Consistency and Checkered Flags: Snook Stacking Strong Results and Wins in May

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Bedford, PA – June 3, 2025

After an April of strong performances and consistent top 10 runs, with a win sprinkled in, Lane Snook found a way to turn up the heat on the competition in May. Once again, the team would be tested with weather and having to try and chase races at tracks throughout the state. Race chasing did end up working out pretty well, but the month did start with a few scheduled stops at the Selinsgrove Speedway.

After having a hard charging result in April at the big half-mile, Snook strung together two strong performances and broke the Snook curse at Selinsgrove. Winning on May 2nd from 6th and then again on May 10th from 7th. Both nights, Lane was able to pick his way through the field and find a way through lap traffic. Within two weeks, Snook was able to match his season total in wins (4 total). The speed and winning ways didn’t stop there.

With rain ruining a plan to make a surprise visit to Dog Hollow, the team pivoted and pointed the trailer towards the Bedford Speedway. This was Lane’s “first time at the track,” and what a first time it was. “We started 5th in the feature and drove to 3rd, and with the leaders making contact, I was able to sneak by and get our third win in a row.” A first-time visit, he’ll never forget.

The weekend wasn’t over, however, as the team headed just south of the Mason-Dixon, to Hagerstown Speedway. Speed was again evident, and the big track package seemed to stay consistent. With a stellar heat race, going 10th to 1st, the 23 would have a front row starting spot in the feature. Lane would roll off 2nd, and that would be where he would finish, but the result was not easy to come by. “With contact on the start, we fell to 6th. After some cautions, I was able to drive back to second,” stated Snook. This would add another podium finish to his tally for the season, but end the win streak.

A Memorial Day weekend trip to Port Royal didn’t end with a win, but left the young racer feeling confident with the speed of the car. A 7th place starting spot after the redraw and on the heels of a strong 4th-1st run in his heat gave Lane another chance to add to his strong stat line. “I was able to drive up to 4th with another fast car, but stalled out there to finish the race.” Even with a few winless races, the confidence and belief in what the team was doing with the car were evident.

To round out the month, the team would head to one of Lane’s best tracks, BAPS Motor Speedway. After getting rained out at Selinsgrove and arriving late, the team started at the tail of the field. The team had some help along the way down as Lane’s brother “met us halfway with gears to be able to run.” Starting 27th, finishing the race, and getting some spots would have been a good night, with all the rushing around. But Snook had other ideas. After surviving a first-lap wreck and gaining some spots from that incident, Lane charged towards the front. “With a tough track surface, I was able to pick my way through traffic and watch ahead of me to work my way to the front. With everything going as it needed to, we were able to get the lead with around 5 laps to go and drive off to the win, in the 20-lap feature.” A feat that probably wasn’t at the front of their mind going into the feature. This rounded out a strong month of May, with the win marking the sixth triumph of the season.

And if one on the weekend is good, two must be better. With a Sunday trip lined up at Bedford Speedway, the winning continued. Snook was able to roll from the 8th starting spot and quickly grab 5th. The march to the front continued, and a caution around halfway through the feature gave Lane the chance to pounce for the lead. After passing and driving away with the lead, the 23 car again pulled onto the stage and took home a second checkered flag, in the second visit to the big half mile.

Speed and great results have now become a normality for the Mifflintown driver, but not without hard work. “I think a lot of it (what’s been working) is what I’ve learned in Florida. Some of it is me getting better as a driver,” stated Snook. Really being a student of the game and committing each night to keeping an eye on track conditions and also to what he’s feeling in the car have all been contributing factors to the success of the 23 team. Getting to experience a lot of different tracks has also helped, even with some of the last-second planning. “We definitely ended up racing some places we didn’t plan on this month.” Even with this lack of time to mentally prepare, “with a car that’s very balanced everywhere, we don’t have to change much in between each track.” Snook tries to keep a level head and not let the change in plans ruin the chance to put up strong results.

Strong results have been the name of the game this season. With the team running 16 races in the limited ranks, through June 1st, Snook has been able to finish inside the top 10 in 15 of those races. Podium finishes have also been stacking up, with Snook garnering 13 in three months of racing. And with a winning percentage right around 44%, all stats point towards a strong year, and Snook is hopeful that the team “can keep the momentum rolling.”

June kicked off with a win, and the team hopes to see more of the same in the coming weeks. Schedule plans include a week off for a trip to Eldora for the Dream, but then pick right back up June 12th with a return to Selinsgrove Speedway and Port Royal on the 14th. Selinsgrove is again on the card the following weekend. The 27th is currently to be determined, with the team planning to round out the month on the 28th, at Port Royal. We will see what Mother Nature has in store and if plans shift. Stay connected on Facebook and also on the team website for updates and results.

Lattomus Scores First Top Five in Season Full of Firsts

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Port Royal, PA – June 2, 2025

by Addicted2Dirt PR & Media Mgmt

Preston Lattomus entered his rookie season as a winged 410 sprint car driver knowing nearly every night would bring a new ‘first’.

While not all of those firsts make headlines, there is always a positive element to each of them.  Each first represents a step forward in gaining experience.  Each first is progress, even if the results don’t feel like it.

Over the past two weekends, Lattomus has conquered two more firsts.  One of them is headline-worthy.

QUICK RESULTS:

  • Date/Location:  May 24, 2025 – Bob Leiby Memorial, Lincoln Speedway, Abbottstown, PA
  • StatsHeat 3rd (3), A-main 4th (5)
  • Date/Location:  May 31, 2025 – Port Royal Speedway, Port Royal, PA
  • Stats Group 4 Qualifying 7th, Heat 6th (7), B-main 5th (4)

CHECK THESE OFF THE LIST

Saturday night, May 24th, Lattomus entered the Bob Leiby Memorial at Lincoln Speedway in Pennsylvania and got his night off to a positive start by posting a 3rd place finish in his heat race, keeping Lincoln veterans Brandon Rahmer and Matt Campbell at bay.

In the 30-lap finale that night, Lattomus started on the inside of the third row and surged into a podium spot for the majority of the race before dropping one spot to a 4th place finish to earn his first career top-five finish in winged 410 sprint car competition.

“The first top 5 in a 410 just shows improvement from the first couple of races, which helps a lot with confidence.  It helps to run up front with good cars.”, Lattomus commented.

“I started up front in a feature at the beginning of the year and went straight backwards. So, to stay upfront and pass some cars shows the improvement in only a few races since then at Lincoln.”

This past Saturday night, with Lincoln Speedway cancelling their program due to the weather, Lattomus opted for a night at Port Royal Speedway.  The Lewes, DE driver has several past appearances at ‘The Speed Palace’, but this was his first time in a winged 410 sprint car.

Lattomus registered the 7th quickest lap in his qualifying group but was never able to quite recover from that.  He gained one spot in his heat race but fell one spot short of transferring to the main event.  In the B-main, he lost one spot and again fell one spot short of making the finale.

The night wasn’t measured by the results, though.  The experience was gained, and the notebook was a little thicker for the next time.

“Port Royal has always been one of my favorite tracks to watch and especially race at.  We have shown so much speed every time we go there.”, Lattomus shared.

“The 410 is definitely a completely different animal at Port, and it will take some getting used to. I think we can get really good there and learn to enjoy the place as much as I have before in other divisions.”

Tony Jackson Grabs Another Podium Finish During Weather-Shortened Memorial Day Weekend

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Port Royal, PA – May 28, 2025

by Justin Snyder / Addicted2Dirt PR & Media Mgmt

Image Credit:  Jeremy Zarfos / WRT Speedwerx

What was planned to be a full-throttle Memorial Day weekend of racing for Tony Jackson and the Scott Hess Racing team turned into a test of patience and perseverance, as Mother Nature once again played a role in reshaping the schedule. Despite a rainout on Friday at Williams Grove Speedway, Jackson salvaged the weekend with a pair of strong performances—highlighted by a runner-up finish Sunday during the prestigious Bob Weikert Memorial at Port Royal Speedway.

“I swear Williams Grove has just had the worst luck all season, and I’m starting to wonder if we’ll ever get a show in there,” Jackson said. “Otherwise, it was a decent weekend and something we can keep building on as a team.”

Saturday’s event at BAPS Motor Speedway saw Jackson battle in Winged Sportsman competition, where the No. 88 machine advanced three positions in a heat race to finish second. He then started 12th and passed four cars in the A-main, bringing the car home in eighth place—not the result they were hoping for, but still a solid night.

“We had a mechanical issue on Saturday, but made the best of it,” he said. “The car was laying over really badly as a result, so we kind of just made do with what we could out there.”

On Sunday, Jackson and the team shifted back to wingless competition for one of the biggest shows of the year at Port Royal Speedway. Lining up against a stout field of 32 cars as part of the card for the Bob Weikert Memorial, Jackson proved once again why he’s been a force all season. He won a heat race from the sixth starting position before picking off seven positions from ninth in the A-main to secure a second-place finish, just shy of grabbing his fifth win of the year.

“We had a really good car on Sunday, but we needed a yellow to see if we really had anything for the leader,” said Jackson. “Port Royal is a really good track for us, and our speed showed. Unfortunately, we just came up one spot short.”

With four wins already under his belt and 50 career victories now to his name, Jackson continues to be one of the most consistent and competitive drivers in the region in both winged and wingless Sportsman action.

The team will compete in a solo night of racing this weekend as they’ll head to Path Valley Speedway Park on Saturday to run wingless in the sportsman.

“It’s a bit of a bigger race for Path Valley, and there is some extra money on the line, so I’m looking forward to it,” he said. “We’ve obviously won there a lot in the past, and our most recent win was there, so if weather cooperates, I think we’ve got a good shot to pick up another checkered flag.”

For more news, updates, and behind-the-scenes content, follow Tony Jackson and Scott Hess Racing on social media.

ABOUT  TONY JACKSON

With an impressive track record in the Super Sportsman series, Jackson has consistently demonstrated exceptional talent, determination, and an unwavering passion for the sport. Over the years, he has carved a name for himself as a formidable force, capturing the attention of fans, competitors, and sponsors alike. He’s also looking forward to continuing his family’s legacy, as his father Larry Jackson was a force to be reckoned with for decades in the Sportsman ranks.

Career highlights include winning the Super Sportsman 100-lapper in 2023, winning the winged and wingless super sportsman features on the same night in 2022, and amassing 46 career Super Sportsman wins!

Hartlaub Working on Mental Game to Reach Next Level

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

York Haven, PA – May 28, 2025

by Addicted2Dirt PR & Media Mgmt

Image Credit:  Jeremy Zarfos / WRT Speedwerx

In recent years, Kody Hartlaub has made a pretty regular habit of getting better as the race night goes on.  It was never a surprise to see him pass five or ten cars in an A-main to salvage a night that got off on the wrong foot in qualifying.

This season has been the opposite for the East Berlin, PA driver.  He has had a good car and been on his game early in the night, logging good qualifying efforts, including his first overall quick time at Lincoln Speedway.

So, how does the driver of the Brewer Home Improvements, J Fuels, Bigham Appraisal, Moose Blocks, Griffith Plumbing Services, T&N Solutions No.95 explain the contrast to past seasons?

QUICK RESULTS:

  • Date/Location:  April 27, 2025 / BAPS Motor Speedway, York Haven, PA
  • Stats:  Group 4 Qualifying 1st, Heat 3rd (4), A-main 9th (5)
  • Date/Location:  May 7, 2025 / Lincoln Speedway, Abbottstown, PA
  • Stats:  Group A Qualifying 8th, Heat 5th (4), A-main 22nd (19)
  • Date/Location May 10, 2025 / Williams Grove Speedway, Mechanicsburg, PA
  • Stats:  Group B Qualifying 10th, Heat 7th (5), B-main 12th (8)
  • Date/Location:  May 17, 2025 / Lincoln Speedway, Abbottstown, PA
  • Stats:  Qualifying 1st, Heat 8th (4), A-main DNF 24th (19)
  • Date/Location:  May 18, 2025 / BAPS Motor Speedway, York Haven, PA
  • Stats:  Group 4 Qualifying 3rd, Heat DNF 9th (2), B-main 9th (17)
  • Date/Location May 23, 2025 / Williams Grove Speedway, Mechanicsburg, PA
  • Stats:  Group B Qualifying 6th, Heat 3rd (2), B-main 9th (12)

“The problem has mostly been the driver.”, Hartlaub said.

His face wore a grin, but he was quite serious.

“The guys are giving me a great car.  I need to get myself to a place where I’m as good as the car.  I have really been working on the mental side of the game.  Fans probably don’t realize how big that part of it is.”, Hartlaub added.

Hartlaub has had conversations with veteran Danny Dietrich about the mental approach to sprint car racing.  Among other things, they discussed thinking two laps ahead, setting up moves, and when to be aggressive.

The bottom line:  the driver is still a huge part of this sport.

Sure, equipment matters.  It’s true everyone has mostly the same stuff to race with and that setup knowledge is important.  That said, a perfect car is still only as good as the driver at the wheel.

“We have been good early whether the track is heavy or slick. It was really cool to get my first quick time but then we got hit in the heat race and ended up starting in the back of the feature.”, Hartlaub shared.

“We know we have a fast car.  We just need to put a full night together.  That means making the right adjustments on the car and it means me being better in the seat.”

OUTLAW SWING

Hartlaub qualified for the World of Outlaws A-main at Lincoln Speedway but fell short of making the field at Williams Grove.

“I should have been more aggressive at Lincoln in the feature.  With the competition at that level, you have to be on all the time.”, Hartlaub said.

“We were disappointed to miss the show at Williams Grove.  The track was a little different than normal at the start of the night, and we overreacted.  We made changes early that we shouldn’t have.  We need to get better at thinking ahead and not being reactive.  That’s as true in the pits as it is behind the wheel.”

THE INCIDENT

One night after setting quick time at Lincoln, Hartlaub had another good night going at BAPS Motor Speedway.  He qualified 3rd in his group and was running 2nd in his heat race when his battle for that spot with Aaron Reutzel came to an abrupt end.

Reutzel was passing Hartlaub on the high side coming off turn four at the halfway point of the heat race when he made a hard left, creating contact and causing Hartlaub’s No.95 to spin.

Reutzel was penalized and sent to the rear of the field for the move.  Hartlaub showed his displeasure with the Texas driver for the move.

“I’m not proud of what I did there in the heat of the moment.”, Hartlaub said.

“It’s not an excuse, but it is frustrating when we work so hard and it’s taken away by a move like that.  I needed to win that heat to get in the redraw, so I was racing hard to get to the front.  I do appreciate the officials at BAPS (Motor Speedway) for making the call right away.”

To ‘add insult to injury’ as the saying goes, the team’s truck that tows their race rig lost an engine on the way home that night.

UP NEXT

Hartlaub will be back in action Saturday, May 31st, at Lincoln Speedway’s Steve Smith Tribute race.

Austin Berry Focuses on Continuous Improvement Ahead of Speedweek

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Port Royal, PA – May 22, 2025

by Addicted2Dirt PR & Media Mgmt

Austin Berry kicked off his super late model season in mid-April, a little later than usual for the Mifflin, PA native in his 11th super late model season.  As he pulled into Port Royal Speedway in mid-May, he only had three races under his belt.

Berry was still in early season learning mode, working to determine what his Rocket Chassis No.86 wanted to achieve the speed and consistency he was looking for.  The quality fields that are the norm at Port Royal make for an unforgiving place for learning.  You have to be on your game from start to finish.

QUICK RESULTS:

  • Date/Location:  May 17, 2025 / Port Royal Speedway, Port Royal, PA
  • DivisionSuper Late Model
  • Stats: Heat 6th (3), A-main 15th (17)

Saturday night, was only Berry’s second visit of the season to Juniata County, Pennsylvania oval.  The night began with a little luck.  Berry was running 5th in his heat race when he cut a tire. Nevertheless, as a result of the misfortune of other drivers, he transferred to the A-main by virtue of officially finishing 6th.

Despite starting 17th in the feature, Berry used a solid half-dozen opening laps o quickly move up to the 12th position.  However, the middle portion of the race proved more challenging and he slipped back a few spots in his Tuscarora Restoration, Juniata Veterinary Clinic, Berry’s Siding & Seamless Gutter, Dye It Rite, SRI Performance, VP Racing Fuels No.86.

By the race’s end, Berry managed to regain momentum, finishing 15th. He noted that his lap times in the final stage were within two-tenths of a second of his quickest lap early in the race.

Reflecting on the race, Berry shared, “Overall, Saturday night was somewhat positive. We worked through some tightness in the car early on and discovered a few adjustments that could be beneficial moving forward. My conversations with Paul and the guys down at Rocket Chassis have equipped us with valuable insights; now, it’s a matter of applying them at the right times.”

“The way the car fired off the first few laps in the feature, I felt great.  I thought we were going to drive right up into the top ten.  I’m really not sure what happened in the middle of the race to be honest.  Might have been the car transitioning or maybe it was on me.”

UP NEXT

Looking ahead, Berry and his team have decided to take a weekend off from racing. This pause will allow them to regroup and focus on preparations for the upcoming Speedweek, where they plan to participate in the initial races at Clinton County and Port Royal.

The team will look to cash in on past successes at those tracks.  Berry recorded a podium finish at Clinton County in the 2023 Speedweek opener and he has numerous top ten finishes, including one victory, at Port Royal Speedway.

“I need to get a lot done at the house my wife and I are building, plus we want to be well-prepared for the opening races of Speedweek, so there will be plenty to do this weekend.”, Berry shared.

“Those first two races of Speedweek are a good opportunity for us to find our groove and get a couple good runs under our belt.  We’re looking forward to those.”

Cappetta Scores Top Five Finish at Lincoln’s Fallen Firefighters Night “Guise-Little Memorial”

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

East Berlin, PA – May 22, 2025

Ashley Cappetta put together another strong run on Saturday, May 17, at Lincoln Speedway, earning a top-five finish while piloting the iconic Apple #12 with a special wing dedicated to fallen firefighters.

The event paid tribute to fallen first responders Jerome Guise and Brandon Little, as well as others who have made the ultimate sacrifice. Cappetta, who has deep personal ties to the firefighting community, shared what the evening meant to her.

“I never met Jerome or Brandon, but I know what it means to put your life on the line,” said Cappetta, a former volunteer firefighter. “It was an honor to run this car for them. I always want to do the best I can, not just for their families, but for every hero we’ve lost, and I wanted to make sure I did my part.”

Before the night’s racing program, Cappetta joined fans for the Livingston Lawn Care Party, where she had a chance to connect with new fans and see familiar faces.

On the track, Cappetta made the most of her fifth-place starting spot in the heat race after another competitor dropped out due to mechanical issues. She advanced to third quickly and held her position to earn a solid finish that set her up for a favorable starting spot in the feature.

Despite sustaining damage to the left front and discovering a bent W-link after the race, Cappetta fought through the adversity to bring home another top-five finish in the feature.

“The car felt a little off, but when I moved the wing back, it helped a lot,” Cappetta explained. “We didn’t realize the W-link was bent until we washed the car, so I’m proud of the result considering the circumstances. My crew has been working incredibly hard, and we’re all learning and improving each week.”

Much of Cappetta’s confidence this season stems from a revitalized team dynamic, including a new crew chief who brings both mechanical knowledge and driving experience to the table.

“Having someone who understands how the car feels from a driver’s perspective makes such a difference,” she said. “The communication has been great—we’re constantly reviewing video, breaking things down, and having real conversations about what to try next.”

That growing confidence has Cappetta eyeing additional races beyond Lincoln Speedway. With her second car nearly ready and her schedule opening up following softball coaching duties, she’s targeting potential appearances at Port Royal on July 19 and possibly a trip to Williams Grove.

“We’ve been gelling more each week, and once we have that second car ready, we’ll be able to move around a bit more,” she added. “We’ll probably shake it down with a test session first, just to make sure everything is right.”

For now, Cappetta is focused on staying consistent and continuing to build momentum in the Apple #12—a car that carries special meaning for her.

“Running this scheme permanently is a dream come true. I looked up to Greg [Hodnett] so much, and I know how legendary that 12 car is. I’m not trying to live up to anything—I just want to keep improving and represent it well.”

Looking ahead, Cappetta has her sights set on the Steve Smith Tribute Race on May 31 at Lincoln—a night that holds deep personal significance. Her father was a longtime mechanic for the late Steve Smith Sr., and the Smith family continues to support Cappetta’s team.

“Winning that race would be huge—not just for me, but for my dad and the whole Smith family. Steve didn’t like the spotlight, but he was a hell of a wheelman, and it’s going to be special to honor him in that way.”

Fans can also look forward to new Apple #12 merchandise rolling out soon, and Cappetta expressed heartfelt thanks to those who continue to support her both at the track and through merchandise sales.

“People don’t always realize how much that support helps us keep going,” Cappetta said. “If you can’t sponsor a car, buying a t-shirt is just as appreciated in my book.”

ABOUT  ASHLEY CAPPETTA

Ashley Cappetta is a second-generation racer following her uncle’s footsteps. She started her racing career in 2012. It was her first year piloting her race car but certainly not her first exposure to the sport. She was introduced to racing by her father, who was Steve Smith’s crew chief. Her uncle, Rob Cappetta was also involved in the sport driving his own #89 sprint car and went on to be a gasman for Robert Yates Racing. Ashley is making her own way by being the first female in her family to set center stage as a driver. Ashley has had a couple of years of sprint car experience with various teams, starting out as a crew member doing such simple tasks as scrapping mud to advancing her skills into doing maintenance for her own race car. Ashley showing her success with not only her abilities working on her race car but also by winning a Hard Charger Award in only her first season racing. Ashley feels she has the best of both worlds by not only knowing how to race but by having the knowledge of the mechanics and being able to provide detailed feedback to her team. Her goal is to continue to grow as a racer and work her way up through the sprint car division.

Ross Seeking Consistency, Motor Issues Halt Potential Top Ten Run with High Limit at Grandview

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Bechtelsville, PA – May 22, 2025

by Addicted2Dirt PR & Media Mgmt

If you compiled a list of 410 sprint car teams capable of competing for top five finishes and wins, yet often find themselves falling short despite their potential, it would probably be a long one.

Tyler Ross and the Ross Racing team have to be at or near the top of that list so far in 2025.  The Lincoln University, PA product was coming off arguably his best 410 sprint car campaign in 2024 and was well-positioned for a breakout season.

The stats aren’t bad at all.  A lot of teams would take seven top ten finishes in sixteen races.

For Ross, though, the expectation is top fives, wins, and most of all, consistency.  Those goals are still well within reach.

THERE’S A BRIGHT SIDE

Tuesday night, Ross returned to Grandview Speedway in Bechtelsville, PA, to compete with the High Limit Racing series.  In 2024, he earned a front row starting spot and recorded a top ten finish at the event.

Ross appeared poised to repeat the performance and quickly erase some of his early 2025 frustrations.  He qualified 9th in the stout 30-car field and backed it up with a runner-up finish in his heat race.  He would start the A-main from inside row five.

At the halfway mark of the 35-lap feature, while in a back-and-forth battle for the 10th spot the motor started to sour under the hood of the Ross Racing, Bush Auto Group, Fastrak Express Inc., Stateline Truck and Trailer, Stoltzfus Farm Service/Kubota, Betts Garage No.5.  To prevent further damage, Ross retired from the event.

“That was tough.  We needed a good run to help boost the team’s confidence.  Although we didn’t end up with a good result, we are happy to show the speed we had all night long until we had the engine malfunction.”, Ross shared.

“We are going to focus on the night as a whole and not worry about what the result says. There were a lot of things we did well that we have been struggling with in the past few races.”

DIALING IT IN

In early May, Ross took on the World of Outlaws at Lincoln Speedway.  The team was still shaking down a car they had just put together and had only raced once.  A poor qualifying result put the team behind from the start, and ultimately Ross ended his night in the B-main.

“We were just off all night.  If you don’t qualify well with these guys, it’s hard to climb out of the hole.  The good news is we learned some things about what this car wants.”, Ross said.

Ten days later, Ross bounced back at Lincoln’s Fallen Firefighters race.  He timed well and made the redraw with a 2nd-place finish in his heat race.  Ross started 5th in the finale but missed the setup just a little and ended up 8th.

The following night at BAPS Motor Speedway, Ross failed to transfer through his heat as a result of a self-described “driver error”.  He went on to win the B-main to get in the show.  He managed a 19th-place finish.

“Right now, my guys are really working hard to get me comfortable and confident behind the wheel.  I’ve been off since the wrecks early in the year.  I need to do a better job, and I think we will be right on track.”, Ross shared.

“Last night (at Grandview), we finally felt like we were where we needed to be.  We’re hopeful we can carry that run we had going into the upcoming races.”

Ross and his team are currently weighing their options for the upcoming Memorial Day weekend and expect to announce their plans soon.

Keen Building Foundation for Success with Mark Smith

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Port Royal, PA – May 21, 2025

by Addicted2Dirt PR & Media Mgmt

Kyle Keen’s 2025 racing season has been quite disjointed so far.  There have been welcome interruptions, like the arrival of he and his wife Taylor’s first child in April, and of course, there have been plenty of unwanted disruptions by Mother Nature.

On the somewhat distant heels of one race at Port Royal Speedway in late March and another at BAPS Motor Speedway in mid-April, Keen was finally able to return to the track the past two weekends.

Keen and team made their first ever trip to Tri-City Raceway Park in Franklin, PA on May 9th, then returned to Port Royal Speedway on May 17th.

QUICK RESULTS:

  • Date/Location March 29, 2025 / Port Royal Speedway, Port Royal, PA
  • StatsHeat 8th (5), B-main 12th
  • Date/Location:  April 13, 2025 / BAPS Motor Speedway, York Haven, PA
  • StatsQualifying 9th, Heat 6th (9), A-main 22nd (23)
  • Date/Location:  May 9, 2025 / Tri-City Raceway Park, Franklin, PA
  • StatsHeat 5th (4), A-main 11th (14)
  • Date/Location:  May 17, 2025 / Port Royal Speedway, Port Royal, PA
  • StatsHeat 5th (4), A-main 22nd (19)

RECENT RECAPS

Keen made his first-ever visit to Tri-City Raceway Park’s half-mile oval on May 9th, and he was forced to jump right into the figurative ‘deep end of the pool’.  There was no hot lap session for sprint cars, so it was right to a heat race for the Carlisle, PA driver.

Following a 5th-place run in the heat, Keen took what he had learned and made adjustments to prepare for the 25-lap A-main.  He raced to a respectable 11th-place finish later that night in his debut.

“Definitely an improvement from where we have been and almost locked in a top 10, but of course we’re still not where we want to be.”, Keen said.

“We started passing cars in the feature, and that’s a step in the right direction for us.  Not having hot laps and jumping right into heat races was a challenge for me at a brand-new race track, but we adjusted for the feature and made gains.  Tri-City (Raceway Park) is a cool place, and I would like to go back sometime. It was a deceptively fast track!”

Given the aforementioned interruptions to his schedule, it has been difficult for Keen to get into a rhythm this season.  His season opener at Port Royal in March ended in the B-main, then two weeks later, he finished 22nd at BAPS Motor Speedway.  Another four weeks went by before the team unloaded at Tri-City Raceway Park.

Saturday night, May 17th, Keen returned to Port Royal Speedway for the first time since his season debut in late March.  This time around the Carlisle, PA driver transferred to the main event through his heat race by logging a 5th place finish.  He officially finished 22nd after retiring from the race with ten laps remaining.

“Tonight was a positive step for us.  We made the show through the heat race and held off some good cars to do it.  The car was really good…really consistent…so I was able to drive in (to the corners) harder than I ever have there before.  A lot of credit for that goes to Mark (Smith).”, Keen commented.

MARK SMITH

As announced back in December, Mark Smith joined Kyle Keen Motorsports as a mentor and crew chief for the 2025 season.  Keen says Smith has already become an asset to himself and the team, helping build a solid foundation for consistent results.

“Mark has been really, really good for me and the team.  He has a positive attitude, patience, and there are no unrealistic expectations.”, Keen shared.

“He keeps working on the car, then tells me to go try it and let him know how it feels.  I don’t feel any unnecessary pressure.  We’re just working together to get better.”

“With Mark handling the car, I’m able to focus on the track, watch where guys are running, and get my plan together for the night as a driver.”

Smith is also serving as a mentor to Keen, who only has five seasons behind the wheel.

“After watching me, Mark will make suggestions like maybe enter higher or arc my corners differently, but he’s letting me figure it out using the options he gives me to consider.  That makes me think as a driver and better prepares me because I get a better understanding of when to use what approach.”

Keen says that as a result of Smith’s involvement, he has a much more consistent car than he has had in the past.

“It’s almost like I’m re-learning how to race because the car is more predictable.  For example, we used to struggle in features, so I was just sort of making laps.  Now, the car is good, and I’m able to truly race.  I’m learning to manage a feature race, not just survive it.”, Keen explained.

LOOKING AHEAD

“It looks like the weather will start to get better, and we can start racing a little more.  We just need more laps.  That’s the only way to get better.”, Keen said.

While the primary plan is to race at Port Royal most weeks, Keen will venture to Lincoln Speedway this Saturday night for the Bob Leiby Memorial rather than take on the High Limit Racing teams and deep field at the Bob Weikert Memorial.  It’s a decision aimed at giving himself and the team the best opportunity to improve.

“We aren’t where we need to be yet to run with High Limit.  We need laps, and our best chance to get the maximum laps is to head to Lincoln this week.”, Keen added.

“We also want to get some track time at Lincoln because there are some big time trial shows there this year that we want to race.”

ABOUT  KYLE KEEN

Progress Amidst Challenges: Lattomus Makes Show at BAPS on Heels of Outlaw Debut, Announces New Fan Engagement Initiatives

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

York Haven, PA – May 20, 2025

by Addicted2Dirt PR & Media Mgmt

Photo Credit:  Jeremy Zarfos / WRT Speedwerx

After competing in his first two World of Outlaws events, Preston Lattomus reflects on the invaluable experience gained from racing against some of the best in the sport. The deep fields and competitive environment have provided him with unique learning opportunities that are critical for his development as a driver.

“Getting to race with the Outlaws definitely helps in trying to learn as a driver,” Lattomus remarked. “The biggest takeaway was racing with such a high level of good cars and drivers. Competing with better cars and drivers certainly makes you better as a driver.”

Yet, amid the excitement, Lattomus identifies time trials as an area for improvement.

“Time trials have been my biggest flaw recently. It puts me behind early in the night, and it’s something that needs to improve for me to get better,” he acknowledged.

Lattomus is focused on gaining more opportunities to qualify, stating, “The main thing I can do is to get more laps and learn to put together two solid laps that can set me up for a good night.”

Outside the cockpit, Lattomus is learning from his fellow competitors.

“I always try to learn from the guys who are fast and getting good results. Whether watching them off the track or following them on it, taking mental notes is important for making myself better.”, Lattomus shared.

Making the A-main at BAPS Motor Speedway Sunday night provided a confidence boost, as Lattomus secured a spot in the main event against a challenging 39-car field.

“Making the feature definitely helps all around. Getting 30 good laps makes me more confident, as I get to learn more.”, Lattomus shared while reflecting on the night.

As he looks forward to upcoming races at Williams Grove and Lincoln Speedway, Lattomus is eagerly anticipating the growth and learning opportunities that await.

“Next weekend is a great opportunity to make good laps and have a good run or two. With a bigger race in town taking most high-quality guys out of the equation, it presents a good week of learning and growing as a driver in Central PA,” he concluded.

Lattomus continues to embrace each experience, both on and off the track, as stepping stones in his promising future behind the wheel.

Tony Jackson Hits 50 Career Wins with Emotional Triumph at Path Valley; Adds Runner-Up Finish at Bedford

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Spring Run, PA – May 19, 2025

When Tony Jackson announced late last season that 2025 would be his final year behind the wheel, he set two clear goals: to have fun and to win races—most importantly, to reach the 50-win milestone in Sportsman competition. This past Saturday night at Path Valley Speedway Park, Jackson checked off that historic box in spectacular fashion, earning his fourth win of the season and the 50th of his illustrious Sportsman career.

“I got my first sportsman win at Path Valley and my 50th win there too, so that’s a pretty cool deal,” said Jackson. “We had a goal to get to 50 at the beginning of the season, and now it’s time to see how many more we can get.”

Jackson’s weekend kicked off at Path Valley, where he advanced three positions in a heat race, going from fifth to second. As a result of a favorable redraw, he then secured the pole for the A-main. From there, the Scott Hess Racing No. 88 was untouchable. Jackson led all 20 laps in front of a strong field of 20 wingless Sportsman, sealing the coveted career milestone with a dominant performance.

“When the cards work out, they work out,” he said. “The way the redraw worked from the heats, we ended up on the pole, and when you get a chance to start up front with a fast racecar, you’ve got to take advantage of the opportunity.”

The celebration didn’t stop there. Jackson followed up the emotional win with another strong outing Sunday night at Bedford Speedway. After winning his heat race, he started the A-main in fourth with high hopes of back-to-back victories. Ultimately, he brought the car home second—a result that, while just shy of the top step, was still a proud moment on a night that featured the World of Outlaws Late Model Series and a packed crowd of new fans.

“It was disappointing to finish in second, but it was just a cool experience being part of a show like that,” he said. “We started fourth and got to second pretty early in the race, but once the track took rubber on the bottom, we couldn’t really pass. We just needed to get to the front faster.”

Next up, Jackson and Scott Hess Racing return to action with a Memorial Day weekend tripleheader. First on the docket will be a trip to Williams Grove Speedway on Friday for a makeup wingless sportsman show, and then the No. 88 will take on Winged Sportsman action at BAPS Motor Speedway on Saturday. Jackson will pull double-duty at BAPS as he’ll be competing for Mike Callahan as well with the 358-winged sprint cars. He’ll close out the weekend in Wingless competition Sunday at Port Royal Speedway. With momentum along for the ride, Jackson is eager to keep the good times rolling.

“We’ve got a really busy weekend, so this will really be a test for us,” said Jackson. “When you’re rolling good, you’ve got to strike while the iron is hot. Our guys really like to go racing, and I’m looking forward to hopefully another great weekend at the track.”
