitol Custom Trailers & Coaches, EZGO Golf Cars, Betts Garage No.91 in 2025.  That’s a lot of laps and a lot of lessons.

There’s no doubt Lattomus will show glimpses of his potential throughout the season and when things go his way, he will turn some heads.  For now, he is patiently putting in the work to make himself and the car the best they can be.

“In the next couple of weeks, we have a good bit of racing.  I can’t wait to finally get to Williams Grove.  I’m looking forward to getting back to BAPS (Motor Speedway) too because it was a lot of fun come feature time Sunday.  I think it will be really good when they aren’t rushed.  When the track prep right is more typical, it will be really fun to race on.”, Lattomus predicted.

“We have a lot of racing ahead of us this season.  I’m going to focus on working with and listening to Kyle (Reinhardt) and Scott (McClaren) to build our notebook and get better every week.”

Ashley Cappetta kicked off her 2025 358 Sprint Car season on Saturday night at Lincoln Speedway with a strong performance and a new crew chief in her corner. Cappetta’s solid showing was highlighted by a heat race win and valuable lessons learned for the season ahead.

Cappetta welcomed Dwayne Watson as her new crew chief for the 2025 season, a decision that’s already proving to be a game-changer. Watson stepped in to help during Cappetta’s final race last season, and the immediate improvements led her to bring him on board full-time.

“I honestly feel like that was the best decision we’ve made,” Cappetta said. “It’s nothing against my dad or the rest of the team — I just needed something different to get comfortable. Dwayne and Larry have already made me feel more confident in the direction we’re headed.”

Saturday night started off strong with a good pill draw, easing some of the early-season pressure. Cappetta made the most of her front-row starting spot in the heat race, getting a strong start and driving away with the win. “I can’t remember the last time the car felt that comfortable,” Cappetta shared.

Heading into the feature, Cappetta and her team made minimal adjustments, unsure how the track would hold up. After a rocky initial start, Cappetta nailed the second restart and was running strong until a string of cautions slowed her momentum. “Every caution actually hurt us on Saturday,” she explained. “The car got a little uncomfortable with about eight laps to go, but we’ve already figured out what changes we need to make to fix that.”

Cappetta also battled some physical challenges late in the race. “My neck got really stiff toward the end, so I was just holding on at that point,” she said. “I would’ve liked to see what would’ve happened without those cautions — I think we had a top-three car.”

Adding Watson to the team has already made a noticeable difference. “I don’t feel like I have to worry as much,” Cappetta said. “I give him feedback, and he understands it differently because he’s driven a sprint car. That’s huge. Plus, he just gelled right away with the rest of the team since he’s worked with them before. It’s taken a lot of stress off my shoulders.”

Saturday’s race saw plenty of action, with multiple cautions throughout the night. “Unfortunately, you kind of expect it with our class early in the season,” Cappetta noted. “There are a lot of new people out there. I just wish we could get through the first turn without so many cautions. But I’m glad nobody was seriously hurt.”

Cappetta and the team are already focused on the next race at Lincoln Speedway this coming Saturday. “We know what adjustments we need to make,” Cappetta said. “If we get another good start and the car feels like it did in the heat race, I think we’ll be in a good spot.”
